THE X FACTORS...IN 140 CHARACTERS OR LESS Xavier is making its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance in 11 years. XU is one of only nine schools that can say that. Xavier is one of only nine teams that have been to five NCAA Sweet 16s in the last eight NCAA Tournaments ( ). Xavier s No. 2 seeding is the highest in program history, surpassing the No. 3 seed teams of 2003 and 2008 (an NCAA Elite Eight squad). Xavier is 10-3 against teams in the Tournament field. Xavier seventh-year head coach Chris Mack has led XU to six NCAA Tournaments in seven years, including three Sweet 16 appearances. 6 THE XAVIER-WEBER STATE SERIES: Xavier and Weber State have never met. FOR THE RECORD (WEBER STATE): Weber State, 26-8, earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last three years after winning the Big Sky Tournament. Weber State also won the Big Sky regular season title, posting a 15-3 record in conference play. Weber State senior Joel Bolomboy, who averages 17.2 ppg. and 12.7 rpg., was named Big Sky MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. Junior Jeremy Senglin leads the Wildcats in scoring at 18.2 ppg. and was named Big Sky Tournament MVP. XAVIER VS. THE FIELD: Xavier is 10-3 against teams in this year s tournament, picking up wins against Butler (2-0), Cincinnati (1-0), Dayton (1-0), Michigan (1-0), Providence (2-0), Seton Hall (1-2), Southern Cal (1-0) and Villanova (1-1). Eight of those 13 games were played on the road or at a neutral site. FIVE BIG EAST NCAA TEAMS: The Musketeers are one of five BIG EAST Conference schools in this year s NCAA Tournament (No. 2 seed Xavier, No. 2 seed Villanova, No. 6 seed Seton Hall, No. 9 seed Butler and No. 9 seed Providence). Xavier s only losses against the field came against conference competition XAVIER S NO. 2 SEED IS THE TOP SEED IN PROGRAM HISTORY: Xavier s No. 2 seed is the highest in program history. Xavier was a No. 3 seed in the 2003 and 2008 NCAA Tournaments. XAVIER S NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY: Xavier, all-time in the NCAA Tournament, was 1-6 in NCAA play prior to 1990 but is from 1990-present. XU lost to the eventual National Champions in the first round in 1988 (Kansas) and 1989 (Michigan). Xavier is making its 26th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2016, which includes 16 atlarge berths, six automatic berths through the MCC and four automatic berths in the Atlantic 10 (2006, 2004, 2002 and 1998). FOR THE RECORD (XAVIER): Xavier, 27-5 overall and ranked No. 9 in the final AP Poll and No. 9 in the USA Today Poll, finished second in the BIG EAST Conference at XU reached the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. Xavier s 14 BIG EAST wins are the most for XU since it joined the league for the season. SEEING ONE OF XAVIER S TOP WINNING SEASONS: Xavier, 27-5, clinched its third straight 20-win season, its 10th in 11 years and 18th in 20 years. Xavier s 27 wins are tied for third-most wins in a season with the team. XU won 28 games in its NCAA Sweet 16 season and a school-record 30 games in the NCAA Elite Eight season. Xavier s 26 regular season wins matched the most regular season victories in school history (26 in ). XAVIER IN THE NATIONAL POLLS: Xavier, 27-5, is ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll and No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. This marks Xavier s 17th straight week in the AP Top 25 and its 16th straight week in the USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25. This is the 14th straight week that Xavier has been in the Top 10 of the AP Poll. XAVIER VS. THE AP TOP 25: Xavier is 6-1 so far this season against the AP Top 25, including 3-0 vs. the AP Top 10. Xavier s latest Top 25 win was its win over then-no. 1 Villanova on Feb. 24. NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR CHRIS MACK... SECOND ON XU S ALL-TIME WINS LIST: Head coach Chris Mack was selected as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association s Henry Iba Award winner as National Coach of the Year. Mack was named as the BIG EAST Conference Coach of the Year by CBS Sports and Bleacher Report. Mack has