Freshman center Kelsey Lang has started the last three games for the Longhorns, averaging 11.3 points on 65.4 percent shooting during that three-game span. Junior forward Nneka Enemkpai ranks tied for second in the Big 12 in rebounding (8.4 rpg) and leads Texas in scoring (13.0 ppg). Enemkpali has two double-doubles and two games with over 20 points. Texas held UALR to 26 points, including 10 first-half points, in a 34-point victory (60-26) on Wednesday in Austin. It is the second consecutive game UT held its opponent to 10 points in the first half, also limiting Memphis to 10 first-half points on Nov. 30 in the Paradise Jam. UALR s 26 total points marked the 15th game in Texas history that UT held its opponent to 30 points or less and the lowest since defeating Southern, 72-23, on Nov. 30, The Longhorns lead the Big 12 in field goal percentage defense (.287), rank second in scoring defense (49.5 ppg), fourth in scoring margin (+17.9 ppg) and third in rebounding margin (+14.4 rpg). Tennessee leads the all-time series with Texas, This is the 32nd consecutive season the Longhorns and Lady Vols will meet. Tennessee has won the last four games in the series, including a decision on Dec. 16, 2012 in Austin last season. The series first began with an Texas loss on Dec. 8, 1978, at a neutral site in the Mid-America Invitational. After that, the Longhorns went on to win seven of the next eight contests before the Lady Vols won the next 13 games. Over the last 12 meetings between the two teams, the Lady Vols hold a 7-5 series edge. Texas last toppled Tennessee by the score of on Dec. 14, 2008, in Austin. Karen Aston is 0-1 against Tennessee in her sevenyear head-coaching career. -TENNESSEE CONNECTIONS Senior guard Chassidy Fussell was born and raised in Troy, Tenn., and was named the 2010 Tennessee Class AA Miss Basketball. She was a finalist for the award in Kathy Harston, Texas Senior Associate Athletics Director for Sports Programs, served as Tennessee s Director of Basketball Operations from Prior to her stint in Knoxville, Harston worked for 18 years as an assistant coach at Texas from She then served as an academic counselor at UT for one year in During Harston s time on the bench in Austin alongside Hall of Fame coach Jody Conradt, the Longhorns made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Final Four in 2003 along with advancing to the Elite Eight in 1990 and the Sweet 16 in both 2002 and Texas also claimed eight total conference championships, including five regular season titles and three postseason tournament crowns. Conradt and Pat Summitt are both Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductees and were the first two coaches to record 900 victories in Women s College Basketball. Conradt and Summitt attended each other s statute dedications at their respective institutions. Conradt s statue on the Erwin Center concourse was dedicated on 2012 and Summitt s statue near Thompson- Thompson-Boling Arena was dedicated on Nov. 22, VS. RANKED OPPONENTS Texas holds a (.436) all-time record against opponents ranked by the Associated Press on the date of competition, including a 1-1 mark this season. UT is (.378) against top-10 opponents. The Lady Vols will be the Longhorns second top-10 opponent of the season. Then-No. 6/5 Stanford came back from a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat Texas, 63-54, on Nov. 23 in Austin. The last time Texas defeated a top-10 opponent was against No. 4 Baylor on Feb. 1, 2009 in Waco, Texas. The 16th-ranked Longhorns defeated the Bears, LONGHORNS ON THE ROAD Texas is 1-0 in true road games this season after defeating New Mexico, 67-52, on Nov. 19. Sunday will mark just the second true non-conference road game in Karen Aston s two seasons at Texas. UP NEXT: FINALS WEEK The Longhorns take a week off competition (Dec. 9-14) as The University of Texas concludes the fall semester with finals week. Texas first game after finals week will be against Sam Houston State on Sunday, Dec. 15 in Austin (2 p.m. CT, Longhorn Network). CAREER STAT MILESTONES Senior guard Chassidy Fussell is 11 points away from 1,500 career points. Fussell enters Sunday with 1,489 career points (15.2 ppg). Junior forward Nneka Enemkpali is three blocks away from 50 career blocks and one rebound away from 500 career rebounds. 2

