10 GAME 17: AT RUTGERS HEAD COACH GREG GARD A coaching veteran of more than 20 years, Greg Gard has expertly made the jump from assistant coach to head coach at Wisconsin. A er assuming the head coaching reins on Dec. 15, 2015, Gard will begin his third season as the head coach of the Badgers in on the heels of leading the team to the Sweet 16 in each of his first two seasons at the helm. A er ini ally taking over on an interim basis, Gard was officially named head coach of the Badgers on March 7, In two seasons, he has piloted the Badgers to a record of (.700), owning the second-best 60-game start in program history. In his first two seasons with the head coaching tle, Gard has maintained a level of success that has become synonymous with Wisconsin Basketball. In his inaugural season as head coach, Gard led the Badgers to the 2016 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, becoming just the second-ever first-year coach to win the Jim Phelan Na onal Coach of the Year award.
