Founded in 1933, Monmouth s 156 acre campus on the former Shadow Lane estate is centered by the MAC, the three-year old $57 million Multipurpose Activities Center and the Woodrow Wilson Hall. The mansion is a National Historic landmark and was used as the home of Daddy Warbucks in the movie version of Annie. 3 Monmouth Hoops is Back The Hawks have been to the NCAA Tournament three times in the last 15 years, including 2006, but fell on hard times, going 12-18, 7-24, 8-23, 12-19, 9-12, 12-19, and 11-21, before turning the corner last season and finishing overall, 13-7 in the MAAC. This year they set a program record for wins on the Division I level. Monmouth This Year Monmouth has won nine of its last 10 games, the lone loss to second place Iona on February 19. One of those nine wins was a victory at Rider on February 12. The Hawks are coming off of an overtime win at Saint Peter s Sunday afternoon. In that game Monmouth made 18 of 18 foul shots in overtime and won The 23 wins this year is the most ever for Monmouth on the Division I level. The Hawks beat UCLA, USC and Notre Dame this season, and lost at Canisius, at Manhattan and to Iona. Monmouth is led by junior guard Justin Robinson, who is averaging 20.4 points per game. The other two guards, senior Deon Jones and freshman Micah Seaborn, are combining for 22 points and 10 rebounds per game. Jones has not played the last two games. Jones was a Third Team All- MAAC selection last year. Seaborn is the reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week. Monmouth Last Year The Hawks finished tied for third place in the MAAC standings (13-7) and were overall. King of the Hawks King Rice, the fifth head coach in Monmouth history, is in his fifth year as the Head Hawk. Rice spent the previous five seasons as an assistant coach to Kevin Stallings at Vanderbilt. He has also coached at Providence, Illinois State and Oregon. A former Tar Heel point guard, Rice is a 1992 graduate of North Carolina, where he played 140 games and went on to be the head coach of the Bahamian National teams from A native of Binghamton, NY, Rice played for Coach Dean Smith and spent 10 years coaching with Kevin Stallings. Rider vs. Monmouth Rider and Monmouth were Northeast Conference rivals for five years in the 1990s. Rider defeated Monmouth in the 1994 NEC Title Game at Rider and lost the 1996 Title Game at Monmouth. Rider is 16-6 vs. Monmouth since the Broncs left the NEC. Rider had won the last nine games against Monmouth before losing to Monmouth last year. Rider has now won 12 of the last 15 meetings with the Hawks. The Broncs and Hawks have met 44 times since the series began in with Rider winning 27. Before last year the last time Monmouth beat Rider was during the season (67-66). Rider vs. Monmouth This Year The Hawks won at Rider two weeks ago when Justin Robinson made a three-pointer with 3.8 seconds left for the final score. Robinson finished with 21 points, five rebounds and six assists. Rider vs. Monmouth Last Year The Hawks came into Rider s Alumni Gym and defeated the Broncs on January 12. In that game Monmouth took its first lead of the game with 1:39 left to play. Rider returned the favor with a win at Monmouth February 26. In that game Teddy Okereafor compiled 21 points and eight rebounds as Rider clinched second place. Broncs 3-0 vs. Hawks Rider won at Monmouth and on ESPN3 on December 5 and defeated the Hawks in overtime on January 26 at Rider. In the MAAC playoffs, Rider won hourglass Rivalry Since Saint Peter s, Monmouth and Rider are all about an hour from each other, the three-way rivalry between the NJ MAAC teams called the hourglass Rivalry was established. Similar to the MAAC s Commissioner Cup, the annual winner of the hourglass will be decided by the competition of all sports between the three. The spelling hourglass represents the fact that it is OUR rivalry.

Rider vs. Ranked Teams In November Rider played the third ranked team in the nation, Maryland, and lost by seven points. In December Rider played the 14 th ranked team in the nation, Providence, and lost by eight points. The last time Rider defeated a ranked team was in the season opener at #18 Mississippi State.

