3 Massachusetts Women s Basketball Opponent Information Scouting The Georgia State Panthers Georgia State started the year with three consecutive wins, but dropped three of the last four games for a 4-3 mark ahead of competition with the Minutewomen. Three of the Panthers four victories came at home at the GSU Sports Arena, including a decision over Tennessee Tech in their most recent game. Kayla Nolan s 13.4 points per game paves the way for the Georgia State offense. Aisha Andrews adds 11.0 per appearance, but missed the most recent two games due to a violation of team rules, while Makeba Ponder provided 10.9 points and Brittany Logan adds a near double-double with 9.7 scored to go along with 9.4 rebounds per game. Sharon Baldwin-Tener is in her fifth season at Georgia State. She is with the Panthers and over 16 seasons as a head coach so far. Baldwin-Tener also guided East Carolina and Life University prior to her arrival at Georgia State. 4 Massachusetts Women s Basketball Opponent Information Scouting The Ohio Bobcats Ohio University started the season with six consecutive victories, but faltered in its two consecutive games with one more to play before the Bobcats face the Minutewomen in a neutral-site contest. Ohio counts victories over Detroit, Manhattan, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky and Wofford. The Bobcats losses came at the hands of East Carolina, and James Madison, They play Atlantic 10 Conference member La Salle on Friday, Dec. 19 prior to facing UMass the following day. Kiyanna Black pours in 17.8 points per game while Quiera Lampkins (13.8) and Lexie Baldwin (11.1) also contribute double-digits on average. Lampkins is the leading rebounder on the squad with 7.0 per game and Baldwin follows closely with 6.1 in each contest. Despite their two straight losses, Ohio still outscores foes, 78.9-to-57.8 as the squad connects on 43.6 percent of its field goals as a team (216-of-495). Bob Boldon is in his second season as the head coach at Ohio University. He is so far with the Bobcats and as a program leader, with additional stops at Youngstown State and Lambuth University. Thirty-year coaching veteran Chris Wielgus was elevated from director of operations to assistant coach on Sept. 3, She led Dartmouth ( , ) and Fordham ( ) before her arrival at UMass ahead of the season. Rashida Timbilla is the only A-10 women s basketball student-athlete to qualify for the top-5 in rebounds, assists and steals. Timbilla leads UMass with 8.1 rebounds per game (fifth in the conference), 4.0 assists (sixth) and 2.4 steals (tied-second). UMass starts a pair of freshmen in Leah McDerment and Cierra Dillard. McDerment serves as the starting point guard while Dillard is a scoring threat at shooting guard. Rashida Timbilla earned seven steals in the near-upset of Central Michigan, a single-game career best and tied for the fifth-most in one contest in program history. Kymber Hill recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and as many rebounds in the win at North Texas on Nov. 21. Senior Emily Mital is approaching 100 career games played with the Minutewomen. She stands at 92 appearances entering play against Georgia State. She has competed in 64 consecutive contests and has only missed one game in her career due to injury. UMass shot 57.1 percent from the floor (24-of-42) in the win over Maine, its best performance on field goals since a Nov. 8, 2012 game versus Kent State (61.1; 33-of-54), a span of 61 games. 6 University of Massachusetts Women s Basketball Game Notes Quick Look: UMass 72, Holy Cross 61 Kim Pierre-Louis and Cierra Dillard provided individual career-highs in points and spurred the Minutewomen to a victory over Holy Cross on Sunday, Dec. 15. Pierre-Louis poured in 27 while Dillard added 21, including 17 in the second half when Massachusetts outscored the Crusaders by 12 points to seal the win. The Minutewomen earned the win with their play in the paint, where UMass produced 40 points and held the Crusaders to just 18 in the lane on the other end. Down at the half, the Minutewomen fired in 55.6 percent of their field goals during the deciding frame and outscored Holy Cross by 12 points during the half, as a result. Dillard and Pierre-Louis were locked in and - combined - went 11-of-15 on field goals (73.3 percent) to spearhead to comeback. Dillard Gets A-10 Rookie Of The Week Freshman guard Cierra Dillard earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday, Dec. 15, after she provided 21 points - 17 in the second half - when UMass defeated Holy Cross, on Sunday, Dec. 14. During the second half she shot 6-of-8 from the floor, grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists and earned two steals without a turnover while she played the entire frame. Timbilla Reaches 500 Rashida Timbilla surpassed 500 career rebounds at UMass during the contest against Harvard. Timbilla is up to 521 as a Minutewoman nine games