Quinnipiac reentered the National Mid-Major Top 25 Poll on Tuesday as the Bobcats received the No. 25 ranking, standing as the lone MAAC school ranked in the national mid-major poll. Quinnipiac has committed fewer turnovers than their opponents in 24-of-25 games. On the season, the Bobcats are forcing an average of 20.7 turnovers per game which ranks 19th in the nation. That advantage has translated into 464 points off turnovers (18.6 per game) through 25 games this season. Quinnipiac continues to thrive at closing games out as the Bobcats are 14-0 this season when leading at halftime. Dating back to the start of last season, the Bobcats are a staggering 38-0 in games in which Quinnipiac is leading at the half (24-0 in ). Quinnipiac's 13-game win streak is currently tied for the seventh-longest active win streak in the nation this season. Only UConn (25), Colorado State (20), Notre Dame (18), Florida Gulf Coast (16), Arkansas State (15) and BYU (15) hold longer active win streaks. Baylor (13) and New Mexico State (13) are tied with the Bobcats. Aryn McClure picked up her MAAC-leading fourth Rookie of the Week award on Monday as the Bobcats have now won seven total Rookie of the Week honors this season including the last five straight which sets a new MAAC record. McClure's week was highlighted by a monster 22 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks in a win over Iona, marking the most points for a QU freshman in a singlegame since Courtney Kaminski netted 23 back on Feb. 27, 2007 against Sacred Heart. Paula Strautmane's vastly improved play is reflected in the stats as she is behind only McClure (11.5 PPG) for the team-lead in scoring over the 13-game win streak at 11.4 PPG while shooting 47.8 FG%, FG% and 74.4 FT%. She has added 6.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 blocks in just 24.3 minutes per ga QUINNIPIAC BOBCATS PROBABLE STARTING LINEUP G G G Maria Napolitano Brittany Johnson Carly Fabbri MAAC Women s Basketball Standings PPG RPG APG MPG PPG RPG APG MPG PPG RPG APG MPG MAAC Iona Quinnipiac Marist Fairfield Manhattan Siena Monmouth Canisius Rider Niagara Saint Peter's W-L GB PCT W-L Sophomore 5-11 Senior 5-9 PCT STRK W1 W13 L2 W8 L1 L6 W1 W3 W2 L9 L F F 25 4 Sophomore Aryn McClure Paula Strautmane PPG RPG BPG MPG PPG RPG APG MPG Freshman Freshman

3 ON THE ROAD AGAIN The Quinnipiac women s basketball team (18-8, 13-3 MAAC) will take its 13-game winning streak on the road for a Sunday tilt against the Rider Broncs (7-19, 4-13 MAAC) at 2 PM from Alumni Gymnasium. The last time these two sides faced off was actually a very memorable one for the Bobcats as Quinnipiac scored a victory that jumpstarted what has turned into one of the longest unbeaten streaks in the nation. SCOUTING THE BRONCS Rider (7-19, 4-13 MAAC) has started to hit their stride in the last few weeks as the Broncs have won three of their last four games after struggling with a disappointing 1-12 record to start league play. Sunday s matchup also serves as Senior Day for the Broncs as a pair of seniors will be playing in their final game at the Alumni Gymnasium. Rider s offense has been a problem spot throughout as the Broncs average a mere 57.9 points per game while allowing 66.2 points per game on defense. The Broncs rank at or near the bottom in nearly every statistical category in the MAAC but in MAAC-only games, Rider has hit their free throws at a 69.8 percent clip (4th MAAC) but also rank last in three-point percentage defense (36.6) as well as blocked shots per game (2.2). Robin Perkins is undoubtedly the player to watch for the Broncs as she comes in ranking third in the MAAC in scoring at 15 PPG but her field goal percentage (33.3) and three-point field goal percentage (24.4) are nowhere near the upper echelon of the conference. One thing you cannot do with Perkins is allow her to go to the free throw line as she shoots at a 73.1 percent clip while having made 98 free throws this season which stands twice as many as the next-closest Rider player in that stat category. Perkins also tend to catch and shoot quite frequently as she averages less than one assist in 31.3 minutes per game. Julia Duggan is a solid player in the low post for Rider as she is averaging 8.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 42.5 percent from the floor. Quinnipiac limited Duggan to just two points on 0-of-5 shooting from the floor in their first meeting this season. Kamila Hoskova is a player to watch from the outside as she comes in shooting 34.8 percent at the three-point line while averaging 7.9 points in just 21 minutes per game. SERIES HISTORY VS. RIDER This will be the seventh all-time meeting between Quinnipiac and Rider. The two matchups last season were very memorable for the Bobcats as Quinnipiac scored a victory at home on Feb. 7, which stands as the largest margin of victory (42 points) in the program's Div. I history. Later that season, Quinnipiac trounced Rider on the road with a victory highlighted by Gillian Abshire matching her own single-game program record with 14 assists in just 18 minutes of action. The Bobcat lead swelled to as many as 52 points in the second half before finishing off what stands as the third-highest margin of victory (38 points) in the Bobcats' Div. I history. Overall, Quinnipiac comes in with a 6-0 all-time record including five straight wins since the Bobcats joined the MAAC. SEVENTH HEAVEN Credit the Bobcats depth of scoring this season as one of