In conjunction with WRRC FM The Bronc, all games will be available via the Internet link located at On the Air Tonight s game and every Rider basketball game is broadcast on WRRC radio, FM The Bronc, with Daryl Fein, Kevin Bannon and Steve Rudenstein. 3 Rider vs. Hartford Rider and Hartford have met twice in men s basketball. The first time was December 29, 2004, in the first round of the Oneida Bingo and Casino Classic, hosted by Wisconsin Green Bay. Hartford won that game The last time was March 19, 2013, in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Rider won that game Head Hawk Hartford is coached for the fifth season by John Gallagher, who led the Hawks to back-to-back winning seasons the last two years (17-14, 17-16), just the second time Hartford has done that on the Division I level. A Philadelphia native, Gallagher has served as an assistant coach at Penn, Boston College, La Salle and Lafayette and was an associate head coach at Hartford. Like Rider head coach Kevin Baggett, Gallagher is a graduate of Saint Joseph s University. Hartford This Year The Hawks are 3-0 vs. MAAC teams this year, by a total of eight points. Hartford defeated Saint Peter s 51-50, and won at Niagara and at Quinnipiac on its way to a 5-1 start. Hartford lost to Central Connecticut, a team Rider beat Hartford is coming off of a win over Holy Cross on Tuesday night. In that game senior forward Mark Nwakamma scored 29 points in 29 minutes of action. Nwakamma is averaging a team-high 13 points per game, while senior guard Yolonzo Moore is averaging 10.7 points per game. Hartford Last Year The Hawks finished overall, 10-6 in the America East and were 9-3 at home. In the America East Tournament the Hawks beat #6 Binghamton in the quarterfinals before losing in the semifinals to #2 Stony Brook Hawk Athletics Hartford moved to the Division I level in all sports for the season. They moved from the North Atlantic Conference to the America East Conference in Their most successful sports have been women s basketball, women s soccer and men s and women s golf. Good Genes Hartford #43 Nate Sikma is the son of seven-time NBA all-star Jack Sikma and the brother of Portland University standout Luke Sikma. #13 Jalen Ross is the grandson of Sam Key, who played at Western Michigan and was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in #21 Jack Hobbs is the brother of Tommy Hobbs, who plays at New Orleans.

4 Bronc Briefs **Rider is located in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, between Princeton and Trenton, between New York City and Philadelphia. **Rider is in its 18 th season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. **Rider finished in a tie for sixth place in the MAAC last year. **Rider was invited to compete in the CIT in 2009, 2011 and again in 2013 **Rider began the season ranked 21 st in the nation among Mid-Majors according to CollegeInsider.com **The Broncs advanced to the MAAC Championship Game in 2008 and were selected to play in the inaugural College Basketball Invitational. ** Rider won a program-record 59 games between 2009 and **In the last seven seasons Rider has had a MAAC Player of the Year, MAAC Rookie of the Year, three First Team All-MAAC selections, five Second Team, five Third Team and four All-Rookie Team members. **This year Rider has one Preseason Third Team All- MAAC selection, Jimmie Taylor III Long Range Shooting Rider entered the 2014 calendar year with the best three-point field goal percentage in the nation at.442 percent and ended the season seventh in Division I at.397. This year, however, Rider is shooting.308 from three-point range. Foul Line Giveth, Taketh Away In the season opener the host Princeton Tigers were 17 of 20 from the foul line, while the visiting Broncs were just two of four from the foul line. In the victory over Lehigh, Rider made 18 of 25 foul shots, including 13 of 15 in the final 