2 Welcome to July! If you're like me, you don't necessarily appreciate the heat that's spreading across our area, but it's all part of a Virginia summertime! Know what else is a part of Virginia's summer? You guessed it - Dressage at Lexington! Many of you are planning to show - good! Be sure to keep yourself and your horse (and attending groupies) well hydrated! (Of course, if you have attending groupies, they should be keeping you well hydrated!) Either way - stay smart to stay safe! Want to know a really great way to stay smart if you don't have attending groupies? Volunteer!! Yup, when you volunteer, we keep you well-hydrated, VERY well fed (if you've ever volunteered for the VADA Fall Show or volunteered for DAL last year, you know what I mean!) Aside from food and drink - here are a few more reasons to volunteer! Your Volunteer Coordinator will love you forever (not in a creepy way...) You'll earn those valuable volunteer hours toward your year-end awards and VIP awards You don't have to get into breeches and boots and groom and braid and memorize a test... If you're already showing - you can volunteer around your ride times (no breeches, boots, or braiding required) It's a great way to give back to your GMO - think about that for a moment. If VADA wasn't here for you - DAL, the VADA Fall Show (including the Regional Championships and the CBLMs) wouldn't be held at the Virginia Horse Center. You wouldn't have the opportunity to earn those beautiful year-end awards, you wouldn't be attending the Awards Banquet at the Boar's Head in February and enjoying that amazing Bread Pudding (can you tell I haven't had breakfast yet?) Whatever your motivation, I hope you do consider volunteering. Many hands make light work, it takes a village, etc. However you say it, we really do appreciate every single hour donated - we couldn't do it without you. Best, Penny!