5 1,000 Point Watch Junior Jimmie Taylor enters tonight s game vs. Monmouth with 989 career points. His career-high is 25, scored last year at Wagner. This year he is averaging 9.1 points per game. Double Double Toil and Trouble Junior Kahlil Thomas has 11 career double-doubles, his latest against Niagara February 14. All 11 of Thomas double doubles have come in the last 18 games X Factor In a pair of victories over Saint Peter s and Canisius, Xavier Lundy compiled 33 points in just 37 minutes of action off the bench. He made 12 of 18 shots from the field, including three 3-pointers, and was six for six from the foul line. At Saint Peter s he scored 12 points early as Rider took a lead, and finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Smallest Player from the Smallest State Rider freshman guard Kealen Ives is the smallest member of the Rider team at 5 9". Ives hails from the smallest state in the union, Rhode Island, which is about 1,200 square miles. By comparison, New Jersey is the fourth smallest state and has 8,700 square miles. Sadler Sidelined Senior Zedric Sadler missed the last two games due to an ankle injury suffered February 14 in the win over Niagara. Sadler is a veteran of 121 games and was the MAAC Sixth Man of the Year last season. Teddy O. Honored Teddy Okereafor was named the MAAC Player of the Week for all games played January He was also named the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association co-player of the Week and the CollegeSportsMadness MAAC Player of the Week. In a pair of MAAC wins, Okereafor scored 61 points while compiling 13 rebounds and 13 assists. In Rider s double overtime win over Marist, Okereafor made a MAAC record 25 of 30 foul shots, finishing with 38 points. And Then There Were 10 Freshman Lacey James has decided to leave Rider University to pursue other college opportunities. Due to injuries the Broncs are now down to 10 players on the roster. Last Time Out The Broncs shot 35 percent from the field, 50 percent from the foul line and were out-rebounded Tuesday night, losing to Marist for just the third time in the last 18 meetings. Jimmie Taylor scored 15 points for Rider. Next Time Out Rider hosts Manhattan Sunday evening on ESPN3 for Senior Day.

Rider won a program-best 15 MAAC games and tied the program record with 21 regular season victories. Zedric Sadler was named the MAAC 6 th Man of the Year. Sadler played all 31 games during the regular season, starting seven, and was fourth on the team in scoring (7.8), second in three-point field goal percentage (.357), second in steals (1.4), third in assists (1.9) and third in minutes played (24.5). Sadler is often given the task of guarding the opponents top scorer. Teddy Okereafor was named Second Team All-MAAC. Okereafor ranked third in the MAAC in assists, fourth in steals (1.7), seventh in minutes played (34.1), 11 th in three-pointers made (1.5), 14 th in free throw percentage (.742) and 19 th in scoring. In the allimportant MAAC games Okereafor averaged 12.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists last year. Rider in MAAC This is Rider s 19th season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. In Rider was a best-ever 7-3 on national television. Rider in Broncs Zoo Rider is 6-6 in Alumni Gymnasium this year. The Broncs finished the regular season 10-3 in their home Alumni Gymnasium last year. The Broncs have won 181 of their last 258 games in Alumni Gymnasium (.700). In and the Broncs put together backto-back 11-2 home records. The season was the best in Alumni Gym history, when Rider was 13-2, which included three wins in the Northeast Conference Championship tournament. Percentage-wise, was the best year in the Broncs Zoo, as Rider went 9-1. The Broncs were 10-2 in Alumni Gym in both and And Away We Go The Broncs are 4-11 in away games this year (wins at Charleston Southern, Morgan State, Saint Peter s and at Niagara, losses at La Salle, Maryland, URI, Fairfield, Providence, Quinnipiac, Iona, Siena, Manhattan, Canisius and Marist) and 1-1 in neutral site games (W Houston Baptist, L Cleveland St). Rider was 11-5 in away games last year, not including 0-3 on neutral court, winning at Penn, at Hartford, at Wagner, at Marist, at Fairfield, at Quinnipiac, at Manhattan at Saint Peter s, at Canisius, at Niagara and at Monmouth while losing at Princeton, at Kansas, at Iona, at Siena and at Loyola Chicago and to Michigan State, Georgia Tech and Santa Clara in Orlando. 8 Head Coach Kevin Baggett Kevin Baggett was named the Rider head coach on May 24, 2012 after serving 16 years on the Division I level as an assistant. In his first season he led Rider to 19 wins, the CIT and was a finalist for two National Coaching Awards. Baggett was an assistant for two years at Rider before being named Associate Head Coach in Baggett hails from Burlington, NJ and was a 2006 inductee into the South Jersey Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Saint Joseph s University team that compiled a 26-6 record and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He received his bachelor s degree in marketing from Saint Joseph s in June, Baggett came to Rider from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he served as assistant coach from Baggett has also served as an assistant coach at James Madison, Howard, Western Kentucky and Coastal Carolina. Baggs MAAC Coach of Year, National Award Finalist