the team s biggest keys to success. With seven players averaging at least six points per game, the Bobcats lead the conference in that category as the next-closest teams Monmouth and Manhattan each have six players netting at least six points per game. Maria Napolitano s team-leading 10.3 PPG also stands as the second-lowest scoring average for her respective team s top scorer. Canisius Crystal Porter (10.0 PPG) averages the fewest points per game of any team leading scorer in the MAAC. WINNING WAYS Quinnipiac s win over Iona increases the Bobcats win streak to 13 straight which is currently tied for the seventh-longest active win streak in the nation this season. Only UConn (25) Colorado State (20), Notre Dame (18), Florida Gulf Coast (16), Arkansas State (15) and BYU (15) hold longer active win streaks than the Bobcats. Quinnipiac s 13-game uptick is tied with two other teams including Baylor (13) and New Mexico State (13). AWARD WEEK FOR ARYN Aryn McClure was busy racking up three individual weekly awards this week after averaging 18 points on 61.5 percent shooting with eight rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Bobcats. McClure started the week with her fourth MAAC Rookie of the Week honor this season, passing Siena s Jackie Benitez for the most rookie weekly honors of any player in the conference. She followed with the College Sports Madness MAAC Player of the Week, becoming the first Bobcat to take home that award this season and concluded with a prestigious National Freshman of the Week award handed out by the USBWA. McClure s national rookie of the week award marks the first time in program history that a Bobcat has taken home the honor while she also represents the first player from a mid-major program to win the weekly award this season. SHOOTING HER WAY OUT OF STRUGGLES Maria Napolitano broke out of her shooting struggles with 14 points in back-to-back against Saint Peter s (2/14) and Marist (2/18). In the last two games, Napolitano has gone 10-of-23 (43.5 percent) from the floor and 7-of-14 (50 percent) from three. The consecutive double digit efforts for Napolitano represented the first time she reached double figures in two straight games since Dec against Northeastern and Drexel (15 games ago). In her four games prior to the breakout performance against the Peacocks, Napolitano averaged 3.3 PPG on 4-of-27 shooting (14.8 FG%) and 3-of-17 from three. ONE MORE WIN With Senior Day just on the horizon for the Bobcats on Friday night against Fairfield, Quinnipiac s four-year senior class of Maria Napolitano and Katie Carroll just picked up their 100th win on Thursday against Marist. The team currently owns a mark of (.787 win percentage) since the start of the season. If that win percentage were to stand at the season-end, the Bobcats senior class members will graduate as the winningest class in program history. The Bobcats senior class racked up a record of (77.6 win percentage) and is currently the winningest four-year class in program history. FRESHMAN PHENOM Aryn McClure was incredible in the win over Iona (2/12) and the stats certainly reflect her stellar outing as she compiled a career and game-high 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor to go along with nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks in 37 minutes. McClure's first career 20+ scoring night also makes her the first Bobcat freshman to score at least 20 points in a single-game since Courtney Kaminski went for 23 against Sacred Heart on Feb. 27, FRESHMAN PHENOM(S) Not to be outdone was the effort of Strautmane also on the interior against Iona (2/12) as she tallied 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting with eight rebounds, career-high five assists and three steals in a career-high 35 minutes. Quinnipiac s freshman duo Strautmane and McClure combined for 58.1 percent of the Bobcats' points as they compiled 36 points on 16-of-25 shooting (64 percent) with 17 rebounds, eight assists, four blocks and four steals as the rookie duo silenced what could be the MAAC Player of the Year frontrunner in Joy Adams. KEEPING JOY OFF THE BOARDS In what only be described as a total team effort throughout, Iona s Joy Adams was held to 14 points (5-11 FG) with three turnovers and just seven rebounds. The all-time leading rebounder in MAAC history (1,506 rebounds) and nation's sixth-leading rebounder (12.6 per game) heading in was held to her fewest rebound total since the second game of the season where she grabbed six against Virginia Commonwealth. 4 conference games wherein she didn't grab at least 10 rebounds while it also breaks a streak of seven straight games with at least 12 rebounds for the star forward. BIG MOVERS IN THE MAAC Since joining the MAAC in , Quinnipiac has reeled off a record of (.836 winning percentage) in all games against MAAC opponents and 45-9 (.833) in regular season MAAC games, both records that currently lead all teams in the MAAC. The Bobcats just recently surpassed longtime conference power Marist who owns a mark of (.810) against conference foes over the last three seasons and stand (.804) in regular season MAAC play. TERRIFIC AT TD BANK The TD Bank Sports Center, home of the Quinnipiac Bobcats, has long been one of the most difficult arenas to play at in the country. Since the season, Quinnipiac owns a record of 50-5 (.909 win percentage) in games played at home. In just the last two seasons (since ), Quinnipiac owns a mark of 25-1 (.962). That mark easily ranks as the best in the MAAC while the Bobcats 14-0 mark at home in made them one of just 14 teams in the nation to finish with an undefeated home record. ROOKIE OF THE WEEK RUN The Quinnipiac women s basketball freshmen have been on a complete tear when it comes to MAAC Rookie of the Week awards this season. Aryn McClure most recently picked up her fourth weekly rookie honor on Monday. Combined with Paula Strautmane s back-to-back honors in the weeks prior to McClure s award this week, the Bobcats have now won a MAAC record five straight rookie of the week awards and seven cumulative honors for the season. Prior to the Bobcats record-breaking streak, the last time a team had four straight rookie of the week winners came back in when Iona s Joy Adams claimed four straight two different times in her rookie season while Quinnipiac s three total players who ve won rookie of the week honors (Strautmane, McClure and Brittany Martin) is the most since Siena had three rookies win weekly awards back in McCLURE S MOXY Aryn McClure went to work in the Bobcats win over Marist (2/18) as she posted 10 points (3-5 FG), six rebounds and three blocks in 23 minutes. Her impact in the scoring department has been one of the biggest keys to success for the Bobcats all season as the team is 8-1 when she reaches double figures in scoring and 14-1 when she nets at least six points. CAN IT CARLY! Helping lead the way for the Bobcats in a win over Marist (2/18) was sophomore Carly Fabbri who posted five assists against one turnover in 30 minutes. Just four games removed from notching two straight career-high 15-point efforts, Fabbri either tallied or matched a new single-game career-high in three straight games prior to Iona (2/12). In the last six games, Fabbri is averaging 8.8 points per game on 13-of-25 (52 percent) from three-point range to go along with 4.2 assists and 2.5 rebounds. Fabbri s production on offense has been a big key to success as the Bobcats are 12-2 this season when she scores at least six points. STEADY PLAY AT THE POINT Carly Fabbri has settled into the Bobcats point guard position nicely as she has racked up 60 assists to 21 turnovers this season for the best assist/turnover ratio in the MAAC and tied for 15th in the nation at Fabbri has now racked up 38 assists (3.5 per game) against just eight turnovers in her last 11 games for an assist/turnover ratio of She has also gone turnover-free in seven of those 11 games. PURE DOMINATION After defeating Siena (94-52 and 69-59), Monmouth (85-58), Saint Peter s (66-49 and 65-53), Niagara (70-52), Iona (62-61) and Marist (76-71) the Bobcats have outscored their last eight opponents by a combined score of (+132; per game). Quinnipiac is averaging 73.4 points while shooting 43.1 percent overall and 38.8 percent from three while holding teams to just 56.9 points per game on 35.9 percent shooting and 31.6 percent from behind the arc. PEAKING PAULA The two-time MAAC Rookie of the Week Paula Strautmane was dominant in the low post again with 17 points (8-15 FG), four rebounds and two assists against Marist (2/18). After not reaching double figures for the first 13 games of her career, Strautmane has scored 10+ points in eight of the last 12 games overall. In those last 12 games, Strautmane is averaging 11.7 points (46.8 FG%), 7.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists in just 24.7 minutes per game. SURGING PAST SIENA Quinnipiac s home win over MAAC-leading Siena (1/24) was significant on many levels as the 42-point victory tied for the third-largest margin of victory in Quinnipiac s Div. I history (since ). During the season, Quinnipiac defeated Brown (85-41) and Wagner (79-35) both by 44-point margins which stands as the largest victory since entering the Div. I ranks. Siena was held to just 28.8 percent from the floor and 7.1 percent from behind the arc in what also stands as the largest margin of defeat for the Saints to a MAAC opponent in their program history. McCLURE S MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Three different Bobcats Aryn McClure (4), Paula Strautmane (2) and Brittany Martin have tallied at least one MAAC Rookie of the Week award this season. Quinnipiac's seven total MAAC Rookie of the Week honors puts them atop the MAAC for the most cumulative weekly rookie awards this season. The Siena Saints is the last team in the MAAC to have three different rookie of the week honorees (Meghan Donohue, Emia Willingham, Brianna Logan). ARYN IT OUT A dominating home win over Siena featured another standout performance from Aryn McClure as she finished 7-of-8, including 6-of-6 to start the game, while also going 4-of-5 at the free throw line on her way to a game-high 18 points. She added 11 rebounds in her 30 minutes of action to give her a double-double for the third time this season and second time in a three game-span. There is no denying her impact of late as she is first on the team in scoring (11.5 PPG) while leading the team in rebounding (7.8 RPG) and tied for second in assists (33) during the Bobcats 13-game winning streak. THERE S AR-YN McCLURE S SAILS Aryn McClure has been dynamic on the both ends of the floor all season but she was incredible against Saint Peter s (2/2) finishing with eight points, 12 rebounds, three assists, three How the Bobcats Stack Up in New England Win % of New England s NCAA Div. 5 blocks and three steals in 24 minutes. McClure s all-around play has been vital