What s Happening? No. 2 Florida s visit to No. 1 Oklahoma kicks off February s collegiate schedule with a bang. This is Florida s third consecutive meet versus a 2018 NCAA Championships team. In its nine-meet 2019 regular-season schedule, Florida faces six teams among the 2018 NCAA Championships field. The Florida-OU dual airs on FOX College Sports Pacific. Meg McDonald and Olympian Kelly Garrison Funderburk call the action Friday beginning at 8 p.m. ET. A school-record bars set helped boost Florida to a season-best Friday in front of the Exactech Arena s 10 th highest gymnastics crowd of 8,615. No. 17 Kentucky also posted a season-best Friday. Freshman Trinity Thomas won three event titles outright all-around (39.70), uneven bars (9.975) and balance beam (9.925). She shared the floor exercise title at with senior All-American teammate Alicia Boren and Kentucky s Mollie Korth. Boren started the Gators bars set with a collegiate-best 9.95 (and earning the No. 3 spot on the Jan. 25 SportsCenter Top 10) as each member of the lineup posted a 9.9 or better. The Gators erases the previous bars record of set in 2007 and ranks as the nation s top total for any event so far this season. Thomas all-around total shares the nation s No. 2 total for She is one of five Gator freshmen to earn a nearly perfect for bars. After their performances Friday, Thomas and Skaggs claimed SEC Weekly honors. Thomas claims her first SEC Gymnast of the Week honor after winning four individual event titles. Her collegiate-best all-around title came after posting the nation s top total of the weekend, 39.70, which ties for second overall for Skaggs is the SEC Specialist Gymnast of the Week after upping her collegiate bars best for the second time this season. Her 9.95 tied for second overall. This is the fourth meeting between Florida and Oklahoma in a 371-day span. When the two teams met in Gainesville on Jan. 26, 2018, Florida edged Oklahoma by The two teams met in both sessions at the 2018 NCAA Championships, with the Sooners winning by in NCAA Semifinal I and taking second in the Super Six by a margin over the third-place Gators. This is the 11 th consecutive meeting between these two programs that includes the No. 1 ranking. The Sooners are led by junior Maggie Nichols, the defending NCAA all-around champion and the 2019 leader with her average of Nichols is also in the top 10 for each event, including leading the vault standings. Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland is in her fourth season with the Gators in In her first three seasons, the Gators won the 2016 Southeastern Conference title and reached the NCAA Super Six team final each year, finishing fourth (2016) and third (2017 & 2018). Nine Gators collected 36 All-America honors in NCAA competition in the last three years, including winning six NCAA event titles (Bridget Sloan: 2016 all-around, uneven bars, balance beam; Alex McMurtry: 2017 all-around, uneven bars; 2018 vault). The Gators were third in the final NCAA Super Six team championship as the smallest margin (0.2375) in the 26-year history of the format decided the top four teams. Starting this season, eight teams advance to the NCAA Championships in Ft. Worth, Texas, with four advancing to the team final. Florida returns four with 11 All-America honors earned at the NCAA Championships Alyssa Baumann, Alicia Boren, Rachel Gowey and Amelia Hundley. Among the teams in the 2018 NCAA Super Six team final, two return 20 routines (UCLA and Utah), two return 19 (LSU and Oklahoma), Florida returns 18 and Nebraska brings back 15 competitive routines. Bolstering Florida s 2019 lineup options are six freshmen the most for the Gators since the 2005 season (also six freshmen on 2005 and 2004 rosters). Two bring U.S. National Team credentials, including Trinity Thomas - the only 2019 collegiate who is a member of the current U.S. Senior National Team. In September, Thomas became the fourth gymnast on a collegiate roster (and first since 2011) to earn an international medal when U.S. took team gold at 2018 Senior Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru. Leah Clapper and Sydney Johnson-Sharpf also have competed at U.S. Championship events. Johnson-Sharpf, a member of the U.S. Senior National Team, represented the U.S. at two international assignments. Three newcomers - Nya Reed, Savannah Schoenherr and Halley Taylor all advanced to Junior Olympic Level 10 Nationals. In their final J.O. competition in 2018, Schoenherr won bars (also allaround runner-up), Reed was fourth in vault and floor and Taylor was eighth in the all-around. Clapper also competed at the 2018 J.O.s, taking ninth in the Senior D all-around. This class ranks No. 1 on the 2019 CollegeGymFans.com Top Recruiting Classes list. In the last 10 years, Florida s recruiting classes ranked No. 1 seven times and No. 2 twice.

