Coyne Stadium * BIG EAST Conference Game Home Games in Bold SU HOSTS VILLANOVA IN BIG EAST SEMIFINAL The fifth ranked Syracuse field hockey team (16-3) begins postseason play this weekend as the Orange host Villanova in the BIG EAST Semifinals at 3:00 at J.S. Coyne Stadium. SU landed a No. 2 seed in the tournament after a 5-1 record in conference play. Regular season champion and No. 1 seed Connecticut will play No. 4 seed Louisville in the early game at 12:30 p.m. The winners of Friday s semifinal games will advance to the championship game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Live stats for all three games this weekend will be available by accessing Championship Central on BIGEAST.org. SU IN THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT SU makes its 21st appearance at the BIG EAST Championship, carrying a (.483) record, including five crowns in 1993, 1995, 2001, 2008 and SU also has four second-place finishes in 1992, 1994, 1999 and Last season, the Orange defeated Rutgers 4-1 in a semifinal game in Storrs, Conn. before downing host Connecticut, 1-0, on a goal from Lindsey Conrad in the fifth minute of play. Under head coach Ange Bradley, the Orange is 5-2 in tournament play with two conference titles. VILLANOVA Friday will be the 24th meeting between the Orange and the Wildcats, with SU holding a 17-6 advantage. The two teams first met in Last week, the Orange picked up its fifth BIG EAST win at Villanova, 3-2. Late in the second half, with the game tied at two, Heather Susek netted her first of two goals on the weekend to give SU the lead for good. Syracuse has face the Wildcats three times in the BIG EAST Tournament, with Villanova holding a 2-1 postseason edge. SYRACUSE VS. VILLANOVA IN THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT Year Result Series 1990 L, W, L, SCOUTING VILLANOVA The Wildcats are 7-10 this season and are ranked third in the BIG EAST with a league record of 3-3. Jessica Swoboda leads the team in points (21), goals (seven) and assists (seven). Goalkeeper Megan Goelz has played in every game this season and owns a 3.35 goals-against-average and.718 save percentage. Villanova has been outscored by their opponents this season. SCOUTING SYRACUSE Syracuse (16-3, 5-1) is coming off another 2-0 weekend, their sixth this year, with a win on the road at Villanova, 3-2, and Bucknell at home, 3-1. Junior forward Kelsey Millman leads the team in scoring with 47 points, assists with 13, and a conference-tying best four game-winning goals. Millman tallied a goal against Bucknell last weekend, and is one point away from tying Yvonne Milionis 1990 junior class record for points in a season. Senior forward Heather Susek has 17 goals this season, which ties her at first in the BIG EAST rankings with Millman. Susek scored in each game last weekend and assisted on Millman s goal vs. Bucknell. Sophomore midfielder Leonie Geyer is third on the team with 29 points on 10 goals and nine assists. She is second in the BIG EAST in shots with 66 and, with Millman, leads the league with four game-winning-goals. Geyer scored the game-winning-goal in overtime against Boston College on Oct. 21. Senior midfielder Liz McInerney is second on the team with 10 assists this season and fourth in points (20). Junior goalkeeper Leann Stiver has played in 18-of-19 games in the cage. 5 BACK TO THE PLAYOFFS Syracuse clinched a spot in the 2011 BIG EAST Championship Tournament on October 14th with its win against Georgetown, marking the fifth straight season that the Orange has made an appearance in the conference tournament. This weekend will be the sixth time that Syracuse has hosted the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship, and the first time since SU has won two of the past three conference tournaments, including the 2010 Championship with a 1-0 win against UConn. AT HOME The Orange has been dominating at J.S. Coyne Stadium since fifth-year head coach Ange Bradley took the reins in Syracuse is 41-5 (.891) overall, including 28-3 (.903) in nonconference games and 13-2 (.867) in BIG EAST games. The Orange has won its last 26 games at J.S. Coyne Stadium and has only lost twice since the start of the 2008 season. BIG EAST SUccess Syracuse won its fifth BIG EAST Championship tournament title on Nov. 7, The Orange defeated No. 4 seed Rutgers, 4-1, in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship and shutout No. 3 seed Connecticut, 1-0, in the championship final. SU clinched the 2010 BIG EAST Regular-Season Championship, going 6-0 in league play, marking the third consecutive regularseason title for the Orange. This season, the Orange was 5-1 in BIG EAST play, and secured the No. 2 seed in this year s tournament. SHUT DOWN DEFENSE The Syracuse defense allowed 21 goals in 19 games during the regular season. Last weekend, SU held Villanova to just six shots and Bucknell to a mere two. The Orange have