to the Bobcats success as she is the only player in the MAAC to lead her respective team in minutes (24.9), rebounding (6.7) and blocks (42). FRESHMEN FOUNDATION Since the start of MAAC play, the role of freshmen Aryn McClure and Paula Strautmane has increased incrementally. In 16 MAAC games, McClure and Strautmane rank top five among freshmen in several categories including scoring, rebounding, assists, blocks and field goal percentage. McClure (9.9 PPG, 4th; 7.5 RPG, 1st; 2.1 APG, 4th; 1.7 BPG, 1st; 46.0 FG%, 3rd) and Strautmane (10.1 PPG, 3rd; 6.2 RPG, 2nd; 2.3 APG, 2nd; 1.1 BPG, 2nd; 46.2 FG%, 2nd) have made several improvements in their respective games to build strong cases for All-MAAC recognition. GOOD POINT Quinnipiac dished out a season-high 25 assists on another season-high 32 made field goals while scoring a season-high 94 points in a home win over Siena (1/24). The 94-point night is tied for the fourth-most points scoring in a single-game since Quinnipiac joined the Div. I ranks while it also marks the first time the Bobcats have gone over 90 points in a game this season as the previous season-high was in a win at Canisius (1/17). In the last three seasons (since ), Quinnipiac has scored 90+ points six times, in the previous 15 seasons the Bobcats scored 90+ points just three times since joining Div. I. HITTING YOUR SHOTS A huge key in the Bobcats win over Niagara came at the three-point line as Quinnipiac went 6-of-14 from behind the arc. Just three games removed from draining a season-high 11 three-pointers against Monmouth, the Bobcats 42.9 percent showing against the Purple Eagles marked the fifth time Quinnipiac had shot over 40 percent from three in the last seven games after the Bobcats had gone under 40 percent from three in all 16 games to start the season. In , Quinnipiac stands with a record of 8-2 in games in which the Bobcats make at least eight three-pointers. STATS TRENDING THE RIGHT WAY Currently riding a season-high 13-game winning streak, Quinnipiac has outscored their opponents by a combined +182 points ( ) while scoring 70.7 PPG in that 13-game span. The Bobcats also hold a +90 edge in turnover margin which Quinnipiac has converted into a advantage in points off turnovers. Also during the win streak, Quinnipiac is shooting 42.3 percent as a team and 37.0 percent from the three-point line. One other important note is freshmen Aryn McClure (11.5 PPG) and Paula Strautmane (11.4 PPG) are the team s leading scorers while Morgan Manz is shooting a team-best 56.6 percent overall and 58.1 percent from behind the arc. MO MANZ, MORE PROBLEMS One of the most important players all season has been the play of Morgan Manz as the junior forward is leading the team in both field goal percentage (48.0) and three-point percentage (45.8). Currently leading the MAAC in three-point percentage, Manz would be among the nation s leaders in three-point percentage if she met the two made three-pointers per game minimum average (Manz averages 1.2 per game). If she were to average 2+ three s per game, Manz s 45.6 three-point percentage would put her 4th in the nation among all players in NCAA Div. I. PAINTED DOMINANCE When looking for an overriding trend in the Bobcats 13-game winning streak, look no further than points in the paint as Quinnipiac has averaged 27.2 points in the paint over the last 13 games. Throughout the current season, Quinnipiac has played to a 13-1 record in games wherein the Bobcats have scored at least 24 points in the paint. NATIONAL RANKS Quinnipiac ranks high on the national leaderboard in a couple important statistical categories this season as the Bobcats are ranked 18th in blocked shots per game (5.5), 19th in turnovers forced per game (20.68) and 12th in turnover margin (+5.52). In the 18 Bobcat victories this season, Quinnipiac has accumulated a +114 advantage in turnover margin while also accumulating a massive advantage in blocked shots. THE ULTIMATE CLOSERS Quinnipiac has enjoyed a great deal of success over the past two seasons when building a first half lead. Currently 14-0 on the season in games in which the Bobcats lead at halftime, the Bobcats are riding a 38-game winning streak since the start of the season in games that Quinnipiac holds the halftime lead. The last game in which Quinnipiac led at halftime and lost was the 2014 MAAC Championship to Marist. FINDING THEIR STRIDE Quinnipiac s offense, which had been a major struggle in the first 10 games of the season shooting just 31.7 percent ( FG) overall and 25.9 percent ( FG) from three while averaging 61.4 PPG, has picked up considerably over the last 15 games. Over the last 15 contests, Quinnipiac is shooting 42.0 percent ( FG) from the floor and 36.1 percent ( FG) from three while averaging 69.9 PPG. Prior to the 10-game uptick, Quinnipiac shot less than 40 percent from the floor in 9-of-10 games while the Bobcats have since gone 40+ percent in 10-of-15 games (66.7 percent) including a season-high 55.2 percent (32-58 FG) in a home win over Siena (1/24). MAJOR DONATIONS AT THE CHARITY STRIPE Two players not known for making their free throws (at least to start the season) Brittany Johnson and Aryn McClure have made profound improvements at the free throw line as the season has gone along. After starting the season 11-for-29 (37.9 percent) in the first 10 games of , Johnson has since made 25-of-33 free throws (75.8 percent) over a course of the last 15 games including a streak of 17 straight (most of any Bobcat this season) that was broken at Fairfield (1/22). McClure, meanwhile, started 6-for-21 (28.6 percent) through the first nine games of the season and has since gone 37-for-54 (68.5 percent) including a streak of 12 straight makes that was snapped at Canisius (1/17). POINTS FOR HER ARE A SHEW-AN One of the most improved Bobcats from a season ago is sophomore Sarah Shewan as she ranks third on the team in scoring at 8.3 PPG. She is tied with the Bobcats leading scorer Maria Napolitano in double digit scoring games this season (10) while she saw her season-long string of three straight 10+ scoring games end at Canisius (1/17). Shewan still has 10+ points in six of her last 12 games overall. In the last 13 games, Shewan is averaging 9.2 PPG while shooting 47.2 percent (42-89 FG) from the floor. A big key of late has been her focus on the interior as she has only attempted 18 three-pointers (6-18 3FG) in the last 13 games compared to 38 three-point attempts (3.2 per game) in the first 12 games of PASS-FIRST MARIA?! Napolitano also attempted her fewest field goals (seven) in a single-game in which she played at least 30 minutes in her career. She has since followed that up with 22 assists in the next 12 games to give her a total of 27 assists in the 13-game winning streak combined to put her fourth on the team. For the season, Napolitano is just one of four Bobcats to post more assists (40) this season than turnovers (31) while having played in at least 10 games. MAMA MARIA MAMA MARIA! In 22 games since returning from a three-game injury at the beginning of the season, Maria Napolitano has averaging a team-leading 10.8 points in 25.6 minutes per game. In those 22 games, Napolitano has racked up 237 points, which is 42 points more than the nextclosest Bobcat (195 points) in that span. ALL-AROUND OFFENSIVE WEAPON Morgan Manz has been an effective weapon on offense all season for the Bobcats as she leads the team in field goal percentage (48.0) as well as three-point field goal percentage (45.8). Now more than midway through the season, Manz joins Monmouth s Jasmine McCall (39.7 FG%, FG%) as the only players in the MAAC to lead their respective team in both field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage. LATVIAN LEADING THE CHARGE Paula Strautmane appears to be hitting her stride for the Bobcats as she has pumped in 165 points (11 PPG) in the last 15 games after scoring just 29 points (2.9 PPG) in the first 10 games of the season. She has scored her 165 points while shooting 61-of-127 (48 FG%) from the floor while also adding 6.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 blocks while seeing 24.9 MPG (much improved from her MPG average of 15.5 in the first 10 games of ). B-JOHN BOARDING AMONG THE BEST One of the biggest surprise on this Quinnipiac team has been the rebounding at the guard position out of Brittany Johnson. Through 25 games, Johnson sits third on the Bobcats with 44 offensive rebounds (1.76 per game) while also second among the Bobcat guards in rebounds per game (3.1). TAKING THE TOP THREAT AWAY Add Siena s Kollyns Scarbrough to the list of opposing top threats the Bobcats have taken away this season. In 11 games this season, Quinnipiac has shut down Hartford s Deanna Mayza (nine points; 3-14 FG, six turnovers), Holy Cross Raquel Scott (seven points; 3-6 FG), Temple s Feyonda Fitzgerald (13 points; 5-17 FG, four turnovers), Northeastern s Samantha DeFreese (nine points; 3-9 FG), FGCU s Kaneisha Atwater (13 points; 3-14 FG), Monmouth s Sarah Olson (four points; 1-5 FG, 0-3 3FG), Rider s Robin Perkins (0 points, 0-2 FG), Canisius Tiahana Mills (0 points, 0-8 FG, 0-3 3FG) and Margret Halfdanardottir (nine points; 3-7 FG, 1-4 3FG, three turnovers), Fairfield s Kelsey Carey (four points, 1-5 FG) and Siena s Kollyns Scarbrough (four points; 2-4 FG, three turnovers). All 11 of which came in as their respective team s leading scorer and 10-of-11 were held at least six points below their season averages. BENCH PRESSED INTO ACTION Quinnipiac s strategy of having 11 players average at least 16 MPG has paid strong dividends this season as the Bobcats are outscoring their opponents (+13 average margin) in bench points this season (28.2 bench points per game). The largest bench scoring margin just came when Quinnipiac s substitutes outscored Fairfield s reserves, 32-2, on January 22. SHE S BACKKKK Brittany Martin played a leading role for the Bobcats in a victory at Niagara (1/15) as she notched her most points in a single-game since the season-opener at Army West Point (14 games ago) where she tallied 16 points. With just 19 points in her previous eight games combined (2.4 PPG), Martin broke out hitting four of her five attempts from the floor and two-of-three from three to help account for her breakout on the offensive end. SHE GOT GAME Aryn McClure was a difference-marker against Canisius (1/8) as the freshman went for 10 points and 15 rebounds for her second career double-double. McClure s 15-rebound total stands as the most for a Quinnipiac freshman since Brittany McQuain 14 grabbed 16 boards against CCSU back on Feb. 11, 2011 (151 games ago). In addition, McClure s 15 rebounds against the Golden Griffins also stands as the most in a single-game for a MAAC freshman this season. MORGAN MANAGING THE OFFENSE Morgan Manz appears to be back to 100 percent as she played 25 minutes while finishing with 11 points (4-5 FG, 2-2 3FG) while matching her career-high