2 MEET COACH ROWLAND Jenny Rowland, one of the nation s rising coaching talents, is in her fourth season as University of Florida s head gymnastics coach. Rowland is the seventh head coach for the Gator program, which is in its 47 th season in She shared the 2016 Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year honor with Arkansas Mark Cook. She joins volleyball s Mary Wise (1991) as a Gator coach who claimed SEC Coach of the Year honors in their first season at UF. Rowland s experiences from the sport s highest level are the same as many current Gators. She is a former U.S. National Team member, a collegiate All-American and was named a 2015 National Collegiate Assistant of the Year. Rowland is a Category 3 International Brevet level judge. She served on the judging panel for the 2008, 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials. Rowland s Coaching Career: At Florida: Florida reached the NCAA Super Six team final in each of Rowland s first three seasons with the Gators, taking fourth in 2016 and third in 2017 & Rowland was named the 2016 Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year after the Gators won that season s team title. Gators won NCAA individual event titles in each of the last three seasons. Bridget Sloan won the 2016 NCAA all-around and shared that season s uneven bars and balance beam titles. Alex McMurtry won the 2017 NCAA all-around champion and shared that season s uneven bars crown. She finished her career by claiming a share of the 2018 vault title. The Honda Award for gymnastics went to Sloan (2016) and McMurtry (2017), distinguishing them as the nation s top collegiate gymnast. McMurtry was part of a rare double in 2017 and 2018, claiming both the SEC Gymnast (2017)/SEC Event Specialist (2018) and the SEC Scholar-Athlete awards. In National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC) All-America regular-season awards, nine Gators earned 33 honors since At Auburn: Rowland came to Florida after spending five seasons at Auburn. She joined the Auburn coaching staff as an assistant coach in October of 2010 and was elevated to associate head coach in March of Rowland worked with all aspects of the Auburn gymnastics program, coordinating all of the program's community outreach efforts and interactions on campus as well as playing an integral role in recruiting and in-gym activities. She was named co-national Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015 after helping Auburn reach the NCAA Super Six for the first time in 22 years. Coaching Career Start in Sooner State: Rowland coached Elite gymnasts at Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman, Okla., for five years and then joined the Oklahoma coaching staff in June of At OU, she helped coach the Sooners to the 2004 Big XIII title, three-time team NCAA qualifiers ( ) and three Big XIII Gymnasts of the Year. As a Gymnast: During her gymnastics career, Rowland was a USA National Team member from and was part of the U.S. s 1989 World Championships team. During her collegiate career, she earned All-America honors for the uneven bars in 1993 for Arizona State. She rang the bell in Shands Pediatric Ward on May 23, 2018 to signal the successful end to her chemotherapy treatments. The team met Bailey through the Friends of Jaclyn organization. Bailey has a locker, participated in the team s SEC Network and video board shoots and stops by for a Gator practice as often as she can.