recorded a (.679) mark in seven seasons so far, which is good for second on Xavier s all-time wins list. He has passed Skip Prosser (148 wins in seven seasons from ) and now trails only Pete Gillen (202 wins in nine seasons from ). Mack played under Gillen and then-gillen assistant Prosser and worked on Prosser s staffs at XU and Wake Forest. Mack has led Xavier to the NCAA Tournament six times in his seven seasons at the helm. He is the first XU head coach to lead XU to three Sweet 16s, having led XU to the Sweet 16 in 2010, 2012 and PERFECT AND NEAR PERFECT TRENDS: Xavier is 25-0 this season when leading at the half and 25-0 when shooting at least 40 percent. XU is 21-1 when having at least four players score in double figures. XAVIER IS GETTING DEFENSIVE: Xavier is ranked fourth in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage defense (.416) and first in the BIG EAST in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.315). By comparison, for the season Xavier was eighth in field goal percentage defense (.435) and seventh in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.345).

7 BIG EAST LEADERSHIP: Xavier leads the BIG EAST Conference in scoring offense (18th in the nation at 81.3 ppg.), rebound margin (20th in the nation at +7.5 rpg.), and assists (27th in the nation at 16.4 apg.), and is second in the BIG EAST in two other major categories: scoring margin (26th in the nation at ppg.) and 3-point field goal percentage (.362). RUN, RUN, RUN: Xavier has put together some impressive runs, including 13-0 to start the second half at Georgetown on Feb. 20 and take control of the game, 30-8 to end the first half at Butler on Feb. 13, 17-1 at the end of the first half at DePaul on Jan. 30, a 21-0 run in the first half of the Jan. 16 win at Marquette, 25-0 (first half vs. Wright State on Dec. 8), 21-0 (second half vs. Dayton on Nov. 29) and 17-0 (first half vs. USC on Nov. 27). XU used a 21-4 second-half run, including 10-0 to start the second half, in a win at Wake Forest on Dec. 22. TRUE BALANCED SCORING: Xavier has four players with double-figure scoring averages and two more at 9.4 ppg. or more. Sophomore Trevon Bluiett (ninth in the BIG EAST at 15.5 ppg.) leads the way followed by freshman Edmond Sumner (25th in the BIG EAST at 11.3 ppg.), junior Myles Davis (26th in the BIG EAST at 11.1 ppg.), senior James Farr (28th in the BIG EAST at 10.8 ppg.), sophomore J.P. Macura (9.6 ppg.) and junior Jalen Reynolds (9.4 ppg.). XU is 21-1 this season when at least four players score in double figures. NAME THE SCORING LEADERS: Seven different Xavier players have led XU in scoring at least twice this season: Sophomore Trevon Bluiett (16 times), freshman Edmond Sumner (6), junior Myles Davis (4), junior Jalen Reynolds (4), senior James Farr (3), senior Remy Abell (2) and sophomore J.P. Macura (2). BOARD CHAIRMEN: Xavier leads the BIG EAST and is 20th in the nation in rebound margin at +7.5 rpg. Xavier has outrebounded 27 opponents and tied two in 32 games this season. XU has only been outrebounded three times (Georgetown on Jan. 19, Marquette on Feb. 6 and Seton Hall on Feb. 28, although XU has also outrebounded those three teams at least once in other meetings this season). Xavier outrebounded Michigan on Nov. 20, Alabama on Nov. 26, USC on Nov. 27 and Dayton on Nov. 29. XU has three players ranked in the top 15 in the BIG EAST in rebounding. Senior James Farr leads the team in rebounding at 7.8 rpg. (third in the BIG EAST), including his career-high 19-rebound game at Marquette on Jan. 16 and a game-high 15 vs. Seton Hall on Jan. 23, followed by junior Jalen Reynolds at 6.4 rpg. (12th in the BIG EAST) and sophomore Trevon Bluiett at 6.2 rpg. (14th in the BIG EAST). FOUR GUYS HAVE SIGNED THE BUBBLE: When a Musketeer grabs a double-figure rebound total they are asked to sign the rebounding bubble, the device that sits over the rim for rebounding drills in practice. Senior James Farr has signed the bubble nine times, including March 11 vs. Seton Hall with 10 rebounds, Feb. 13 at Butler after his 12-rebound effort, Jan. 16 after his 19-rebound game at Marquette and Jan. 23 after grabbing 15 vs. Seton