KEYS THAT STAND OUT Xavier, 15-6 overall and 5-3 in the BIG EAST Conference, is coming off an win vs. St. John's on Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Xavier plays three of its next four games at Cintas Center. Xavier junior Trevon Bluiett has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Bluiett averaged 30.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in Xavier s last two games, while shooting 70.4 percent from the field, including 70.6 percent from 3-point range. Xavier junior Trevon Bluiett is second in the BIG EAST in scoring at 18.5 ppg., second in 3-point field goals made per game (2.6) and ninth in rebounding at 5.9 rpg. Xavier's Trevon Bluiett, who has posted a team-high 11 games with 20 points or more, is now 23rd on XU's career scoring list with 1,308 points. Xavier freshman Quentin Goodin had a career-high 16 points vs. St. John's on Sun. Xavier senior RaShid Gaston leads the team and is sixth in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. and ranks third in offensive rebounding at 2.9 rpg. Xavier junior J.P. Macura is third on the team in scoring (16th in the BIG EAST at 14.4 ppg.), including two 20-point games vs. Georgetown this season. Xavier senior Malcolm Bernard scored a career-high 12 points vs. Georgetown on Jan. 22, his fifth double-figure scoring game of the season. Xavier sophomore Edmond Sumner, XU's assist leader and second-leading scorer, suffered a season-ending knee injury vs. St. John's on Sunday at MSG. Xavier, 28-6 overall last season, made its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 11 years. XU is one of only nine schools that can say that. 4 THE XAVIER-SETON HALL SERIES: Seton Hall leads the series 9-5, although Xavier has won the last two meetings at Cintas Center. Seton Hall defeated XU in New Jersey and in the BIG EAST Tournament at MSG last season. LAST YEAR IN CINCINNATI: Xavier recorded an win over Seton Hall on Jan. 23, 2016 at Cintas Center. Seton Hall led with four minutes left in the first half but a 16-7 surge to end the half gave XU a halftime lead. With Xavier leading with 15:57 left, the Musketeers controlled the next seven minutes 21-7 to blow the game open to a 15-point margin, 71-56, with 8:30 remaining. XU led by double digits the rest of the way until giving up an uncontested layup before the buzzer to cut the final margin to eight points. James Farr enjoyed a monster game with a career-high 24 points, a game-high 15 rebounds, three blocks, a career-high four assists and two steals. Trevon Bluiett scored all 15 of his points in the second half after a foul-plagued first half limited his time. Desi Rodriguez led Seton Hall with 21 points and eight rebounds. LAST YEAR IN NEW JERSEY: Xavier suffered a setback at Seton Hall on Feb. 28, 2016, snapping Xavier s four-game winning streak. Xavier fell behind at halftime (XU s largest halftime deficit of the season) thanks in part to 27 percent shooting and never fully recovered. SHU closed out the first half on a 17-3 run. Desi Rodriguez led Seton Hall with 27 points and 12 rebounds. LAST YEAR IN BIG EAST TOURNAMENT: Eventual tournament champion Seton Hall defeated XU on March 11, 2016 in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship at Madison Square Garden. SHU used a 17-2 first-half run on its way to a halftime lead. Edmond Sumner led Xavier with 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Khadeen Carrington led Seton Hall with 23 points, while Isaiah Whitehead added 20. Junior Trevon Bluiett led XU with 21 points and 10 rebounds, completing his second double-double of the season and the eighth of his career. Sophomore Edmond Sumner added 17 points and seven assists before leaving the game with an injury. Freshman Quentin Goodin stepped up with a career-high 16 points, hitting 4-of-5 from the field. XU has now completed season sweeps of St. John's and Georgetown. XAVIER WON ITS LAST BIG EAST HOME TEST: Xavier recorded an win over Georgetown on Jan. 22 at Cintas Center. Xavier led with 16 minutes left but Georgetown stormed back with an 18-6 run to deadlock the score at 58-all with nine minutes remaining. XU answered with a 5-0 run on a jumper and an old fashioned 3-point play from sophomore Edmond Sumner, who finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Junior Trevon Bluiett led Xavier with 24 points, while fellow junior J.P. Macura contributed 20. XU outrebounded Georgetown 35-21, including an 11-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. TOUGH STRETCH: Xavier snapped a threegame losing streak with the win over Georgetown on Jan. 22, a losing streak that came vs. three teams in the AP Top 12, including vs. then-no. 7 Creighton on Jan. 16, at then-no. 12 Butler on Jan. 14 and at then-no. 3 Villanova on Jan. 10. HONOR ROLL CALL FOR BLUIETT... BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Junior Trevon Bluiett has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in road games this past week at Cincinnati and at St. John s. Bluiett averaged 30.