Game time at Richard Garber Field is 5 p.m. The Lax Sports Network will provide exclusive live video while UMass will provide live stats of the Pride-Minutemen contest. Both links are available on this page as well as on the men's lacrosse schedule page at GoHofstra.com. Three of the four spots in the 2018 CAA Men s Lacrosse Championship Tournament will be on the line this weekend as all six conference schools will be in action. While UMass (9-4, 4-0) has already clinched the top seed in the championship and will host the four-team tournament on May 3 and 5, the five other conference schools are in contention for a berth. Hofstra (6-6, 2-2) is in a three-way tie for second-place with Delaware (5-7, 2-2) and Towson (5-7, 2-2). Drexel (5-7, 1-3) and Fairfield (4-10, 1-3) are tied for fifth-place. The Pride is in with a win and could also advance to the championships with a loss, based tie-breaking scenarios which can be found in the game notes. The Pride is coming off a decisive 16-8 CAA victory at Drexel in the annual HEADstrong Foundation Hero Bowl between the two schools last Saturday. Senior Alex Moeser led a Hofstra first-half onslaught with three goals and two assists in the first 30 minutes as the Pride opened up a 7-1 lead at the break on the way to the victory. Classmate Dylan Alderman added two goals and two assists, junior Jimmy Yanes tallied three goals and one assist while sophomore Ryan Tierney also contributed three goals. Senior Brendan Kavanagh and freshman Dylan McIntosh chipped in a goal and an assist while newcomer Keegan Santos scored his first collegiate goal to close out the scoring. Senior goalie Jack Concannon made eight saves in the Pride cage. On the season, Hofstra leads the nation in defense, allowing only 7.17 goals per game while scoring 9.00 goals per outing. Hofstra has six players in double-figures in points through 12 games as Tierney leads the team with 47 points on 26 goals and 21 assists. Yanes has 31 points on 20 goals and 11 assists while McIntosh has 19 goals and two assists. Alderman, who missed four games this season with an injury, has 10 goals and 11 assists in eight games. Sophomore Kyle Gallagher is now 123-for-212 in face-offs for a.580 winning percentage, while also picking up a team-best 83 ground balls and scoring three goals. He ranks 11 th in ground balls per game and 20 th in face-off winning percentage in Division I. Concannon, who was selected by the Florida Launch in the fourth round of Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft on April 18th, leads the nation in goals against average with a 7.11 slate and is ninth in save percentage with a.564 mark with 110 saves. SCOUTING UMASS UMass, which is riding an eight-game winning streak and has outscored their opponents, during that time, has wins over Sacred Heart (13-9), NJIT (17-3), UMass Lowell (13-6), Hartford (17-13), Brown (14-12), Drexel (11-10), Delaware (9-8), Towson (8-4) and Fairfield (11-4). Their losses have come against Army (18-6), Harvard (16-11), Yale (13-10) and Albany (19-8). The Minutemen average goals per game while allowing per outing. UMass is led in scoring by Buddy Carr with 29 goals and 20 assists while Jeff Trainor has 24 goals and 14 assists and Chris Connolly has chipped in with 19 goals and 18 assists. In the Minutemen cage, Sean Scanone has a goals against average with 61 saves. HOFSTRA-UMASS SERIES HISTORY - Hofstra and UMass will be meeting for the 44th time with the Minutemen holding a series advantage. UMASS LAST YEAR CAA SEMIFINAL MAY 4, 2017: Towson, MD Senior Dan Muller scored his fourth goal of the game on a 35-yard shot as time expired to give the third-seed Minutemen of Massachusetts a victory over the second-seed Hofstra Pride in a Colonial Athletic Association Championship semifinal contest at Johnny Unitas Stadium. The UMass victory negated a Hofstra rally from six goals down in the third quarter and a five goal, one assist performance by Hofstra senior Josh Byrne and four goals by freshman Ryan Tierney. In addition to Byrne's six-point night that gives him 41 goals and 25 assists on the season, Tierney's four goals give him 31 on the year. Junior Brendan Kavanagh tallied two goals and two assists. UMass was led by Muller with four goals and one assist, freshman Jesse Leung and sophomore Ben Spencer with two goals each and classmate Dom St. Laurent and senior Grant