6:47. The Broncs were second in the MAAC and 60th in the nation in free throw percentage (.731) last year and Rider was 34th in the nation in free throws made (569). Rider defeated Central Connecticut this year despite making just 2 of 4 foul shots in the game. Rider in Broncs Zoo The Broncs are 3-0 in their home Alumni Gymnasium this year. Rider entered the season having won 159 of its last 221 home games (.720) but went just 6-7 at home last year, the worst home record since going 5-7 in The Broncs have won 168 of their last 237 games in Alumni Gymnasium (.712), finishing 9-5 at home in Rider was 8-5 at home in Rider was 9-5 at home in In and the Broncs put together backto-back 11-2 home records. That is the most wins of any team in the Metropolitan New Jersey/New York area, ahead of Stony Brook (139), LIU (136), Princeton (134), Seton Hall (132), Wagner (131), St. John s (130) and Iona (127). In the MAAC, only Siena (150) has more wins in the last eight years. Rider in MAAC This is Rider s 18th season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Rider is in conference play since joining the MAAC, including 1-1 this year. 6 Ready For Prime Time Rider is 0-4 on TV this year (0-1 ESPN2, 0-1 ESPNU, 0-2 ESPN3). The Broncs were 4-10 on TV last year (3-4 ESPN3, 1-0 Comcast, 0-3 ESPNU, 0-1 Fox Sports 1, 0-1 BIG 10 Network, 0-1 Time Warner Cable). Rider was 3-3 on national broadcasts (3-2 ESPN3, 0-1 ESPN) in In the Broncs were 1-0 on ESPN2, 3-5 on ESPN3, 0-1 on ESPN, 0-2 on ESPNU and 0-4 on Comcast. In the Broncs were 6-4 on T.V. In Rider was a best-ever 7-3 on national television. Broncs on TV This Year At least 12 Rider basketball games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks this season. At least five games will be on ESPN3, including two of the hourglass games, at Saint Peter s January 29 and at Monmouth February 26. The game at Quinnipiac January 15 will also be on ESPN3, as well as both games with Fairfield January 5 and February 5. ESPN3 ESPN3 is ESPN s live multi-screen sports network, a 24/7 destination that delivers thousands of global sports events annually and accessible online via WatchESPN.com. It is currently available to approximately 70 million homes at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. Last Time Out The Broncs cut the lead to six points with five minutes remaining but could get no closer in a loss at MAAC preseason favorite Iona Wednesday night. Rider committed a season-high 22 turnovers and missed its last six shots from the field, while Iona made five of six foul shots in the final minute. Jimmie Taylor led Rider with 16 points and six rebounds. Next Time Out Rider returns home to host Morgan State on Thursday, December 18 at 7:30pm. That game is the second game of a doubleheader, with the Rider women hosting UMBC at 5pm. And Away We Go Rider is 1-6 on the road this year, including 0-3 on neutral court, winning at Penn after losing at Princeton before losing at Kansas and losing to Michigan State, Georgia Tech and Santa Clara in Orlando. Rider recently lost at Iona. The Broncs were 8-10 on the road (6-8 in away games, 2-2 on neutral court) last season. Six of the first seven contests were on the road last year. Rider was on the road in , 8-9 in away games and 2-1 on neutral courts. The Broncs were 5-10 in away games in , not including 0-3 on neutral court. Rider was 11-6 in away games in The Broncs finished the regular season 8-8 on the road. Closing Time Rider was 13-0 last year when the Broncs have the lead with 5:00 left in the game. This year the Broncs are 4-0 when leading with 5:00 left. Rider was 12-3 when it leads at halftime and was also 12-2 when it led with 10 minutes left to play. This year Rider is 4-0 when leading at halftime and 4-0 when leading with 10:00 remaining. Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow Rider was 4-1 last season while playing during a snow storm.

