The 38.7 percent showing was good enough for the Bobcats second-highest single-game percentage of the season. Quinnipiac s Gold Rush strategy subbing five players in-and-out at a time has paid strong dividends this season as the Bobcats are outscoring their opponents in bench points (30.3 per game). Quinnipiac s depth and pressure defense has been a huge key to success in as the Bobcats' have committed fewer turnovers than their opponents in every game this year. On the season, the Bobcats are forcing an average of 21.9 turnovers per game which has translated into 136 points off turnovers (15.1 per game) through nine games this season. Aryn McClure racked up nine points, four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in just 16 minutes at Northeastern. McClure also led the team in shots (12) for the first time in her young career. McClure s play on the offensive end has been as a big key to success as the Bobcats are undefeated in the two games in which McClure has scored more than five points. Maria Napolitano has caught fire since returning from injury six games ago, averaging 14.5 PPG in just 23.7 MPG while reaching double figures in five-of-six games. In those six games, she has racked up 87 points, which is nearly three times as many as the next-closest Bobcat (35 points) in that span. Brittany Johnson played the best game of her young career, tallying a career-high 12 points including six boards and two assists at Northeastern. After scoring just 10 points in the first five games of the year, Johnson has scored 32 points (8 PPG) in the last four contests to rank second on the team in scoring. 3 BACK FROM BREAK As exam week is now finished, the Quinnipiac women s basketball team (5-4, 0-2 MAAC) returns from a 10-day break without games with a road matchup at Drexel (3-6, 0-0 CAA) on Monday, December 21. Armed with a 5-2 record through seven non-conference games this season, the Bobcats look to better an already impressive mark against another prominent mid-major foe in the Dragons. ON THE AIRWAVES AM 1220 WQUN will provide live audio for the game. The audio link is provided above. Paul Pacelli will be on play-by-play while Bob Tipson will provide the color commentary. Live video will also be available courtesy of Drexel TV via the link available above. SCOUTING THE DRAGONS Drexel (3-6, 0-0 CAA) has battled through a challenging non-conference slate that includes losses to nationally-ranked South Florida, Villanova, Vanderbilt, Saint Joseph s and Penn. The Dragons also come in having lost two straight and five of their last six played overall. The upcoming meeting also marks the first home game for Drexel since Dec. 3 as the Dragons have gone on the road for the last three games played. Despite the disappointing record through nine games, Drexel is a more than capable opponent that features two top-end scorers and an elite distributor at the point guard position. Sarah Curran been the go-to scorer throughout the season for Drexel as she averages a teamleading 15.3 points per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor, 43.3 percent from three and 86.4 percent at the free throw line. Curran also averages 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in 30.4 minutes. She has cooled of late with just 16 points in the last two games but prior to the recent shooting struggles, Curran started the season with seven straight double digit scoring outputs and an average of 17.4 PPG. The Dragon that comes in playing the best over the last three games has been Rachel Pearson as she has posted scoring totals of 16, 20 and 17 (17.7 PPG) in that recent three-game stretch. For the season, Pearson has posted a stat line of 13.2 PPG, 45 FG%, FG%, 2.3 RPG, 1.6 APG and 30 MPG. The team s leading three-point threat has hit 23 on the season (2.6 per game) and has been especially dangerous of late having led the Dragons in scoring over the last three games. With two high-end scorers Curran and Pearson, redshirt junior point guard Meghan Creighton s game is the perfect complement to her fellow linemates. Creighton comes in averaging just 4.2 PPG but also sits tied for 23rd in the nation with 5.9 APG. Creighton s struggles shooting the ball this season (27.3 FG%, 25 3FG%) has limited her ability to score but her ball-handling and 3.3 assist/turnover ratio (10th NCAA) has benefitted her team significantly. Logging a team-leading 32.8 MPG, Creighton is the key that ignites everything behind the Drexel offense. SERIES HISTORY VS. DREXEL These two sides met for the first time last season as Quinnipiac walked away with a dominating home win on Dec. 17, Playing without Creighton, the Dragons struggled on the offensive end shooting just 29.8 percent from the floor to go along with 17 turnovers. Pearson (11 points; 4-9 FG, 3-5 3FG) and Curran (10 points; 4-10 FG, 2-4 3FG) did have some success as they led the Dragons in scoring in last season s meeting. Meanwhile, the Bobcats shot 50 