Stuart Graff The Apron AS Masons we hear and repeat words, sometimes without knowing the meaning, or origin of what we are hearing or saying. The following is an explanation of the Masonic Apron.

2 The Masonic Apron is An emblem of innocence and the badge of a Mason; more ancient than the Golden Fleece or Roman Eagle, more honorable than the Star and Garter, or any other order. By these words the Entered Apprentice is taught the value of the apron that he is receiving. But what are these Orders that the Masonic Apron is being compared to? The Order of the Golden Fleece was founded by Phillip, Duke of Burgundy in The Roman Eagle was Rome s symbol (and ensign of power and might) a hundred years before Christ. The order of the Star was created by John II of France in the middle of the Fourteenth Century. The Order of the Garter was founded Edward III of England in 1349 for himself and twenty five Knights of the Garter. That the Masonic Apron is more ancient than these is a provable fact. URGENT - - My brothers, this is an urgent plea to all of my fellow members of J.F. Swartsel lodge. I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep your Trestleboard up to date. In order to accomplish this in the best manner possible we need your help! If you are either a proud member of this lodge and/or a business owner of this lodge, please consider advertising in this publication. You can consider it a donation or an opportunity to attempt to do business with other members of your lodge either way contact R:.W:. Bell for our advertising rates. It will be a terrific help to our budget as well as an additional opportunity for you. An announcement of great importance The District School of Instruction will be held at J. F. Swartsel lodge (that s right my Brothers, HERE) on March 4 th.. PLEASE - - make every effort to be here for this very important occasion. I think I even heard something of a possibility of having food before the school???????????? Class begins at 7:00 if there will be food it would be a good idea to be here at 6:00

3 Chair Chatter From the Secretary s desk. R:.W:. Don Bell!!!! WOW!!! What an event we had on Valentine s Day. The Car Show was FANTASTIC and the BBQ was GREAT. Attendance was much better than I was expecting and everyone seemed to be having a Wonderful time and enjoying the food. THANK YOU goes out to everyone who came out and helped to make this event such a success. I know I cannot name everyone so I won t try but, You know who you are. THANK YOU, AGAIN. NOW is the time to look forward and start planning our next Fundraiser for the Lodge. Maybe we can out do this one, and get MORE Participation from our Members. Watch for further details of the next event. The Lodge is now the PROUD Owner of a Video Surveillance System. If anyone has Expert experience in these systems, PLEASE contact one of the Officers and offer your knowledge in the Installation of this system. Brother Chuck Osborne, Worshipful Master What a fantastic year so far and we have just begun! Petitions are coming in, Brothers are working on their catechisms, Degrees are being presented, and enthusiasm and excitement are the air around the Lodge. February saw a successful First Annual Antique Car Show and Chicken BBQ Fundraiser. A very Special Thank You goes out to W:.David Lambert, W:. David Lambert II, W:.Greg Lambert, W:. James Lambert, and their crew. Without their help and their contacts, this would not have been nearly as success as it was. Thank you again Brothers! Stay tuned for information on our next Fund

4 Raising Project. We also had a great turnout again for our monthly fish fry. Hopefully the momentum will continue to build throughout the year. Welcome to newly initiated Brothers Duhaime and Sherer. I am looking forward to following you progress through the Three Symbolic Degrees in Masonry. March District 22 School of Instruction will be held on Wednesday, March 4 th at our Lodge. The meeting will start promptly at 7:00 PM and we will be providing hot dogs and hamburgers starting at 6:00 pm. Please come out and support your Lodge that night and show the rest of the District what great Brotherhood and Fellowship we have here at J.F. Swartsel Lodge No We have a Fellow Craft Degree scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 th. The Degree Team has been practicing and will appreciate you support and attendance. My Brothers, if you are not having a good time at YOUR Lodge, you must not be coming or participating. Your Officers are working hard to provide you with plenty of opportunities to participate in the fun and fellowship that takes place at YOUR Lodge. I encourage all of you to get involved and help us make your Fraternity the best it can be. From the West. We got so many compliments for the chicken, it was fall off the bone tender and very tasty. Thank you W:. Lambert. There will be no problem making this an annual event. I am sure the people that came will tell their friends. Our last Fish Fry went well, even though we ran out of fish. All that came seemed to enjoy themselves and are looking forward to the next one. We are having Fellow Craft practice on the 3 rd, 10th and 12th. The FC Degree will be on the 18th. Brothers, come out and support these Brothers, they have worked very hard. Brothers if you are not taking advantage of the District Schools, you are missing out. R:. H:. Mike Goldman makes the classes entertaining and the lectures are informative. Sam Pesola, Junior Warden My Brothers not only was our first annual antique car show and Bar-B-Que a huge success, I was absolutely amazed at the interest shown in our lodge. This is an excellent way to get our name out into the community on a positive note. I am anticipating at least one new brother from this venture. My job in the kitchen has been made easier with the help of several brothers who are happy to help with all of the chores from the preparation to the clean-up. This is what makes a lodge a success and I am happy to be a part of it. Your meals will continue to be healthy as well as good tasting throughout the year, and I know we will ALL appreciate that. As I close this month s column, I would like to thank not only the brothers who have afforded me this opportunity, but those that are following in the line of progression toward Master of the Lodge.