allowed seven shots on goal or less in 17 of the team s 19 games this season, and have recorded seven shutouts. Syracuse is ranked seventh in the country with a 1.07 goals against average. Goalkeeper Leean Stiver is sixth in the nation in goals against average (1.10). MILLMAN NEARING JUNIOR CLASS RECORDS Junior forward Kelsey Millman (Center Valley, Pa.) has 47 points (17 goals and 13 assists) for the Orange this season, and is one point away from tying Yvonne Milionis 1990 record for most points as a junior. She also needs one assist to tie the junior class record for assists in a season, currently held by Meg Ryan (2005) and Sherri Magsam (1988). Thirty-eight NFHCA National Academic selections. BRADLEY COACHES IN 300TH GAME Fifth-year head coach Ange Bradley coached in her 300th career game against Villanova last weekend. Bradley has a career record of (.728) in her 15 seasons as a head coach. Entering 2011, she had the fifth highest winning percentage among active Division I head coaches and the 12th most victories. She also has the ninth highest winning percentage alltime among Division I coaches. Bradley coached in her 100th game at Syracuse earlier this season against Georgetown. In her five seasons leading the Orange, Bradley is (.800), and has three regular season BIG EAST championships, two tournament championships and once NCAA Final Four appearance. LAST TIME OUT Looking to bounce back after a 3-2 double overtime loss to No. 4 UConn two weeks ago, the Orange rebounded with two staight wins at Villanova and against Bucknell to close the regular season. Heather Susek s late goal lifted the Syracuse field hockey team (16-3) to a 3-2 victory at Villanova on Friday. With the game tied at two, Susek scored with 3:22 left in regulation to give the Orange the win. Lauren Brooks opened the scoring 18 minutes into the first half with her second goal of the season on a shot from the left wing that deflected past Villanova goalkeeper Megan Goelz. Back and forth scoring between the two teams continued late into the second half. Leah High scored two goals for the Wildcats in the second half (44:10 and 66:20), responding to Martina Loncarica s goal in the 57th minute, to tie the game at two. But 18 seconds after High s second goal, Heather Susek delivered the game winning goal and SU s fifth BIG EAST win. SU then returned to J.S. Coyne Stadium on Sunday for the regular season finale against the Bison. The Orange received goals from three different players, including Susek, Kelsey Millman, and Stephanie Hussey. The Bison finally got one past Leann Stiver with fifteen minutes left to play, but that we be the only goal the SU defense would allow. The Bison were held to just two shots on goal, while the Orange tallied 34.

7 SUSEK EARNS WEEKLY HONORS Senior forward Heather Susek was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after a five-point performance last weekend. She was also named the ECAC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Susek had two goals and an assist in two Syracuse wins last weekend. On Friday at Villanova, Susek scored the game-winning goal with 3:22 left in regulation on a backhand shot from the right side. On Sunday against Bucknell on Senior Day, Susek scored the first goal of the game in the 14th minute and assisted on SU s second goal late in the first half. Susek was also named the SU Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Monday. She is a back-to-back BIG EAST All-Academic Team member, and has been on the SU Athletic Director s Honor Roll in each of the past four semesters. LONCARICA SUSEK NAMED TO SENIOR GAME Seniors Martina Loncarica and Heather Susek were chosen to participate in the NFHCA Senior Game on Tuesday. The Senior Game will be played on November 19 at the University of Louisville during the weekend of the NCAA Final Four. This marks the second straight season, and third time under head coach Ange Bradley that an Orange student-athlete has been named to the NFHCA Senior Game. Lindsay Conrad was named to the squad last season, while Shannon Taylor earned the honor in FORMER SU GREAT SHANNON TAYLOR All-American Shannon Taylor helped the United States capture the gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara. With the win, the Americans clinched a berth into the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England. Taylor scored three goals during the tournament, leading Team USA to an undefeated record. She scored her final goal of the tournament in the gold medal game against Argentina in a 4-2 win, snapping a streak of six-straight Pan American Game titles for the Argentineans. A first-team 2008 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American, Taylor was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and the ECAC All-Star squad during her time with the Orange. CURRENT GREAT MARTU Senior midfielder Martina Loncarica now sits alone on top