with seven rebounds to go along with three assists and two steals against Rider (1/6). Her first 20+ minute game since returning from a three-game absence due to injury, Manz pumped in her third double digit scoring game of the season. Coming into this season with just two 10+ scoring games in the first 48 games of her career, Manz has tallied double digit scoring games in four of her 15 appearances this season. MARTUCCI S MAGIC Adily Martucci broke out of her scoring slump with a career-high 20 point effort at FGCU (12/28). Martucci, who scored 17 of her 20 points in the second half and overtime, finished 8-of-16 shooting and 3-for-9 from three. Martucci s 20-point outing was the first 20+ point game of her career and just the second double digit scoring output of the season. THE LATEST FAB-BRI Carly Fabbri was huge for the Bobcats as she contributed nine points (3-8 3FG) and four rebounds in a team-leading 42 minutes at FGCU (12/28). Her 42 minutes played are the most by a Bobcat in a single-game since Brittany McQuain was in for 44 minutes at LIU Brooklyn on Feb. 18, 2012 (118 games ago). ISO ARYN Aryn McClure netted her second MAAC Rookie of the Week honor on Jan.18 following her breakout week in leading the Bobcats to a road weekend sweep of Niagara and Canisius. McClure s highlight game came at Canisius (1/17) as she did her best LeBron James impression with 19 points (career-high), eight rebounds, eight assists (career-high), two steals and two blocks in 30 minutes. The eight assists for McClure rank as the second-most for a Quinnipiac freshman in the school s Div. I history while also representing the most for a Bobcat in a single-game this season. The only freshman to dish out more assists was Erin Kerner 09 in the season where she tallied nine at Wagner on Jan. 10, McClure's dominating performance against the Golden Griffins helped inspire a come-from-behind win as she either scored or assisted on 23-of-31 points over the course of 11:33 for the Bobcats in a third and fourth quarter to help seal the 12-point win. PRIME TIME (ROOKIE) PERFORMERS A huge key to the Bobcats victory at Canisius (1/17) was the play of freshmen Aryn McClure and Paula Strautmane. The two rookies took over the scoring load down the stretch as the duo either scored or assisted on 24-of-26 points for Quinnipiac from the later stages in the third quarter up until the final 1:30 of play. McClure finished the game with a career-high 19 points and eight assists while Strautmane also tallied 16 points. FENDING OFF FGCU Coming in with a home record of (93.4 win percentage) since , FGCU looked to have complete control of Quinnipiac but this gritty and young Bobcat squad proved themselves worthy in battling back from a 19-point first quarter deficit. Quinnipiac again played true to form in limiting the Eagles to just 33 points in the final 32:40 of regulation. In that span of 32:40, the Eagles were just 9-of-42 (21.4 percent) from the floor. For the game, FGCU finished shooting 34.9 percent (22-63 FG) while also coughing the ball up 19 times. ARYN S HONOR Quinnipiac freshman Aryn McClure was honored as the MAAC Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career on December 28 after her career-high 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two blocks at Drexel. McClure joined Brittany Martin as the second Bobcat rookie to win the MAAC weekly rookie award this season. Before , only Adily Martucci in 2013 was honored with a MAAC Rookie of the Week award. FORCING THE ISSUE Even with all the struggles coming on the offensive end in a loss to Manhattan, the Bobcat defense continued its stellar play as the Jaspers were forced into 35 turnovers while Quinnipiac came up with 20 steals in the losing effort. The 35 forced turnovers for Quinnipiac are the most by a Bobcat opponent in a single-game in the Bobcats' Div. I program history (since ). The 20 steals also marked the most for Quinnipiac in a single-game since totaling 21 against Bryant on Feb. 25, ON THE REBOUND Quinnipiac snagged a season-high 30 offensive rebounds in the Bobcats loss to Manhattan. The discrepancy in offensive rebounds (30-14) led to a 21-5 advantage in second chance points for Quinnipiac. The 30 offensive boards also marked the most for the Bobcats in a single-game since grabbing 31 against Stony Brook on Nov. 29, HIGH MAJOR UPSET Quinnipiac s win over Temple out of the American Athletic Conference signifies another huge step for the program as the victory marks the fourth win for the Bobcats over a high-major in program history. The three other highmajor victories included wins over Alabama, Minnesota and Syracuse but the Bobcats win over the Owls marks two straight seasons in which Quinnipiac has scored a victory over a high-major program (Alabama; W, 73-66; Nov. 30, 2014). TEMPLE TEMPING EXPECTATIONS The closing 30+ seconds where three Owl shots went begging was indicative of the entire game which saw Quinnipiac lock down Temple's high-flying backcourt duo of Fitzgerald and Butts. Coming into the game averaging a combined 45.7 points, 10 rebounds, 9.7 assists and 3.0 steals per game, Fitzgerald (13 points, 5-17 FG, 1-5 3FG, three rebounds, four turnovers) and Butts (seven points, 3-10 FG, 1-6 3FG, one rebound, three turnovers) were held to season-lows across the board including 20 points on 8-for-27 shooting (29.6 percent) and 2-for-11 from three (18.2 percent) with four rebounds and seven turnovers. HOME SWEET HOME Quinnipiac