3 Consoletti with one goal and two assists each. UMass goalie D.J. Smith made just five saves for the victory. Hofstra struck first just 1:46 into the contest as Tierney took a pass from Brendan Kavanagh behind the goal and fired a bullet past Towson goalie D.J. Smith for his 28th goal of the year. But UMass answered with two goals by Dan Muller before the end of the period to take a 2-1 lead. Muller tallied the Minutemen's first goal just 1:11 after the Pride goal to tie the contest and then notched his second of the game and 19th of the year with 5:37 to play in the period for the 2-1 lead after one quarter. The Pride evened the game at 2-2 with 10:37 to play in the half when Byrne fired a shot from 15 yards out for his 37th goal of the season. But UMass replied with four unanswered goals to open up a 5-2 lead. Ben Spencer started the run with his 14th goal of the year off a pass from Dom St. Laurent just 45 seconds after the Hofstra goal. Just 24 seconds after that, Jesse Leung tallied his 10th goal of the season on the crease off a pass from Grant Consoletti for a 4-2 lead. Just 45 seconds after Leung's goal, Jeff Trainor scored his 10th of the season for a 5-2 advantage with 8:43 to play in the half. UMass bumped the lead to 6-2 with 2:57 to play in the half as Leung scored his second of the game from Tyler Bogart. Hofstra stopped the run with 1:47 to play when Byrne scored his second of the game and 38th of the year, off a pass from Dylan Alderman, to close the gap to 6-3. But Muller scored his third of the game, on the man-up, for UMass with 1:14 to play in the half and Consoletti added his ninth of the year from Trainor with 0:10 remaining for an 8-3 halftime lead. The Minutemen outshot the Pride, in the half including 14-5 in the six-goal, second quarter. UMass also won 10 of 13 faceoffs in the half. Hofstra was also 0-4 on the man-up. UMass extended their run in the third quarter as Dom St. Laurent scored his sixth of the year at the 9:22 mark to boost the lead to 9-3. But Ryan Tierney ended the run for Hofstra with his second of the game and 29th of the year with 7:31 to play in the third. The Minutemen got the goal back at the 6:11 mark when Tyler Bogart notched his 25th goal of the season off a pass from St. Laurent to bump the lead to The Pride responded with three unanswered goals beginning with a man-up goal by Brendan Kavanagh, off a pass from Dale Stasco with 4:03 to play in the third. Kavanagh scored his second of the game and 23rd of the season off a short pass from Byrne just 25 seconds later. Then, defender Michael Diener scooped up the ensuing face-off, charged the UMass zone and fired a bullet past Smith for his second goal of the season to close the deficit to 10-7 with 3:28 to play in the period. UMass ended the Pride run just 23 seconds into the fourth quarter while on the man-up as Ben Spencer got the hat-trick in the game and his ninth of the season off a pass from Muller for an 11-7 advantage. But Hofstra replied with three goals in a 1:59 span as part of a four goal run to tie the game at Byrne scored his third of the game at the 12:44 mark, and Tierney scored his third and fourth of the game at the 11:52 and 10:45 marks to close within one at Byrne then tied the game with his fourth of the contest at the 5:24 mark. Grader scored off a pass from Mike McDonough while on the man-down. But Byrne came up big for Hofstra with his fifth of the contest with 4:14 to play in the fourth to tie the game at 12- all. On the winning UMass goal, there was a stoppage of play after an over and back violation on the Pride with one second remaining and Hofstra on the man-up. Muller then scooped up the ball and fired a 35-yard bullet past Hofstra junior goalie Jack Concanon (11 saves) for the winner. UMASS AT HOFSTRA CAA REGULAR SEASON - APRIL 22, 2017 Hempstead, NY Senior Josh Byrne recorded five goals and three assists and junior Dylan Alderman added a career-high four goals to lead the seventh-ranked Hofstra Pride to a 15-8 Colonial Athletic Association victory over the Massachusetts Minutemen at James M. Shuart Stadium. Byrne, who recorded a seven-goal, two assist performance against NJIT earlier this season, posted his seventh game of the year with three goals or more and extended his consecutive game points streak to 17 and consecutive game goal streak to eight on Senior Day Saturday. He also topped the 100-point mark in his short two-season career on a second quarter assist on junior Brendan Kavanagh's man-up goal. Byrne now has career-highs of 35 goals and 24 assists in 2017 and 65 goals and 39 assists for 104 points in his Hof career Kavanagh, who recorded his first career hat-trick, including the game-winning overtime goal at UMass in 2016, notched the hat-trick again on Saturday with three scores for his fourth three-goal contest of his career. Alderman topped his previous best of three goals set at UNC in March with his four-goal outburst. Freshman Ryan Tierney added a goal and two assists to give him 26 goals and 15 assists this year. Junior goalie Jack Concannon posted double-digit saves for the eighth time this season with 13 stops against UMass. UMass was led by sophomore Ben Spencer with three goals and junior Jake Lisauskas with two goals. Senior Gianni Bianchin added two assists while classmate Jeff Trainor contributed a goal and an assist. Senior goalie D.J. Smith made five saves in the UMass goal in 30 minutes of action while sophomore Sean Sconone added five saves in the second half for the Minutemen. Hofstra jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the second quarter on the way to a 10-3 