Pennsylvania Basketball Coaches Association The Pennsylvania Basketball Coaches Association has been established to increase communication and opportunities for the professional development of basketball coaches. Our goal is to maintain the highest possible standards of the basketball coaching profession, and to work together to improve the game of basketball in Pennsylvania. Our support is focused on all individuals who coach basketball and mentor young men and women as a profession. PABCA members have will be able to improve their skills and knowledge, engage in healthy dialogue relative to coaching issues, and network with their peers. We encourage the pursuit of sportsmanship and character development, our aim is to help the advancement of Pennsylvania basketball while fostering friendship and support among coaches, referees and others. We will promote efforts to enhance professional growth, advocate and maintain the highest possible standards and ethics in the coaching field, and provide our members with the latest coaching methods and techniques in reference to teaching basketball. 2 2 Coaches Named for 2016 USA Women's U17 World Championship Team The 2016 USA Basketball Women s U17 World Championship Team will be led by Dori Oldaker, head coach at Mt. Lebanon High School in Pennsylvania, with USA assistant coaches Dianne Lewis of Thomas Edison High School in Virginia and Samantha Quigley, who is the head mentor at the University of St. Francis (NAIA). The USA Basketball Women s Developmental National Team Committee selected the coaching staff. The trio helped the USA qualify for the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship, which will be played June 22-July 2 in Zaragoza, Spain, by virtue of a bronze-medal finish at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. 5 Inaugural Clinic 5 Pitt Head Coach Kevin Stallings Head Basketball Coach Kevin Stallings signed on as host of the inaugural Pennsylvania Basketball Coaches Association Clinic coming this September. Stallings arrived at Pitt in April, beginning his outreach to regional coaches. When approached by the PABCA, Coach Stallings stepped in and hit the ground running to get the event locked into the Petersen Events Center on Pitt s Oakland Campus. This clinic is a great opportunity to introduce our Pitt staff to the regions coaches. Building a successful program starts with building successful relationships that help us identify and bring the best players to Pitt. Stallings said when talking about why he chooses the PABCA Clinic as his first partnership project with the Pennsylvania Basketball Community. The clinic provides attendees with opportunities to learn from Stallings, his staff and guest clinicians from other programs throughout the country. Click here to learn more about the clinic. 6 6 Inaugural Clinic The FedEx Pennsylvania Basketball Coaches Association s Coaches Clinic September 29-30, 2016 PA Basketball Coaches Association s vision is to provide a format for educational and networking opportunities for all coaches at all levels. This first event is scheduled to be held at The Peterson Events Center. Coaches will be brought in Thursday, 9/26, 6-9 with a speaker format and time off along with a trade show; a speaker series will follow on Friday, 9/30, 9-4. The speakers series of coaches will feature Kevin Stallings and Suzie McConnell Serio. Three hundred to 400 coaches from all over Pennsylvania are expected to attend, including university, college and high school coaches. A special event at Rivers Casino will be available for all coaches Thursday night. Transportation will be provided. Become a PABCA Member today in time for our 1st event!