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals in Xavier s two games this past week, while shooting 70.4 percent (19-of-27) from the field, including 70.6 percent (12- of-17) from 3-point range. Bluiett scored a career high 40 points at Cincinnati on Jan. 26, XU s first 40-point game since 2003 National Player of the Year David West had 47 in a win over Dayton at Cintas Center in He scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the win at St. John s on Jan. 29, his second double-double of the season and the eighth of his career. This is Bluiett s first Player of the Week honor this season (third of his career) and he has been named on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll four times this season. BIG EAST RANKED SECOND BY CBS: The BIG EAST Conference is ranked second in Conference RPI behind the ACC by CBSSports.com. The top seven teams in the BIG EAST Conference have compiled a combined non-conference (.862) mark. The entire BIG EAST non-conference record stands at a combined (.770) in nonconference play. XAVIER S BEST BIG EAST SEASON IN PICKED SECOND FOR : Xavier finished second in the BIG EAST Conference at 14-4 last season. XU reached the semifinals of the 2016 BIG EAST Tournament. Xavier s 14 BIG EAST wins were the most for XU since it joined the league for

5 the season. XU was picked second in the preseason BIG EAST coaches poll. BIG EAST IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT: The BIG EAST Conference has earned 15 NCAA Tournament berths in its first three years in the current 10-team configuration, including five in 2016, six in 2015 and four in Eight of the 10 schools in the BIG EAST have earned at least one NCAA berth in the past three seasons: Xavier (3), Villanova (3), Providence (3), Butler (2), Seton Hall (1), Georgetown (1), St. John s (1) and Creighton (1). HITTING THE BOARDS WILL BE A BIG KEY ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Seton Hall is first in the BIG EAST Conference and No. 16 in the nation in rebound margin at +7.5 rpg. Xavier is second in the BIG EAST and No. 17 in the nation in rebound margin (+7.4 rpg.) and has outrebounded 17 of its 21 opponents this season, including (18-10 in offensive rebounds) over Creighton on Jan. 16 and (11-1 in offensive rebounds) over Georgetown on Jan. 22. The rebounding numbers also include a advantage on Dec. 3 at Baylor with an 18-8 offensive rebounding edge and a edge on Dec. 10 vs. Utah. Senior RaShid Gaston leads Xavier in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. (sixth in the BIG EAST) and offensive rebounding at 2.9 per game (third in the BIG EAST) in 19.4 minutes per game. Gaston grabbed a game-high and career-high 17 rebounds vs. Creighton on Jan. 16, which included nine offensive rebounds. Junior Trevon Bluiett is second on the team at 5.9 rpg. (ninth in the BIG EAST). THREE GUYS HAVE SIGNED THE BUBBLE: When a Musketeer grabs a double-figure rebound total he is asked to sign the rebounding bubble, the device that sits over the rim for rebounding drills in practice. Senior RaShid Gaston has signed four times, including after grabbing a careerhigh 17 rebounds vs. Creighton on Jan. 16 (nine offensive rebounds). Gaston had 10 rebounds vs. Missouri on Nov. 17, 11 rebounds at Colorado on Dec. 7 and 14 vs. Utah on Dec. 10. Junior Trevon Bluiett has signed it twice, incluidng after his game-high 10-rebound effort vs. St. John's on Sunday. Bluiett had a game-high 11 rebounds vs. Lehigh on Nov. 11, while freshman Tyrique Jones followed with a game-high 11 vs. Buffalo on Nov. 14. STEAL THE SHOW: Xavier is fifth in the BIG EAST in steals at 6.7 per game. Junior J.P. Macura is fourth at 1.7 spg. Johnson ( ) 1,021 BLUIETT IS NOW IN THE TOP 25 ON THE XAVIER ALL-TIME SCORING LIST: Junior guard Trevon Bluiett, who scored a career-high 40 points at Cincinnati on Jan. 26, had 21 points at St. John's on Sunday, 24 points on Jan. 22 vs. Georgetown and 22 points in Xavier's BIG EAST opener vs. Providence on Dec. 28. Bluiett has moved up to 23rd place on XU's all-time scoring list with 1,308 points. He became the 52nd member of XU's 1,000 Point Club in the UNI game on Nov. 20. BLUIETT NAMED TO FINAL 10 CANDI- DATES FOR JULIUS ERVING AWARD: Junior Trevon Bluiett has been named by The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as one of the 10 watch