3 Former Bronc Coach Ray Wilson Dies By: Bud Focht, Rider SID The Rider department of athletics was saddened to hear of the passing of former Rider basketball coach Ray Wilson. Wilson lived in North Carolina for the last 20 years and passed away at the age of 71. A long-time resident of Toms River, NJ, Wilson was an assistant coach of the Rider men s team in the early 1980s, including the team that won the East Coast Conference Championship and took part in the NCAA Tournament. Wilson moved over to be the head coach of the Rider women in 1985 and was named the ECC Coach of the Year his first season, leading Rider to its first-ever ECC Final Four appearance. He served as the Rider women s head coach for five seasons. While at Rider Wilson coached current Rider women s basketball head coach Lynn Milligan. He was such a nice man, and a very good coach, Milligan said. The players all really liked him. This is sad news. A 1964 graduate of Southern Illinois University, Wilson taught physical education at Lakewood High School and led the Piners to three Shore Conference Championships during his five years as the boys head basketball coach before moving on to Rider. Wilson also coached at Hammonton High School for two years, leading the Blue Devils to their first winning season in 20 years.

8 Glad to See Ya Go No team in the MAAC may be more happy to see senior Caitlin Bopp graduate than the Manhattan Jaspers. Bopp recorded her fifth double-double in seven career games against Manhattan on January 6, 2013, scoring 16 points and pulling down a career-high 18 rebounds. In seven games against the Jaspers, Bopp averaged 12.1 points and 12.3 rebounds. Caitlin Bopps Loyola On January 13, 2013, for the fourth time in seven career games against Loyola Maryland, Caitlin Bopp recorded a double-double and in her career against the Hounds, Bopp is averaging over 10 points and 10 rebounds per game. Ya-Ba-Double-Do Both MyNeshia McKenzie and Caitlin Bopp had double-doubles at Loyola Maryland on January 13, the last two Rider players to accomplish that feat was McKenzie and Bopp against Bucknell on November 13, McKenzie and Sarah Homan also had double-doubles in the same game on February 6, 2011 against Iona. Triple Double MyNeshia McKenzie had a double-double in three straight contests (December 4-11, 2011)...the last Rider player to do that was Caitlin Bopp who had the triple double feat February 14-21, Sweet 16 As a sophomore, MyNeshia McKenzie pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds against Saint Peter s on January 15, 2012 and she tied that mark as a junior with 16 rebounds against NJIT on November 12, 2012 and tied the mark again against Manhattan on January 31, One More from the Archives In 16 seasons in the MAAC, Rider has now completed 139 two-game conference series. The win against Manhattan on January 31 gave the Broncs a series sweep over the Jaspers and the win on February 7 over Fairfield gave the Broncs a series sweep in that series...this is only the 11th and 12th time that Rider has swept a regular season MAAC series...rider still has a chance to add three more series sweeps this season. 56 Renovated Alumni Gymnasium In the Fall of 2012, Alumni Gymnasium reopened to competition after a summer of renovations. On July 25, 2007, Rider Athletics unveiled a new Bronc logo. Only the fourth Rider Athletics logo in history, the original Roughrider logo was designed by the legendary Clair Bee 80 years ago and was last used in 1989 when Rider switched to an upright Bronc. When Rider gained University status in 1994, a U was incorporated into the logo. Due to a flood in August, 2009, the Alumni Gym floor was completely replaced with the gym reopening for competition in November, Same Name, New Website In January, 2008, the Rider Department of Athletics unveiled the redesigned GoBroncs.com website and the site, through a year-long process was updated again with a redesign that launched November 21, Through a partnership with NeuLion, we are now able to offer more content (over 80,000 pages and counting), and BroncVision which steams (audio and video) for the home men s basketball games, women s basketball games and wrestling matches (except for televised events). With the evolution of the site, other Rider sporting events were added in (men s and women s soccer and field hockey, along with volleyball). Enhanced LiveStats via GameTracker is also offered for all Rider home events in men s and women s soccer, field hockey, volleyball, men s and women s basketball, baseball and softball.