s victory over Temple prolonged the Bobcats dominance at home, extending the team s winning streak to 17 straight at the TD Bank Sports Center. The 17-game unbeaten streak tied the longest such streak in program history, matching the winning streak that extended from the NEC Championship season into the campaign. Since the start of the season, Head Coach Tricia Fabbri s squad now stands at 43-5 (89.6 win percentage) in games played at home. EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE One of the key stats from the Bobcats 13-point home win over Holy Cross is seen in the second chance points category as Quinnipiac converted 17 offensive rebounds into 20 second chance points. On the other end, Holy Cross was limited to just nine offensive rebounds and two second chance points for the game, giving Quinnipiac the 20-2 edge in the statistical category. McCLURE MAKING HISTORY Aryn McClure s monster game in the team s win over Hartford (10 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 27 minutes) made history as she became the fastest Bobcat in program history to record her first career double-double (two games). The previous fastest in Quinnipiac s Div. I history was Val Driscoll who notched 20 points and 15 rebounds four games into her Bobcat career on Nov. 24, B-MART OPEN FOR BUSINESS In what hopefully marks the start of many more to come, Quinnipiac s freshman Brittany Martin became just the second Bobcat in program history to take home MAAC Rookie of the Week honors on Nov. 16. Martin flashed tons of scoring potential in the Bobcats season opener as she pumped in 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting, 2-of-4 from three and 6-of-6 at the free throw line in a team-high 29 minutes of action. She joins Adily Martucci, who won the award back on Dec. 30, 2013, as the lone two Bobcats to take home the individual honor. PAULA PUTTING IN WORK It s a particularly rare feat for a player to snag double digit rebounds in less than 20 minutes played but it s even more impressive for the player to do so in her first career game. Paula Strautmane (10 rebounds in 19 minutes) posted quite the debut on the boards as she became the first player in program history to grab 10+ rebounds in less than 20 minutes in her first career game. She also became the first player in Quinnipiac s Div. I history to grab at least 10 rebounds in her first career game, the next closest Bobcat grabbed eight rebounds in their first collegiate appearance. DEFENSE-FIRST Quinnipiac s harassing pressure defense forced Army West Point into multiple mistakes as the Black Knights committed 16 turnovers for the game, including 10 in the first quarter alone. The announcement places each player with an official leadership title for the first time in their respective collegiate careers. This four-player group of captains is the largest in head coach Tricia Fabbri s 21-year coaching career and also the first without departed seniors Gillian Abshire and Jasmine Martin, who served as co-captains for three straight years since the campaign. YOUNG BLOOD Quinnipiac ranks 5th in the country in terms of who is the youngest team in the nation. Marquette 9 2. Indiana State Louisiana Tech Portland State Quinnipiac Cal-State Northridge 26 MAKING UP FOR LOST PLAYERS Quinnipiac looks to make up for the loss of six seniors including all five members of the Bobcats starting lineup in To start the season, Quinnipiac needs to make up for the loss of 68.2 percent of the team s total points from last season, 76.1 perfect of the team s total assists and 61.3 percent of the team s total rebounds. In combination, Quinnipiac is losing the most production (percentage-based) of any team in the MAAC. SHARP SHOOTING SENIOR SENSATION Maria Napolitano, the 2015 MAAC Sixth Player of the Year, is coming off the best season of her career averaging 6.9 points across 16.3 minutes per game for the Bobcats last year. Appearing in all 35 games off the bench, she led the Bobcats Gold Rush unit off the bench, leading a Quinnipiac team in bench scoring that led the MAAC in total bench points (906) as well as bench points per game (25.9 PPG) in Primarily a threat from behind the arc, Napolitano finished third on the team in three-pointers per game (1.4) while she enters her senior season ranked seventh all-time at Quinnipiac in career made three-pointers (112). MORE MINUTES FOR MARTUCCI Adily Martucci combined with Napolitano in to make for a dangerous one-two punch for the Bobcats coming off the bench. She posted career-highs across the board as a redshirt sophomore last season, averaging 6.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.8 steals in 14.5 minutes per game. Her 40.1 field goal percentage ( FG) last season led all Quinnipiac guards who appeared in at least 80 percent of the team s games while she also finished second among the backcourt members in three-point percentage (37.7) and free throw percentage (75.6). KATIE S COMEBACK Itching to get back to the floor this season, Katie Carroll played an integral role as a behind-the-scenes voice for the Bobcats throughout the campaign. Having to miss the entire season due to an elbow injury last year, Carroll returns as a senior in itching to make an impact for a depleted roster that is losing six seniors off a trip to the NCAA Tournament and MAAC Championship. With career averages of 1.0 points and 1.7 rebounds in 5.1 minutes across 38 career games played, Carroll figures to take a giant step forward in her final season as a Bobcat. LET S SEE IF THE SHEWAN FITS Another talented returner who figures to see a major bump in minutes this year is sophomore Sarah Shewan. As a rookie, Shewan averaged 3.