After a 2-1 overtime victory at ECU, the Huskies were shut out for the first time this season, 3-0, at Cincinnati. - Samantha McGuire was named to The American weekly honor roll this week, giving UConn a spot on the list for the sixth straight week after Rachel Hill made the first five. McGuire scored the game-winning goal with a minute remaining in overtime at East Carolina. On the year, the junior is second on the Huskies with four goals and 10 points. - Hill leads UConn offensively with 11 goals and two assists for a team-high 24 points, tops in The American. The sophomore All-America candidate has made five weekly conference honor rolls and is fifth nationally in goal-scoring. - UConn and Memphis met for the first time last season, a 5-1 win for the Tigers in Tennessee. Hill scored the lone goal for the Huskies in the setback, with the assist to Riley Houle. Sunday marks the first meeting between the Huskies and Golden Hurricane. - UConn is ranked No. 4 in the Northeast Region by NSCAA. The Huskies have received votes in four of the first six national polls this season.

5 Match Notes HOME SWEET HOME UConn returns to Storrs this week for a pair of league games, beginning with American Athletic Conference rival Memphis on Thursday night. The Huskies and Tigers met for the first time as conference-mates last season, with UM taking home a 5-1 victory in Tennessee. UConn then takes on Tulsa on Sunday afternoon. The American Athletic Conference newcomer Golden Hurricane mark the third first-time oppoennt for Connecticut this season, with the Huskies previously defeating East Carolina and Stony Brook. In seven games this year at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium, UConn is and has out-scored its opponents by a margin of THE TSANTIRIS FILE This season marks the 34th for long-time Head Coach Len Tsantiris, who took over the helm of the UConn women s soccer program prior to the 1981 season. Overall in his tenure, he has become the secondwinningest coach in NCAA women s soccer history, holding a record of During Tsantris reign UConn has reached the NCAA Tournament 28 times, advancing to the national semifinals on eight occasions. The Huskies have also played in four national title games, most recently in Tsantiris charges have earned 26 All-America honors and won 10 conference championships. ALL HAIL HILL After spending the summer with the U-20 United States Women s National Team at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women s World Cup, sopomore sensation Rachel Hill has returned to Storrs and been spectacular. The 2014 American Athletic Conference Preseason Co-Offensive Player of the Year has scored 11 goals in 11 games, earning a spot on The American s first five weekly honor rolls. Hill is currently the nation s fifthleading goalscorer and leads The American in goals (11), points (24) and game-winning goals (3). BALANCING ACT Behind Hill, the Huskies have received a balanced scoring output from a multitude of contributors. After each potting a goal at ECU on Sept. 25, senior Riley Houle and junior Samantha McGuire are tied for UConn s second-leading scorer, with each scoring four goals and dishing out two assists to total 10 points. Freshman Danielle Gottwik is just behind them with eight points, coming via three goals and two assists. Gottwik is not the only fresh face to find the back of the net this season, as classmates Tanya Altrui and Brittany Moreau have each notched a goal as well. From a distribution standpoint, senior Julie Hubbard and redshirt junior Andrea Plucenik each have a team-high four assists, while both have also scored a goal to record six points. Behind those two, five Huskies have recorded two assists. LAST TIME OUT UConn dropped its first conference game of the season on Sunday, falling by a score of 3-0 at Cincinnati. The shutout was the first time the Huskies have been blanked this season and first overall since Sept. 13, Saucier made four saves in the first half while McGuire and Hubbard each fired a team-high three shots. TRACKING THE TIGERS Memphis visits UConn with a record on the season, including a mark in conference play to currently fit in a six-way tie with UConn and four others for third place in the league. After dropping their conference opener to No. 23 UCF on Sept. 25, the Tigers got their first league win on Sept. 28 with a 1-0 victory over USF. Valeria Sanderson leads the swuad with six goals and 13 points, including a pair of gamewinners. Kaitlyn Atkins, who scored the lone goal to top USF, is second on the squad with a scoring line while Nugene Nugent leads the team with four assists. Mary Bard-Martel has played every minute in goal for the Tigers and holds a 1.05 GAA and a.760 save percentage. HERE COMES THE STORY OF THE HURRICANE Tulsa travels to Storrs with start to the season and a mark in conference action. Like Memphis, the Golden Hurricane defeated USF and lost to No. 23 UCF in their first two conference matches. Rachel Thun is Tulsa s leader in goals (6), assists (5) and points (17), slotting in behind UConn s Hill for third in The American in goals and points. Lauren King has potted four goals for the Golden Hurricane, while Christina Holmes has recorded three tallies. Roman Edwards is the second leading distributor with three assists. Three goalies have made a start for Tulsa this year, but Courtney McKeon has gotten the nod nine times and holds a 1.49 GAA with a.659 save percentage and three shutotus. A LOOK AHEAD After the two home contests, UConn is back on the road in league play for a Texas two-step with matches at Houston on Oct. 9 and at SMU on Oct. 12. The Huskies swept the Lone Star State duo in Storrs last season.
