1 KAWARTHA HALIBURTON & DISTRICT CHAPTER 2008 Annual Report OVERVIEW The Kawartha Haliburton Chapter meets regularly on the third Thursday of each month with the exception being July and August. We have experienced good member participation in recent years as we strive for a uniform application of the 2006 Ontario Building Code throughout our vast area. During our monthly meetings we attempt to have a technical presentation on construction products and or code requirements. We also have an open forum for all members to seek answers to technical and or procedural matters in a comfortable, supportive and relaxed atmosphere. We held two executive elections this year due to our chapter chair leaving for another jurisdiction. MEMBERSHIP In 2008 the Kawartha Haliburton chapter had a total of 26 members representing 5 municipalities and including 3 life members and 4 associate members (See attached membership list 2008) EDUCATION In 2008 our chapter had 4 technical presentations covering the following topics: 1. Peter Doris, OMAFRA, addressed updates to nutrient management legislation. 2. Larry Frost, Mar-Span Roof Truss, new connectors for agricultural roof trusses. 3. Richard Clement, Thermo Seal Insulation Systems, proper installation of BIBS and polyurethane foam insulation. 4. Bill Fisher, National Geothermal Inc., proper installation of geothermal systems. Several of our members also attended a one day seminar, Health & Safety for Building Inspectors put on by the Municipal Health & Safety Association in conjunction with the Muskoka District chapter. EXECUTIVE We experienced two executive elections this year, the first being routine and the second to replace outgoing chapter chair Brent Rice. As of December 2008 our executive was comprised of the following four members: 1. Don Kidd Chapter Chair 2. Angela Yurick Deputy Chair 3. Derryk Wolven - Treasurer 4. Susanne Murchison - Secretary
