Thursday's meeting will serve as a rematch of one of the greatest games of the 2016 NCAA Tournament. In that thriller in St. Louis, UW trailed by nine with 6:00 remaining, but stormed back to pull off a win in the second round of the Big Dance. A er assuming the head coaching reins on Dec. 15, 2015, Gard will begin his third season as the head coach of the Badgers in on the heels of leading the team to the Sweet 16 in each of his first two seasons at the helm. A er ini ally taking over on an interim basis, Gard was officially named head coach of the Badgers on March 7, In two seasons, he has piloted the Badgers to a record of (.700), owning the second-best 60-game start in program history.