halftime lead. The Pride opened up with goals by Kavanagh and Tierney before Trainor cut the Hofstra lead in half at the 6:16 mark of the first quarter at 2-1. But the Pride answered with seven consecutive goals including four by Byrne and two by Kavanagh to build the 9-1 advantage with 4:03 to play in the second quarter. Lisauskas and Leung sandwiched a Jimmy Yanes goal for Hofstra to close out the first half scoring. UMass would open the third quarter with back-to-back goals by Spencer to close to 10-5 at the 9:33 mark of the period but junior Alex Moeser and Alderman responded in kind for the Pride to boost the lead to 12-5 with 2:18 to play in the third. The two teams would exchange goals, including Hofstra's final two by Alderman, over the next 17 minutes as the Pride clinched their second consecutive CAA playoff spot. Hofstra outshot UMass, while the Minutemen edged the Pride in ground balls, and won 19 of 27 face-offs. UMass took a lead just 18 seconds later as Dylan

Hofstra would hold the tiebreaker because of the win over UMass. Hofstra would be the No. 2 Seed, Towson the No. 3 Seed, Delaware the No. 4 Seed. If Delaware and Towson are tied 3-2 and Hofstra is 2-3. Towson would be the No. 2 Seed, Delaware the No. 3 Seed and Hofstra the No. 4 Seed. Hofstra would be the No. 3 Seed by virtue over the win over Towson. Drexel would win the head-to-head with Delaware, so Drexel would be the No. 4 Seed, elimination Delaware. If Hofstra is 3-2 and Towson, Drexel, Delaware and Fairfield are all tied at 2-3 Hofstra would be the No. 2 Seed. Both Towson and Drexel went 2-1 against the tied teams. In the head-to-head between Towson and Drexel, Towson holds the tiebreaker. Towson would be the No. 3 and Drexel would be the No. 4 Seed. If Delaware, Drexel, Towson, Fairfield, and Hofstra are all tied at 2-3 All went 2-2 against each other and loss to UMass. Therefore, it would come down to goal differential in conference games, to begin breaking the ties. TWO NAMED TO INSIDE LACROSSE PRESEASON ALL- AMERICAN TEAM Hofstra senior goalie Jack Concannon was named to 2018 Inside Lacrosse Media Preseason All-America Team. Pride senior defender Brett Osman was selected a honorable mention All-American. Concannon, a two-time All-Colonial Athletic Association first team selection and a 2017 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America second team selection, started in all 14 games last season, playing in all but 15 minutes on the season. He recorded 161 saves for a.571 save percentage and an 8.80 goals against average with an 11-3 record. Osman started all 14 games for Hofstra last season. He was second on the team with 10 caused turnovers while picking up 25 ground balls. Osman was named to the All-CAA first team and the All-ECAC second team in FIVE HOFSTRA PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-CAA PRESEASON TEAM; PRIDE PICKED SECOND Five Hofstra Men's Lacrosse players have been named to the 2018 Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Team. Senior goalie Jack Concannon, defender Brett Osman, midfielders Dylan Alderman and Brendan Kavanagh and sophomore attackman Ryan Tierney were all named to this year's preseason all-conference squad. In addition, the Pride was predicted to finish second in the 2018 CAA race in a vote by the league's six head coaches. Towson collected 24 points and four first-place votes while Hofstra had 22 points and two first-place votes. They were followed by Massachusetts in third with 15 points and Drexel in fourth with 14 points. Rounding out the order of finish was Fairfield with eight points and Delaware with seven points. PRIDE COACH SETH TIERNEY GETS WIN 100: Seth Tierney became the fifth head coach in the 60- year history of the Hofstra Men's Lacrosse program in August, Now in his 12th season, Tierney has led the Pride to 105 victories, the 2008 Colonial Athletic Association championship, the 2009, and 2014 CAA regular season titles, and berths in the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 NCAA Championship Tournaments. He was named the 2014 CAA Coach of the Year for the second time in his career after receiving the honor in Tierney served as an assistant coach at Hofstra from 1995 through 2000 before leaving for a similar position at his alma mater Johns Hopkins University. During his six-year tenure as an assistant with the Pride, Hofstra recorded six consecutive winning seasons with a combined overall record of and a conference mark of 29-2, captured five league titles, received five top 15 final national rankings, and played in four NCAA Championship tournaments. Tierney also coached seven All-Americans and nearly twodozen all-conference players during his first tenure at Hofstra. Among them was midfielder Doug Shanahan, who would receive the inaugural Tewaaraton Trophy as College Lacrosse Player of the Year, the Lt. Ray Enners Award as the Division I Player of the Year, and the Lt. Donald McLaughlin Award as the Division I Midfielder of the Year in 2001.