list finalists for the 2017 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award for a second straight year. Named after Hall of Famer and 11- time NBA All-Star Julius Erving, the annual honor in its third year recognizes the top small forwards in Division I men s college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates in October, which has now been narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Mr. Erving and the Hall of Fame s selection committee for the 2017 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award. The winner of the 2017 Julius Erving Award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show on Friday, April 7. BLUIETT NAMED ON NATIONAL PRE- SEASON WATCH LISTS: The preseason watch lists for the John R. Wooden Award and the Naismith Men s College Player of the Year Award included junior guard Trevon Bluiett. Bluiett was also listed on the Lute Olson Award Preseason Watch List (collegeinsider.com). The Lute Olson Award is presented to the nation's top Division I player who has played at least two seasons. He was also named preseason First Team All-BIG EAST. BLUIETT IS A TEAM LEADER: Junior guard Trevon Bluiett, a USA TODAY preseason Third Team All-American and a preseason First Team All-BIG EAST selection, leads Xavier in scoring at 18.5 ppg. (second in the BIG EAST), including his 40-point game at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Bluiett has averaged 28.3 ppg. over the last three games. Bluiett is second on the team in rebounding (ninth in the BIG EAST at 5.9 rpg). Bluiett posted career highs for points (40), field goals made (12-of-15) and 3-pointers made (a school-record tying 9-of-11) at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. It marked XU's first 40-point game since 2003 National Player of the Year David West had 47 in a win over Dayton at Cintas Center on Feb. 8, Bluiett, who posted a gamehigh 24 point effort in the Georgetown win on Jan. 22, scored 27 points at Colorado on Dec. 7.

6 TREY-VON: Junior Trevon Bluiett is ranked second in the BIG EAST in 3-point field goals made at 2.6 per game, including six each at Colorado on Dec. 7 and at Baylor on Dec. 3 and a career-high and school-recording tying nine at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. BLUIETT'S VISION: Junior Trevon Bluiett has posted a team-high point+ games this season, including each of the last three games: a teamhigh 21 points vs. St. John's on Jan. 29, a career-high 40 points at Cincinnati on Jan. 26 and a game-high 24 points on Jan. 22 vs. Georgetown. TWO TIMES 20: Speaking of 20-point games, Xavier had two players score 20+ points at Georgetown on Dec. 31 with sophomore Edmond Sumner (28) and junior J.P. Macura (23) and two more vs. Georgetown on Jan. 22 with Macura (20) and junior Trevon Bluiett (24), marking the fourth time this season that has happened for Xavier. XU also had two 20-point scorers vs. Clemson on Nov. 18 with Macura (28) and junior Trevon Bluiett (21). Bluiett had 25 and Sumner had 24 vs. Lehigh on Nov. 11. Last season XU only accomplished that feat (two 20-point scorers in one game) once. NEW TO THE STARTING LINEUP: Firstyear senior Malcolm Bernard has started 20 games. Junior J.P. Macura, the BIG EAST Sixth Man of the Year, has started each of the first 21 games. He started four last season. Junior Sean O'Mara started the first eight games (first collegiate starts) but was replaced in the starting lineup for 12 games by senior RaShid Gaston before freshman Tyrique Jones made his first collegiate start on Sunday vs. St. John's. The only two returning starters were junior Trevon Bluiett and sophomore Edmond Sumner, although Sumner has now been lost for the rest of this season. Freshman Quentin Goodin made his first collegiate start vs. Creighton on Jan. 16 and sophomore Kaiser Gates made his first collegiate start at UC on Jan. 26. SUMNER SUFFERED SEASON-ENDING KNEE INJURY: Xavier University team doctor Dr. Robert Burger confirmed on Monday that sophomore guard Edmond Sumner suffered a season-ending torn ACL injury in his left knee in Xavier s game vs. St. John s at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. Dr. Burger said Sumner will be scheduled for surgery in the near future on a date to be determined. I am devastated for Edmond, said Xavier head coach Chris Mack. Unfortunately, sometimes bad things happen to great people. Through diligent rehab, hard work and prayer I know Ed will return to the court better than ever. He s an awesome kid, a fearless competitor and a terrific teammate. I m going to miss coaching him the rest of the year. As far as our current team is concerned, our goals have not changed. Next