percent from the floor and hit 12-of-27 three-point attempts while racking up 25 assists on 27 made baskets throughout the 24-point victory. BREAKING THROUGH After struggling through a difficult two-game losing skid wherein the Bobcats shot a combined 24.1 percent from the floor, including a record low 21.3 percent in a loss to Manhattan, Quinnipiac broke out in their last game with a shooting percentage of 38.7 percent (24-62 FG) at Northeastern. The 38.7 percent showing from the floor was good enough for the Bobcats second-highest single-game shooting percentage of the season. FINDING HER NICHE Brittany Johnson played the best game of her young career, tallying a career-high 12 points including six rebounds and two assists in a victory at Northeastern. Her 12-point night came on 4-of-10 shooting while she also doubled her career output with two made three-pointers in the win. After scoring just 10 points in the first five games of the year, Johnson has scored 32 points (8.0 PPG) in the last four contests to rank second on the team in scoring behind leading scorer Maria Napolitano. THERE S AR-YN McCLURE S SAILS Aryn McClure was heavily involved in the Bobcats' attack, racking up nine points, four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in just 16 minutes on Dec. 9 at Northeastern. McClure also led the team in shots (12) for the first time in her young career. McClure s play on the offensive end has been as a big key to success as the Bobcats are undefeated in the two games in which McClure has scored more than five points. LOCK-DOWN DEFENSE The Bobcats' defensive play shined as Northeastern s leading scorer Samantha DeFreese was held to just nine points (3-9 FG) in 33 minutes. DeFreese, who was the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, was coming in averaging 27 PPG over her last two contests. The owner of the nation's 13th-best shooting percentage (60.7) heading into play, was held to her second-worst single-game field goal percentage of the season at 33.3 percent. FORCING THE ISSUE Even with all the struggles coming on the offensive end in a loss to Manhattan, the Bobcat defense continued its stellar play as the Jaspers were forced into 35 turnovers while Quinnipiac came up with 20 steals in the losing effort. The 35 forced turnovers for Quinnipiac are the most by a Bobcat opponent in a single-game in the Bobcats' Div. I program history (since ). The 20 steals also marked the most for Quinnipiac in a single-game since totaling 21 against Bryant on Feb. 25, ON THE REBOUND Quinnipiac snagged a season-high 30 offensive rebounds in the Bobcats loss to Manhattan. The discrepancy in offensive rebounds (30-14) led to a 21-5 advantage in second chance points for Quinnipiac. The 30 offensive boards also marked the most for the Bobcats in a single-game since grabbing 31 against Stony Brook on Nov. 29, Quinnipiac University Quick Facts General Information Location Hamden, Conn. 4 MAMA MARIA MAMA MARIA! In six games since returning from injury, Maria Napolitano has caught fire averaging a team-leading 14.5 points in just 23.7 minutes per game. In those six games, Napolitano has racked up 87 points, which is nearly three times as many as the next-closest Bobcat (35 points) in that span. She most-recently lit it up with 19 points in 22 minutes, shooting 5-of-8 overall, 3-of-4 from deep and 6-of-8 at the free throw line while grabbing a career-high eight rebounds at Northeastern. SCORING ASSASSIN Maria Napolitano has been scoring at a fever pitch in her seven games this season as she is averaging 12.4 PPG but her average of 23.8 PPG/40 minutes ranks as the fifth-highest in the entire MAAC. Due to her playing just over 20 minutes per game, her points per game average sits tied for 10th in the MAAC. Out of all the players in the country, Napolitano sits tied for 93rd in the nation in points per 40 minutes. BENCH PRESSED INTO ACTION Quinnipiac s patented Gold Rush strategy of subbing five players in-and-out at a time has paid strong dividends this season as the Bobcats are outscoring their opponents in bench points this season (30.3 bench points per game). The dominance has only magnified in the Bobcats five wins this season as Quinnipiac outscored Hartford, Holy Cross, Temple, Vermont and Northeastern by a combined score of The largest bench scoring margin just came when Quinnipiac s substitutes outscored Marist s reserves, 32-5, on December 3. TURNOVERS TURNING INTO POINTS Quinnipiac s depth and pressure defense paid dividends against Manhattan, forcing the Jaspers into 35 turnovers for the game including 21 in the first half alone. On the season, the Bobcats are forcing an average of 21.9 turnovers per game which has translated into 136 points off turnovers (15.1 per game) through nine games this season. HIGH MAJOR UPSET Quinnipiac s win over Temple out of the American Athletic Conference signifies another huge step for the program as the victory marks the fourth win for