3 LAST TIME OUT: DEFENSE SHINES AGAINST UALR Texas held Arkansas-Little Rock to 26 points, including 10 first-half points, in a 34-point victory on Wednesday in Austin. For the second consecutive game, UT held its opponent to 10 points in the first half. The Longhorns also limited Memphis to 10 first-half points on Nov. 30 in the Paradise Jam. In the last two first halves combined, the Longhorns are holding their opponents to 14.6 percent shooting (7-48 FG). Prior to this season, Texas had only held opponents to 10 points or less in a half five times throughout the program s 40-year history. UALR s 26 total points marked the 15th game in Texas history that UT held its opponent to 30 points or less. It is the lowest UT opponent point total since the Longhorns defeated Southern, 72-23, on Nov. 30, Starters Krystle Henderson, Empress Davenport, Brady Sanders, Nneka Enemkpali and Kelsey Lang started for the third consecutive game as a group. Texas is 3-0 with this starting lineup. Wednesday marked the first meeting between Karen Aston s alma mater and the Longhorns. Aston is 2-1 all-time against UALR. UT held the Trojans to 19.2 percent shooting (10-52 FG), including a 13.3 percent mark from 3-point range (2-15 3FG). The Longhorns out-rebounded the Trojans 49-to-25. Texas has out-rebounded all eight of its opponents this season. Texas largest lead of the game was 36 points by a score of 60-to-24 at the 2:21 mark of the second half. Empress Davenport recorded a career-high 11 rebounds in 24 minutes of action. Kelsey Lang tied her career-high in scoring with 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting to mark her third consecutive double-figure scoring effort. Lang also started her third consecutive game. Brady Sanders went 1-for-1 from 3-point range for three points in 22 minutes. Sanders is 10-for-17 from beyond the arc over the last four games and has a team-best 54.5 percent 3-point accuracy on the season. Nneka Enemkpali scored 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting in 17 minutes of play for her fifth doublefigure scoring effort of the season. Chassidy Fussell scored 12 points on 3-of-7 shooting in 19 minutes of play, including a 3-of-4 mark beyond the arc. ALL ABOUT DEFENSE Texas has posted some of the best defensive numbers in the NCAA Division I. Through Dec. 1, the Longhorns rank fourth in field goal percentage defense (.299), ninth in scoring defense (52.9 ppg) and 12th in rebounding margin (+13.0). In the Big 12 (through Dec. 4), the Longhorns lead in field goal percentage defense (.287), rank second in scoring defense (49.5 ppg), fourth in scoring margin (+17.9 ppg) and third in rebounding margin (+14.4 rpg). UT has held seven of its eight opponents to under 40 percent shooting, including four under 30 percent Texas Women s Basketball shooting. Texas 28.7 field goal percentage defense is nearly seven points lower than the program record for lowest field goal percentage defense in a season percent ( FG) set during the season. The Longhorns received votes in the USA Today Coaches poll for the first time of the season this week. Big 12 coaches picked Texas fifth in the conference preseason poll. INJURY REPORT Due to injury, freshman Nekia Jones (right foot) will be sidelined for Sunday s game. LANG BREAKS THROUGH ON THE ISLANDS Freshman Kelsey Lang averaged 10.0 points on 60.9 percent shooting in three games at the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam (Nov ). Lang followed up by co-leading the team in scoring against UALR on Wednesday with 12 points (6-11 FG) in 22 minutes. Lang has started the last three games for the Longhorns. She made her first two starts of her career in the Paradise Jam against Texas A&M (11/29) and Memphis (11/30). The Woodlands, Texas native came off the bench to score eight points with three blocks in 19 minutes against Syracuse (11/28) made her first career start in a win No. 12/11 Texas A&M (11/29), registering 10 points (5-8 FG), six rebounds and two blocks in 24 minutes led the Longhorns in scoring with season highs of 12 points (6-7 FG) and seven rebounds against Memphis (11/30). ENEMKPALI LEADING Junior forward Nneka Enemkpai ranks tied for second in the Big 12 in rebounding (8.4 rpg) and leads Texas in scoring (13.0 ppg) this season. Enemkpali has two double-doubles and two games with over 20 points scored. The Pflugerville, Texas native notched 20 points (7-8 FG) with 11 rebounds in a win over No. 12/11 Texas A&M (11/29) for her 15th career double-double. Enemkpali recorded her 14th career double-double against Texas State (11/13) with 22 points and 17 rebounds in 25 minutes. Her 17 rebounds remains a conference high. SANDERS PRESENTED WITH JUDY DUNN AWARD The Judy Dunn Award was presented to sophomore Brady Sanders before Wednesday s game against UALR. The Judy Dunn Award recognizes an outstanding Texas Women s Basketball player who aspires to teach, coach or make a difference in youth sports. Sanders is a Public Relations major in the College of Communications at The University of Texas. Dunn s life work was teaching high school English and advancing the sport of Women s Basketball