GAME KEYS THAT STAND OUT Xavier has made it to at least the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals in each of its first four years in the league. Xavier is 12-1 this season when it holds the opposition under 70 points, including its win over No. 18 Butler last night. Xavier, 21-12, has secured its fourth straight 20-win season, its 11th in 12 years and 19th in 21 years. Xavier is 2nd in the BIG EAST and No. 21 nationally in rebound margin (+6.6 rpg.). Xavier junior All-America candidate Trevon Bluiett, named First Team All-BIG EAST for the second straight year, has 16 games with 20 points or more this season. Xavier junior Trevon Bluiett is third in the BIG EAST in scoring at 18.1 ppg., fourth in 3-point field goals made per game (2.5) and ninth in rebounding at 5.8 rpg. Xavier's Trevon Bluiett is 18th on XU's all-time scoring list with 1,482 points. Xavier junior J.P. Macura is second on the team in scoring and 16th in the BIG EAST at 14.3 ppg. He has posted 27 double-figure scoring games. Xavier's J.P. Macura has 980 career points and is 20 points shy of becoming the 53rd member of Xavier's 1,000 Point Club. Xavier freshman Quentin Goodin, who has started 12 straight games at point guard, has averaged 5.3 apg. for those 12 starts. Xavier senior RaShid Gaston ranks third in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage at 59.8 percent and fourth in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. Xavier senior Malcolm Bernard, who has averaged 11.6 ppg. over the last five games, scored 12 points and grabbed an XU career-high 10 rebounds last night. Xavier made its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 11 years in XU is one of only nine schools that can say that. 4 2017 POSTSEASON GUIDE THE XAVIER-CREIGHTON SERIES: Xavier leads the series The two teams split the two regular season meetings with the visiting team winning both games. Creighton won the only previous meeting in BIG EAST Tournament action, defeating XU in the 2014 semifinals. THIS SEASON'S MEETING IN OMAHA: Xavier recorded an come-from-behind victory at then-no. 22 Creighton on Feb. 4. XU trailed by as many as 11 points and still trailed by nine, 59-50, with a little more than 13 minutes left. Back-to-back 3-pointers by junior Trevon Bluiett gave Xavier the lead for good, turning a deficit into a lead with 2:55 left. Bluiett tied for team-high scoring honors with freshman Tyrique Jones, who hit all eight of his shots for a career-high 16 points. Freshman Quentin Goodin chipped in 15 points (on a career-high four 3-pointers), five assists and a career-high five steals. THIS SEASON'S MEETING AT CINTAS CENTER: Xavier suffered a loss to then-no. 7 Creighton on Jan. 16 at Cintas Center. Xavier erased an 11-point secondhalf deficit to take the lead at with a minute left but couldn't close out the win. Junior Trevon Bluiett led Xavier with 17 points and six rebounds, while senior RaShid Gaston had 12 points to go with a game-high and career-high 17 rebounds. JESUIT SPOTLIGHT GAME: The nationwide Jesuit Basketball Spotlight (JBS) project uses Jesuit basketball to raise awareness of Jesuit education. Xavier is one of the 28 Jesuit schools, as are fellow BIG EAST Conference members Creighton, Georgetown and Marquette. The nationwide Jesuit Basketball Spotlight project highlights games between men s and women s teams from the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities across the U.S. XAVIER IN THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT: Xavier has compiled a 6-3 combined record in BIG EAST Championship play, including the win over Butler on Thursday and the win over DePaul on Wednesday. XU is 1-0 in the first round, 4-0 in the quarterfinals, 1-2 in the semifinals and 0-1 in the championship game. Xavier's best finish in its three previous BIG EAST Tournament appearances was a trip to the 2015 championship game. LAST YEAR AT THE BIG EAST TOURNA- MENT: Xavier defeated Marquette (90-72) in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Seton Hall (87-83) in the semifinals. BLUIETT IN BIG EAST TOURNAMENT