Muldoon notched his fourth of the game and sixth of the year with five seconds to play to close the gap to 7-6. But it was too little, too late. Hofstra outshot Brown in the contest, 37-19, and picked up 38 ground balls to the Bears 20. Pride goalie Danny Orlando made just four saves in the contest while Jordan Burke stopped 13 shots in the Brown cage. GAME 3 MARCH 8 VS. #1 JOHNS HOPKINS: Freshman attack Jay Card scored the game-winner with 1:51 left in the first overtime as the Hofstra Pride shocked #1 and defending national champion Johns Hopkins, 8-7, at James M. Shuart Stadium. Card's game-high fourth tally of the contest came off a Johns Hopkins turnover near midfield, which Pride junior attack Tom Dooley picked up and passed to junior midfielder Anthony Muscarella, who in turn sent it to Card standing alone to the right of the cage. The win, Hofstra's first-ever over a #1 ranked opponent in men's lacrosse, improves the Pride's record to 2-1 this season. Johns Hopkins, which opened the season with three straight victories, falls to 3-1 during the 2008 campaign. The two teams would combine for nine goals in the opening quarter with Hofstra taking a 6-3 advantage heading into the second stanza courtesy of a 4-0 run to end the quarter. Muscarella and Card opened the scoring in the contest, with goals at the 10:45 and 8:53 marks, respectively, before three different Johns Hopkins players notched goals to give the Blue Jays a 3-2 lead with 6:15 to play. Card would have a hat trick before the end of the first quarter as he tallied backto-back goals with roughly five minutes remaining to put the Pride back ahead, 4-3. Muscarella and senior midfielder Mike Unterstein

7 would give Hofstra the three-goal lead as each scored unassisted goals in the final 4:07 of the quarter. After a scoreless second stanza, the Blue Jays came out of halftime on fire as Stephen Peyser, Austin Walker and Michael Doneger each found the back of the net in the first 11:11 of the third quarter and Johns Hopkins knotted the score at six with 3:49 left. Doneger's tally, off a feed from Michael Kimmel, was the Blue Jay's lone manup goal of the contest. Hofstra would finally put an end to its scoring drought of nearly 38 minutes when sophomore attack Dan Stein put the Pride back ahead, 7-6, with a goal at the 9:02 mark. Peyser would send the game into overtime with an unassisted goal, his second of the game, with 1:15 remaining in the fourth quarter, setting up Card's overtime heroics. The Pride had 31 ground balls in the contest, led by freshman midfielder Joe Montemurro's five. Mike Unterstein and brother, senior midfielder Kevin Unterstein each picked up four ground balls. Montemurro won 10 of 18 face-offs in the game, while Muscarella added an assist for a total of three points on the afternoon. Sophomore goalie Danny Orlando made 14 saves for Hofstra to pick up the victory, while Johns Hopkins goalie Michael Gvozden stopped 11 shots for the Blue Jays. In addition to Peyser's two points, Kevin Huntley (one goal, one assist), Mark Bryan (one goal, one assist) and Kimmel (one goal, one assist) each tallied two points in the game. Kimmel, Peyser and Matt Dolente each led the Blue Jays with four ground balls, while Peyser was 5-12 on face-offs and Dolente was 4-7. GAME 4 MARCH 15 AT #13 PRINCETON: Tom Dooley and Mike Unterstein each had three points for the Pride but that couldn't overcome a six-point day by Tiger junior Tommy Davis as #13 Princeton downed #10 Hofstra, 11-6, at Powers Field at Princeton Stadium. Hofstra had its two-game winning streak snapped and is now 2-2 on the season while the Tigers ended their two-game losing skid to even their mark at 2-2. Davis, a junior attackman from Levittown, NY, tallied three goals and three assists, while senior attackman Alex Haynie added three goals and junior middie Mark Kovler chipped in with two goals for Princeton. Dooley, the Pride's leading scorer last season, notched two goals and one assist, while Unterstein added a goal and two assists to lead Hofstra. The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Davis and Kovler in the first seven minutes. But the Pride cut the deficit in half as freshman Jay Card tallied his fifth goal of the year, from eight yards out, off a pass from junior Anthony Muscarellla with 6:54 to play in the period. But Princeton boosted the lead to 3-1 on Davis' second of the game and eighth of the season 1:36 later. Hofstra closed the gap again as Dooley notched his third of the year, off a pass from Michael Unterstein, from out in front with 2:49 to play in the first quarter. The Pride tied the game at 3-all as Unterstein came around the left side of the goal and fired an underhand shot past Tiger goalie Alex Hewitt from five yards out. Hofstra took its first lead of the game 4:04 into the second quarter as Dooley notched his second of the game and fourth of the year from in front after a pass