in the state of Texas. As a high school coach Judy recorded 500 wins and numerous championships with her girls basketball teams, the most with Colony High School from The Judy Dunn award was created by Judy s brother Stephen Dunn, sister Denise Dunn and friends Weezie Bailey and Jackie Baggett -- both of whom presented the award to Sanders on Wednesday. Ashleigh Fontenette was also announced as the 2012 recipient of the Judy Dunn Award on Wednesday. Fontenette is currently playing basketball overseas and could not be in attendance. SANDERS HOT FROM 3-POINT RANGE Sophomore Brady Sanders was named to the Paradise Jam All-Tournament team after averaging 11.3 points per game and leading Texas to a secondplace finish in the Reef Division, including a win over No. 12/11 Texas A&M. Sanders shot 9-of-16 from 3-point range (.563) over three games in the Virgin Islands. The Godley, Texas native entered the season shooting 14.0 percent (7-50 3FG) from beyond the arc. This season, her 54.4 percent ( FG) 3-point accuracy leads the team. Sanders came off the bench to lead Texas in scoring against Syracuse (11/28), recording 13 points on a career-high four 3-point field goals made (4-6 3FG). She added 13 points again in UT s win over No. 12/11 Texas A&M on 3-of-6 shooting beyond the arc and a 4-for-4 performance at the free throw line. TAYLOR MAKES COLLEGIATE DEBUT Freshman guard Brianna Taylor made her collegiate debut against Syracuse (11/28) after recovering from an ankle injury incurred during preseason workouts. Taylor scored her first points on 2-of-2 shooting at the free throw line against Syracuse (11/28). She made her first career field goal against Texas A&M (11/29), totaling four points on 2-of-3 shooting in 11 minutes. Taylor missed the first four games of the season due to injury. FUSSELL ON NAISMITH TROPHY WATCH LIST Senior guard Chassidy Fussell has been named to the Naismith Trophy Early Season Watch List by the Atlanta Tipoff Club, which recognizes 50 of the best players in the nation as a primer for the postseason award. Fussell is the fifth player in Texas history to lead 4 the team in scoring for three straight seasons after pacing UT in points as a freshman, sophomore and junior. Fussell enters this week with 1,458 career points (15.5 ppg). The Troy, Tenn., native has 31 games with 20 or more points in 93 career games played. Named in honor of Dr. James Naismith, founder of the game of basketball, the Naismith Trophy is awarded annually to the women s and men s college basketball players of the year. In November of each year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club board of selectors, comprised of coaches, administrators and media from across the country, chooses the preseason top 50 watch list. In February, the Naismith voting academy narrows the list to the top 30 based on athletic performance. In March, the voting academy selects the four finalists who will go to the final ballot. The winner is selected by a board of selectors vote in conjunction with fan voting. Fan voting accounts for 25 percent of the final vote. Clarissa Davis ( ) brought home the Naismith Trophy twice for the Longhorns in 1987 and TH GAME FOR ASTON Karen Aston coached her 200th career game as a collegiate head coach against Texas A&M on Nov. 29. Aston enters Sunday with a (.589) career record in her seventh season as a head coach. Aston is in her second season leading the Texas program. Prior to arriving on the Forty Acres, Aston coached four seasons at Charlotte ( ) and one season at North Texas ( ). HENDERSON Taking POINT Junior transfer Krystle Henderson has started the first eight games of the season at the point guard position. Henderson is averaging 3.1 assists, 6.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game this season. Before transferring to Texas, Henderson spent two seasons at Wichita State ( ), including one redshirt season due to injury, and one season at Trinity Valley Community College ( ). She led TVCC to the NJCAA Division I national title last season. McGEE-STAFFORD S POST PRESENCE Sophomore center Imani McGee-Stafford ranks second in the Big 12 in total blocked shots with 14 total through eight games this season. McGee-Stafford ranks third in the Big 12 in defensive rebounds with 46 (5.8 o-rpg). Last season, McGee-Stafford set a Texas record for blocks in a season by a freshman (75). RODRIGO S CAREER NIGHT Sophomore guard Celina Rodigo had a career night against Texas State (11/13), finishing with a careerhigh 15 points (6-9 FG, 3-4 3FG) in just 22 minutes. Rodrigo had just two double-digit scoring efforts prior to the Texas State game. Last season Rodrigo started 23 games at point guard, leading the team in assists (111 / 3.7 apg).