ACTION: Xavier's Trevon Bluiett, who led Xavier in last night's win over Butler with 23 points (17 in the second half) and vs. DePaul on Wednesday with 17 points (all in the second half), is averaging 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game in the 2017 BIG EAST Tournament. Bluiett was named to the 2016 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.5 points and 3.5 rebounds for XU's two games. For his career in BIG EAST Tournament play, Bluiett has averaged 14.4 ppg. and 4.3 rpg. for his seven career games in this event. XAVIER'S SUCCESS AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN: Xavier is 17-8 all-time at Madison Square Garden, including an win over St. John's on Jan. 29 and the two BIG EAST Tournament wins this week. Since joining the BIG EAST, the Musketeers have played nine games at Madison Square Garden for the BIG EAST Tournament. XU holds a 6-3 record at MSG during the BIG EAST Tournament. XAVIER'S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AT MSG: Xavier won its first National Championship in Madison Square Garden. XU won the 1958 National Invitation Tournament Championship with a overtime victory over Dayton at MSG on March 22, The championship, which marked the first major basketball national championship by any Ohio college or university, came at a time when the NIT was equal to or, according to many, more prestigious than the NCAA Tournament. FOR THE RECORD (CREIGHTON): Creighton, 24-8 overall and 10-8 in the BIG EAST, is the No. 6 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Bluejays advanced to the semifinals with a win over Providence last night. FOR THE RECORD (XAVIER): Xavier, overall and 9-9 in the BIG EAST Conference regular season, is the No. 7 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Musketeers are coming off a win over No. 18 Butler, the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Xavier trailed by seven points, 49-42, with under eight minutes left. Junior Trevon Bluiett led the comeback with 17 of his game-high 23 points coming in the second half, including the jumper with 17 seconds left that gave XU the lead for good at Senior Malcolm Bernard contributed 12 points, a Xavier career-high 10 rebounds and a Xavier career-high tying four assists. XU is now 4-0 all-time in BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinal action. FIRST ROUND SUCCESS: Xavier defeated DePaul in the first round on Wednesday night, Xavier's first-ever first round game in BIG EAST Tournament play. XU trailed by as many as six points in the first half but trailed by only a point, 31-30, at halftime after junior J.P. Macura connected on a deep 3-pointer before the buzzer. Xavier controlled the second half behind 17 second-half points from junior Trevon Bluiett, who was held scoreless in the first half. Bluiett also finished with a team-high nine rebounds. Macura and freshman Quentin Goodin added 13 points each. SEEING 20-20: Xavier, 21-12, has secured its fourth straight 20-win season, its 11th in 12 years and 19th in 21 years. CLOSE CALLS: Xavier has compiled a 5-1 record in games decided by four points or less, including over Seton Hall on Feb. 1 and at Creighton on Feb. 4. Xavier's other close wins include Wake Forest, 69-65, on Dec. 17. The only loss in a game decided by 1-4 points was at Colorado, on Dec. 7. Xavier had only two of its 34 games last season decided by four points or less, the last-second loss to Wisconsin in the 2016 NCAA Second Round and the loss to Seton Hall in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals. In fact, XU had only one of its 30 regular season games last season decided by less than seven points, the win over Creighton at Cintas Center (3-5-16). BOARD CHAIRMEN: Xavier is second in the BIG EAST Conference and 21st in the nation in rebound margin (+6.6 rpg.). XU has outrebounded 26 of its 33 opponents this season, including (22-5 in offensive rebounds) vs. Villanova on Feb. 11. The rebounding numbers also include a advantage on Dec. 3 at Baylor with an 18-8 offensive rebounding edge. Senior RaShid