Hall. Juniors Myles Davis (12) and Jalen Reynolds (15) grabbed double-figure rebound totals vs. Providence on Feb. 17. Sophomore Trevon Bluiett has done it five times and junior Jalen Reynolds has done it four times, including a game-high 11 at Providence on Jan. 26 as part of a double-double that included 15 points. Junior Myles Davis posted his first career double-figure rebound game with the 12 vs. Providence. IF IT S FREE IT S FOR ME: Xavier has hit 608-of-832 from the free-throw line for 73.1 percent (fourth in the BIG EAST), including its impressive 93.5 percent effort (29-of-31) at Georgetown on Feb. 20. Three Xavier players are in the top 15 in free-throw percentage in the BIG EAST: Junior Myles Davis is second in the BIG EAST at 85.1 percent, sophomore J.P. 8 BLUIETT S BIG EAST HONORS: Sophomore guard Trevon Bluiett, who was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, earned a spot on the BIG EAST Tournament All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.5 ppg. for XU s two games at Madison Square Garden. During the season Bluiett earned BIG EAST Conference weekly honors seven times, including being named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 22 for a second time. In addition, he has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll five times this season. Bluiett averaged 18.0 points and 5.5 rebounds vs. Providence on Feb. 17 and at Georgetown on Feb. 20, including a game-high 23 points and six rebounds in the Providence win. Bluiett was named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week on Jan. 18 after averaging 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in a pair of Xavier wins (DePaul on Jan. 12 and at Marquette on Jan. 16). Bluiett also leads the team in doublefigure scoring games (30) and times as team s leading scorer (16). Bluiett is third on the team in rebounding at 6.2 rpg. (14th in the BIG EAST) and free-throw percentage (15th in the BIG EAST at 77.0 percent). DOUBLING UP: Sophomore Trevon Bluiett has scored in double figures in 30 of the first 32 games, including doublefigure scoring streaks of 13 games and nine games. His current streak is at eight games. Bluiett, who hit 9-of-14 from the field in his career-high tying 24-point effort on March 10 vs. Marquette, posted a 23-point game in the Providence win on Feb. 17 and also had a game-high 23 points on the strength of a career-high tying five 3-pointers to go with a careerhigh eight assists on Feb. 6 vs. Marquette. Bluiett posted a team-high 18 (11 in the second half) in the win at Marquette on Jan. 16 and a career-high 24-point effort in XU s game vs. DePaul on Jan. 12 (19 in the first half alone). DOUBLE THE PRODUCTION: Sophomore Trevon Bluiett has a team-high tying five double-doubles in scoring-rebounding this season and six for his career, including 15 points to go with a game-high 13 rebounds on Feb. 3 vs. St. John s. Bluiett had an 18-point, 10-rebound, five-assist game on Jan. 19 vs. Georgetown. His other three double-doubles this season include 21 points and 10 rebounds vs. Western Kentucky on Dec. 5 and 22 points with 11 rebounds vs. Wright State on Dec. 8. Bluiett led Xavier against NKU on Nov. 23 with 14 points, a career-high 16 rebounds and five assists. He just missed another double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds at Wake Forest on Dec. 22. DAVIS WAS A TRIPLE THREAT VS. PROVIDENCE: Junior Myles Davis recorded his first career triple-double on Feb. 17 vs. Providence with 11 points and career highs of 12 assists and 12 rebounds. Myles is the first XU player to record a triple-double since Tu Holloway in 2011 (26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists vs. Fordham at Cintas Center on Feb. 19, 2011). DAVIS IS STEPPING UP: Junior Myles Davis has averaged 12.3 ppg. over the last eight games while shooting 44.4 percent (20-of-45) from 3-point territory. Davis, who had a 24-point, seven-assist game vs. Creighton on March 5, had a 16-point, sixassist game in the Villanova win on Feb. 24. Davis is third on the team in scoring at 11.1 ppg. (26th in the BIG EAST Conference) and leads the team in assists (eighth in the