Enjoying Home Cookin TCU is giving up 73.9 points per away contest as compared to just 62.5 points per home game. Grambling State, Memphis and Cincinnati are the only three of the 17 visitors to break the 70-point plateau against the Horned Frogs in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum this season, while seven of the 13 teams have scored at least 70 on the Frogs in games played outside Fort Worth. TCU had been handcuffed by the 5-8 scholarship rule over the past two years. TCU finally would have been at full scholarship strength this year even before the NCAA voted to get rid of the 5-8 rule, which allowed a maximum of five scholarship student-athletes in one year and a maximum of eight over two seasons. Congraduations Marcus and Marcus Two TCU senior basketball players were awarded their diplomas from TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. in December. Of the 12 players who have come to TCU since Dougherty arrived, 10 are from within state borders. Senior-ity TCU has a five-person senior class in , with three of the members (Corey Santee, Marcus Sloan and Corey Valsin) on their way to being four-year letterwinners. Since 1980, TCU has had just 21 players earn four varsity letters for the Horned Frogs. TCU s other seniors include Marcus Shropshire, who transferred from Texas Tech, and Aaron Curtis, who transferred from Lon Morris J.C.

5 The Line Between Winning and Losing In TCU s 18 victories, the opposition is just 391-for-1013 (.386) from the field, but in the Frogs 12 losses, teams have shot 48.3 percent (316-for-654). The Horned Frogs are scoring 10.1 points per game higher when the team wins (75.1 vs. 65.0) and are allowing 15.2 more points per game in losses (76.6 vs. 61.4). More on the Line TCU s free throw percentage of.590 is the lowest by a Horned Frog team since the squad went 415-for-810 (.512). TCU has not shot lower than 60 percent from the stripe since the season (.595). Excluding the Frogs top two free throw shooters, Marcus Shropshire and Nile Murry, who are a combined 140-for-168 (.833), the rest of the team is just 327-for-623 (.525). If You Come to a Fork in the Road, Take It TCU, 2-6 this year in league road matchups, finished 7-25 (.219) all time in Conference USA road contests since joining the league in TCU s wins are over UAB and Tulane in 2002; Houston, Marquette and USF in 2004; and Memphis and Tulane in TCU has had just one.500 or better league road record in the past 12 seasons, owning a record (.320) over that time. Top Guns TCU senior Corey Santee (225) is the fourth TCU player ever to make 200 career three-pointers. He now trails only Ryan Carroll (233) and Michael Strickland (231) after surpassing former teammate Bingo Merriex (217) against Tulane on Feb. 23. Teammate Marcus Shropshire has made 150 threes in just two seasons to scoot into eighth place on the school s all-time list. Breaking Down TCU Wins and Losses Wins (18) Losses (12) Total (Avg.) Santee now owns 560 assists in 118 career games (4.7 assists per game). Santee also ranks second in career steals at TCU with 148. Against USF, he scored five points to move past Carven Holcombe (1,734) into second place on the school s all-time scoring list. In addition to his rankings in school history, the senior will finish his career among the top 10 in Conference USA history in both categories (he is currently sixth in points and third in assists). He had his 78-game starting streak snapped on Jan. 19 against Houston due to an illness, but after rolling out of bed just before tipoff, he got dressed and entered the game immediately with 9:35 remaining in the first half. Santee led the Horned Frogs to victory after posting 10 points in 23 minutes of work in a victory. The Nile Isn t Just a River in Egypt TCU junior transfer Nile Murry has started 28 games this season, and currently ranks second on the team in scoring (12.6). Murry garnered his first career double double against USF when he led the team in both points (19) and rebounds (10). Over the past two games, he has averaged 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest. Earlier this year, he poured in 26 points against Grambling State, a figure that matched the best individual game by a Frog player this season (Santee 26 vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi). His only bigger career game came his freshman season at Temple, when he scored 33 vs. Fordham. TCU s Shrop Shooter TCU senior guard Marcus Shropshire currently ranks third on the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game. He has made at least three 3-pointers in five straight and eight of his last nine ball games. Shropshire is 56-for-61 (.918) from the free throw line and has made 104 of his last 111 (.937) from the charity stripe dating back to last year. He had made 31 consecutive attempts until missing the front end of a 1-and-1 against Memphis on Jan. 29. Who Turned on the A.C.? Senior forward Aaron Curtis has averaged 8.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game over his last 20 contests after posting 4.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game over the Frogs first 10 games. Curtis has reached double figures in points seven times over the past 21 games after reaching that mark just twice in his first 39 contests in purple. He had 13 points and a career-high nine rebounds at DePaul and 11 points and eight boards vs. UAB, narrowly missing his first career double-doubles. He netted a career-high 22 points against Cincinnati on Feb. 23, easily breaking his previous high of 15 set last year at Marquette.