Gaston leads Xavier in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. (fourth in the BIG EAST) and offensive rebounding at 2.7 per game (second in the BIG EAST) in 19.8 minutes per game. Gaston grabbed a game-high and career-high 17 rebounds vs. Creighton on Jan. 16, which included nine offensive rebounds. Junior Trevon Bluiett is second on the team at 5.8 rpg. (ninth in the BIG EAST). FOUR GUYS HAVE SIGNED THE BUBBLE: When a Musketeer grabs a double-figure rebound total he is asked to sign the rebounding bubble, the device that sits over the rim for rebounding drills in practice. Senior Malcolm Bernard was the latest to sign when he grabbed a Xavier career-high 10 rebounds in the quarterfinal win over

5 2017 POSTSEASON GUIDE Butler. Sophomore Kaiser Gates signed it on Feb. 8 after grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds vs. DePaul. Senior RaShid Gaston has signed seven times, including for his career-high 17 rebounds vs. Creighton on Jan. 16 (nine offensive rebounds). Gaston had 10 rebounds vs. Missouri on Nov. 17, 11 rebounds at Colorado on Dec. 7 and 14 vs. Utah on Dec. 10. Junior Trevon Bluiett has signed it three times, including after a game-high 10-rebound effort vs. St. John's on Jan. 29 and a game-high 10 rebounds to go with a game-high 24 points at DePaul on March 4. Bluiett had 11 rebounds vs. Lehigh on Nov. 11, while freshman Tyrique Jones had 11 vs. Buffalo on Nov. 14. DOUBLE-DOUBLE VISION: Senior RaShid Gaston leads Xavier in double-doubles with seven, including four in BIG EAST games. That list includes 10 rebounds to go with a Xavier career-high 23 points vs. Villanova on Feb. 11 and 14 rebounds to go with 19 points at Providence on Feb. 15 and 12 points and 10 rebounds at Marquette on Feb. 18. BIG MINUTES FOR MUSKETEER DUO: Junior Trevon Bluiett is first in the BIG EAST in minutes played at 34.8 mpg. and junior J.P. Macura is fifth at 33.2 mpg. Bluiett missed most of the Villanova game on Feb. 11 and all of the Providence (Feb. 15) and Marquette (Feb. 18) games due to an ankle injury. BLUIETT IS IN THE TOP 20 ON THE XAVIER ALL-TIME SCORING LIST: Junior guard Trevon Bluiett, who scored a career-high 40 points at Cincinnati on Jan. 26, had 24 points on Feb. 1 vs. Seton Hall. Bluiett has moved up to 18th place on XU's all-time scoring list with 1,482 points. Bluiett became the 52nd member of XU's 1,000 Point Club in the UNI game on Nov. 20. Next on the list is 17th-place Gary Lumpkin (1,507 points from ). BLUIETT NAMED TO FINAL 10 CANDI- DATES FOR JULIUS ERVING AWARD: Junior Trevon Bluiett has been named by The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as one of the 10 watch list finalists for the 2017 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award for a second straight year. Named after Hall of Famer and 11- time NBA All-Star Julius Erving, the annual honor in its third year recognizes the top small forwards in Division I men s college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates in October, which has now been narrowed to just 10. SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-BIG EAST: Junior Trevon Bluiett was named First Team All-BIG EAST by the league coaches for a second straight year. Bluiett, who was named to the final BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll of the season as well, was named on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll five times this season. Bluiett has earned Player of the Week honors four times in his career, including twice this season. He earned BIG EAST Player of the Week on Feb. 6 after averaging 20.