into her junior season. She had 241 as a freshman and 207 during her sophomore season. Currently, Timbilla averages 8.1 boards per game as a junior and 7.9 per game for her career. If she continues to average 7.9 rebounds per game over the remainder of her career, Timbilla projects to finish as one of only three Minutewomen ever to earn at least 900 career rebounds alongside Jennifer Butler (1,328; ) and Octavia Thomas (903; ). Creating Extra Possessions UMass forced opponents into 153 turnovers during the opening nine games of the season for an average of 17.0 per game. The last time a Minutewoman team forced as many turnovers per game over the course of a single season was when the team averaged 18.4 turnovers created in each contest. The Maroon and White also nearly averaged 17.0 per game during the campaign with 16.9 that year. Making The Freebies Emily Mital has found success at the foul line through seven games of the season as she is 11-of-13 on free throws (84.6 percent). The Centerpiece ON Offense Kim Pierre-Louis leads UMass with 159 points scored during the first nine contests. In total, UMass scored 554 points during those games, meaning Pierre-Louis is responsible for 28.7 percent of the team s entire offense so far. In addition to leading the team in total points and points per game (17.7), Pierre-Louis is tops among Minutewomen in field goals attempted (126) and made (67), free throws made (25) and attempted (39), offensive rebounds (25) and blocks (7). UMass went on its game-changing scoring streak after the Knights hit 10 of their opening 17 field goals in the second half (58.8 percent) to build their lead as large as 11 points in the frame. Free throw shooting spearheaded the final push by the Minutewomen. After the squad started just 3-of-10 at the foul line, UMass hit nine of its last 10 takes to turn the deficit around. After they had trailed for all but 22 seconds of the final half, Rashida Timbilla gave the Minutewomen the lead back with a pair of made free throws at the 1:18 mark after she stole possession from Lewis and forced a foul at the other end. Pierre-Louis added a jumper as the shot clock expired with 19 seconds left in the game to extend the advantage to Massachusetts forced the Knights into their sixth consecutive missed shot during the next possession when Andrea Hines threepointer fell to the left of the rim and rolled out of bounds. Pierre-Louis iced the game with two more from the charity stripe. Keeping An Expanded Rotation Sharon Dawley used all 12 players eligible to compete during in four of the nine games played so far and 10 of the dozen in each contest. Nine players average at least 10 minutes per game, led by Rashida Timbilla s 33.6 in each contest. Hand It Over Rashida Timbilla had seven steals at Central Michigan in UMass near-upset of the preseason MAC favorites on Nov. 16. Her seven steals were two better than her previous best. It tied Timbilla for the fifth-most on the single game record listing for steals in a contest. Jennifer Butler set the high mark with 10 against Charlotte on Nov. 17, Timbilla has 101 steals in 66 games (1.5 spg). At her current pace, Timbilla will join the top-20 all-time at UMass in the category late in the current season. She ranks tied with VCU s Keira Robinson for second in the Atlantic 10 Conference for steals per game with 2.4 in each contest on average. 7

8 University of Massachusetts Women s Basketball Coaching Staff Head Coach SHARON DAWLEY Fifth Season At UMass // 21st Season As Head Coach Overall // St. Anselm 83 Sharon Dawley was named as the 10th head coach in the history of the University of Massachusetts women s basketball program on April 6, 2010, and begins her fifth season at the helm for the Minutewomen in In her first season in Amherst, Dawley coached her squad to one of the best three point shooting percentages in the country, highlighted by Cerie Mosgrove, who led the nation with 49.7 percent clip from beyond the arc. Mosgrove, one of several Minutewomen who enjoyed career years under Dawley s guidance in , went on to win the National Women s Three-Point Shooting Championship at the men s Final Four in Houston, Texas. Simultaneously, Dawley and her staff helped 2013 graduate Jasmine Watson develop into one of the most successful players in program history. Watson eclipsed 1,000 career points during the first game of her senior season to become the 19th member of the UMass women s basketball 1,000-point club while she capped her career among the top-20 all-time in more than a dozen program statistical categories. 