4 Gator Gymnastics Meet Notes FLORIDA QUICK HITS Florida opened at No. 3 on the 2019 Women s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) preseason poll. Florida s been among the nation s preseason top five every season since Florida returns four gymnasts with 11 All-America honors earned in NCAA Championships competition. The four earned seven All-America honors in 2018 NCAA competition senior Alicia Boren (all-around, vault, floor), juniors Rachel Gowey (bars, beam) and Amelia Hundley (bars) and sophomore Alyssa Baumann (floor) earned 2018 All-America honors. Eight Gators have been a part of their national teams, including six for the U.S. Two incoming freshmen Trinity Thomas ( , , ) and Sydney Johnson-Scharpf ( ) join sophomores Alyssa Baumann ( , , ) and Megan Skaggs ( ), juniors Rachel Gowey ( , , ) and Amelia Hundley ( , , ) as past U.S. Senior National Team members. NATION S BEST IN 2019 NCAA COMPETITION The U.S. has taken team gold in the last two Olympic Games. The depth available to U.S. coaching staff has helped the U.S. take the team gold by comfortable margins. The last two U.S. Olympic Trials contained 24 different athletes and now 13 of those gymnasts are competing in NCAA action. Florida and Oklahoma are the two programs with a pair of representatives from the 2016 Olympic Trials. The Gator duo consists of Rachel Gowey (2016) and Amelia Hundley (2016). Sophomore Alyssa Baumann qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials, but an elbow injury suffered leading up to the competition kept her out of the Trials. In the last 10 years, Florida s freshmen class ranked No. 1 seven times and No. 2 twice. Six join the Gators 2019 team, which is the biggest addition since the 2005 Florida team also added six freshmen. Two bring U.S. National Team credentials, including current U.S. Senior National Team member Trinity Thomas. In September, Thomas became the fourth gymnast on a collegiate roster (and first since 2011) to earn an international medal when the U.S. took team gold at the 2018 Senior Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru. Leah Clapper and Sydney Johnson-Sharpf also have competed at U.S. Championship events. Johnson-Sharpf, a member of the U.S. Senior National Team, represented the U.S. at two international assignments. Three newcomers Nya Reed, Savannah Schoenherr and Halley Taylor - all advanced to Junior Olympic Level 10 Nationals. In their final J.O.s in 2018, Schoenherr won bars (also all-around runner-up), Reed was fourth in vault and floor and Taylor was eighth in the all-around. Clapper also competed at the 2018 J.O.s, taking ninth in the Senior D all-around. Did You Know Every Gator gymnast has a Gator Chomp choreographed into her floor exercise routine. All-American Colleen Johnson was the first to chomp in her 1994 floor routine. It has been a part of all Gator floor routines since 1995.

6 Gator Gymnastics Meet Notes NATIONAL TEAM CONNECTIONS Eight members of the Gator gymnastics team have been a part of their national teams. U.S. National Team Four current Gators were part of U.S. gold medal teams in Pan Am Games competition. Sophomore Megan Skaggs joined juniors Rachel Gowey and Amelia Hundley on the 2015 Pan Am team. Gowey also won Pan Am gold for the uneven bars. Gowey, part of the , , U.S. Senior National Teams, was also part of the 2014 Jesolo Trophy gold medal team. Hundley ( , , U.S. Senior National team member) was part of the 2014 Pan Am gold medal team and took silver on floor and bronze on bars at the 2015 event. Freshman Trinity Thomas is the fourth gymnast on a collegiate roster (and first since 2011) to earn an international medal when U.S. took team gold at 2018 Senior Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru, in September. She was runner-up in all-around and uneven bars at the event. Thomas is the only member of the U.S. Senior National Team on a 2019 collegiate roster. She competed at the 2016 and 2017 Jesolo Trophy event and was the U.S. representative in the 2018 Tokyo World Cup, taking second in the all-around. Sophomore Alyssa Baumann was part of the U.S. s gold medal team at the 2014 World Championships in Nanning, China. The three-time U.S. Senior Team member also competed on the U.S. gold-medal teams at the 2014 and 2015 City of Jesolo Trophy events. Gowey joined her on the 2014 roster for the Jesolo event. She took second on beam on both trips to Jesolo, Italy. Sophomore Jazmyn Foberg, a and U.S. Junior National Team member, competed in the 2015 Jesolo Trophy junior division and also competed in that year s International Junior Japan meet. She was third in allaround at Jesolo Trophy and second in Japan. Freshmen Sydney Johnson-Scharpf, a member of the U.S. Senior National Team, competed in two 2016 international assignments Jesolo Trophy and Reykjavik International Games. Canada Maegan Chant competed at the 2013 and 2014 World Championships for her native Canada. She also was part of Canada s fifth-place team at the 2014 Pan American Games. 