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in addition to scoring decisive baskets in Xavier victories over Seton Hall on Feb. 1 and at then-no. 22 Creighton on Feb. 4. Bluiett also won the award on Jan. 30 for his efforts in road games at Cincinnati on Jan. 26 and at St. John s on Jan. 29. Bluiett scored a career high 40 points at Cincinnati on Jan. 26, XU s first 40-point game since 2003 National Player of the Year David West had 47 in a win over Dayton at Cintas Center in MORE BLUIETT HONORS: Junior guard Trevon Bluiett is on the Lute Olson Award Watch List (collegeinsider.com). The Lute Olson Award is presented to the nation's top Division I player who has played at least two seasons. BLUIETT IS IN THE TOP 10 IN THE BIG EAST IN SCORING AND REBOUNDING: Junior guard Trevon Bluiett, a two-time First Team All-BIG EAST selection, is third in the BIG EAST Conference in scoring at 18.1 ppg., including his 40-point game at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Bluiett is second on the team in rebounding (ninth in the BIG EAST at 5.8 rpg). Bluiett posted career highs for points (40), field goals made (12-of-15) and 3-pointers made (a school-record tying 9-of-11) at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Macura (23) and two more vs. Georgetown on Jan. 22 with Macura (20) and junior Trevon Bluiett (24), marking the fourth time this season that has happened for Xavier. XU also had two 20-point scorers vs. Clemson on Nov. 18 with Macura (28) and junior Trevon Bluiett (21). Bluiett had 25 and Sumner had 24 vs. Lehigh on Nov. 11. Last season XU only had one game with two 20-point scorers. TREY-VON: Junior Trevon Bluiett is ranked fourth in the BIG EAST in 3-point field goals made at 2.5 per game, including six each at Colorado on Dec. 7 and at Baylor on Dec. 3 and a career-high and schoolrecord tying nine at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Romain Sato set the school record with nine vs. Rhode Island ( ). MACURA IS CLOSING IN ON 1,000 POINTS: Junior J.P. Macura, who posted a 20-point game vs. Marquette on March 1 and a 13-point game in the win over DePaul on Wednesday night, has scored 980 career points and is just 20 points shy of becoming the 53rd member of the XU 1,000 Point Club. MACURA MADE A BIG JUMP FROM HIS SOPHOMORE YEAR: Junior J.P. Macura, projected by CBS Sports to be one of the nation's top 20 breakout players before this season, has averaged 14.3 points per game (second on the team and 16th in the BIG EAST Conference) and has 27 double-figure scoring games this season. Macura posted a team-high 22-point game at Seton Hall on Feb. 22, a 23-point game at Georgetown on Dec. 31 and a 20-point game vs. Georgetown on Jan. 22. He leads the team in steals per game at 1.5 spg. (ninth in the BIG EAST), while standing second on the team among active players in assists at 2.8 per game, including a career-high seven vs. Villanova on Feb. 11 and six in Wednesday night's win over DePaul. Macura leads the team and is seventh in the BIG EAST in free-throw shooting at 80.1 percent, including a streak of 20 straight free throws made to start the season. Macura averaged a teamhigh 19.0 ppg. for Xavier's three games in the Tire Pros Invitational, including a career-high 28 points on the strength of a career-high six 3-pointers to go with five assists and three steals in the win over Clemson on Nov. 18. Macura, who was named to the Tire Pros Invitational All-Tournament Team, was the BIG EAST Sixth Man Award winner and averaged 9.4 ppg. STARTING NEW: Junior J.P. Macura, the BIG EAST Sixth Man of the Year, has started each of the first 33 games (the only Musketeer to have started all 33 games). He started four last season. Firstyear senior Malcolm Bernard has started 30 games. Junior Sean O'Mara started the first eight games (first collegiate starts), senior RaShid Gaston has started 17 times, while freshman Tyrique Jones has made his first collegiate starts in nine of the last 13 games. The only two returning starters were junior Trevon Bluiett and sophomore Edmond Sumner, although Sumner has now been lost for the rest of this season and Bluiett missed two games and the majority of a third game recently with an injury. Freshman Quentin Goodin made his 13th collegiate start (12th straight) vs. Butler last night and sophomore Kaiser Gates has made four starts this season. GATES BECOMING A MAJOR FACTOR: Sophomore forward Kaiser Gates, who has averaged 6.2 ppg. and 5.3 rpg. over the last 13 games, had 11 points and seven rebounds at Marquette on Feb. 18. Gates grabbed a career-high