Please bring your favorite cookies to eat and share with others. We will provide baggies to take some home with you. Also please wear a festive or ugly Christmas sweater for some friendly competition and fun! Tis the Season! Thursday 1/4/18: Chili Cook-off 7:00 PM Chapman Cultural Center We will once again invite volunteers to cook up their finest, tastiest, spiciest or unique chili to share in this year s chili cook-off! We will be voting on your favorites and passing along the coveted chef s hat to this year s grand prize winner! It could be yours in 2018! 7 I am so excited to bring this opportunity to SSOC. As you know we are supporting the Safe Homes Rape Crisis Center in Spartanburg. The holiday season is upon us, and the board has decided that we would like to help with the Toy Drive at Safe Homes. They serviced 184 kids last year, so I know we can make a huge impact this year. They service those at the house as well as those that have been in therapy for some kind of abuse. We can make a difference here folks! They have a children's room set up so moms can "shop" for their children. They also have a mom's room for children to "shop" for gifts for their mother. Please find it in your heart to purchase something. Imagine being a mother that can't give your child a Christmas. Also think about those mothers that won't receive a gift. We can help. I'll be collecting items at the December meeting to deliver the next day. Distribution will start on the 11th. I am so proud of our club's donations. BUT, coming in January Palmetto Grill (Spartanburg), February Los Cabos (Inman) & March Soulisa s (Landrum). BOY, we sure do get around a lot, don t we? We will start out with a late brunch at Soby s downtown Greenville followed by the hockey game. Those of us that went last year can testify as to how enjoyable this was. 14 NOTES Any Spartanburg Ski Club member may submit items for publication in the newsletter. Publication deadlines can be found on the pullout calendar included in the newsletter each month. Call Taylor for information on how to submit your newsletter item. Also, don t forget - the club has a tent available for rent. It is an 18 X 20 tent, and it is easy to assemble. We also have 4 tables that can be rented with or without the tent. We have the makings for that special occasion and it is all very reasonably priced! Tent rental is $ 35. Tables can be rented for $5 per table. Remember; don t have a party without the comfort of shade. Your guests will appreciate it and so will the club! For rentals of either tent or tables contact Joy Bobo. The Spartanburg Ski & Outing Club normally meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. We are located at the Chapman Cultural Center (West Wing) on East St. John Street in Spartanburg on the first floor. During the summer months (June, July, and August) meetings are frequently held, more informally, at different sites and times. Therefore it is necessary to consult the club web site or a current newsletter for the time and location. April s meeting is held at the Piedmont Club. The club does not provide alcoholic beverages at membership meetings, but members are allowed to bring their own (BYOB) choices of beer or wine. Over-indulgence is not condoned under any circumstances. Cups, ice, and some soft drinks are provided. Thank you.