8 Dawley came to UMass after a highly successful tenure with the Catamounts that included two consecutive America East Championships ( and ) and three straight postseason berths. In seven seasons at Vermont, Dawley posted a mark of (.598) and holds a career record of (.539) through 20 seasons as a head coach. She became the winningest coach in Vermont women s basketball history when the Catamounts upset No. 7-seed Wisconsin in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on March 21, 2010, the program s first NCAA tournament victory. Under Dawley s guidance, Vermont earned an automatic NCAA Tournament berth as a No. 10 seed after successfully defending its America East Tournament title in The Catamounts defeated top-seeded and No. 21-ranked Hartford in the conference championship game, UVM posted a record of 27-7 that season, the third-highest wins total for the program all-time, and led the nation with 18 road victories. Dawley earned her 100th career win at Vermont with a victory over Hartford in the semifinals of the 2009 America East Championship as UVM went on to capture its first conference title since The Catamounts made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in nine years where the squad fell to eventual national champion Connecticut. During Dawley s stint at Vermont, 23-of-28 players that played earned America East academic and/or athletic accolades. She coached a player of the year, defensive player of the year, rookie of the year, two-time scholar-athlete and two-time most outstanding player at the America East Tournament. Under Dawley s direction, the Catamounts earned six all-conference picks, four all-rookie nods and two all-academic team honors. In , Dawley guided Vermont to one of its best seasons in the program s existence. The Catamounts went 24-9 overall, recording the fourth most wins all-time, and were the America East runners-up during the regular season with a 13-3 league mark. 9 University of Massachusetts Women s Basketball Coaching Staff In , Dawley led UVM to a record and a third place finish in America East. She guided the Catamounts to a 13-3 start and the year was highlighted with Vermont s first-ever win over a ranked opponent when the Catamounts upset No. 22 Boston College in the championship game of the URI Invitational. After being picked to finish eighth in the league s preseason poll, Dawley coached Vermont to a No. 3 seed in the America East Championship and the Catamounts advanced to the semifinals. The Catamounts were also named one of the most improved teams in the country at the Division I level following the campaign. In Dawley s first season on the Vermont sidelines ( ), she posted the best start by a first-year head coach at Vermont, guiding the Catamounts to a 6-2 mark to begin the season. Vermont finished the year with a record of and wrapped up the regular season with victories over No. 1 Maine, No. 2 Binghamton and No. 4 Albany on the road. Vermont s victory at Maine snapped the Black Bear s 31-game conference win streak. Under Dawley s guidance, the Vermont women s basketball team also enjoyed success in the classroom. During her seven years at the helm of the Catamounts, her student-athletes earned 55 America East Academic Honor Roll citations, including 23 nominations to the America East Commissioner s Academic Honor Roll for achieving a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. On Dawley s watch, May Kotsopoulos earned the America East Women s Basketball Scholar-Athlete honor twice heading into the season. Three of Dawley s players at Vermont were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I Women s Basketball First Team and Kotsopoulos became the third player in school history to be tabbed an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American in Amy Rosenkrantz `09 and Kotsopoulos were candidates for the Lowe s Senior CLASS Women s Basketball Award in back-to-back years, as well. In , Dawley s first year at Vermont, the Catamounts ranked 10th out of the top 25 Division I teams selected to the Women s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for Division I. The award recognizes the nation s highest team grade point averages for that season. Prior to arriving at Vermont, Dawley spent 10 years as a member of the women s basketball staff at Dartmouth College. She served as an assistant coach from and was promoted to associate head coach under Chris Wielgus in July of Before joining the Dartmouth staff, Dawley served as head women s basketball coach at Tufts University for nine seasons. She compiled a record of (.688). Dawley led the Jumbos to a Northeast Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in just her third season ( ). Tufts reached the NIAC title game in her first five seasons. Quick Look: UMass 68, Maine 60 Massachusetts women s basketball used balanced scoring to defeat Maine, 68-60, and earn its first win of the season in the home-opener for the squad. Nine Minutewomen recorded points, led by Kim Pierre- Louis 19, as the squad shot 57.1 percent from the floor. It was Pierre-Louis third consecutive game eclipsing double-figures in points. The team s shooting percentage was its best since UMass hit 61.1 percent (33-54) versus Kent State on Nov. 10, a span of 61 games between outings. The