We have been told about financial and trade reprocutions both real and imaginary. There has been little said about sovereignty and the rights to enact our own laws. I suggest that you check on some of the daft ideas that some EEC countries are trying impose regarding Classic vehicles. Germany want to restrict the use of classic vehicles to pre-arranged attendance at Classic shows. Another one would prohibit any changes in your motorcycle from the manufacturers originai specification and that included choice of tyres!! I think that we have enough with our own politicians without having to contend with those from a dozen other nations adding to the confusion. There are 4 checkpoints and the idea is to visit each and get your photo taken and then the finish. No set order, route or schedule. 3 . Stafford Report. (3) The Stafford Classic Motorcycle Show has been part of the Club's activities from the very beginning over 30 years ago and this year was no exemption. At total of eight machines were on display varying in ages from 1914 up to 1988 and sizes 113cc to 735cc. The show itself took the usual form with the club stands and traders spread over the main and side halls, along with an outside auto-jumble area. The show was very busy both Saturday and Sunday with a fair few visitor to the stand, with many opportunities for members to explain the finer points of their machines. The weather played ball most of the time with heavy rain over Saturday/Sunday night and a little rain Sunday afternoon, but overall it kept dry during the day allowing the outside jumble to be visited. Dry it might have been but warm it was not, in fact sometimes it seemed colder inside than out. That aside most people enjoyed the show and even managed to find some treasure in the jumble. Talking of which there seems to be a trend for the jumble to be dominated by the larger traders and sellers of new tools, clothing etc. also non motorcycle traders. Sign of the times? Or maybe the ever increasing cost of the stall pitches? As an aside, Bonhams achieved a world record for the sale of a British Motorcycle, a very rough Brough Machines on display 1937 BSA B Wall Auto-Wheel 1947 Velocette KSS 1973 Rickman Interceptor 1988 Silk 500S 1946 Norton Model BSA M24 Gold Star 1970 BSA 250 Woodsman Thanks to all who brought their machines and helped to man the stand. 4 (4) CHALGROVE VILLAGE FESTIVAL Report by John Lay. Chalgrove Village Festival has been held for some years and has included a display of classic vehicles and machinery although the motorcycle contingent has always been rather small, This year however saw an improvement with the participation the BMRCO. We did not attend in any official form but we did considerable add to the numbers and even got to put up the club's display banner. Not every one turned on a British bike or even a bike at all, there was one pre-war Riley and equally old barn engine but none the less it all helps to promote the club's standing locally. One of our members Bob Taylor - even won The most original Bike award so well done to him and thanks to those who came alone and supported the event.