and gamehigh 10 rebounds in the win over DePaul on Feb. 8. Gates scored 13 points on the strength of 3-of-4 3-point shooting to go with a team-high eight rebounds vs. Seton Hall on Feb. 1 and had nine rebounds at Creighton on Feb. 4. Gates hit 6-of-8 from the field, including tying his career high with 4-of-6 3-pointers, on his way to a career-high 17 points in the St. John's win on Jan. 7. Gates grabbed nine rebounds vs. St. John's on Jan. 29 at MSG. Gates came up big on Dec. 20 vs. Eastern Washington, connecting on a career-high four 3-pointers on his way to 12 points. Gates, who made his first collegiate start at Cincinnati on Jan. 26, underwent a preseason scope procedure on his left knee and missed the first five games. Gates has started four games. GOODIN STARTING WELL: Freshman guard Quentin Goodin, who has started the last 12 games at point guard, was tied for fourth in the BIG EAST Conference in assists for league games at 3.8 apg. and was second in the BIG EAST in assist/ turnover ratio for league games at 2.2. Goodin has averaged 5.3 assists for the last 12 games (12 straight starts), including a career-high tying eight at Seton Hall on Feb. 22 and on Feb. 18 at Marquette. His assist/turnover ratio for all games (1.9) ranks fifth in the BIG EAST. Goodin contributed 11 points, seven assists and six rebounds vs. Butler on Feb. 26. Goodin had 15 points, five assists and a careerhigh five steals at Creighton on Feb. 4 and dished off a career-high eight assists in the Feb. 8 win over DePaul. He had seven assists in the Feb. 1 Seton Hall win. Goodin scored a career-high 16 points to go with two assists in the win over St. John's on Jan. 29. Goodin contributed seven points and six assists with only one turnover in 15 minutes at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Goodin has averaged 35.3 minutes over the last 12 games (12 straight starts), including a career-high 40 vs. Villanova on Feb. 11. BIG EAST HONORS FOR BIG MAN GASTON: Senior forward RaShid Gaston earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Feb. 13 after averaging 18.5 ppg. and 7.5 rpg. for two games, while shooting 76.2 percent from the field. Gaston had an XU career-high 23 points on shooting vs. Villanova on Feb. 11 and completed his fifth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds. GASTON HAS BEEN A FORCE ON THE BOARDS... PASSED 1,000 CAREER POINTS: Senior forward RaShid Gaston, who transferred to Xavier from Norfolk State, has averaged 10.7 ppg. and 6.7 rpg. over the last nine games, while shooting 70.9 percent from the field. Gaston is third in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage at 59.8 percent, including hitting 8-of-10 at Providence on Feb. 15 on his way to game highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds, while scoring a Xavier career-high 23 points on Feb. 11 vs. Villanova on 10-of-13 shooting from the field to go with 10 rebounds. Gaston leads the team and is fourth in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. and also leads the team in offensive rebounding at 2.7 per game (second in the BIG EAST). Gaston grabbed a game-high and career-high 17 rebounds to go with 12 points vs. Creighton on Jan. 16, an effort which included an XU career-high nine offensive rebounds. Gaston, who has posted a team-high seven double-doubles in scoring-rebounding this season, contributed back-to-back double-doubles with a 14 rebounds to go with 11 points in the Utah win on Dec. 10 and 14 points to go with 11 rebounds, while hitting 7-of-8 shots from the field, on Dec. 7 at Colorado. Gaston, who scored 14 points in the Wake Forest win on Dec. 17, scored 12 points, had a game-high tying 10 rebounds and blocked four shots on Nov. 17 vs. Missouri. Gaston has scored 1,177 collegiate points, including three seasons at Norfolk State. JONES MAKING HIS PRESENCE FELT: Freshman big man Tyrique Jones, who sat out Wednesday's game due to injury but returned to action on Thursday, has started nine of the last 13 games. Jones is ranked second on the team in offensive rebounding at 1.7 rpg., which ranks 10th in the BIG

