1 GR-RRR8 R Wichita Pontiac Club s Monthly Publication August 2015 August club meeting is Sunday the 16th at Tim & Joyce Mahoney's house 561 S Westshore Dr at 1 PM It's a Bar-B-Q Cookout so meeting will be after Lunch! September meeting: September 13th at 1:00 at Leon and Nici Montano s home. 932 E. Peach Ct. Haysville, KS BBQ. Meeting following. We will provide meat and dessert, Please bring a small side.

2 Hope you're having a GR-RRR8 summer. Can't believe all the rain this year. I mean doesn't mom nature know we are still in Kansas. I should have my brownish grass and have to mow every 2 two weeks instead of every week. Put the meeting date at the top of the newsletter. This for the members that didn't want to read the whole thing. Hey I know you are out there. You know Tim always feeds the club well so hope you can make the August meeting. Lots to do on the Uprising. The postcard mailer went out last weekend, want everyone to start getting it on their calendar now! I know lots of members already are working on their sponsorship list. Members, even if you don't have a business that you use a lot already on the list you might hit them up too. If you need some of the postcard mailers let me know and I will get them to you. Gary informed me the club paperwork is done for another year. Good job Gary! Dave is still doing a great job on the club web-site. Remember if you need good directions to get to Tim's house go to the web-site and click on the calendar and the map. Had a good turn out for the Great Bend Show. Started out hot & windy but once Cap looked down and saw us with our Pontiacs, it clouded over and the wind went away. It is covered well on face book so haven't sent Nici any pictures of the cars. A great time was had by all and of course it was so good to see Robin and talk with her. The 4th Annual GTOAA Regional all Pontiac cruise & show at the Pontiac-Oakland Museum in Pontiac, Ill on Sept. 19 &20. Pat & I and Dan & Rita are going that I know of. If you haven't been yet, this would be a good year to check it off your bucket list. I know Pat talked about the wagon display in her article so have included a couple pictures it to show how Tim even changes it up from time to time. See you at the Aug. meeting. Out Here, Les

Last year, the Johnny Bench Pontiac Race Car was on display. No one can display a wagon and bring out the sentimental quality of a Pontiac Wagon like Tim Dye.

4 We each choose the car shows and events we attend for various different reasons. Some are in our hometown or close to where we live; some may be a race event; some may include great social venues. But my favorite Car Show has become the Pontiac (ILLINOIS) Museum & Show. Each time I have gone, the Museum had many new displays of awesome quality. Last year, the Johnny Bench Pontiac Race Car was on display. No one can display a wagon and bring out the sentimental quality of a Pontiac Wagon like Tim Dye. That camping trip corner will take you way back to whenever you went. When you stay close to home, you start to see the same fabulous Classics at every show. And true, you know their owners and nearly everything they ve done to their car. The Pontiac Car Show is a new venue that draws a whole new crowd of enthusiasts. This year, Sept will be only the 4 th year for this Show. In addition to Tim s Museum, they have an outstanding Route 66 Museum and a Famous Wall Murals Museum as well as many of these murals repainted full size on buildings within walking distance of the Car Show. My last trip to The Pontiac Museum & Car Show started with dinner in Hannibal, Mo. aboard the restored steamboat The Mark Twain the evening before the Show. After checking the car in the next day, we toured the Pontiac Museum. But then, I started wandering around, looking at the murals, the miniature, wooden (smaller than go-cart size) hand built, replica cars with humorous details. One of them was carrying Abe Lincoln in the back seat. And then I found that the most of the stores near the Car Show were open, even on Sunday, and they were having some great SALES. I came home with a smile on my face, and. A new Vera Bradley purse. When I came across the sale of the purses I couldn t help but shriek... Wow, Vera Bradley purses for $45.00 maybe just a little too loudly! Within seconds there were 4 or 5 other ladies at the purses and I almost lost the blue floral while trying to make up my mind on which color to take. That was a great Car Show, a great trip and a great blue memorabilia. In fact, we re planning on it again this fall. Hope a few other members can make this trip too.
