Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN2. The Cardinal lead the all-time series between the two programs, 6-4, but Texas has won back-to-back meetings In Review: The Longhorns are coming off one of the finest seasons in program history in Texas posted 31 victories, its most since the season. The Longhorns made their first NCAA Elite Eight appearance since the campaign. Texas began the year with 16 consecutive wins for the third-best start in program history. Against Regular-Season Non-Conference Foes: Texas has won 25 consecutive games against regular-season non-conference opponents. The Longhorns have concluded regularseason non-conference action with perfect 11-0 records in each of the last two years. It marked the first time in program history that Longhorn teams have opened 11-0 in back-toback seasons. A National Schedule: The Longhorns consistently play a rigorous national non-conference schedule. This season, Texas will face six non-conference opponents that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 during the campaign, including defending national champion UConn. Exhibition Win: Texas defeated Tarleton State on Sunday, Nov. 6 at Gregory Gym. Junior Ariel Atkins led four UT players who scored in double-figures with 13. Brooke McCarty swiped a personal-best six steals and the Longhorns shot 53.9 percent. Up Next: Texas returns home to play host to Houston Baptist on Wednesday. Tip-off in the Frank Erwin Center is set for 11 a.m. CT and the game will be televised nationally by Longhorn Network. It is the annual 40 Acres Field Trip game.

Stanford leads the all-time series with Texas, 6-4, but the Longhorns have won the last two meetings. Texas and Stanford are meeting for the sixth time since the season. The series dates back to a season-opening win for Texas on Nov. 20, 1981 in San Jose, Calif. QUICK HITS Texas is one of just eight programs in NCAA Division I women s basketball history to reach 1,000 all-time wins. The Longhorns achieved the milestone on January 27, Texas ranks sixth all-time in NCAA history with 1,012 all-time victories. The Longhorns are seeking their 500th all-time win in the Frank Erwin Center this season. Texas has a (.839) all-time record within the friendly confines of the Erwin Center, which opened during the season. Texas head coach Karen Aston will coach her 300th career game as a collegiate head coach when the Longhorns open the regular season at Stanford on November 14. The Longhorns are (.762) all-time in season openers. Under Aston s direction, Texas is a perfect 4-0 in season openers. The Longhorns are opening up on the road for just the second time in the last 13 years. Last season, Texas had nine different leading scorers throughout the year. Brooke McCarty led her team in scoring on a squad-best 10 occasions. Senior center Kelsey Lang needs just one more blocked shot to move onto the Texas all-time career blocks list. Lang has 111 career blocks and, with one more blocked shot, she would tie Carla Littleton ( ) for 10th place all-time. Lang has played in 104 games during her Texas career. She needs to play in 29 more games to move into the UT all-time top-10 for career games played at 133. Junior guard Brooke McCarty needs 11 more three-pointers to move onto the Texas all-time career three-pointers made list. McCarty has made 104 three-pointers in her career and, with 11 more, would tie Vicki Hall ( ) for 10th place all-time. McCarty ranks fifth in school history in three-point field goal percentage with a.385 clip (104-of-270). Current Texas assistant Jamie Carey holds the school record in three-point field goal percentage at.418. Just three players in UT history - Carey, Kat Nash and Vicki Hall - have shot better than.400 beyond the three-point arc for their careers. Junior guard Ariel Atkins ranks fifth in UT history with a.822 free-throw percentage. Atkins has made 125 of her 152 career free-throw attempts. Each of those three teams have six players on their rosters standing 6-foot-3 or taller. This season, the Big 12 Conference is the tallest conference among the Power 5, averaging 4.0 players per team who stand 6-foot-3 or taller. Now in its 17th year, the Nancy Lieberman Award recognizes the top point guard in NCAA Division I college basketball. Candidates exhibit floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is the host of the Nancy Lieberman Award. McCarty was a first-team All-Big 12 selection as a sophomore in and also was named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team. She led her team in scoring with 11.8 points per game, knocked down a squad-best 67 three-pointers and was second on the team in assists with 89. HOLMES PRESEASON NATIONAL FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR BY COLLEGE SPORTS MADNESS Texas freshman Joyner Holmes has been named the Preseason National Freshman of the Year by College Sports Madness. Holmes was the nation s No. 1 recruit in the class of 2016, according to the Blue Star Report and the No. 2 prospect in the espnw Hoop Gurlz Top 100. She was a 2016 McDonald s All-American and was named co-most Valuable Player of the prestigious Jordan Brand Classic this past spring. Holmes averaged an impressive 24.8 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists per game, 2.6 steals per game and 0.8 blocks per game as a high school senior in She charted 13 double-doubles in 35 games last year. SUTTON BACK FROM ACL INJURY Freshman point guard Alecia Sutton was cleared for return to play on Thursday, October 13 following recovery from a left ACL tear during her senior season at Parkway North High School in St. Louis. Sutton, a 2016 McDonald s All-American, sustained her injury on December 27, 2015 when her high school team was competing in the 40th Visitation Christmas Tournament and underwent surgery on February 12, She missed the entire second half of her senior season of high school basketball. At the time of her injury, Sutton was averaging 14.3 points per game for Parkway North. Sutton was the No. 6 prospect, according to the espnw Hoop Gurlz Top 100, and the No. 2 point guard in the class of She was named a 2016 Naismith Second-Team All-American and a McDonald s All-American. CAREY RETURNS TO FORTY ACRES Jamie Carey, a standout basketball player for the University of Texas from , rejoined the Longhorns as an assistant coach this past April, replacing Travis Mays, who accepted the head coaching position at SMU. Carey was a member of UT s 2003 NCAA Final Four team and also played four years in the WNBA. She has top-caliber experience at every level, including four years at USA Basketball as the assistant women s national team director. She returned to her alma mater after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Colorado. Carey s responsibilities at Texas include instructing players at the guard position, coordinating the team s offensive schemes and recruiting. TEXAS PICKED SECOND IN BIG 12 Texas was predicted to finish second in the Big 12 Conference this season, according to a vote of the league s 10 head coaches.