from Card. The Tigers tied the game at 4-4 with 4:47 to play in the half as senior attackman Bob Schneider ran over a Hofstra defender and fired a bullet past Pride goalie Danny Orlando from 12 yards for his fifth goal of the season. The Pride took its final lead of the game 1:14 later as sophomore middie Tom Interlicchio notched his second goal of the year, off a pass from Unterstein, from 12 yards in front. Princeton tied the game at 5-5 with 1:34 to play in the half as sophomore Scott MacKenzie scored an unassisted goal from 13 yards for his second of the season. That goal would be the start of seven unanswered goals for the Tigers as they took the lead 31 seconds later as Jack McBride scored his fourth of the year, on a bounce shot to give Princeton a 6-5 lead at halftime. The Tigers outshot the Pride, 19-8 and picked up 17 ground balls to Hofstra's 11 in the first half. The Tigers boosted the lead with two goals in the third quarter as Davis notched his third of the game 5:41 into the second half, and Kovler tallied his second of the contest with 51 seconds remaining in the period. Princeton blew the game open in the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter as senior attackman Alex Haynie recorded three straight goals-his third, fourth and fifth of the season-to close out the Tiger scoring and boost the score to Hofstra sophomore Dan Stein closed out the scoring in the contest with his second goal of the season off a pass from Dooley with 55 seconds remaining in the contest. The Tigers outshot the Pride, 32-20, won 14 of 21 face-offs, and picked up 32 ground balls to Hofstra's 25 in the contest. Hewitt posted eight saves in the Princeton cage including four in the fourth quarter before being lifted with 1:16 to play. Orlando finished with four saves. GAME 5 MARCH 21 vs. TOWSON: Junior Anthony Muscarella scored a career-high five goals and added two assists for seven points, and sophomore Dan Stein contributed two goals and one assist as #15 Hofstra won its Colonial Athletic Association opener with a 13-8 win over Towson. The Pride jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter as freshman Jay Card scored twice. The first goal came off a feed from classmate Steven DeNapoli with 7:39 on the clock, while the second came after Card picked up a rebound on a shot by senior Mike Unterstein and fired a blast past Towson keeper Matt Antol with 6:04 to go. The Tigers raced out to start the second quarter and scored three straight goals to take the lead. Sophomore Eric Boyle scored off a pass from freshman Matt Hanzsche 2:40 into the period and 46 seconds later junior Bill McCutcheon took a pass from senior Adam Hagelin and beat Hofstra sophomore keeper Danny Orlando to tie the score. Towson won the ensuing face-off and following a holding penalty on Hofstra, Towson freshman Tim Stratton gave the Tigers the lead off a feed from Eric Boyle. The Pride responded on their next possession following a failed clear by Towson. After Hofstra set up in the offensive zone, Muscarella scored unassisted with 9:29 remaining to tie the score at three. Muscarella struck again with 2:34 left in the half, another unassisted tally that put the Pride up 4-3 at halftime. Muscarella completed the natural hat trick 1:30 into the third quarter as he beat Antol again from about 10 yards out to extend the Pride lead to 5-3. The Tigers got one back at the 4:15 mark of the quarter on junior Randall Cooper's goal, but Muscarella converted a feed from Mike Unterstein with 9:15 remaining to give the Pride the 6-4 lead. Mike Unterstein gave the Pride a three-goal cushion when he scored his fourth of the year with 4:34 to go in the third. Stein scored with 1:15 remaining in the third as Antol was out of position behind the net and Stein took advantage of the empty net for an 8-4 lead. The Pride did not let up in the fourth as Tom Dooley scored off a pass from Muscarella for a 9-4 lead. Muscarella notched his fifth of

8 the game at 4:14 to put Hofstra up by six, Dooley made it 11-4 as he scored off a behind the net feed from Stein with 7:56 to go in the game. The Pride went up 12-4 less than a minute later when Stein scored unassisted. Junior Michael Colleluori closed out the Hofstra scoring with a man-up goal from Muscarella with 4:15 left. Towson closed out the game with four unanswered goals, two by McCutcheon to account for the final score. McCutcheon finished with three goals, while Boyle had a goal and two assists. Junior Mitchell Rosenweig, who won 16 of 24 face-offs, had a game-high 12 ground balls. Card led the Pride with six ground balls, while senior Connor Hagans and freshman Mike Skudin added four ground balls. Antol made seven saves for Towson, while Orlando had eight in the Hofstra cage. GAME 6 TUESDAY, MARCH 25 VS. #16 ARMY: Army attackman Jason Peyer scored from a sharp angle with just two seconds remaining to give the 16 th -ranked Black