man up. SUMNER STOOD OUT: Sophomore Edmond Sumner led Xavier in assists at 5.0 apg. (third in the BIG EAST). Sumner dished off a career-high tying nine assists with zero turnovers vs. Eastern Washington on Dec. 20. Sumner was second on the team in scoring at 15.0 ppg. (14th in the BIG EAST), including a team-high 16.9 ppg. in BIG EAST play. He was also second on the team in steals at 1.3 spg. (12th in the BIG EAST). Sumner scored all of his game-high 22 points in the second half at Butler on Jan. 14, his fourth 20-point game of the season. Sumner celebrated his 21st birthday on Dec. 31 with a career-high 28 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists in the win at Georgetown. MACURA WAS PROJECTED FOR A BREAK- OUT SEASON: Junior J.P. Macura, projected by CBS Sports to be one of the nation's top 20 breakout players this season, has averaged 14.4 points per game (third on the team and 16th in the BIG EAST Conference), including a 23-point game at Georgetown on Dec. 31 and a 20-point game vs. Georgetown on Jan. 22. He leads the team in steals per game at 1.7 spg. (fourth in the BIG EAST), while standing second on the team in assists at 2.2 per game. Macura leads the team and seventh in the BIG EAST in free-throw shooting at 81.7 percent, including a streak of 20 straight free throws made to start the season. Macura averaged a team-high 19.0 ppg. for Xavier's three games in the Tire Pros Invitational, including a career-high 28 points on the strength of a careerhigh six 3-pointers to go with five assists and three steals in the win over Clemson on Nov. 18. Macura, who was named to the Tire Pros Invitational All-Tournament Team, was the BIG EAST Sixth Man Award winner and averaged 9.4 ppg. GASTON HAS BEEN A FORCE ON THE BOARDS... ALSO HAS PASSED 1,000 CAREER POINTS: Senior forward RaShid Gaston, who transferred to Xavier from Norfolk State, is listed as one of the nation's top 20 impact transfers by CBS Sports. Gaston leads the team and is sixth in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. and also leads the team in offensive rebounding at 2.9 per game (third in the BIG EAST) while playing just 19.4 minutes per game for the season. Gaston grabbed a game-high and career-high 17 rebounds to go with 12 points vs. Creighton on Jan. 16, an effort which included an XU career-high nine offensive rebounds. Gaston contributed back-to-back double-doubles with a 14 rebounds to go with 11 points in the Utah win on Dec. 10 and a Xavier career-high 14 points to go with 11 rebounds, while hitting 7-of-8 shots from the field, on Dec. 7 at Colorado. Gaston, who tied his XU career high for scoring in the Wake Forest win on Dec. 17 with 14 points, scored 12 points, had a game-high tying 10 rebounds and blocked four shots on Nov. 17 vs. Missouri. Gaston has scored 1,054 collegiate points, including three seasons at Norfolk State. BERNARD HAD A CAREER DAY VERSUS GEORGETOWN: Senior guard Malcolm Bernard, a graduate student who played last season at FAMU, scored an XU careerhigh 12 points in the win over Georgetown on Jan. 22, his fifth double-figure scoring game as a Musketeer and his third in the last five games. Bernard scored 10 points and grabbed a career-high tying eight rebounds at Butler on Jan. 14. Bernard, who has started 20 of the first 21 games, contributed 10 points in the St. John's win on Jan. 7 on 4-of-4 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. Bernard posted a 10-point effort vs. Eastern Washington on Dec. 20, contributed seven points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals to the Providence win on Dec. 28 and nine points, including two big 3-pointers, in the win at Georgetown on Dec. 31. He had a 10-point, eight-rebound, three-assist and three-steal game vs. North Dakota State on Nov. 29. He contributed six points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals vs. Missouri on Nov. 17, including a game-saving block with two seconds left in overtime that led to XU's game-winning possession. He had nine points and seven rebounds vs. Clemson on Nov. 18. GATES ENJOYED TWO CAREER DAYS VS. ST. JOHN'S: Sophomore forward Kaiser Gates hit 6-of-8 from the field, including tying his career high with 4-of-6 3-pointers, on his way to a career-high 17 points in a career-high 27 minutes of action in the St. John's win on Jan. 7. Gates grabbed a career-high nine rebounds on Sunday vs. St. John's at MSG. Gates came up big on Dec. 20 vs. Eastern Washington, connecting on a career-high four 3-pointers on his way to 12 points. Gates, who made his first collegiate start at Cincinnati on Jan. 26, underwent a preseason scope procedure on his left knee and missed the first five games.

