An exhibit in a class under a judge who has produced an animal for that exhibitor in the 12months prior to the date of the show. A progeny group sired by, or out of a stallion or mare owned by the judge. All exhibits born in Australia and registered with a relevant breed society in Australia must be branded (with the exception of foals) or will be ineligible to be shown. Imported exhibits do need to be branded but proof that a pony entered in the catalogue and the pony actually shown on the day must be available on request. Exhibitors found to be in breach of any conditions outlined in subclause (4) following any protest, will be removed from the ring, or, have any awards stripped with no refund of entries. 6. MISCELLANEOUS 6.1 Colts 2yrs & over must be bitted at all times whilst in the ring or marshalling area. 6.2 Exhibits entered into stallion, colt or gelding classes must be registered as such with the relevant breed society of the class they are entered in. 6.3 Stallions or colts must be handled, ridden or driven by a person 14yrs & over. 6.4 Whips must not exceed 75cm excluding the tail. 6.5 Native Ponies are defined as Shetland, Australian Ponies, Welsh Sections A, B, C & D, Connemara, New Forest, Dartmoor, Highland, Fell & Haflinger. Native Ponies must be shown as per their breed standards. Australian Ponies may be plaited or unplaited at the owner s discretion. 7. LEADING REIN & CHILDS FIRST RIDDEN CLASSES 7.1 Leading Rein Ponies; Must not exceed 12hnds Must be ridden by a child 3yrs & under 8 years on the day of the show. The pony must be ridden in a snaffle bit (Wilkie & Baucher bits will be permitted) with the handler s lead attached to the cavesson noseband. The handler may hold the lead in either the left or right hand. The child may not have spurs or carry a whip, however, the handler may carry a small cane. Handlers must be 14yrs of age or over on the day of the show. Stallions and Colts are ineligible for Leading Rein classes. 7.2 Childs First Ridden Ponies; Must not exceed 12.2hnds Must be ridden by a child 5yrs & under 12yrs on the day of the show. The pony must be ridden in a snaffle bit (Wilkie & Baucher bits will be permitted) Spurs are not permitted, however the rider may carry a cane. The judge in Childs First Ridden classes may not ask exhibits to canter on the circle for safety purposes but may ask for canter in the individual workouts. Stallions and colts are ineligible for Childs First Ridden classes. 8. NOTES FOR OVERSEAS JUDGES 8.1 A fall of exhibit or rider/driver in any ridden or harness class will result in disqualification from that class. The rider must not remount in the ring. However, at the judge s discretion, he/she may take into account the situation or events resulting in the incident and continue to allow the exhibit to compete in the class. 8.2 Entering and leaving the ring: Horses must enter and leave the entrance/ gateway to a ring at a walk. Once all exhibitors have entered the ring, they will be under the instruction of the judge and Steward. 8.3 Welsh Geldings: In Australia there is no height limit on Welsh Geldings. Therefore, Welsh Geldings should not be discriminated against because of height. 8.4 Broodmares: As our show is relatively late in the breeding season, foals may already be weaned. Therefore, a broodmare may not be discriminated against if it does not have a foal at foot. 8.5 Presentation of Mountain & Moorland Ponies: In Australia, we have very few Mountain & Moorland classes, therefore many choose to show in open classes for non M&M events. Therefore, some may be exhibited with little or no feather. 9. PROTESTS Any Exhibitor who desires to enter a protest concerning any decision on the part of a judge or any decision or act or omission on the part of the Societies responsible for this event or any Official, shall lodge a protest form (available from the Secretary s Office) before noon on the day next following the day on which such decision, act or omission occurred. Every protest must be accompanied by a fee of $ cash. This amount will be forfeited if the protest is NOT upheld. The protest shall be determined by a panel of 3 Show Committee Members. The final decision shall be final and binding. No reasons for the final outcome shall be required. 10. ONE HANDLER / RIDER RULE Unless stated otherwise, handlers/riders may only show 1 pony in ANY class and changing of handlers or riders during a class is prohibited. Classes will NOT be held for handlers or riders with the exception of Championships and Finals. A rider may only ride one pony in a Final. The judge may, at their discretion approve a change of handler/rider but prior approval must be gained through the Ringmaster who will consult with the judge in that ring. HARNESS CLASS INCIDENT GUIDELINES A Driver who has fallen from a vehicle in a harness class is ineligible to continue in that class. As a guideline, if there is no damage to the animal, vehicle or harness, the unit should be driven from the ring by an experienced person.
