Indiana has lost three-straight matches in overtime, including Sunday s 5-4 2OT loss to West Virginia. It is the first time IU has played three-straight OT matches since 2006 and the first three-match losing streak since It is the first time in program history IU has lost three-straight extra-time matches. After Friday s match with Bakersfield the Hoosiers will play host to the UC Irvine Anteaters at 1 p.m. ET Sunday. NEWS AND NOTES It was heartbreak for the third-straight game for IU as they dropped a 5-4 thriller in double overtime to West Virginia on Sept. 8. West Virginia jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute, but the Hoosiers tied things up in the 33rd minute on a header from Jacob Bushue. It only took the Mountaineers two minutes to gain back the lead at 2-1 and that is how the teams would head into the lockerroom at halftime. West Virginia added a third goal in the 55th minute to extend their lead. But the Hoosiers began chipping away as Harrison Petts score in the 59th minute cut the deficit to one. Tanner Thompson knotted the score at 3-all in the 72nd minute with his first career goal but again the Hoosiers could not hang on as two minutes later West Virginia would score for a 4-3 lead. With time winding down, Nikita Kotlov tallied his first goal of the season to tie the game at 4-4 in the 83rd minute, sending the match to extra time. The Hoosiers had several scoring opportunities in the first 10-minute golden goal OT, including a shot on an open net from Tommy Thompson that was right of goal. Early in the second OT it looked as though the Hoosiers had a game winner when Thompson headed the ball into the back of the net, but the Hoosiers were called for a handball in the box, negating the score.