the Bobcats over a high-major in program history. The three other high-major victories included wins over Alabama, Minnesota and Syracuse but the Bobcats win over the Owls marks two straight seasons in which Quinnipiac has scored a victory over a high-major program (Alabama; W, 73-66; Nov. 30, 2014). TAKING THE TOP THREAT AWAY A huge key behind the Bobcats success this season has been on the defensive end, specifically against the opponent s top scoring threat. In four games this season, Quinnipiac has shut down Hartford s Deanna Mayza (nine points; 3-14 FG, six turnovers), Holy Cross Raquel Scott (seven points; 3-6 FG), Temple s Feyonda Fitzgerald (13 points; 5-17 FG, four turnovers) and Northeastern s Samantha DeFreese (nine points; 3-9 FG). All four of which came in as the team s leading scorer (Fitzgerald 4th NCAA in scoring) and all were held at least seven points below their season averages. TEMPLE TEMPING EXPECTATIONS The closing 30+ seconds where three Owl shots went begging was indicative of the entire game which saw Quinnipiac lock down Temple's high-flying backcourt duo of Fitzgerald and Butts. Coming into the game averaging a combined 45.7 points, 10 rebounds, 9.7 assists and 3.0 steals per game, Fitzgerald (13 points, 5-17 FG, 1-5 3FG, three rebounds, four turnovers) and Butts (seven points, 3-10 FG, 1-6 3FG, one rebound, three turnovers) were held to season-lows across the board including 20 points on 8-for-27 shooting (29.6 percent) and 2-for-11 from three (18.2 percent) with four rebounds and seven turnovers. HOME SWEET HOME Quinnipiac s victory over Temple prolonged the Bobcats dominance at home, extended the team s winning streak to 17 straight at the TD Bank Sports Center. The 17-game unbeaten streak tied the longest such streak in program history, matching the winning streak that extended from the NEC Championship season into the campaign. Since the start of the season, Head Coach Tricia Fabbri s squad now stands at 42-5 (89.6 win percentage) in games played at home. EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE One of the key stats from the Bobcats 13-point home win over Holy Cross is seen in the second chance points category as Quinnipiac converted 17 offensive rebounds into 20 second chance points. On the other end, Holy Cross was limited to just nine offensive rebounds and two second chance points for the game, giving Quinnipiac the 20-2 edge in the statistical category. TIME TO MANZ UP Stepping into a starring role for the first time in her career, Morgan Manz finishing with a team-high 15 points with six rebounds, four assists and two blocks in a teamhigh 29 minutes against Hartford. Manz established new career highs in points, assists, blocks and minutes in the victory while it marked the first time in her threeyear career in which she led the team in scoring. McCLURE MAKING HISTORY Aryn McClure s monster game in the team s win over Hartford (10 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 27 minutes) made history as she became the fastest Bobcat in program history to record her first career doubledouble (two games). 5 Driscoll who notched 20 points and 15 rebounds four games into her Bobcat career on Nov. 24, B-MART OPEN FOR BUSINESS In what hopefully marks the start of many more to come, Quinnipiac s freshman Brittany Martin became just the second Bobcat in program history to take home MAAC Rookie of the Week honors on Nov. 16. Martin flashed tons of scoring potential in the Bobcats season opener as she pumped in 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting, 2-of-4 from three and 6-of-6 at the free throw line in a team-high 29 minutes of action. She joins Adily Martucci, who won the award back on Dec. 30, 2013, as the lone two Bobcats to take home the individual honor. PAULA PUTTING IN WORK It s a particularly rare feat for a player to snag double digit rebounds in less than 20 minutes played but it s even more impressive for the player to do so in her first career game. Paula Strautmane (10 rebounds in 19 minutes) posted quite the debut on the boards as she became the first player in program history to grab 10+ rebounds in less than 20 minutes in her first career game. She also became the first player in Quinnipiac s Div. I history to grab at least 10 rebounds in her first career game, the next closest Bobcat grabbed eight rebounds in their first collegiate appearance. DEFENSE-FIRST Quinnipiac s harassing pressure defense forced Army West Point into multiple mistakes as the Black Knights committed 16 turnovers for the game, including 10 in the first quarter alone. The Bobcats Gold Rush unit that saw 12 players enter the game and 10 compile at least 10 minutes of playing time, forced a usually surehanded Army team into many mistakes. The Black Knights team committed 16+ turnovers just three times in 31 games last season SEASON PREVIEW FOUR-MAN CAPTAIN CREW As voted on by the players and staff members of the Quinnipiac women s