2 Status of Congressional Action Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2015 Congress revised Positive Train Control systems requirements: Extended deadline from December 31, 2015, to December 31, 2018 Provide for an Alternative Schedule and Sequence for implementing a PTC system With an approved Alternative Schedule and Sequence, PTC must be implemented by a deadline that is both as soon as practicable and no later than December 31,

11 TRE and the Need For A PTC Contingency Plan TRE has made significant progress toward meeting the PTC mandate and has applied for Substitute Criteria, but will also need to apply for Alternate Schedule in mid November A contingency plan for service to cover TRE stations is being created in the event the Alternative Schedule is not approved by the FRA 11

12 TRE PTC Contingency Plan Overview This presentation provides an overview of the TRE PTC contingency plan, in the unlikely event we are unable to meet the Congressional PTC mandate by December 31, 2018 There are several options available to temporarily replace train service if needed. The options include Lifeline service and Express service Lifeline service would include the Dallas terminal at SWMD Parkland Station, and would allow for the most efficient connection to Light Rail with the fewest traffic delays Express service would include bringing the bus to Victory (planned for AAC events) at all times or all the way to Union Station. The Union option could potentially conflict with DART services and present bus curb space issues Trinity Metro has also developed a contingency plan to provide service for Tarrant County TRE riders 12

Downtown Express From West Transfer Center (downtown Dallas) to T&P Station (downtown Fort Worth), with a possible stop at ITC 13
