1 Chorley Masonic Hall Newsletter August 2017 Mothers Day Celebration at the Hall Issue 7 April 2018 Ice Cold in Cunliffe Hall The quiet before the storm when Cunliffe Hall hosted the Annual Mother s Day Lunch. All the guests enjoyed a wonderful meal prepared to Sharon s normal very high standard. The afternoon was reported as being a great success and was enjoyed by all who attended. The Hall has invested in two new fridges one upright, the other chest. Needless to say Sharon is over the moon as she can now be confident the food we eat is kept fresh before it is prepared.

2 Bryan Hoarty takes the helm at Pheonix Blues Brothers Pies and Peas Congratulations to our Hall Booking Secretary, Brian Hoarty who was installed in the chair of King Solomon of Pheonix Lodge of Installed Masters in fine style in the presence of W Bro David Winder APGM and other distinguished guests. David, in his letter of thanks to the Lodge commented:- should be. It was a stunningly happy and enthusiastic day with a packed lodge room where there literally was no room at the inn and a rumbustious Festive Board full of banter and enjoyment; indeed, the perfect mix and an example to any visiting brother of what an Installation ceremony All the lodge members should be rightly proud of everything that they did on the day and for what the team achieved; in footballing terms - a Champion's League winning display! On April 6th at 7:30 PM Chorley Masonic Hall, the Chorley Blues Brothers will be holding a Pie and Peas Night. It s 10 per person, open to all light blue Masons and guests. Bookings can be made by ing chorleybluesbrothers@gmail.com Their secretary, Andrew Howarth says It s the third one we've held and they are a fantastic night, good food and company and usually everyone goes for a few drinks in the local pubs afterwards. The Chorley Blues Brothers, is an informal forum for all Masons within the Chorley and District Group of Lodges from Entered Apprentice to Past Master, who have yet to attain Provincial Grand Rank. It enables Light Blue Masons to meet socially, discuss many issues both Masonic & non-masonic and enjoy one another s company The Club provides a good opportunity for younger and more junior members to get together across different Lodges and from the three masonic halls and offers a great way to meet fellow Brethren in a different setting from that of a Lodge meeting.

3 PROSPECT LODGE S FORAY INTO CUMBERLAND & WESTMORLAND At the Festive Board, the newly installed WM of Prospect Lodge, Ken Ingham PPrJGW suggested that Prospect Lodge members should make a return visit to Underley Lodge. The idea was enthusiastically accepted and so on Friday 9 th March 2018, eight members of Prospect Lodge boarded a minibus and made their way to Kirkby Lonsdale. At the Installation meeting of Prospect Lodge in October 2017, the RW Provincial Grand Master was represented by WBro R. Malcolm Dewhurst PAGDC. Malcolm is also the Senior Warden of Underley Lodge No 1074 at Kirkby Lonsdale in the Province of Cumberland and Westmorland and he brought other members of that Lodge to Chorley with him. They were warmly received and welcomed by the Enderley Lodge members and enjoyed the ceremony within the Lodge which included a miscellany of readings from Fred s Five Minute Talks by none other than our own former Group Chairman, WBro John Robson PAGDC who is a regular visitor to Enderley Lodge. There followed a very generous and ample meal including a delicious portion of Cumbrian lamb with mint sauce. In responding to the toast to the visitors, W Bro Ken Ingham thanked W Bro Dewhurst and the Master, Wardens and Brethren for their sincere and fraternal hospitality. Reflecting on the visit, all those members of Prospect Lodge expressed their enthusiasm for such visits and are eager to repeat the exercise in due course.

Standish Chapter has new First Principal Too often only one The Companions of Standish Chapter No 4955, along with their many visitors gathered at Chorley Masonic Hall to witness the Installation of Barry Dutton as First Principal. The Companions were pleased and honoured to have the presence of Chris Butterfield, Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals as the principal guest. Chris was accompanied by Chorley Group Chairman Peter Lockett, Group Treasurer and Acting Provincial Grand Steward Mike Silver and Acting Provincial Grand Steward from the Southport Group Brian Griffiths. One day a week One day a month One day a year Following the convocation, the members and their guests retired to enjoy the delights of an excellent festive board, with a menu consisting of; Melon and Fruits as the starter, Steak Pie with Chips and Veg as the main, followed by a dessert of Apple Crumble & Custard.