Rider head coach Kevin Baggett was named the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after he took a team that was picked to finish seventh in the MAAC and finished runner-up. Rider (21-12) won a program-best 15 MAAC games last year and tied the program record for wins in a regular season. Coach Baggett was also one of 16 finalists for the 2015 Ben Jobe Award for the second time in three years The Ben Jobe Award is presented annually to the top minority coach in Division I men s basketball. Baggs Record Rider head basketball coach Kevin Baggett enters today s game with a record of overall, against MAAC teams. Last Nine Years Entering this season, the Broncs compiled 165 wins in the last nine seasons. That is the most wins of any team in the Metropolitan New Jersey/New York area. First Year Head Broncs In his first season as head coach Kevin Baggett compiled 19 wins. In their first year as Rider head coaches, Clair Bee won 19 games in , Robert Greenwood won 20 games in , Dick Harter won 16 games in , Don Harnum won 18 games in and after an interim year Tommy Dempsey won 16 games in Coach wins first year Robert Greenwood Kevin Baggett Clair Bee Don Harnum Dick Harter Tommy Dempsey Roster Rider has signed three for the academic year, Jordan Allen of Dover, Delaware, Stevie Jordan of Bensalem, PA and Xzavier Malone of Conshohocken, PA. Allen, a senior at Dover High School, was the state of Delaware s leading scorer, averaging 26.6 points per game in The 6 3" sharpshooter shot 52 percent from the field and 46 percent from the threepoint line. Allen was named First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-State. Stevie Jordan is a senior at nationally ranked Advance Prep International in Dallas, Texas. While at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School, the 5 10 point guard was named the Pennsylvania Sportswriters Class AA Player of the Year, leading Conwell-Egan to a State Championship. The First Team All-Catholic League honoree was also named the Courier Times Golden Team Player of the Year. Jordan averaged 16.8 points per game and 4.8 assists. Malone led Plymouth Whitemarsh High School to a 26-4 record and a Suburban One League Championship last year as a junior. The 6 4" Malone averaged 15 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while leading the team to the District 1 AAAA Final and PIAA State Quarterfinal round. Malone was a Second Team All-League selection.

9 Taylor NABC Allstate Good Works Nominee Rider junior Jimmie Taylor is one of just two MAAC men s basketball players to be a nominee for the National Association of Basketball Coaches Allstate Good Works Team. This distinguished award shines a spotlight on a select group of student-athletes who have shown dedication to service in their communities. In its fourth year, the Allstate NABC Good Works Team recognizes players at all levels of college basketball who have made outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement. Looking for Some Afternoon Delight The Broncs are 5-3 in afternoon games this year, losing to Cleveland State, URI and Canisius while defeating Houston Baptist, Iona, Quinnipiac, Canisius and Niagara. Rider was 5-1 in afternoon games last year. In 1994 Rider won the NEC and played Connecticut in the NCAAs on Long Island. In 1993 Rider won the Northeast Conference and played Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament in Nashville. The Broncs won the East Coast Conference Championship in 1984 and played Richmond in the opening round of the NCAAs at the Palestra. Rider Alumni Former Broncs you may have heard of: Jason Thompson 08. Graduated from Rider in 2008 and was the 12 th player picked in the 2008 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. Jason has played in over 500 NBA games, the most in Sacramento King history. He is a career 50 percent field goal shooter and has shot over 66 percent from the foul line. He has averaged 7.1 rebounds per game and 1.2 assists, along with his 10.5 ppg average. At Rider Thompson played 122 games and compiled 2,040 points and 1,171 rebounds. Jazmine Fenlator 07. Member of the 2014 United States Olympic Bobsled team that placed 11th with partner Lolo Jones in Sochi and is now pilot/coach of Jamaican Bobsled team. An accounting professor, founded Rider varsity sports in and coached football, basketball and baseball. Compiled a 53-7 three-year record in basketball before moving on to LIU, where he won National Championships. A member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Bee wrote the popular Chip Hilton books and invented the shot clock and the threesecond rule. Dick Kuchen 66. Graduated from Rider as the career leader in rebounds and was fifth in career scoring, made the winning fouls shots as Rider upset NYU. Was the head coach at Cal-Berkley and Yale. Harry Gamble 52 Captained the last football team at Rider (1951) and went on to be President of the Philadelphia Eagles. Passed away on January 28, Jack Armstrong. An All-American pitcher for Rider in 1985 as a sophomore, went on to start the 1990 Major League All-Star game as a rookie pitcher for the World Champion Cincinnati Reds. Jack Madden 65. Graduated from Rider as the career leader in points and rebounds in basketball and was 20-5 as a Bronc pitcher on the baseball team. Went on to enjoy a long career as an NBA referee, including 25 NBA championship series games.