BIG EAST at 4.2 apg.) and assist-toturnover ratio (fourth in BIG EAST at 2.2). He is second in the BIG EAST in free-throw shooting (.851). (Davis led the BIG EAST in free-throw shooting as a sophomore at.872). Davis is second on the team and seventh in the BIG EAST Conference in 3-point field goals per game (2.0) and is second on the team and sixth in the BIG EAST in 3-point field goal percentage (.387). Davis, who has 20 double-figure scoring games this season, contributed 11 points and six assists to the Feb. 6 Marquette win. Davis led XU with 16 points (all in the second half) and five assists vs. St. John s on Feb. 3. Davis had 13 points to go with seven assists, five rebounds and three steals at Providence on Jan. 26 and finished with 14 points and seven assists in the DePaul win on Jan. 12. Davis had a game-high 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field to go with three assists in the Cincinnati win on Dec. 12. Davis, who posted a 16-point, six-assist game vs. Western Kentucky on Dec. 5, had 14 points, six rebounds and three assists at Michigan on Nov. 20 and 12 points vs. USC on Nov. 27 and Dayton on Nov. 29. FREE-THROW PERCENTAGE LEADER: Junior Myles Davis is second in the BIG EAST Conference in free-throw shooting (.851). (Davis led the BIG EAST in free-throw shooting as a sophomore at.872). Davis had a streak of 24 straight free throws made earlier this season. DAVIS EARNED BIG EAST WEEKLY HONORS FOUR TIMES: Junior Myles Davis was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the fourth time this season (second straight week) on March 6. Davis scored a team-high 24 points and dished off a team-high seven assists in Xavier s win over Creighton in the regular season finale on March 5. BIG EAST honor on Feb. 29: Davis averaged 15.5 points,

9 5.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds for Xavier s two games (Villanova on Feb. 24 and at Seton Hall on Feb. 28), which included 16 points and six assists in the win over then-no.1 Villanova. Davis earned the BIG EAST honor on Jan. 11 for a second time this season after leading Xavier with 19 points in the win at St. John s on Jan. 6, including 16 in the second half. In fact, Davis scored 16 of XU s final 26 points. He added four assists, three rebounds and a steal while hitting all nine of his free-throw attempts. Davis also earned BIG EAST honor on Dec. 14 for his efforts in the wins over Wright State on Dec. 8 and No. 23 Cincinnati on Dec. 12. In addition, CollegeSportsMadness.com selected Davis as its BIG EAST Player of the Week on Dec. 12. He averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists for two games, while shooting 62.5 percent from the field. XAVIER S GLUE GUY FARR IS DOU- BLING UP: Senior James Farr has been a big key to the Xavier success this season and Sports Illustrated recognized that by naming him to its 2016 All-Glue Team. One area where Farr has been a key leader is on the boards. Farr led Xavier with 10 rebounds to go with 18 points vs. Seton Hall on March 11, marking his fifth double-double of the season and the seventh of his career, while also marking his ninth double-figure rebound game of the season and 17th of his career. Farr had a monster game with a career-high 24 points, a game-high 15 rebounds, three blocks, a career-high four assists and two steals in the Jan. 23 win over Seton Hall. Farr, who grabbed a careerhigh 19 rebounds at Marquette on Jan. 16 (most since Travis Taylor, who had 19 in a win over St. Louis on ), completed the double-double at Marquette with 16 points (all 16 in the first half). Farr also posted a double-double vs. Auburn on Dec. 19 with 11 rebounds and 12 points. Farr had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds in the win over Missouri on Nov. 17. Farr, who has grabbed a teamhigh 7.8 rpg. (third in the BIG EAST Conference), collected a game-high 13 rebounds in the win at Michigan on Nov. 20. FARR BETTER ON OFFENSE: Senior James Farr, who had a career-high 24 points vs. Seton Hall on Jan. 23 and 17 at Seton Hall on Feb. 28, posted a 16-point game in the win over Creighton on March 5. Farr has averaged 14.5 ppg. over the last six games