About Today s Game Rider (4-13, 1-6 MAAC) heads to New Rochelle, New York on Sunday to face the Gaels of Iona College in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game...the Broncs are coming off a victory over Niagara on Friday night, snapping a six-game losing streak with Rider gaining its first conference win of the season...in the game against the Purple Eagles, senior Marritta Gillcrease had nine points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks...iona (9-7, 6-1 MAAC) is coming off a win at Siena on Friday night in a game that saw the Gaels make 14 three-pointers and 13 two-point field goals...iona defeated Rider on December 5 in Lawrenceville and the Gaels lead the all-time series the teams split two MAAC games last season with Iona winning in New Rochelle and Rider winning in overtime behind a Rider record 37 points from MyNeshia McKenzie, snapping the Gaels 18 game winning streak...iona has an enrollment of 3,018...in its 76th season of women s basketball, Rider is coming off its second straight 15 win season and the Broncs advanced to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semifinals for the first time ever...rider returns nine letterwinners @RiderWBB RiderAthletics

3 In Memoriam Cathy Carter Romero ( ) Cathy Carter Romero, Director of Creative Services in the Office of University Communications and proud supporter and mentor to Rider Athletics passed away after a long battle with cancer on January 14, She was 49. 5 Head Coach Lynn Milligan Rider Head Coach Lynn Milligan is in her eighth season as head coach. Milligan came to Rider from Saint Joseph s University where she was a six-year assistant coach. Three of her last five recruiting classes for the Hawks were nationally ranked and the Hawks had 111 wins in her six seasons including five WNIT appearances. Prior to coaching at Saint Joseph s, Milligan was the top assistant coach at Drexel University for six seasons. Milligan is a 1992 graduate of then Rider College with a degree in Communication and earned her master s in Counseling in 1994 from Rider. Milligan was a two-sport stand out as Lynn Donovan lettering in basketball and softball. As a senior in 1992, Milligan helped lead the Broncs to a 9-3 record in the East Coast Conference and as a graduate assistant at Rider, the Broncs compiled a record including a record in the Northeast Conference. Milligan is the 19th head coach in the now 76-year history of the sport at Rider. Milligan has led Rider to back to back 15 win seasons. 8 Block Party Senior Marritta Gillcrease had a career-high seven blocked shots in Rider s win against Niagara on January 16, Duggan, Diggin the WNIT Sophomore Julia Duggan scored a career-high 26 points and added 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in Rider s loss to Towson in game two of the WNIT. Two For Three Rider is scheduled for two ESPN 3 games this season, at Fairfield on January 22, 2015 and against Siena on February 5, Gillcrease Doing Good Work Senior Marritta Gillcrease was named to the Allstate Goodworks team, one of about 230 men s and women s basketball players nominated from around the country for community service work off the court. Silly Solly - Fun With Numbers From the desk of Assistant Sports Information Director Brian Solomon...Rider scored 60 points against St. Francis Brooklyn and lost but scored 59 points twice and won both games, at Old Dominion and at LIU Brooklyn...the Broncs scored exactly 51 points in three of the first nine games this season and when scoring exactly 67 points Rider has a win over UMBC and a loss at Binghamton. When allowing 55 points, Rider is also 1-1, with a win over UMBC and a loss at Manhattan and when giving up exactly 56 points, Rider is 3-0 this season with wins over Old Dominion, LIU Brooklyn and Niagara. The Wire Rider has led wire to wire twice last season, in wins over LIU-Brooklyn on November 14 (62-48) and at Monmouth (64-53) on January 5. Under head coach Lynn Milligan, Rider has earned wire to wire victories (no ties, no lead changes) 15 times. 9 Julia is Duggan the MAAC Then Rider freshman Julia Duggan was named MAAC Rookie of the Week for all games January 6-January 12, 2014 after averaging 10.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and she was recognized for a second time for the period February 3-9, 2014 after a 13 point performance in an win over Niagara on February 9. Duggan was then voted to the MAAC All-Rookie team for and was a finalist for MAAC Rookie of the Year and this season was voted preseason Third Team All-MAAC. Putting the Student in Student-Athlete The Spring 2014 semester academic accolades were recognized on December 3, 2014 with Emily Fazzini, Manon Pellet, Marritta Gillcrease, Mikal Johnson, Taylor Wentzel, Shereen Lightbourne, MyNeshia McKenzie and Robin Perkins among the 205 student-athletes honored for a 3.00 grade point average or higher. Streakers Rider had a five-game winning streak broken at Manhattan on January 2, that was Rider s longest winning streak since the season when the Broncs won seven in a row...the Broncs posted four game winning streaks during