About Today s Game Rider opens its 76th year of women s basketball by taking on Seton Hall in the opening round of the WNIT. 5 Head Coach Lynn Milligan Rider Head Coach Lynn Milligan is in her eighth season as head coach. Milligan came to Rider from Saint Joseph s University where she was a six-year assistant coach. Three of her last five recruiting classes for the Hawks were nationally ranked and the Hawks had 111 wins in her six seasons including five WNIT appearances. Prior to coaching at Saint Joseph s, Milligan was the top assistant coach at Drexel University for six seasons. Milligan is a 1992 graduate of then Rider College with a degree in Communication and earned her master s in Counseling in 1994 from Rider. Milligan was a two-sport stand out as Lynn Donovan lettering in basketball and softball. As a senior in 1992, Milligan helped lead the Broncs to a 9-3 record in the East Coast Conference and as a graduate assistant at Rider, the Broncs compiled a record including a record in the Northeast Conference. Milligan is the 19th head coach in the now 76-year history of the sport at Rider. Milligan has led Rider to back to back 15 win seasons. 9 Julia is Duggan the MAAC Rider freshman Julia Duggan was named MAAC Rookie of the Week for all games January 6-January 12 after averaging 10.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and she was recognized for a second time for the period February 3-9, 2014 after a 13 point performance in an win over Niagara on February 9. Duggan was then voted to the MAAC All-Rookie team for and was a finalist for MAAC Rookie of the Year and this season was voted preseason Third Team All-MAAC. Putting the Student in Student-Athlete The Fall 2013 semester academic accolades were recognized on February 3, 2014 with Emily Fazzini, Marritta Gillcrease, Alicia Hall, Mikal Johnson, Shereen Lightbourne, Janine Loutzenhiser, MyNeshia McKenzie, Manon Pellet, Kornelija Valiuskyte and Taylor Wentzel among the 229 student-athletes honored for a 3.00 grade point average or higher. Streakers Rider had a five-game winning streak broken at Manhattan on January 2, that was Rider s longest winning streak since the season when the Broncs won seven in a row...the Broncs posted four game winning streaks during the , & , and seasons. Red-shirt junior Emily Fazzini injured an ankle at practice on November 23, 2013 and missed the rest of the season. Fazzini is back for the start of this season. Silly Solly Stat of the Day - Desked by the Hall From the desk of Assistant Sports Information Director Brian Solomon, Seton Hall has defeated Rider all eight times in the series history and head coach Lynn Milligan is 0-3 all-time against the Pirates.

Against Siena, on January 24, 2014, Rider gave back all of a 10-point lead and were tied twice before winning by three, Against Niagara, the Purple Eagles cut a 15-point Bronc lead to one but never took the lead in Rider s win on February 9, Cardiac Broncs Rider has won five games last season when trailing by seven or more points during the contest. The Broncs trailed Central Connecticut by 12 on December 21, Fairfield by 12 on March 7 in the MAAC quarterfinals, Maryland Baltimore County by 10 on November 29, Binghamton by eight on December 14 and Manhattan by seven on February 1. Rider also overcame an 11 point deficit to tie Navy late in the first half on November 30 before the Midshipmen pulled away for the win and the Broncs cut a 13 point Fairfield lead to two before losing by six on December 29.

39 Rider Alumni Former Broncs you may have heard of: Jack Armstrong. An All-American pitcher for Rider in 1985 as a sophomore, went on to start the 1990 Major League All-Star game as a rookie pitcher for the World Champion Cincinnati Reds. Clair Bee. An accounting professor, founded Rider varsity sports in and coached football, basketball and baseball. Compiled a 53-7 three-year record in basketball before moving on to LIU, where he won National Championships. A member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Bee wrote the popular Chip Hilton books and invented the shot clock and the three-second rule. Hall of Famer 1995 Rider graduate and women s basketball star Jennifer Feeney was among five inductees into the Rider Athletics Hall of Fame on June 11, Feeney graduated fourth in career scoring at Rider with 1,262 points, fifth in career rebounds with 590 and seventh in career assists with 235. Christine Catalanotto 05. Two-year letterwinner at Rider, graduating Magna cum Laude with a degree in Psychology. Served two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Wagner College and is now in her fifth season as an assistant coach at Manhattan College. Pam Durkin 97. Current women s basketball associate head coach at Rider. Harry Gamble 52. Member of the last football team at Rider (1951) and went on to be President of the Philadelphia Eagles...member of the Rider Athletics Hall of Fame...passed away January 28, Dick Kuchen 66. Graduated from Rider as the career leader in rebounds and was fifth in career scoring, made the winning fouls shots as Rider upset NYU. Was the head coach at Cal-Berkley and Yale. Jack Madden 65. Graduated from Rider as the career leader in points and rebounds in basketball and was 20-5 as a Bronc pitcher on the baseball team. Richard Digger Phelps 64. Played basketball and golf at Rider, coached basketball at University of Notre Dame, currently works with ESPN, member of Rider Athletics Hall of Fame. Lauren Thomer 04. After two seasons as an assistant at Army, Thomer was named the head coach at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York in October, 2009 and was awarded conference coach of the year honors in her first season.