on 61.8 percent (34-of-55) shooting from the field. For the season, Farr is averaging 10.8 ppg. (fourth on the team and 28th in the BIG EAST). Farr, who has posted 18 double-figure scoring games including 14 at Georgetown on Feb. 20, is fifth in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage (.552), a sharp jump over his career average (.462) entering this season. Farr has only taken eight 3-point field goal attempts this season or 3.2 percent of his field goal attempts compared with 35.5 percent of his field goal attempts being from behind the arc over his first three seasons combined. In addition, Farr is shooting 71.9 percent from the free-throw line, a big jump from his career percentage (.500) entering this season. FIVE-TIME BIG EAST FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK NAMED TO BIG EAST ALL- FRESHMAN TEAM... EARNING NATIONAL PRAISE: Freshman Edmond Sumner, who was a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team in the coaches voting, was selected Second Team All-BIG EAST by CBS Sports and Bleacher Report. During the season, Sumner was named BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week five times, including on Feb. 22 after averaging 16.5 points and 2.0 assists with 0 turnovers in Xavier wins over then-no. 23/20 Providence on Feb. 17 and at Georgetown on Feb. 20. Sumner shot 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the field, including 66.7 percent (2-of-3) from 3-point range, and 100 percent (11-of-11) from the free-throw line for the week. Sumner led Xavier with a career-high 22 points in the win at Georgetown. Sumner won the award Feb. 8 after averaging 15.0 points, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals in Xavier s wins over St. John s on Feb. 3 and Marquette on Feb. 6, including 20 points to go with five assists in the Marquette win. Sumner also earned the honor Jan. 18 after contributing 15 points, five assists and three rebounds in the Jan. 16 victory at Marquette. Sumner was the BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week two straight weeks (Dec. 21 and 28) before his Dec. 31 injury at Villanova: Sumner earned the BIG EAST award Dec. 28 after scoring a game-high 21 points in the win at Wake Forest on Dec. 22, while grabbing a career-high and game-high tying nine rebounds. He also added two assists and two steals. In addition to the BIG EAST award that week, Sumner was named Wayman Tisdale National Freshman of the Week for games ending the week of Dec. 27; selected by CBSSports.com s Matt Norlander, in partnership with the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Sumner earned the BIG EAST honor Dec. 21 after scoring 13 points with five assists and six rebounds vs. Auburn on Dec. 19. SUMNER MAKING A POINT: Freshman Edmond Sumner is second on the team in scoring at 11.3 ppg. (25th in the BIG EAST) and is second on the team in assists at 3.5 apg. (11th in the BIG EAST) following his 21-point, career-high tying nine-rebound and four-assist game vs. Seton Hall on March 11. Sumner has averaged 13.0 ppg. over the last 10 games. Sumner, who collected 19 points (11-of-13 shooting from the free-throw line), a career-high nine assists and six rebounds vs. Villanova on Feb. 24, posted a career-high 22-point game at Georgetown on Feb. 20 and a 20-point, five-assist effort vs. Marquette on Feb. 6. Sumner, who had six assists vs. Alabama on Nov. 26, has 21 double-figure scoring games this season. Sumner, who has started 27 games, started each of the first 13 games before suffering an injury less than three minutes into the game at Villanova on Dec. 31. Sumner returned to court for the game at Marquette on Jan. 16, coming off the bench to contribute 15 points, five assists and three rebounds in 25 minutes of action. Sumner, who had 11 points, five assists and three steals in the win over Cincinnati on Dec. 12, scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Xavier s win at Wake Forest on Dec. 22. Sumner led Xavier with 19 points in the Miami (Ohio) win on Nov. 13, had 14 points in the win over USC on Nov. 27 and led Xavier with 14 points vs. Dayton on Nov. 29. REYNOLDS DOUBLES HIS EFFORTS: Junior forward Jalen Reynolds grabbed a gamehigh 15 rebounds to go with 10 points in the Providence win on Feb. 17, earning his fourth double-double of the season. Reynolds had a game-high 11 rebounds and tied for the team high in scoring with 15 points in the win at Providence on Jan. 26. Reynolds had 13 rebounds to go with 10 points at St. John s on Jan. 6. Reynolds, who had his 16th double-figure scoring game of the season with 11 points vs. Marquette on March 10, is averaging 9.4 ppg. and 6.4 rpg. (second on the team in rebounding and 12th in the BIG EAST), including a team-high 17 points and game-high nine rebounds at Creighton on Feb. 9.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll #3: Earned his third BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll award after averaging 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a pair of road wins at Providence on Jan. 26 and at DePaul on Jan. 30, including a team-high-tying 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds the win at Providence. BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll #2: Scored a season-high 18-point game on 7-of-9 shooting vs. Auburn on Dec. 19. BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll #1: Earned a spot on the weekly BIG EAST Honor Roll for his 16-point and 15-rebound game vs. Miami on Nov. 13. MACURA NAMED THE BIG EAST S BEST SIXTH MAN: Sophomore J.P. Macura, who was named the BIG EAST Sixth Man Award winner, is giving Xavier added energy and a lift, including 11.3 ppg. over the last 13 games on 48.0 percent (49- of-102) shooting, including 40.4 percent (19-of-47) from 3-point territory. Macura, who has raised his scoring average to 9.6 ppg., has scored in double figures in nine of the last 13 games (16 for the season), including a team-high tying 19 points to go with three steals in the Villanova win on Feb. 24. Macura scored 12 points at Georgetown to go with four assists and two steals, 13 points at Butler on Feb. 13 and a career-high 20 points in 31 minutes of action in the Feb. 6 win over Marquette that included a pair of clutch 3-pointers with under four minutes left. Macura, who had 12 points and a career-high seven rebounds in the win over St. John s on Feb. 3, had 10 points in the win at Providence on Jan. 26 and 12 points in the win at DePaul on Jan. 30. Macura posted 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and three steals in the home win over DePaul on Jan. 12. Macura, who had 12 points to go with five rebounds and two assists at Villanova on Dec. 31, scored 17 points in the Miami win on Nov. 13 and had 14 points in the Alabama win on Nov. 26. MORE THAN ABELL: Senior Remy Abell reached the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in each of his first three collegiate seasons, including two seasons at Indiana and last season at Xavier. Abell, who had a 15-point game in the Creighton win on March 5, led Xavier with a career-high 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range, to go with four assists and a block in the win over Butler on Jan. 2. Abell, who scored 12 points in the win at Butler on Feb. 13, hit three big 3-pointers in the win over Cincinnati on Dec. 12 and two in each of the two wins over Providence this season. Abell had 11 points in the AdvoCare Invitational Championship Game vs. Dayton on Nov. 29. Abell, who has been a defensive leader again this season, has started 66 of Xavier s 69 games over the last two seasons. Abell was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Jan. 4 after averaging 13.5 points, 3.0 assists, 1.0 rebounds and 0.5 steals in XU s first two BIG EAST games (at Villanova on Dec. 31 and vs. Butler on Jan. 2), while shooting 9-of-12 (.750) from the field, including 4-of-5 (.800) from 3-point range. Abell scored a team-high tying 15 points in the win at Michigan on Nov. 20, including a pair of 3-pointers. AUSTIN JR. IS MAKING A POINT: Sophomore Larry Austin Jr. scored a career-high 12 points to go with five rebounds and four assists in 17 minutes at DePaul on Jan. 30. Austin has logged 10.4 minutes per game over the first 32 games, mainly as the backup point guard. GATES HAS BEEN A