of the Syracuse career-point and career-assist charts. The three-time All-American has recorded 135 points off 63 assists and 36 goals. Her goal total is tied for fifth on SU s all-time list. SU was ranked 17th on August 28, 2008, but moved up to No. 7 a week later and has not dropped out of the top 10 since. BIG EAST LEADERS The Orange have consistently been at the top of the BIG EAST team and individual statistics leaders. SU leads the conference in numerous team categories, including scoring average, goals per game, shots, scoring margin, shutouts, and penalty corners. They are also ranked second in categories such as goals allowed per game, goals against average, and assists per game amongst others (see next page). Kelsey Millman leads the league in points (47), assists (13), and goals (17). Millman is also tied for first in the conference with four game-winning-goals with Leonie Geyer. Geyer also leads the league in shots with 60. Heather Susek is tied with Millman with 17 goals and ranks second behind her in points with 40. SO MANY OPTIONS Syracuse has displayed scoring diversity throughout the season. Led by Heather Susek and Kelsey Millman, 15 different players have scored goals a combined 78 goals for the Orange this season. SU AMONG THE NATION S BEST Syracuse has catapulted near the top of the national statistics rankings. Leann Stiver is ranked in the top-five in goals against average and in is first in save percentage among active Division I student-athletes (see next page). Kelsey Millman is ranked 19th in assists per game (.68) and 13th in points per game (2.47). The Orange are fifth in the country with 0.46 shutouts per game (seven this season). SU is also ranked in the top-ten in goals against average (7th) and winning percentage (6th), and top-five in scoring margin (4th), scoring average (3rd), goals-per-game (4th), points-per-game (3rd), and assists-per-game (4th). LENDING A HELPING HAND SU had 62 assists during the regular season, easily surpassing last year s assist total (35). Syracuse ranks second in the conference and fourth in the nation in assists per game (3.26). Kelsey Millman leads the team and the league with 13 helpers this season, ranking tied for 19th in the country with 0.68 assists per game. FIRST TIMERS Five members of the 2011 team stepped onto the field for the first time in their careers in the season opener against Monmouth. Stephanie Hussey, Lauren Brooks, Jordan Page, Adrian Chambers and Haley Bomboy have all seen playing time for SU in The Orange has also seen seven different players tally their first collegiate goal this season.

The NCAA Selection Show will air on Tuesday, November, 8 at 8:00 p.m. to announce the 16-team field. The Orange are currently ranked seventh in the NCAA Division I RPI rankings. Syracuse has advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of the past three seasons, and reached the Final Four in SU also made the national tournament in 2001, 1995 and After going 1-1 last season in University Park, Pa., the Orange is 6-6 (.500) all-time in national tournament play. BIG EAST PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR Senior midfielder Martina Loncarica was named the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year in a vote by the conference s seven head coaches, the league office announced. The three-time All- American recorded a team-best 29 points off a team-high 11 goals and seven assists last season. BIG EAST FIELD HOCKEY PRESEASON POLL The three-time defending champion Orange garnered 32 points, including two first-place votes, and was picked to finish second behind Connecticut. The Huskies received 35 points, including the remaining five first-place votes. ALL-BIG EAST PRESEASON TEAM Senior midfielder Martina Loncarica, sophomore back Laura Hahnefeldt, senior forward Heather Susek and junior back Amy Kee were all selected to the All-BIG EAST Preseason Team. Loncarica, Hahnefeldt and Susek were all unanimous selections. Hahnefeldt was recognized on the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Second Team last season. The sophomore helped limit SU s opponents to just 1.14 goals per game in Susek earned third-team Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All- American honors after recording 21 points off nine goals and three assists in Kee earned a spot on the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All- Mideast Region First Team in an injury laden season. The junior also tallied 14 points off five goals and four assists in /NFHCA DIVISION I PRESEASON POLL Syracuse received 664 points and a No. 5 ranking in the 2011 Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I Preseason Poll. SU ended the 2010 season ranked fourth nationally after advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. All but five of SU s 19 opponents are either ranked in the top 20 or receiving votes, including four top-10 teams.