Jones grabbed six rebounds in 16 minutes in his first collegiate start vs. St. John's Jan. 29. He had six points, five rebounds and an assist in 12 minutes off the bench at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Jones grabbed a game-high and career-high 11 rebounds vs. Buffalo on Nov. 14. Jones contributed 10 points vs. St. John's on Jan. 7 to go with five rebounds and two blocks. JONES ENJOYED A PERFECT SHOOTING DAY AT CREIGHTON: Freshman Tyrique Jones hit 8-8 from the field at Creighton on Feb. 4 for a career-high 16 points. Sumner had successful surgery on March 1. SUMNER STOOD OUT: Sophomore Edmond Sumner, a preseason First Team All-BIG EAST selection by the league coaches, led Xavier in assists at 5.0 apg. Sumner dished off a career-high tying nine assists with zero turnovers vs. Eastern Washington on Dec. 20. Sumner was second on the team in scoring at 15.0 ppg., including a team-high 16.9 ppg. in BIG EAST play. He was also second on the team in steals at 1.3 spg. BERNARD HAS BEEN RECORDING CAREER EFFORTS: Senior guard Malcolm Bernard, a graduate student who played last season at FAMU, contributed 12 points, a Xavier career-high 10 rebounds and a Xavier career-high tying four assists in last night's Butler win. Bernard scored an XU career-high tying 13 points to go with five rebounds, two assists and two steals at DePaul on March 4. It marked his third straight game with 13 points. Bernard posted a career-high tying 13 points and a career-high tying three steals and four rebounds vs. Butler on Feb. 26 and followed that up with a career-high tying 13 points to go with five rebounds vs. Marquette on March 1. Bernard has posted nine double-figure scoring games as a Musketeer, including four of the last five games. Bernard had 12 points in the win over Georgetown on Jan. 22 and 10 points with a career-high tying eight rebounds at Butler on Jan. 14. Bernard, who has started 30 of the first 33 games, contributed 10 points in the St. John's win on Jan. 7 on 4-of-4 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. O'MARA POSTED A CAREER EFFORT AT MARQUETTE: Junior Sean O'Mara came up big off the bench with 10 points and four rebounds in the Butler win last night. O'Mara scored a career-high and teamhigh 14 points on Feb. 18 at Marquette to go with five rebounds and a career-high three blocks. O'Mara has played in all 33 games this season, starting eight times and recording seven double-figure scoring games. O'Mara came up big in the Feb. 1 win over Seton Hall with 11 points and five rebounds in 14 minutes of action. O'Mara, who scored 12 points vs. North Dakota State on Nov. 29, came up big with a career-high 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go with five rebounds vs. Missouri on Nov. 17. O'Mara, who is shooting 59.0 percent (72-of-122) for the season, hit all three of his shots on his way to eight points in 13 minutes vs. Providence on Dec. 28 and hit all three of his shots at Villanova on Jan. 10. CHRIS MACK IS XAVIER'S FIRST-EVER NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR... SECOND ON XU S ALL-TIME WINS LIST: Head coach Chris Mack was selected as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Henry Iba Award winner as National Coach of the Year and the CBS Sports and Basketball Times Magazine National Coach of the Year in addition to being runner up for Associated Press National Coach of the Year. Mack, who is in his eighth season at the helm, has recorded a (.673) mark so far, which is good for second on Xavier s all-time wins list. Mack has more NCAA Tournament wins (7) than any Xavier head coach in program history. He trails only Pete Gillen (202 wins in nine seasons from ) in overall wins. Mack played under Gillen at XU. Mack led Xavier to the NCAA Tournament six times in his first seven seasons. He is the first XU head coach to lead XU to three Sweet 16s (2010, 2012 and 2015). CONSISTENT CONFERENCE SUCCESS: Xavier, 9-9 in the BIG EAST regular season, has recorded 35 straight seasons at.500 or better in conference play (MCC, Atlantic 10 and BIG EAST).