basketball team, four captains Maria Napolitano, Katie Carroll, Adily Martucci and Carly Fabbri will lead the Bobcats as they look to defend their 2015 MAAC Championship and advance to a fourth straight conference championship game. The announcement places each player with an official leadership title for the first time in their respective collegiate careers. This four-player group of captains is the largest in head coach Tricia Fabbri s 21-year coaching career and also the first without departed seniors Gillian Abshire and Jasmine Martin, who served as co-captains for three straight years since the campaign. YOUNG BLOOD Quinnipiac ranks 5th in the country in terms of who is the youngest team in the nation. Based on the fewest combined career starts on the roster at their current school, Quinnipiac ranks in the Top 5 in the country. Youngest Teams in the Country School Combined Career Starts 1. Marquette 9 2. Indiana State Louisiana Tech Portland State Quinnipiac Cal-State Northridge 26 MAKING UP FOR LOST PLAYERS Quinnipiac looks to make up for the loss of six seniors including all five members of the Bobcats starting lineup in To start the season, Quinnipiac needs to make up for the loss of 68.2 percent of the team s total points from last season, 76.1 perfect of the team s total assists and 61.3 percent of the team s total rebounds. In combination, Quinnipiac is losing the most production (percentage-based) of any team in the MAAC. SHARP SHOOTING SENIOR SENSATION Maria Napolitano, the 2015 MAAC Sixth Player of the Year, is coming off the best season of her career averaging 6.9 points across 16.3 minutes per game for the Bobcats last year. Appearing in all 35 games off the bench, she led the Bobcats Gold Rush unit off the bench, leading a Quinnipiac team in bench scoring that led the MAAC in total bench points (906) as well as bench points per game (25.9 PPG) in Primarily a threat from behind the arc, Napolitano finished third on the team in three-pointers per game (1.4) while she enters her senior season ranked seventh all-time at Quinnipiac in career made three-pointers (112). MORE MINUTES FOR MARTUCCI Adily Martucci combined with Napolitano in to make for a dangerous onetwo punch for the Bobcats coming off the bench. She posted career-highs across the board as a redshirt sophomore last season, averaging 6.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.8 steals in 14.5 minutes per game. Her 40.1 field goal percentage ( FG) last season led all Quinnipiac guards who appeared in at least 80 percent of the team s games while she also finished second among the backcourt members in three-point percentage (37.7) and free throw percentage (75.6). KATIE S COMEBACK Itching to get back to the floor this season, Katie Carroll played an integral role as a behind-the-scenes voice for the Bobcats throughout the campaign. Having to miss the entire season due to an elbow injury last year, Carroll returns as a senior in itching to make an impact for a depleted roster that is losing six seniors off a trip to the NCAA Tournament and MAAC Championship. LET S SEE IF THE SHEWAN FITS Another talented returner who figures to see a major bump in minutes this year is sophomore Sarah Shewan. As a rookie, Shewan averaged 3.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.5 blocks and 0.4 steals in 11.8 minutes per game. She led the Bobcats, shooting 80 percent (32-40 FT) from the free throw line last season and posted solid averages of 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in the Bobcats 20-game MAAC slate. BUILDING BIGGER ROLES Three more Bobcats Morgan Manz (1.6 PPG in ), Brittany Johnson (1.9 PPG) and Carly Fabbri (1.4 PPG) all figure to get a boost in minutes this season. As a freshman, Manz finished second on the team in field goal percentage (50 FG%) and tallied the best three-point field goal percentage (43.2 3FG%) on the team. In Johnson s rookie year, she shot 45 percent from the floor and averaged the third-most PPG per 40 minutes of play (14.4) of all the Bobcats nonstarters in Fabbri is the lone Bobcat underclassmen captain while she has been one of the highest-scoring Bobcats in the preseason. Her 57 points guided the Bobcats and led the way to Quinnipiac s second NCAA Tournament berth in program history. ANOTHER NATIONAL POSTSEASON APPEARANCE Quinnipiac s second trip to the NCAA Tournament in marked the fourth straight national postseason appearance for the Bobcats and the fifth in program history. The Bobcats earned its first national postseason appearance with a trip to Iona in the 2008 WNIT Tournament and then made a second WNIT Tournament appearance in 2012 against Temple. The first NCAA Tournament berth came in with the NEC Championship victory in 2013 as the Bobcats advanced as a No. 13 seed to play at No. 4 Maryland. In , Quinnipiac earned their first at-large WNIT berth and played Villanova. ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS Quinnipiac became the first-ever MAAC school to finish 20-0 in conference play. In the MAAC s second season since moving to the 20-game conference format, the Quinnipiac Bobcats also became the sixth squad to go undefeated in league play in MAAC history (est. 1980). Marist (3 times; 18-0 in 07-08, 10-11, 12-13) and Saint Peter s (2 times; 14-0 in 96-97, 5-0 in 81-82) are the only other teams to have gone undefeated in MAAC play. MAAC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS Quinnipiac s victory over Iona (2/22/15) clinched the MAAC Regular Season Championship for the Bobcats. The conference regular season title was the third in program history and second in three years as the Bobcats won the NEC regular season championship in the campaign as well as BREAKING THROUGH For the first time in program history, Quinnipiac received four votes in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 National Poll and also received two votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll as released the week of March 16, In addition, the Bobcats were ranked No. 10 in the ESPNW Mid-Major poll on Feb. 18, marking the first time Quinnipiac has been ranked in the nationwide mid-major poll. Also, the Bobcats were ranked a program-best No. 6 in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll as announced on March 10. MID-MAJOR MOVEMENT Quinnipiac continues to earn national respect in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll as the Bobcats enter the season with a ranking of No. 11 with 404 points. Entering their 19th straight week ranked in the mid-major poll, the Bobcats No. 11 ranking and 404 points both establish new program records in the mid-major poll to start a season. SUPER SENIOR CLASS Quinnipiac used the same starting five lineup of Samantha Guastella, Jasmine Martin, Val Driscoll, Nikoline Ostergaard and Gillian Abshire for all 35 games this season. As a unit, the Bobcats five starters all finished their final collegiate season and led the QU offense averaging 53.2 PPG while shooting 47.1 FG%, FG% and 76.3 FT% in 20 MAAC games. In addition, the five starters tallied 296 assists against just 117 turnovers, creating an assist-to-turnover ratio of The starting five Mid Major National Poll College Insider (FVP) Record Points 1. An even more incredible number to consider is the Bobcats starters compiled these impressive stats with a combined minutes per game average of 23.0 which stands at 3.9 less minutes per game than opponents in DEFENSIVE INTENSITY The Bobcats season was all about the offense according to the casual viewer but a closer look reveals the team s defensive approach may just be the true determining factor behind all the success. Armed with the seventh-best scoring defense (64.5 points allowed per game) in the MAAC, a closer look reveals Quinnipiac s points allowed per possession (0.84) was the lowest in the conference. With QU playing an uptempo style offense, the difference in statistics originates in the style of play leading to more possessions for each side. The only other school in the nation that joined the Bobcats in the Top 20 rankings for each aforementioned statistic was the 2015 NCAA Champion UConn Huskies. PICK UP THE PACE Quinnipiac s offense operated with plenty of pace last season as the Bobcats were outscored in fast break points just six times in (Notre Dame, Saint Joseph s, Niagara, Saint Peter s, Iona, Monmouth and Oklahoma). In the 28 remaining games, the Bobcats have compiled a 26-2 record and have outscored their opponents by a combined score of The Bobcats peak performance came against Drexel (12/18) as Quinnipiac outscored the Dragons, 26-3, in fast break points. That total has translated directly into numbers offensively as Quinnipiac scored 367 points (20.4 PPG) in the last 18 games off turnovers. HIT THE BENCH Quinnipiac s Gold Rush strategy to sub five players in-andout of all 35 games last season paid strong dividends in the bench scoring category. The single-game total also stands tall in the history of the conference as Quinnipiac s 64 rebounds are tied for the third-most ever by a MAAC institution in a single-game. SECOND HALF SURGE The Bobcats ESPN3 home game against Fairfield (1/15) played out as a complete tale of two halves as the Bobcats shot just 27.6 percent (8-for-29) in the first half compared to a blistering 68.6 percent (24-for- 35) in the second stanza including a paltry 10-for-11 (90.9 percent) from behind the arc. The only other team in the nation to earn a ranking in the Top 20 of each preceding statistical category was the 2015 NCAA Champions UConn. In , Fabbri guided the tutelage of four All-MAAC performers including Samantha Guastella (First Team), Val Driscoll (Second Team), Gillian Abshire (Third Team) and Nikoline Ostergaard (Third Team). In the history of the MAAC, only two teams prior to the Bobcats had four players earn All-Conference laurels, excluding the inclusion of the All-Rookie Team. The successful