3 Code Cranberry - vs. Princeton - December 8 Color Codes are used worldwide to alert people to various emergency situations. The use of color codes is intended to convey essential information quickly and with a minimum of misunderstanding, while preventing stress or panic. Code Red usually means a fire. Code Blue is when immediate attention is required. Code Brown gives warning of severe weather, and now Code Cranberry means Support. Code Cranberry is an initiative designed to express a unified show of support among varsity athletes at Rider University. There is a slogan among Rider athletes, that there are 355 athletes, 20 sports but 1 team. Rider SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Council), SAM (Student-Athlete Mentors) and members of the Captains Leadership Seminar took that slogan and expanded it to create Code Cranberry. On designated Code Cranberry dates, all varsity student-athletes are asked to come out to the contest, wearing their Code Cranberry tee shirt, and cheer on their fellow student-athletes in an effort to show that while they compete in different sports, they are all part of one team, and that team is Rider Athletics. The idea behind this is that while we spend a lot of money and effort to generate support for our teams externally, said Karin Torchia, Rider s Senior Woman Administrator, we need to remember how important it also is that we support one another from within our department as well. The sixth Code Cranberry is Tuesday when the Rider women s basketball team hosts Princeton at 7pm. Code Cranberry. When 355 student-athletes from 20 sports come together to support one team. Rider Athletics.

4 Women s College Basketball Rider Women Picked 4th Meyers Preseason 1st Team All-MAAC NEW YORK, NY--The Rider University women s basketball team was picked to finish fourth of 10 teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, it was announced at the annual MAAC Media Day, held at the ESPN Zone in Times Square. It shows a sign of respect for our players, said head coach Lynn Milligan. This is another example that our hard work is being recognized around the league. It is our job now to take that respect and continue to work hard to live up to those expectations. Our team goals remain the same, regardless of the number next to our name. Senior Tammy Meyers (Willingboro) is a preseason First Team All-MAAC selection after earning Second Team All-MAAC honors as a junior. It is a deserving honor for Tammy, said Milligan, in her third season at Rider. She has worked very hard and she will be the first to tell you that she wants her name called at the end of the year and that is what she is focused on. Last season, Meyers led the team in scoring (14.2 ppg.), assists (101), steals (55), field goals made (148) and free throws made (109), earning team Most Valuable Player honors while starting all 30 games. Meyers ranked third in the MAAC in minutes played (33.2 mpg.), fifth in steals (1.8 spg.), sixth in scoring, seventh in assists (3.4 apg.), ninth in free throw percentage (.757) and 12th in rebounds (5.6 rpg.) and earned MAAC All-Academic honors. The credit for Tammy s recognition goes to the entire team, Milligan said. It is a nice thing and we will enjoy it for the day and then get back to work on the court to fulfill those expectations. It is a great feeling to be recognized as one of the top players in the league, Meyers said. It was exciting. It is big for the program to be expected to win. We used to hope that we would win and now it is expected. I can go back to the team and tell them we have to continue to work hard to meet these expectations. It will be an exciting season. Defending champion Marist was a unanimous pick to repeat as the women s champion, followed by Iona and Canisius. Saint Peter s was picked fifth, followed by Fairfield, Loyola, Siena, Manhattan and Niagara. What people think of the team is a source of pride for us, Milligan added. That is why I brought Tammy and senior Amanda Sepulveda (Perth Amboy/Hun) to the luncheon. I wanted both of them to experience the joy of the day and how far they have come as players and how far we ve come as a team. It is special for those young ladies to have experienced the day. Coach Milligan has brought us her enthusiasm and passion for the game, Meyers added about her time under Milligan. She is dedicated and goes hard every day and we need to do the same for her. She puts us in successful situations to win and we are determined to go out and be successful. This is Rider s highest preseason selection in its 13 seasons in the MAAC.

5 Women s College Basketball Rider signs three for the Class of 2014 LAWRENCEVILLE Three high school seniors have signed national letters of intent to further their education and athletic careers at Rider University, Bronc head coach Lynn Milligan announced November 24. Joining the Rider squad next season as members of the Class of 2014 will be MyNeshia McKenzie, Rosalie Gentry and Senada Mehmedovic. We are very excited about this class, said Milligan, in her third season at Rider. They are true student-athletes who will represent Rider University and our program in a very positive way. They all come from successful high school and AAU programs. They are terrific young ladies who embody what our program stands for. McKenzie is a 6-0 guard/forward from Springfield, Pennsylvania, who is currently a senior at Springfield High School. As a junior, McKenzie was an All-Central League First Team honoree and News of Delaware County All-Star and earned team MVP honors. McKenzie is also a three-year letterwinner in volleyball. MyNeshia is an explosive and versatile player that will fit our philosophy immediately, Milligan said. She is hard working and strong enough to play inside and out. She will be relentless around the ball and can burn our opponents in a number of different ways. Gentry is a 6-0 forward from Downingtown, Pennsylvania who is currently a senior at Downingtown East High School. After transferring to Downingtown East, Gentry helped her team to back to back District 1 AAAA championships and earned All- Area Second Team and All Ches-Mont First Team honors, averaging 12 points per game. Rosalie is a terrific shooting post player, Milligan said. She can hit from long range and cause significant matchup problems. She will be able to stretch defenses and open up our inside game. Mehmedovic is a 5-7 point guard from Carlisle, Pennsylvania where she has already eclipsed the 1,000 point plateau at Carlisle High School. Mehmedovic will graduate as a four-year letterwinner and averaged 19 points per game as a junior, earning First Team All-Conference and team MVP honors for the second time. Mehmedovic is also a four-year letterwinner in field hockey. Senada is a combo guard that can score and run the point, said Milligan. Her ball handling skills and poise will allow her to run the offense as a point guard and her scoring mentality will allow her to play off the ball as well. She has great range and can get to the basket in the open floor.

18 New Logo - New Floor On July 25, 2007, Rider Athletics unveiled a new Bronc logo. Only the fourth Rider Athletics logo in history, the original Roughrider logo was designed by the legendary Clair Bee 80 years ago and was last used in 1989 when Rider switched to an upright Bronc. When Rider gained University status in 1994, a U was incorporated into the logo. Due to a flood in August, 2009, the Alumni Gym floor was completely replaced with the gym reopening for competition in November, Same Name, New Website In January, 2008, the Rider Department of Athletics unveiled the redesigned website. Through a partnership with JumpTV Sports and XOS Technology, we are now able to offer more content (over 60,000 pages and counting), and Bronc Vision which will live steam (audio and video) the home men s basketball, women s basketball games and video stream the home wrestling schedule (except for televised events). With the evolution of the site, other Rider sporting events will be added. Enhanced LiveStats via Gametracker will also be offered for all Rider home events in men s and women s soccer, field hockey, volleyball, men s and women s basketball, baseball and softball.