CONTRIBUTOR: Freshman Kaiser Gates grabbed a career-high eight rebounds to go with a career-high tying 11 points (3-of-3 on 3-pointers and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line) in 15 minutes of the Creighton win on March 5. Gates had a team-high tying seven rebounds vs. Villanova on Feb. 24 to go with five points and two steals in 17 minutes. Gates contributed seven points and two rebounds in 15 minutes at Butler on Feb. 13 and five points and six rebounds in 18 minutes of action in the win at Marquette on Jan. 16. Gates scored a career-high 11 points to go with four rebounds vs. DePaul on Jan. 12 in 16 minutes. Gates contributed 10 points to go with five rebounds in 12 minutes vs. Butler on Jan. 2, hitting 2-of-3 3-pointers and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. London s no-look pass and the dunk finish by sophomore Sean O Mara vs. USC on Nov. 27 made the No. 6 play on ESPN s Top 10 on Nov. 27. London, who has played in 18 games, had six points, one rebound and one steal in 10 minutes vs. Alabama on Nov. 26 and followed that up with a career-high five rebounds in 11 minutes vs. USC on Nov. 27 and a careerhigh two assists vs. Dayton on Nov. 29. SIX MUSKETEERS EARNED BIG EAST WEEKLY HONORS THIS SEASON: Junior Myles Davis was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the fourth time this season and the second straight week on March 6 (also named on on Feb. 29). Davis scored a team-high 24 points and dished off a team-high seven assists in Xavier s win over Creighton in the regular season finale on March 6. WIN STREAKS: Xavier started the season with a 12-game winning streak, tied for the third-longest in school history and XU s longest since winning a school record 16 straight games in the season. SCHOOL RECORD RANKINGS: Xavier was a school-record No. 5 in the Associated Press Poll for five weeks this season. Xavier reached as high as a school-record No. 4 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. DOWN GOES NO. 1: Xavier recorded an impressive win over No. 1 Villanova on Feb. 24 in front of a Cintas Center record standing room only crowd of 10,727. Xavier placed six players in double figures in scoring led by sophomore J.P. Macura with 19 points and freshman Edmond Sumner with 19 points, a career-high nine assists and six rebounds. Xavier erased an early deficit with a 13-3 run that gave XU a lead with 2:45 left but Villanova closed the gap to at halftime. Xavier took control of the game with a little under nine minutes left and led by as many as 15 points, 82-67, with two minutes left. Four late Villanova 3-pointers helped close the gap in the final score. Xavier won the rebounding battle, 42-33, and dished off an impressive 24 assists on its 30 field goals. XAVIER FINISHED OFF A PERFECT NON- CONFERENCE SLATE: Xavier recorded a comeback win at Wake Forest in the Skip Prosser Classic on Dec. 22, giving XU a perfect 12-0 non-conference record. Wake led by 18 points, 36-18, with 3:45 left in the first half and took a halftime lead. Xavier used a 21-4 run, including a 10-0 run to start the second half to grab a lead with 13:43 left. XU led with under four minutes left and used a 7-0 run to extend the lead to with 30 seconds left. Freshman Edmond Sumner led all scorers with 21 points to go with a career-high nine rebounds. XAVIER CONTINUED ITS SUCCESS VS. THE SEC WITH BLOWOUT WIN OVER AUBURN: Xavier defeated Auburn on Dec. 19 at Cintas Center. Junior Jalen Reynolds led Xavier with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, while senior James Farr contributed a doubledouble with 12 points and 11 rebounds. XU is now 18-5 against nine different current SEC members since XAVIER RECORDED A CONVINCING WIN OVER CROSSTOWN RIVAL CINCIN- NATI: Xavier recorded a win over then-no. 23 Cincinnati on Dec. 12 in the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout. Xavier dominated the first half and led at halftime. UC chipped the lead to five points, 52-47, with 10:27 left but six straight XU points got the lead back to double digits at with 9:11 remaining in the game. Junior Myles Davis led Xavier with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. XU