campaign came on the heels of a season of firsts in for the Quinnipiac women s basketball program, which featured a Northeast Conference Championship title. Fabbri led the Bobcats to their first 30-win season in program history, also an NEC first as well, which included a perfect 18-0 record through the regular season. Quinnipiac garnered the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, making their 13th NEC Tournament appearance in March The Bobcats defeated Bryant, Mount St. Mary s and then Saint Francis University in the title game to earn their first NCAA Tournament bid since joining the NCAA s highest division. The past four seasons has been filled with nothing but success for Quinnipiac as Fabbri has guided her team to a (.776 win percentage) overall record from The.776 win percentage over the last four seasons has Quinnipiac sitting tied for 19th in the nation, tied for 8th among mid-majors and 4th in the Northeast region. Fabbri has also garnered votes in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll as well as high acclaim in the various national mid-major polls. Fabbri s transformative season redefined the record books at Quinnipiac as her squad went 31-4 (.886 win percentage) overall and 20-0 in conference play on their way to winning the 2015 MAAC Championship and earning a spot into the NCAA Tournament. Fabbri led the Bobcats to their most wins (31) in a single-season in program history as well as their second 30-win campaign in the last three seasons. Quinnipiac became the first MAAC school in conference history (est. 1980) to finish 20-0 in conference play and just the sixth squad to go undefeated in league play. As the No. 1 seed in the 2015 MAAC Tournament, Quinnipiac upended Monmouth, Siena and ultimately the nine-time defending MAAC Champ Marist to claim their first MAAC Championship. Her record-breaking season earned Fabbri the 2015 MAAC Coach of the Year award on a unanimous vote by her pears. Throughout the season, Quinnipiac received unparalleled recognition in the national polls as Fabbri s squad earned four votes in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 National Poll, totaled two votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll, ranked No. 10 in the ESPNW Mid-Major Poll and were ranked No. 6 in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll. During the season, Quinnipiac achieved a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) rating as high as No. 23 in the nation, good enough for a program record. While her team also played the No. 1 nationally-ranked team (Notre Dame) for the first time in program history. Her team also rolled through the regular season with a 21-game winning streak which ranked as the sixth-longest unbeaten streak in the nation throughout The Quinnipiac Women s Basketball Coaching Staff

10 Deservingly so, Fabbri was named the 2013 NEC Coach of the Year by her peers and also accepted the Sterling House Spirit Award at the annual celebrity breakfast in Stratford, Conn. The Bobcats also received votes in the National AP Polls for the first time in program history. On selection Monday, Quinnipiac turned some heads with its spectacular season and garnered the No. 13 seed in the NCAA Tournament s Bridgeport Region. The Bobcats drew the No. 4 seed Maryland and headed to College Park, Md. at the Comcast Center for their opening round clash. Quinnipiac went toe-to-toe with the Atlantic Coast Conference power, but ultimately fell to ACC Player of the Year Alyssa Thomas and the Terrapin in a game that was televised nationally on ESPN2. Quinnipiac was one of eight NCAA Division I teams to win every game in the months of January and February, giving them the fifth longest winning streak (22) in the country (at the time). The Bobcats 30-3 overall record was tops in the New England Region, producing a higher winning percentage than the UConn Huskies the eventual 2013 National Champions. The success of the season came after a tremendous campaign in Fabbri led the Bobcats to their third 20-plus win season, their 12th consecutive Northeast Conference Tournament appearance and a second trip to the Women s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Quinnipiac fell short to Atlantic-10 opponent Temple in the first round, after advancing to the Semifinals of the NEC Tournament. Along with the team s success, came individual success as well. Felicia Barron was named the Northeast Conference s Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-NEC First Team after leading the nation in steals throughout the season. Joining Barron with end-of-the-season honors was Jasmine Martin, who was named to the All-NEC Rookie Team. Quinnipiac earned its 11th straight NEC Tournament appearance under Fabbri s tutelage in , behind a stellar senior campaign from Courtney Kaminski. Kaminski was named to the All-Northeast Conference First Team, after leading the team in scoring while ranking eighth in the NEC.