7 Head Coach Kevin Baggett Kevin Baggett was named the Rider head coach on May 24, 2012 after serving 16 years on the Division I level as an assistant. In his first season he led Rider to 19 wins, the CIT and was a finalist for two National Coaching Awards. Baggett was an assistant for two years at Rider before being named Associate Head Coach in Baggett hails from Burlington, NJ and was a 2006 inductee into the South Jersey Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Saint Joseph s University team that compiled a 26-6 record and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He received his bachelor s degree in marketing from Saint Joseph s in June, Baggett came to Rider from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he served as assistant coach from Baggett has also served as an assistant coach at James Madison, Howard, Western Kentucky and Coastal Carolina. First Year Head Broncs In his first season as head coach Kevin Baggett compiled 19 wins. In their first year as Rider head coaches, Clair Bee won 19 games in , Robert Greenwood won 20 games in , Dick Harter won 16 games in , Don Harnum won 18 games in and after an interim year Tommy Dempsey won 16 games in Coach wins first year Robert Greenwood Kevin Baggett Clair Bee Don Harnum Dick Harter Tommy Dempsey Baggs Finalist for Two Awards Rider head basketball coach Kevin Baggett was a finalist for two Coach of the Year Awards in , the Ben Jobe Award and the Joe B. Hall award. The Joe B. Hall award is presented annually to the top firstyear coach in Division I college basketball. The Ben Jobe Award is presented annually to the top minority coach in Division I men s basketball. Coach Jobe is an icon in the history of basketball at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Rider in Non-Conference Games The Broncs are 3-5 in non-conference games this year (1-1 Ivy League, 1-0 Patriot, 1-0 NEC, 0-1 Big XII, 0-1 BIG10, 0-1 ACC, 0-1 WCC). Rider went 4-5 in non-conference games last year (1-0 Conference USA, 2-0 vs. NEC, 1-0 Ivy, 0-1 BIG EAST, 0-1 America East, 0-1 vs. Patriot, 0-1 vs. BIG 10, 0-1 Summit). In 1998 Rider received its first-ever National Invitation Tournament bid and traveled to Penn State. In 1994 Rider won the NEC and played Connecticut in the NCAAs on Long Island. In 1993 Rider won the Northeast Conference and played Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament in Nashville. The Broncs won the East Coast Conference Championship in 1984 and played Richmond in the opening round of the NCAAs at the Palestra. Cranberry Shirt is now Red Freshman Josh Williams will red-shirt the season due to another wrist injury. Williams, of Trenton, is a 2013 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville who attended St. Thomas More last year. Williams helped his 26-8 St. Thomas More team reach the National Prep Championship Game, averaging 10 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. At Notre Dame Williams averaged 17.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.8 blocks per game. Rider Alumni Former Broncs you may have heard of: Jazmine Fenlator 07. Member of the 2014 United States Olympic Bobsled team that placed 11th with partner Lolo Jones in Sochi. Was a two-time Rider Athlete of the Year and an All-East selection in four different track & field events. Most Outstanding Performer at both Indoor and Outdoor MAAC Championships, leading both teams to MAAC Titles. Jason Thompson 08. Graduated from Rider in 2008 and was the 12 th player picked in the 2008 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. Jason has played over 400 NBA games. He is a career 50 percent field goal shooter and has shot over 66 percent from the foul line. He has averaged 7.1 rebounds per game and 1.2 assists, along with his 10.5 ppg average. At Rider Thompson played 122 games and compiled 2,040 points and 1,171 rebounds. Richard Digger Phelps 64. Played basketball and golf at Rider, coached basketball at University of Notre Dame, currently works with ESPN, member of Rider Athletics Hall of Fame. Clair Bee. An accounting professor, founded Rider varsity sports in and coached football, basketball and baseball. Compiled a 53-7 three-year record in basketball before moving on to LIU, where he won National Championships. A member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Bee wrote the popular Chip Hilton books and invented the shot clock and the threesecond rule. Dick Kuchen 66. Graduated from Rider as the career leader in rebounds and was fifth in career scoring, made the winning fouls shots as Rider upset NYU. Was the head coach at Cal-Berkley and Yale. Harry Gamble 52 Captained the last football team at Rider (1951) and went on to be President of the Philadelphia Eagles. Passed away on January 28, Jack Armstrong. An All-American pitcher for Rider in 1985 as a sophomore, went on to start the 1990 Major League All-Star game as a rookie pitcher for the World Champion Cincinnati Reds. Jack Madden 65. Graduated from Rider as the career leader in points and rebounds in basketball and was 20-5 as a Bronc pitcher on the baseball team. Went on to enjoy a long career as an NBA referee, including 25 NBA championship series games.

Teddy Okereafor came to Rider from across the pond, London, by way of VCU, and has two seasons to play at Rider. Matt Lopez hails from Washington Township, NJ and came to Rider from Utah State and before that La Salle, and has one year left to play for the Broncs Roster Rider has signed two recruits for the season, Kealen Ives of Providence, RI and Gemil Holbrook of Philadelphia. Ives was a Providence Journal All-State selection at Classical High School last year and is currently attending Putnam Science Academy, where current Bronc Anthony Durham attended. Holbrook is a senior at Roman Catholic, the school that produced Junior Fortunat and former Bronc Mike Ringgold.