The four future Longhorns in the class of 2014 combine for three high school state championships and a.891 winning percentage ( record). Atkins, Foman and McCarty teamed up to win Nike Nationals -- the AAU s premier national tournament -- for the Cy-Fair Shock. Akigbogun, a 6-1 forward from Regis Jesuit High School, was named the Gatorade Colorado Player of the Year after leading Regis Jesuit to the CHSAA 5A state championship title and garnering unanimous first-team all-state honors. Akigbogun recorded 13 double-doubles and averaged 14.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game as a junior. She guided her high school team, coached by Carl Mattei, to a record in three seasons as a letterwinner. Both Atkins and Foman are coached by former Longhorn Cathy Self-Morgan at Duncanville High School. In the last three seasons the duo has accounted for 113 wins (113-9,.926) and two state championships at Duncanville, including an undefeated 40-0 record last season. Atkins is the No. 4 overall recruit and the top-ranked guard in the class of 2014 according to ESPN.com. After winning her second state title with Duncanville as a junior, Atkins was tabbed as the unanimous high school player of the year in Texas by Gatorade, the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and the Dallas Morning News. Atkins averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 steals, 6.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 55.4 percent from the field and 49.2 percent from behind the arc as a junior. Foman is ranked as the No. 24 guard in the country according to ESPN.com. Last season, McGee-Stafford was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year and All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after setting a Texas record for blocks by a freshman (75) and leading the team in total rebounds (281) and field goal shooting percentage (.483, FG). The Los Angeles product registered 13 double-doubles while averaging 11.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. In year-one as head of the Texas program, Aston laid the foundation for the Longhorns return to national prominence. Her first recruiting class at UT featured three starters and the 2013 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Imani McGee-Stafford. Aston, an eight-year assistant to Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame coach Jody Conradt, was instrumental in the Longhorns trip to the 2003 NCAA Women s Basketball Final Four and a pair of Sweet 16 appearances in 2002 and She returned to the Forty Acres in 2012 after five years of experience reviving the women s basketball programs at Charlotte and the University of North Texas. Aston tripled the Mean Green s victory total in one season, as UNT went during the season under her direction after winning just five games the previous year. At Charlotte, Aston led the program to record-breaking heights, with 86 victories in four seasons, including a school-record 27 wins in Aston led the 49ers to four-straight postseason appearances and the 2009 Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship en route to the school s second ever NCAA Tournament appearance. In her final season at Charlotte, Aston s squad advanced to the WNIT Final Four. While on Conradt s Texas staff from , Aston saw the Longhorns post a (.676) record during that span, with seven NCAA Tournament appearances, two trips to the Sweet 16 and a march to the 2003 Final Four. The Longhorns also captured the 2003 Big 12 regular season and tournament titles, and UT shared the 2004 Big 12 regular season title. Aston was promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach in July of 2000 after serving as UT s assistant coach for two seasons. Aston spearheaded UT s signing of 25 nationallyrecognized recruits, including seven McDonald s High School All-Americans and seven WBCA/ Nike All-Americans. Two of those high school All- Americans - Tiffany Jackson and Erika Arriaran - were named National High School Players of the Year. All eight of the recruiting classes Aston attracted were nationally ranked, including the No. 1 class in the nation in Aston originally came to Austin from the University of North Texas, where she served as an assistant coach for two seasons ( ). Prior to joining the North Texas staff, Aston was an assistant coach at Baylor for two seasons ( ). Following Aston s stint on the Forty Acres, she was named associate head coach at Baylor during the season. With Aston on board, the Lady Bears won 26 games and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Before entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Aston was recognized as one of the top high school women s coaches in the south.