has now won three straight over UC and seven of the last nine meetings between the two schools. ADVOCARE INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONS: Xavier blew out Dayton (90-61), Alabama (64-45) and USC (87-77) to capture the AdvoCare Invitational Championship Nov in Florida. Sophomore Trevon Bluiett and junior Jalen Reynolds were named to the AdvoCare Invitational All- Tournament team. In the championship game win over Dayton on Nov. 29, Xavier led with 18:33 left before using a 21-0 run that blew the game open at with 12:10 left. In the semifinal win over USC on Nov. 27, XU used a 17-0 run and rolled to a halftime lead and held on in the second half. In the opening game win over Alabama on Nov. 26, Xavier overcame a cold-shooting first half where XU shot just 24.1 percent from the field and used a 13-0 run to turn a lead into a lead with 13:25 left. A TOP 15 RECRUITING CLASS: Xavier head coach Chris Mack announced the signing of two talented four-star high school stars, Quentin Goodin, a 6-3 and 190-pound point guard, and Tyrique Jones, a 6-7 and 245-pound forward. Xavier s recruiting class is currently ranked No. 13 in the nation by ESPN. Goodin, a Scout. com four-star recruit who attends Taylor County High School in Campbellsville, Ky., is rated as the No. 71 senior by Rivals.com and No. 74 by Scout.com. He is ranked as the top player in the state of Kentucky. Goodin earned First Team All-State honors as a junior. Jones, an ESPN and Scout.com four-star recruit who attends Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Vt., is ranked as the No. 21 power forward and the No. 89 player overall in the country by ESPN. As a senior last season at Vermont Academy, Jones earned Class AA All-NEPSAC Team honors and led Vermont Academy to the Class AA NEPSAC Finals. Jones is in his post-graduate year at Vermont Academy. In addition, Mack was the recipient of the 2011 Skip Prosser Man of the Year award, which which was established in 2008 to honor those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity off of it as well. Mack, the Basketball Times Rookie Coach of the Year, was 26-9 in his first season as Xavier s head coach and became the first Xavier head coach to guide XU to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in either his first or second season. COACHING SUCCESS STORY Mack, who was born December 30, 1969 in Cleveland, Ohio, is the 17th head coach in program history. Prior to being named Xavier s head coach on April 15, 2009, Mack spent five seasons as an assistant on Sean Miller s Xavier staff. Prior to that he was on the staff of the late Skip Prosser both at Xavier and at Wake Forest. LEARNED UNDER PROSSER AND MILLER Mack was XU s Director of Basketball Operations from under Prosser. Mack spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Wake Forest under Prosser from He returned to Xavier from as an assistant coach under Miller. During those 10 years on the Prosser and Miller staffs at Xavier and Wake, Mack coached on nine teams that made postseason play, including eight teams that made the NCAA Tournament. XAVIER PLAYER AND GRADUATE Mack, a 1992 Xavier University graduate with a degree in communication arts, was a two-time team captain as a player at Xavier under then-head coach Pete Gillen. He won an MCC Regular Season Championship at 12-2 and reached the second round of the 1993 NCAA Tournament. Mack was the Cincinnati Post Metro Player of the Year at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati before going on to start for two seasons at Evansville under Jim Crews, winning an MCC Regular Season Championship and a trip to the second round of the 1989 NCAA Tournament as a UE freshman. He transferred to Xavier after his sophomore season. BASKETBALL FAMILY MAN Mack and his wife, Christi, have two daughters, Hailee (9) and Lainee (10) and a son, Brayden (1). Christi has a basketball background and was a 2014 inductee into the University of Dayton Athletic Hall of Fame, the Director of Basketball Operations for XU s women s basketball team ( ) and more recently as the former head girls basketball coach at Cincinnati s Colerain High.
