5 /METFwd/Run2010B-PromptReco-v2/RECO TCMET>600 GeV and PFMET/TCMET< > total of 35 events 32/35 are ECAL barrel boundary spiks, which are not cleaned in the skim. 3/35 are ECAL endcap isolated crystals with high energy. 2 events are the same crystal (EE+). 6 /METFwd/Run2010B-PromptReco-v2/RECO PFMET>100 GeV and TCMET/PFMET< > total of 22 events There are several categories of events Events with Jet in HE, close to Eta=3 boundary. pfjet Pt is typically reconstructed as 1.5 times larger than calo/jpt Jet Pt. Sample is provided to PF experts for inspection. 12 out of 22 events. pfjet Pt = 170 GeV JPTJet Pt = 181 GeV pfmet = 132 GeV calomet = 71.5 GeV tcmet = 19.4 GeV in HE, Jet Eta=2.9 pfjet Pt = 285 GeV JPTJet Pt = 191 GeV 6

Usually muon is not cleanly reconstructed in the muon system. 3 out of 23 events. pfmet=123.9 GeV tcmet=7.8 GeV Muon Pt = GeV 7

Jets Pt ~ GeV. Barrel jet s activity total 12

Those are reconstructed as photons Bad EE channel position (eta,phi)=(2.575,-0.742),(1.785,2.138) Isolated crystal ET=450 GeV 19

24 Summary 264 events with high MET from 3 different PD are visually inspected (/METfwd, /Electron, /Mu) Main sources of high MET are: -HBHE noise -Beam Halo -Cosmics -mismeasured muons (fixed in 39X for pfmet) -Ecal over-cleaning (fixed in 386 re-reco (?)) 24