Maroon and White went ahead for good during the middle of the second half when the Minutewomen went on a 12-0 run to stake themselves to a lead. Maine was unable to pull closed than within eight the rest of the way as UMass combined its team offense with a feisty defense that created 17 turnovers to secure the win. Rashida Timbilla had 14 points, six assists and five rebounds while Kymber Hill added 10 points (3-4 FGs, 4-6 FTs) and a career-best eight rebounds. A Second Half Savior Cierra Dillard spearheaded the UMass win over American when she scored 15 of her single-game career-high 18 points during the second half. Dillard s only made shot of the first half was a three-pointer that put UMass up, with two seconds left in the stanza. She was 5-of-10 from the floor and 5-for-6 at the foul line during the second half, in which she played 17 minutes. She upped her second-half success in the win over Holy Cross when she poured in 17 of her career-high 21 points and went 6-for-8 from the floor to lead UMass to its comeback win over the Crusaders. Dillard more than doubles her scoring output from the first half to the second through nine games. She averages 3.0 points during the first half and scored 6.3 after the break. Double Up On Points & Rashida Timbilla leads all active Minutewomen with 11 double-doubles, including a 14-point & 12-rebound game at Central Michigan on Nov. 16, She had seven as a freshman in and followed up with three during her sophomore campaign. Kim Pierre-Louis follows with seven earned during her career, with all but two earned when she was a junior in Kymber Hill joined the duo with her first double-double on 10 points and as many rebounds at North Texas on Nov. 21. A First For Kymber Hill Kymber Hill recorded her first collegiate double-double on 10 points and as many rebounds against North Texas. Hill was 4-for-7 from the floor 2-of-4 at the foul line while she split her 10 boards evenly between the offensive and defensive ends of the court. Yes, You Can Call it A Comeback UMass defeated UCF, despite trailing by as much as 11 in the second half. UMass erased the deficit through a 13-point game-ending streak that turned a deficit into the final score. The Minutewomen also trailed by double-digits to North Texas during the first half of an eventual victory. UMass was down 18-6 with 7:28 to play in the opening half, but cut the margin to at the break and outscored North Texas, during the second half for a victory. The Same Starting Five UMass used the same starting five in each of its nine games so far in Leah McDerment serves as the point guard, Cierra Dillard is the shooting guard, Rashida Timbilla holds down the No. 3 spot as a combo guard/forward, Kim Pierre-Louis start at forward (No. 4) and Kymber Hill is the center. Massachusetts and St. Bonaventure are the only two Atlantic 10 Conference teams to use the same starting five in each game this season. The Hometown Girl Junior guard Victoria Stewart is a native of Amherst, Massachusetts, and played scholastically at nearby Amherst-Pelham High School. Stewart, who walked on to the team as a freshman in , earned a scholarship for her hard work, dedication and positive attitude before her sophomore year. 12 University of Massachusetts Women s Basketball Game Notes It s A Marathon, Not A Sprint Rashida Timbilla averages 33.6 minutes played per game, tops among all Minutewomen by nearly nine minutes. The next-most played on average is Cierra Dillard s 25.0 minutes in each contest. Timbilla ranks sixth in the conference for minutes played per game. She leads all forwards in the Atlantic 10 Conference s top-10 for minutes played ahead of Saint Joseph s Sarah Fairbanks (32.2; tiedseventh) and Dayton s Ally Malott (31.4; 10th). There s No Place Like Home UMass has won four times at home this season with victories over Maine, 69-60, Central Florida, 67-62, American, and Holy Cross, Kim Pierre-Louis averaged 22.5 points per game in those contests, followed by Cierra Dillard s As a team in those games, the Minutewomen shot 47.0 percent from the floor (102-of-217), including 42.9 percent from three-point land (15-of-35). Mital Good From Afar Nine games into her final year as a Minutewoman Emily Mital has made 121 career three-pointers for the Maroon and White, the seventh-most in the history of the program. She needs to connect on eight more to pass Kim Benton ( ) for sixth all-time. Her junior season success earned her the spot on UMass all-time leaderboard for made three-pointers as she went 52-for-142 (36.6 percent) during the campaign. As a sophomore in , Mital hit 48 of her 151 tries from long distance (31.8 percent) after she finished 8-of-39 in the category as a freshman (20.5 percent). She is also seventh all-time in three-point field goal attempts (371) while her 52 threes made over the course of the season put her ninth on the single-season rankings. Random Identical Scheduling The men s and