the , & , and seasons. M*A*S*H Update - (a/k/a the Dain Report) From the desk of Athletic Trainer Gina Dain, junior Taylor Wentzel is back after missing the season with a knee injury. Wentzel missed the Lafayette game on November 25 with a lower body injury after playing the first two games of the season but returned to action at Old Dominion on November 30. Sophomore Julia Duggan suffered a concussion at Penn State on December 14 and missed two games against UMBC on December 18 and at Binghamton on December 21 before returning at Delaware on December 29. And Away We Go Rider opened the season with three games away from home in a row and overall, 11 of Rider s first 14 games were away from Alumni Gym in Lawrenceville. Minutemen Despite the game going into overtime at Old Dominion on November 30, not one Rider player logged more than 35 minutes with the Broncs going 12 deep to defeat the Lady Monarchs Deja Vu Going back through available records from 1977 to the current season, the final scores in back to back wins November 30 and December 2 are the first time that Rider women s basketball has won back to back games by the same score. The closest scores in back to back losses was against Fairfield on January 29, 2006 and against Saint Peter s on February 3, The closest back to back wins to the same score was over Manhattan on January 11, 2009 and a victory over Pennsylvania on January 13, Twenty Something Senior Marritta Gillcrease pulled down 20 rebounds in Rider s win over UMBC, only the third different player in Rider history to record at least 20 rebounds in a game...the Rider record is held by Jessica Beck (26) with MyNeshia McKenzie compiling 20 rebounds against Binghamton last season. More Fun With Numbers Both Marritta Gillcrease and MyNeshia McKenzie recorded four offensive rebounds and 16 defensive rebounds in their 20 rebound efforts.

10 Lights Out Rider shot 73.9 percent at Siena on December 31, 2013 in the second half (17-23), the best shooting half since Rider shot 62.5 percent (15-24) in the second half against Fairfield on February 7, An Afternoon Delight 10 of Rider s 15 wins last season came during games played in the afternoon. Get Ahead, Stay Ahead One of the keys to Rider s overtime win at Old Dominion was never giving up the lead in the second half, despite ODU forcing three ties, 40-40, and Cardiac Broncs Rider has won five games last season when trailing by seven or more points during the contest. The Broncs trailed Central Connecticut by 12 on December 21, Fairfield by 12 on March 7 in the MAAC quarterfinals, Maryland Baltimore County by 10 on November 29, Binghamton by eight on December 14 and Manhattan by seven on February 1. 39 Rider Alumni Former Broncs you may have heard of: Jack Armstrong. An All-American pitcher for Rider in 1985 as a sophomore, went on to start the 1990 Major League All-Star game as a rookie pitcher for the World Champion Cincinnati Reds. Clair Bee. An accounting professor, founded Rider varsity sports in and coached football, basketball and baseball. Compiled a 53-7 three-year record in basketball before moving on to LIU, where he won National Championships. A member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Bee wrote the popular Chip Hilton books and invented the shot clock and the three-second rule. Hall of Famer 1987 Rider graduate and women s basketball star Linda DiGiuseppantonio will be inducted into the Rider Athletics Hall of Fame in June of Linda D graduated fifth in career scoring and third on Rider s career assist list and led Rider to its first Division I Conference semifinal game and was a two-time All-Conference honoree. Christine (Sikiric) Catalanotto 05. Two-year letterwinner at Rider, graduating Magna cum Laude with a degree in Psychology. Served two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Wagner College and is now in her seventh season as an assistant coach at Manhattan College. Pam Durkin 97. Current women s basketball associate head coach at Rider. Harry Gamble 52. Member of the last football team at Rider (1951) and went on to be President of the Philadelphia Eagles...member of the Rider Athletics Hall of Fame...passed away January 28, Dick Kuchen 66. Graduated from Rider as the career leader in rebounds and was fifth in career scoring, made the winning fouls shots as Rider upset NYU. Was the head coach at Cal-Berkley and Yale. Jack Madden 65. Graduated from Rider as the career leader in points and rebounds in basketball and was 20-5 as a Bronc pitcher on the baseball team. Went on to enjoy a long career as an NBA referee, including 25 NBA championship series games. Lynn Milligan 92, 94. Current head coach of the women s basketball team at Rider. Richard Digger Phelps 64. Played basketball and golf at Rider, coached basketball at University of Notre Dame, currently works with ESPN, member of Rider Athletics Hall of Fame. Lauren Thomer 04. After two seasons as an assistant at Army, Thomer was named the head coach at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York in October, 2009 and was awarded conference coach of the year honors in her first season.