5 Tierney returned to Hofstra after a six-year tenure at John Hopkins, with the final two seasons as associate head coach. As the Blue Jays offensive coordinator, he was the architect of one of the most potent and explosive offenses in the nation in recent years. Tierney directed the Blue Jays attack that finished second in the nation in scoring margin, sixth in scoring offense and 16th in man-up offense during Hopkins' NCAA title run in The Blue Jays led the nation in scoring offense and man-up offense in 2003 and finished fifth in both categories in CAA TITLES UNDER TIERNEY: Hofstra has captured three CAA regular season titles under Coach Seth Tierney. Hofstra won the regular season title in 2009, 2011 and The Pride captured the CAA Championship Tournament title in TIERNEY SECOND FASTEST TO 50 WINS: Pride coach Seth Tierney recorded his 50th victory as head coach of the Pride in his 76th contest. He is the second-fastest to reach 50 wins in Pride men s lacrosse history, behind the legendary Howdy Myers who did it in 73 games. NCAA TOURNAMENT STREAK: Under Coach Seth Tierney, the Pride made four consecutive NCAA Championship appearances, from 2008 through 2011, for the first time in school history. That feat broke the previous mark of three straight from and HOFSTRA UNDER TIERNEY (As of April ) Overall record Conference record Against ranked opponents Home record Road record Neutral record One goal decisions Two goal decisions Three-goal decision Four goal decisions Others Record in February Record in March Record in April Record in May HOFSTRA ASSISTANT COACHES - Associate Head Coach Kevin Unterstein, who spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons serving as an assistant coach under Bill Tierney at both Princeton and Denver, is in his eighth season on the Hofstra Pride men s lacrosse staff in A 2008 graduate of Hofstra, Unterstein enjoyed a stellar playing career as a short-stick defensive middie from 2005 through As a senior he recorded a team-leading 70 ground balls while helping to guide the Pride to the Colonial Athletic Association title and the NCAA Tournament. For his efforts, he was an All- CAA first team selection, and was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year, and the CAA Championship Tournament Most Valuable Player. As a junior, Unterstein earned USILA All-American honorable mention honors, and was named to the All-CAA second team as well as the All-CAA Tournament team. He was promoted to Hofstra Associate Head Lacrosse Coach in August In January, he was named to the U.S. National Lacrosse Team for the FIL World Championships in Israel in July. serving as an assistant coach at Delaware during the academic year. Prior to coaching at Delaware, Brazel spent three seasons ( ) at Sacred Heart. Brazel began his Division I coaching career during the year at Manhattan College. He began his coaching career at Nassau Community College. - Brandon Mangan is in his second season on the Pride coaching staff in The Wantagh, NY native, played in 12 games, including the MLL Championship Game, for the Machine and recorded eight goals and two assists in The Yale University graduate (2014) was a USILA All- American honorable mention as a junior, a two-time All-New England first team selection and an All-Ivy League second team pick during his four stellar years as a Bulldog. He posted his best numbers at Yale as a junior, leading the team with 39 goals and 64 points-both Bulldog junior recordsand earning All-America, All-Ivy and All-New England honors as well as being a Tewaaraton Trophy candidate. He finished his Bulldog career with 99 career goals, which ranked him fourth at Yale, and 163 points, which ranks sixth. His 14-month battle with non-hodgkins lymphoma was a study in courage, dignity and the relentless attitude that he brought to everything he did. A son, a brother, a fiancé, a teammate, a classmate and a friend, Nick cherished and honored all of these titles. He will be remembered for the love and joy that he brought to so many people and a spirit that will last forever. The Hofstra lacrosse program is active in fund-raising activities in the fight against lymphoma. In addition, each year one senior, who exemplifies the spirit and relentless attitude that Nick displayed, will be selected to wear the number 27 uniform.