women s basketball programs played the same opponent, Florida State, on the same day, Sunday, Nov. 23, in neutral site games during non-conference tournaments. The team s split the random set of games with UMass men s basketball winning and the Florida State women s team taking home the victory. Dillard Scoring In Bunches Nine games into her UMass career, Cierra Dillard averages 9.3 points per game and is currently the second-highest scoring Minutewoman. Dillard showed a penchant for scoring in bunches at critical junctures versus CMU and North Texas. She netted nine points, an assist and a steal during the final four minutes, 45 seconds as the Minutewomen closed a 16-point deficit to within one basket of the win at CMU. She also had all four of her points versus North Texas during the 12-2 game-defining run UMass used to win the contest late. Hi, My Name Is... The Minutewomen played three consecutive firsttime opponents during with games against North Texas, Florida State and UCF. 13 University of Massachusetts Women s Basketball Game Notes Boarding With The BEst Of Them With an appearance vs. St. Bonaventure on Feb. 8, 2014, Rashida Timbilla played in her 50th game with at UMass, the minimum required to be eligible for the program s top-20 for rebounding average. Timbilla averages 7.9 boards per appearance (521), tied for the fourth-highest in program history with Octavia Thomas (7.9; ). Timbilla led the Minutewomen in rebounding during both of her completed collegiate campaigns. She had 241 over 29 games as a freshman and provided 207 in 28 appearances during The Ottawa, Ontario, native has 73 rebounds through nine games as a junior for an average of 8.1 per contest. Timbilla s Near Triple-Double Rashida Timbilla came close to earning a tripledouble as she had nine rebounds, eight points and eight assists in the win over American (12/6). Her assists total marked a single-game career-high for the junior. The last Minutewoman to record a triple-double was Jennifer Butler, who accomplished the feat against Charlotte on Nov. 17, 2000 with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals. Deuces Wild Kim Pierre-Louis scored 22 points when UMass defeated UCF, 67-62, through a 13-point gameending run. Pierre-Louis 22 scored were the most by a Minutewoman this season at the time and the fifth game the senior provided at least 20 points in her career. Pierre-Louis added another 22-point effort to help UMass secure its victory over American on Saturday, Dec. 6. She surpassed this total with a career-high 27 for the Minutewomen in their win over Holy Cross on Sunday, Dec. 14. Finding Their Friends is Key In the five victories this season, UMass averages 16.0 assists per game on 24.4 made field goals in each contest. That gives the squad a dish on 65.6 percent of field goals made on average during each win. However, during the four losses, the Minutewomen only distribute 8.5 assists on 19.3 shots converted (44.0 percent). The Canadian Connection UMass has had eight Canadian players compete for the program in the history of the squad including Kim Pierre-Louis and Rashida Timbilla. The list also included sisters Alisha Tatham ( ) and Tamara Tatham ( ), Cleo Foster ( ), Carolann Cloutier ( ), JoAnn Dupuis ( ) and Stephanie Lawrence ( ). Freshmen Make Big Leap In Game 2 The four UMass freshmen, Cierra Dillard, Leah McDerment, Maggie Mulligan and Ciara Rosten, combined to score 30 points against the Central Michigan defense. This number came after Dillard s seven points at Western Michigan were the only ones scored by the newcomers. Dillard also led the way at CMU with 16 while McDerment and Rosten followed with five and Mulligan added four points. These four shot a respectable 41.7 percent from the floor (10-of-24) and went 8-for-11 from the foul line (72.7 percent) against the Chippewas. Griffith Joins Coaching Staff Yolanda Griffith, a two-time Olympic gold medalwinning member of the U.S. National Team and WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, joined the UMass coaching staff on Sept. 5. Griffith, a 2014 first ballot inductee into the Women s Basketball Hall of Fame, played 11 seasons in the WNBA and was the 2005 finals MVP when Sacramento won the WNBA Championship. 