Knights of Army an 8-7 victory over the 12 th -ranked Pride of Hofstra at James M. Shuart Stadium Tuesday night. Army won its fourth straight contest to improve to 6-2 while Hofstra evened its record at 3-3. As time ran down, Peyer, a junior from Williston Park, Long Island, took a pass from Rob McCallion 15 yards to the left and five yards in front of Hofstra goalie Danny Orlando, and fired a bullet high into the cage for the victory. It was his 15 th goal of the year. Paul Wigdzinski tallied two goals and one assist to lead Army. Hofstra was led by sophomore Dan Stein with two goals and one assist while Tom Dooley added two goals. While the Black Knights took a lead after one quarter, the Pride took three goals leads three times in the contest before Army mounted the late comeback. Pride junior midfielder Michael Colleluori opened the scoring 3:25 into the game on a bullet from 10 yards out. Army put two in the cage as senior Paul Wigdzinski and junior Brooks Korvin scored unassisted goals to give the Black Knights a 2-1 lead after one quarter. But Hofstra erupted for four second period goals to take a 5-2 lead at halftime. First, senior middie Mike Unterstein scored 1:10 into the quarter to tie the game at 2-2. Just 39 seconds later senior Kevin Unterstein fed junior Anthony Muscarella, who notched his 10 th of the year from six yards in front of the cage. Sophomore Dan Stein gave Hofstra a 4-2 lead with 8:53 to play in the half when he took a feed from Muscarella on the crease and easily beat Army goalie Adam Fullerton. Junior Tom Dooley notched his seventh of the season with just 2:33 to play in the half to give the Pride a three-goal advantage at haftime. The Black Knights closed the gap to 5-3 as Paul Wigdzinski notched his second of the game and fifth of the year, from Korvin, just 2:22 into the second half. But Dooley notched his second of the game and eighth of the year, four minutes later off a pass from Stein to boost the Hofstra lead to 6-3. But Army would come storming back, scoring four of the next five goals to tie the game at 7-7 midway through the fourth. First, Jeremy Boltus notched his eighth of the year from Alex Rhoads with 1:34 to play in the third to cut the lead to 6-4. But Stein gave the Pride a three goal lead, once again, just 10 seconds into the fourth with a man-up goal off a pass from Muscarella. It was Stein s sixth goal of the year. The Black Knights would not give up and scored the next three goals to tie the game at 7-all. First, LoRusso notched his fourth of the year from Wigdzinski with 13:03 to play in regulation. Then Brandon Butler tallied his first of the year from Boltus just about a minuteand-a-half later. Freshman midfielder Rob McCallion then tied the game with 6:52 to play with an unassisted goal. It was his 10 th goal of the year. The Black Knights outshot the Pride, 31-27, and picked up 26 ground balls to Hofstra s 24. Army goalie Adam Fullerton posted eight saves while Orlando finished with seven for the Pride. GAME 7 - SATURDAY, MARCH 29 AT #11 DREXEL: Andrew Chapman's fourth goal of the game at 1:19 of the second overtime gave #11 Drexel a 9-8 win over #12 Hofstra at Vidas Field Saturday night. Drexel improves to 8-2 on the season and is 1-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Hofstra falls to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the CAA. Hofstra junior midfielder Michael Colleluori recorded two goals and two assists to lead the Pride while freshman attack Jay Card tallied his second hat-trick of the season with three goals. In addition to Chapman junior middie Jon Van Houten notched two goals while sophomore attackman Colin Ambler added a goal and an assist for Drexel. The Dragons jumped on the Pride early with two goals in the first 1:40 including Ambler's game opening score just seven seconds into the contest. Van Houten's fourth goal of the season gave Drexel a 2-0 lead. But Pride sophomore attackman Dan Stein started a seven goal run with an unassisted goal with 7:48 to play in the period. It was Stein's seventh goal of the year. Junior middie Anthony Muscarella, the CAA's Player of the Week, notched his 11th goal of the year, off a pass from Colleluori, two minutes later to tie the game at 2-all. Hofstra scored five more times in the second quarter as Card scored the first of his two in the period 2:46 in off a pass from Michael Unterstein. It was the Canadian's eighth goal of the season. Colleluori recorded his third goal of the year, on the run almost two minutes later, and junior Tom Dooley gave the Pride a 5-2 lead with his ninth of the year, from in front of the goal, with 8:54 to play in the half. Colleluori scored an unassisted tally almost three minutes later and Card closed out the scoring in the half seven seconds later off a pass from face-off man Mike Vaccaro. But Drexel came back strong in the third quarter, scoring six times and blanking the Pride in