2 GET FIT FOR SPORT Challenge Special Olympics has partnered with the President s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition to promote participation in the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA+) Special Olympics is taking part in PALA+ through a challenge called GET FIT FOR SPORT Designed for all members of the Special Olympics Family Athletes, Families, Coaches, Volunteers, RTP s, YAP Programs, Staff, Board Members, LETR, and Friends 2 / Special Olympics North America

3 Purpose Get Active and Fit Promote Healthy Lifestyles through regular physical activity, sports participation, and healthy eating Motivate people of all ages and all abilities to be physical active and eat healthy 3 / Special Olympics North America

4 Education and Tracking PALA+ will be used to provide: Education on the importance of a healthy lifestyle Tracking and recognition to help participants reach their activity and healthy eating goals For youth (17 and under), 60 minutes of activity 5 out of 7 days a week for 6 out of 8 weeks. For adults (18 and over), 30 minutes of activity 5 out of 7 days a week for 6 out of 8 weeks. For everyone, choose a weekly healthy eating goal and add one each week 4 / Special Olympics North America