14 University of Massachusetts Women s Basketball Game Notes Wielgus Named Assistant Coach Chris Wielgus was elevated from director of operations to assistant coach ahead of the season. Wielgus served as the director of operations during and has 30 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Wielgus was the women s basketball coach at Dartmouth for 28 years ( ; ), where she led the Big Green to seven NCAA Tournament appearances and two WNIT berths. She also coached the Fordham Rams to 37 victories over a two-season span from and has 436 victories as a collegiate head coach in total. Olson To Fill Operations Role Kellie Olson took over as the women s basketball director of operations Sept. 4, Olson brought a wealth of experience within the corporate realm to the position as she has worked for UPS as an accounts executive and UMass Athletics with the Learfield Sports Marketing team. Olson competed for the Stetson women s basketball program from after two seasons at Mesa Junior College. Following completion of her competitive career, Olson stayed involved in basketball as an official. She has refereed games since 2010, including ECAC Division III (2012) and Northeast-10 Division II (2013) contests. She is the granddaughter of legendary Arizona men s basketball head coach and NCAA Champion Lute Olson. Staying In-State Three members of the squad - Amber Dillon, Maggie Mulligan and Victoria Stewart - hail from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mulligan in a Boston native while Stewart is from Amherst. Dillon hails from Dorchester, which is less than four miles from South Boston. The trio represents the most Commonwealth of Massachusetts natives on a UMass squad since the team also had three (Kara Trent, Kelley Van Huisen and Rekiya Penton). Pierre-Louis Then Vs. Now During her first two seasons as a Minutewoman, Kim Pierre-Louis averaged just 3.6 points and 2.1 rebounds over 39 appearances. However, since the beginning of the season, Pierre-Louis junior year, the forward provides 14.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest in 40 games played. The Canadian National Team and Tatham finished in fifth place after the squad entered competition ranked No. 9 internationally. Canada defeated China, the Czech Republic, France and Mozambique during the seven-game tournament. 15 University of Massachusetts Women s Basketball Game Notes International Appeal Among the 13 Minutewomen on the active roster at the start of the season are four international players hailing for three countries. A pair, Kim Pierre-Louis and Rashida Timbilla, come from the same city, Ottawa, Ontario, while Paula Tarnachowicz originates from Gdynia, Poland, and Leah McDerment hails from Stockport, England. The four internationally-born players are tied for the second-most on one season s roster in program history with the and campaigns. The squad has had at least one international student-athlete active on the roster in each of the last 15 seasons and 20 of the previous 21. She Gets Buckets Kim Pierre-Louis provides a consistent shot in and around the paint as a senior in , which leads her to own the fifth-highest field goal percentage in the Atlantic 10 at.532 as she is 67-for- 126 from the floor. Her percentage makes her one of only nine Atlantic 10 women s basketball players qualifying for the top-15 listing with a mark at or above 50.0 percent. Thomas Joins A-10 Legends UMass standout Octavia Thomas was one of 13 former A-10 women s basketball student-athletes named to the conference s Legends Class of Thomas provided UMass women s basketball with 1,791 points and 903 rebounds during her fouryear career as she led the Minutewomen to the 1995 WNIT and 1996 NCAA Tournament. George Trigger Burke was an all-america selection in 1956 as he also took in All-East, All-New England, All-Yankee Conference and all-boston Garden. She was honored along with 12 women s hoops compatriots and the 13 men s basketball inductees during the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship. Watson Balling In Romania Former UMass women s basketball center Jasmine Watson ( ) currently plays overseas for CSM Targoviste of the Romania National League. She previously competed for ASC Sepsi, another squad in the same league, following her graduation from the University of Massachusetts in the Spring of Watson, a four-year starter for the Minutewomen, averages 11.3 points per game and 5.9 rebounds in each contest playing center for Targoviste, which opened the year with a 13-2 start. Champions Center Update The UMass Athletic Department is in the process of constructing a dedicated basketball training facility directly South of the Mullins Center. The facility is scheduled to be completed by Summer 2015 and will give the basketball programs their first dedicated practice and training facility. At $28.5 million, it will be a 53,000 square foot complex that will be the new home for program daily operations. The official name of the facility is the John Francis Kennedy Champions Center For UMass Basketball. Kennedy is responsible for the lead gift to the project of $11 million. Alyssa Lawrence Transfers In Alyssa Lawrence joined the women s basketball team ahead of Lawrence will sit out as per NCAA transfer policy and will be a redshirt-sophomore in Lawrence, a native of New Rochelle, New York, played for San Diego State University as a freshman in Prior to that, she attended The Ursuline School and competed for AAU programs Ring City and the New Jersey Sparks. Lawrence was an all-league and all-section honoree and received a three-star grade from ESPN HoopGurlz. 15