7 GOODIN COMING ON: Freshman guard Quentin Goodin, who is slated to make his second career start on Wednesday night vs. Seton Hall, scored a career-high 16 points to go with two assists in the win over St. John's on Sunday. That's back-toback impressive efforts for the newcomer. Goodin contributed seven points and a career-high tying six assists with only one turnover in 15 minutes at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Goodin had 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting, including a 3-pointer, vs. Buffalo on Nov. 14. Goodin, who is logging 14.9 minutes per game, had a career-high six assists vs. Eastern Washington on Dec. 20. JONES MAKING HIS PRESENCE FELT: Freshman big man Tyrique Jones grabbed six rebounds in 16 minutes in his first collegiate start vs. St. John's on Sunday. Jones had six points, five rebounds and an assist in 12 minutes at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Jones grabbed a game-high and career-high 11 rebounds vs. Buffalo on Nov. 14. Jones was listed on college basketball expert Jon Rothstein's top underthe-radar freshmen list. Jones, who is playing 9.2 minutes per game, contributed a career-high 10 points in the St. John's win on Jan. 7 to go with five rebounds and a career-high tying two blocks. Jones is ranked second on the team in offensive rebounding at 1.6 rpg., which ranks 15th in the BIG EAST despite logging 9.5 minutes per game. O'MARA'S IMPACT: Junior Sean O'Mara has played in all 21 games, starting eight times, while averaging 5.6 ppg. and 3.1 rpg. O'Mara came off the bench to contribute six points and six rebounds in 18 minutes vs. Georgetown on Jan. 22 and six points and six rebounds in 13 minutes at Villanova on Jan. 10. O'Mara made a big contribution at Georgetown on Dec. 31 with eight points and four rebounds in 13 minutes. O'Mara, who posted his fourth double-figure scoring game of the season with 12 points vs. North Dakota State on Nov. 29, came up big with a career-high 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go with five rebounds vs. Missouri on Nov. 17. O'Mara, who is shooting 56.6 percent (47-of-83) for the season, hit all three of his shots on his way to eight points in 13 minutes vs. Providence on Dec. 28 and hit all three of his shots at Villanova on Jan. 10. CHRIS MACK IS XAVIER'S FIRST-EVER NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR... SECOND ON XU S ALL-TIME WINS LIST: Head coach Chris Mack was selected as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Henry Iba Award winner as National Coach of the Year and the CBS Sports and Basketball Times Magazine National Coach of the Year in addition to being runner up for Associated Press National Coach of the Year. Mack was named as the BIG EAST Conference Coach of the Year by CBS Sports and Bleacher Report. Mack, who is in his eighth season at the helm, has recorded a (.681) mark so far, which is good for second on Xavier s all-time wins list. Mack has more NCAA Tournament wins (7) than any Xavier head coach in program history. He trails only Pete Gillen (202 wins in nine seasons from ) in overall wins. Mack played under Gillen at XU. Mack led Xavier to the NCAA Tournament six times in his first seven seasons. He is the first XU head coach to lead XU to three Sweet 16s (2010, 2012 and 2015). CLOSE CALLS: Xavier has had eight games this season decided by five points or less, compiling a 5-3 mark that includes the five-point win vs. St. John's on Sunday and the five-point win at Georgetown on Dec. 31. Xavier defeated Lehigh in the opener on Nov. 11, Missouri in overtime on Nov. 17 and Wake Forest on Dec. 17, while falling at Colorado on Dec. 7, at Butler on Jan. 14 and vs. Creighton on Jan. 16. Xavier had only one of its 34 games last season decided by three points or less, the last-second loss to Wisconsin in the 2016 NCAA Second Round. In fact, XU had only one of its 30 regular season games last season decided by less than seven points, the win over Creighton at Cintas Center (3-5-16). NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS: Xavier compiled a 10-3 record in non-conference play this season. Macura had a career-high 28 points on the strength of a career-high six 3-pointers to go with five assists and three steals in Xavier's win over Clemson on Nov. 18. His 23-point first-half led XU to a halftime lead and broke his previous career high for a game, 20 points.