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.5 blocks and 0.4 steals in 11.8 minutes per game. She led the Bobcats, shooting 80 percent (32-40 FT) from the free throw line last season and posted solid averages of 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in the Bobcats 20- game MAAC slate. BUILDING BIGGER ROLES Three more Bobcats Morgan Manz (1.6 PPG in ), Brittany Johnson (1.9 PPG) and Carly Fabbri (1.4 PPG) all figure to get a boost in minutes this season. 9 Tricia Fabbri Head Coach 21st Season Fairfield University 91 The all-time winningest coach in Quinnipiac women s basketball history, Tricia Fabbri, recently completed her 20th season on the Bobcats sideline and upped her career total to 325 victories. In , Fabbri guided the Bobcats to their fourth straight 20-win season, third straight appearance in the conference championship game and their fourth straight trip to a national postseason tournament as Quinnipiac won the MAAC and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history. A coaching legend on the campus of Quinnipiac, Fabbri joins legendary coaches Burt Kahn, Dan Skip Gooley, Mike Quitko and Rand Pecknold one of just five head coaches to win 300+ games in their time with the Bobcats. Fabbri reached the 300-win plateau during the Bobcats record-breaking season on Dec. 7, 2014 as she defeated her alma mater Fairfield, 67-66, on the same gym in which she starred as a Hall of Fame player with the Stags Quinnipiac also finished with an undefeated home record (14-0), an impressive feat considering the Bobcats non-conference strength of schedule was 8th out of 111 teams listed in For the season, Quinnipiac finished 10th in the nation in scoring offense (78.5), 8th in win-loss percentage (.886), 4th in assists per game (19.6), 5th in assist/ turnover ratio (1.47), 6th in three-point field goals per game (9.2), 17th in blocked shots per game (5.7) and 17th in scoring margin (+14.0). The only other team in the nation to earn a ranking in the Top 20 of each preceding statistical category was the 2015 NCAA Champions UConn. In , Fabbri guided the tutelage of four All-MAAC performers including Samantha Guastella (First Team), Val Driscoll (Second Team), Gillian Abshire (Third Team) and Nikoline Ostergaard (Third Team). In the history of the MAAC, only two teams prior to the Bobcats had four players earn All-Conference laurels, excluding the inclusion of the All-Rookie Team. The successful campaign came on the heels of a season of firsts in for the Quinnipiac women s basketball program, which featured a Northeast Conference Championship title. Fabbri led the Bobcats to their first 30-win season in program history, also an NEC first as well, which included a perfect 18-0 record through the regular season. Quinnipiac garnered the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, making their 13th NEC Tournament appearance in March The Bobcats defeated Bryant, Mount St. Mary s and then Saint Francis University in the title game to earn their first NCAA Tournament bid since joining the NCAA s highest division. The past four seasons has been filled with nothing but success for Quinnipiac as Fabbri has guided her team to a (.776 win percentage) overall record from The.776 win percentage over the last four seasons has Quinnipiac sitting tied for 19th in the nation, tied for 8th among mid-majors and 4th in the Northeast region. Fabbri has also garnered votes in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll as well as high acclaim in the various national mid-major polls. Fabbri s transformative season redefined the record books at Quinnipiac as her squad went 31-4 (.886 win percentage) overall and 20-0 in conference play on their way to winning the 2015 MAAC Championship and earning a spot into the NCAA Tournament. Fabbri led the Bobcats to their most wins (31) in a single-season in program history as well as their second 30-win campaign in the last three seasons. Quinnipiac became the first MAAC school in conference history (est. 1980) to finish 20-0 in conference play and just the sixth squad to go undefeated in league play. As the No. 1 seed in the 2015 MAAC Tournament, Quinnipiac upended Monmouth, Siena and ultimately the nine-time defending MAAC Champ Marist to claim their first MAAC Championship. Her record-breaking season earned Fabbri the 2015 MAAC Coach of the Year award on a unanimous vote by her pears. Throughout the season, Quinnipiac received unparalleled recognition in the national polls as Fabbri s squad earned four votes in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 National Poll, totaled two votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll, ranked No. 10 in the ESPNW Mid-Major Poll and were ranked No. 6 in the College Insider Mid-Major Poll. During the season, Quinnipiac achieved a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) rating as high as No. 23 in the nation, good enough for a program record. While her team also played the No. 1 nationally-ranked team (Notre Dame) for the first time in program history. Quinnipiac fell short to Atlantic-10 opponent Temple in the first round, after advancing to the Semifinals of the NEC Tournament. Along with the team s success, came individual success as well.