the period. Like the first goal Chapman scored just seven seconds into the half off a pass from Ambler. Just 1:26 later Greg Casey started a string of five unassisted Dragon goals. Chapman followed with his second of the game 1:32 later to close the gap to 7-5. Van Houten notched his second of the game with 5:25 to play in the third and Ryan West scored right off the face-off four seconds later to tie the game at 7-all. Chapman gave Drexel their first lead since early in the first quarter with 3:59 to play in the period to close out the scoring in the third. Drexel outshot the Pride, 13-3, in the period and captured all seven face-offs. Hofstra tied the game at 8-8 2:59 into the fourth quarter when Colleluori fed Card for his third of the contest and 10th of the year. Both teams had several chances to break the deadlock near the end of regulation but could not overcome some key turnovers down the stretch. The Pride had the best chance to win the game in the first overtime when Michael Unterstein scooped an errant Drexel pass to Dan Stein, who was behind the Dragon's defense. Stein went in on Drexel goalie Bruce Bickford (9 saves) one-on-one. The senior netminder stopped Stein cold with the biggest save of the contest setting up Chapman's second overtime heroics. On the winning goal Chapman bullied his way into the Hofstra crease

9 and beat Pride goalie Danny Orlando (7 saves). Drexel outshot the Pride, 36-30, picked up 27 ground balls to Hofstra's 15, and captured 18 of 22 face-offs in the contest. GAME 8 - APRIL 5 VS. SACRED HEART: Freshman Jay Card and junior Tom Dooley each scored five goals as the 20 th -ranked Hofstra Pride defeated the Pioneers of Sacred Heart, 20-3, in a Colonial Athletic Association contest at James M. Shuart Stadium Saturday. The Pride, who snapped a two-game losing skid, improved to 4-4 on the season and 2-1 in CAA play while the Pioneers fell to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in conference action. Card, a newcomer from Caledon, Ontario, Canada, posted careerbests of five goals, two assists and seven points in the Pride onslaught. Dooley, the junior from Yorktown, NY, tallied five goals for the fourth time in his career and fell just one tally short of his career best of six goals, set against Sacred Heart in Dooley also assisted on one goal. Sophomore Dan Stein, from Merrick, NY, added a season-best three goals and career-bests of three assists and six points in the contest. The Pioneers opened the scoring just 1:58 into the game as Tony Tanzi fed Bobby Rushton for his 11 th goal of the year. Three-and-ahalf minutes later, Card scored the first of his five goals, going around the cage and beating Sacred Heart goalie Ricardo Vargas from six yards. The Pioneers took a 2-1 lead with 4:21 to play in the period when Dan Casciano fed Bobby Karl for his sixth goal of the year and his fourth on the man-up. But Hofstra sophomore Tom Interlicchio s third goal of the year with 52 seconds remaining in the period tied the game and started a fivegoal run for the Pride. Hofstra tallied four goals in the first 3:24 of the second quarter as junior Tom Dooley scored his 10 th goal of the year and his second man-up tally just eight seconds into the period. Card notched his second of the game 1:10 later before sophomore Dan Stein picked up a loose ball behind the cage and went around and beat Vargas at the 12:01 mark. Just 25 seconds later Card notched his third hat-trick of the year with a man-up goal from 10 yards to boost the Pride lead to 6-2. After Tanzi scored his 10 th goal of the year with 8:58 to play in the half to close the gap to 6-3, the Pride scored four more in the second quarter as part of a 14-0 run to close the contest. Card, Interlicchio, and Michael Unterstein each scored unassisted goals over a twominute span midway through the second and Dooley scored his second of the game, from Ryan Carter, with 1:20 to play in the half to give the Pride a 10-3 lead at halftime. Hofstra outshot Sacred Heart, 24-13, in the first half. With the game getting out-of-hand, the frustration level rose for the Pioneers, as they were whistled for seven second-half penalties. The Pride made them pay on six of the seven man-up situations with Dooley notching three goals, and Stein, Michael Colleluori and Michael Unterstein recording the other three. Hofstra was also twofor three on the man-up in the first half for an eight-of-10 day on the extra-man. After scoring six goals in the third and outshooting the Pioneers, 16-5, Hofstra added four more goals on 13 shots in the fourth quarter. Sacred Heart did not take a shot at Pride back-up goalie Brian Schneider, who replaced starter Danny Orlando (7 saves) with a little over 14 minutes remaining, in the fourth quarter. Pioneer starter Richardo Vargas posted eight saves and allowed 14 goals in 35:21 of action while Mike Murtha made three stops and allowed six goals in 24:39.