9 Gator Gymnastics Meet Notes Did You Know The average height for the Gators is 5-3. Sierra Alexander is 5-7, the tallest Gator since the 2007 roster had a pair of 5-8 gymnasts Breanne King and Chantelle Tousek. Alyssa Baumann is the third Gator to be a part of a medal-winning U.S. World Championship team. Baumann was part of the 2014 gold medal team. Mackenzie Caquatto and Bridget Sloan were both part of the 2010 U.S. team that took silver. Alicia Boren won four consecutive Junior Olympic Level 10 all-around titles (2015, 2014, 2013, 2012). Maegan Chant got her dog Charlie when she was 12. He dad said if she finished in the top three in the 2010 Elite Canada all-around, she could get a dog. She took second. Amanda Cheney started gymnastics at age six. She was involved in dance but couldn t suppress the desire to do cartwheels. She asked her mother if she could try gymnastics. Leah Clapper and her younger sister, Lily, have a food blog Zest & Finesse Jazmyn Foberg is one of two on the 2019 Gator team to graduate high school a year early to start college. Trinity Thomas also finished high school in three years to join the 2019 Gator team. Rachel Gowey learned a bit more than how to become an elite gymnast while she trained at Chow s Gymnastics. Liang Chow also taught her to count to five in Chinese. Amelia Hundley s family owns a dance studio and she s taken classes for a variety of types of dance. Her favorite? Tap. Sydney Johnson-Scharpf is the only child of Brandy Johnson (member of 1988 U.S. Olympic team) and competitive water skier, now movie/television stunt man Bill Scharpf Nya Reed claimed 10 Virginia Level 10 titles since 2013 (2018 allaround, beam, floor; 2017 vault, beam, floor; 2014 vault; 2013 allaround, bars, floor) Savannah Schoenherr already has four 10.0s earned in Georgia High School Association (GHSA) competition. She swept the five event titles at the 2019 GHSA State Championships, including scoring her final 10.0 to claim the floor title. Megan Skaggs is one of three Gators on the 2015 Pan American Games gold medal team. Rachel Gowey and Amelia Hundley also were on that team. Halley Taylor is a fourth generation Gator. She s been coming to Gator football and gymnastics events since she was a child. Trinity Thomas helped the U.S. win the 2018 Senior Pan American Gymnastics Championships gold in Peru in September (also claimed silver on bars and all-around). Thomas is believed to be the fourth gymnast to earn an international medal while also on a NCAA team roster. She s the first since Jessie Deziel (Nebraska/2011 Pan Am gold). Boren s 11 all-around victories is No. 11 on the Gators Career chart. She led the Gators in 2018 with six all-around victories and was the Southeastern Conference Championships runner-up. Boren is one of three on Florida s 2019 roster with collegiate all-around wins. Juniors Amelia Hundley (2) and Rachel Gowey (1) both claimed all-around wins as freshmen. Two Gator sophomores Jazmyn Foberg and Megan Skaggs competed in at least one all-around in Several freshmen are training all events. Gator returners from 2018 NCAA Championships (bar lineup): Beam: Florida ranked among the top four in seven of the 12 ranking reports of Its school-record beam total came versus Oklahoma. Florida returns three with beam wins in 2018, including Southeastern Conference champion Alyssa Baumann. Alicia Boren won twice, Baumann three times and Rachel Gowey shared the 2018 team high of four wins with then senior Alex McMurtry. Gowey earned beam All- America honors at the NCAA Championships. Several freshmen could claim beam spots, including Leah Clapper, Sydney Johnson-Scharpf, Savannah Schoenherr, Halley Taylor and Trinity Thomas. Options abound on this event for the 2019 Gators. UF s 2018 season high of came in the Alabama dual meet and included a 10.0 floor mark by then senior Kennedy Baker. For the second consecutive year, Alicia Boren won five floor titles. Among her 2018 wins was the Southeastern Conference floor title. She equaled her collegiate-best of 9.95 three times as a junior. Boren earned All-America honors with her 9.90 in the NCAA Semifinals. Two Gators turned in their season floor bests in 2018 NCAA competition. Alyssa Baumann earned All-American honors with her 9.95 floor routine in 2018 NCAA semifinal competition and matched her collegiate-best mark in the NCAA Super Six team final.
