Hurricane Matthew hit NC October 8/9, 2016 Hurricane Hermine, September In 2016, Bodie Island Lighthouse limited the number of climbers. The Lost Colony ran May 27 to August 20, 2016 Hatteras-Ocracoke Ferry using longer ferry route. NPS now reporting recreational visits instead of total visits previously reported. NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island closed January 4, 2016-mid-May. for renovations. Counting visits to STAR Center. Hurricane Joaquin in September 2015 impacted visitation at many sites. Cape Hatteras Light was closed before and after the storm; then was only open for the few remaining days in the season Lost Colony numbers include attendance at afternoon plays and concerts. Hurricane Arthur July 4, 2014 As of March 2014, Jennette's Pier is able to provide accurate numbers for the pier visits. The Lost Colony 2014 Schedule-May 30 to August 22 Aycock Brown Welcome Centers closed for 2.5 snow days in January Weather Station and Whalebone open in January to make up for Gov't closures National Park Service sites closed due to government shut down Oct 1-16, Weather station and Whalebone VC impacted by shutdown. Lost Colony opened 5/31/13 and closed 8/23/13 Hatteras-Ocracoke Ferry suspended 1/19-2/22/13 due to low water. Welcome Center counts reflects number of people who were inside center. Jockey's Ridge State Park uses a car counter at park and pedestrian counter on US 158. n/a not available 1/19/17 7
