GAME KEYS THAT STAND OUT Xavier has secured its fourth straight NCAA Tournament berth and its 11th in the last 12 years; only eight schools have been to at least 11 of the last 12 tourneys. Xavier is one of seven (out of 10 teams) in the BIG EAST Conference to make the Tournament field. Xavier eighth-year head coach Chris Mack has led XU to seven NCAA Tournaments in eight years, including three Sweet 16 appearances. Xavier, 21-13, has its fourth straight 20-win season and its 11th in 12 years. Xavier is 2nd in the BIG EAST and No. 20 nationally in rebound margin (+6.6 rpg.). Xavier junior All-America candidate Trevon Bluiett was named First Team All-BIG EAST and All-BIG EAST Tournament Team each of the last two years. Xavier's Trevon Bluiett, third in the BIG EAST in scoring at 18.1 ppg. and eighth in rebounding at 5.8 rpg., has 16 games with 20 points or more this season. Xavier junior J.P. Macura is second on the team in scoring and 16th in the BIG EAST at 14.5 ppg. He is coming off a game-high 22-point effort vs. Creighton. Xavier's Trevon Bluiett is 18th on XU's all-time scoring list with 1,500 points, while teammate J.P. Macura just joined the XU 1,000 Point Club at 1,002 (53rd member). Xavier freshman Quentin Goodin, who has started 13 straight games at point guard, has averaged 5.2 apg. for those 13 starts. Xavier senior RaShid Gaston ranks third in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage at 59.0 percent and fourth in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. Xavier senior Malcolm Bernard, who hails from Miami, Fla., has averaged 10.5 ppg. and 5.8 rpg. over the last six games. 4 THE XAVIER-MARYLAND SERIES: Maryland leads the series 2-0. This is the second time that the two teams have met in the NCAA Tournament. No. 6 seed Maryland beat No. 3 seed Xavier in the 2003 NCAA Tournament Second Round in Nashville, Tenn. ORLANDO HAS BEEN GOOD TO XAVIER: Xavier enjoyed its last NCAA Tournament trip to Orlando, defeating Louisville and Mississippi State in the 2004 First/Second Rounds as part of a run that ended in XU's first-ever Elite Eight appearance. Counting those two NCAA games, Xavier has recorded a 9-2 record in Orlando since 2004, including six straight in Orlando over the past two seasons: wins over Alabama, USC and Dayton to win the 2015 Advocare Invitational and wins over Missouri, Clemson and Northern Iowa to capture the 2016 Tire Pros Invitational. ACTUALLY ALL OF FLORIDA HAS BEEN GOOD TO THE MUSKETEERS: In addition to adding key starter Malcolm Bernard, a graduate student, Miami native and transfer from FAMU, Xavier has enjoyed its time on the court in Florida. Xavier has won its last eight games in the state of Florida, including two NCAA Tournament wins in Jacksonville in 2015 and the two neutral site tourney titles (Advocare Invitational and Tire Pros Invitational). NCAA TOURNAMENT ELITE COMPANY: Xavier has made 11 of the last 12 NCAA Tournaments and 15 of the last 17. Only eight schools have been to at least 11 NCAA Tournaments in the last 12 years: Duke, Kansas, Gonzaga, Michigan State and Wisconsin are at 12, while Xavier, North Carolina and Villanova are at 11. SWEET SUCCESS IN THE NCAA TOURNA- MENT: Xavier has reached at least the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 five times since 2008, including 2015, 2012, 2010, 2009 and XU advanced to the Elite Eight in Only 10 teams have made at least five Sweet 16s since 2008: Michigan State (7), Louisville (6), Kansas (6), North Carolina (6), Duke (6), Wisconsin (6), Xavier (5), Arizona (5), Syracuse (5) and Kentucky (5). Xavier has made seven all-time appearances in the Sweet 16: 1990, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and XU advanced to the Elite Eight in 2004 and 2008, the best finishes so far in school history. XAVIER'S NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY: Xavier, all-time in the NCAA Tournament, was 1-6 in NCAA play prior to 1990 but is from 1990-present. XU lost to the eventual National Champions in the first round in 1988 (Kansas) and 1989 (Michigan). Xavier is making its 27th alltime appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2017, which includes 17 at-large berths, six automatic berths through the MCC and four automatic berths in the Atlantic 10. TRADITION: Xavier is making its 30th postseason appearance in the last 35 years ( ). That span includes 26 NCAA Tournament appearances, including four straight, 11 of the last 12 and 15 of the last 17 NCAA Tournaments. XU only made the NCAA Tournament field one time (1961) before the season. CURRENT PLAYERS IN THE NCAA TOUR- NAMENT: Only two Musketeers, juniors Trevon Bluiett and J.P. Macura, have logged 20 minutes of NCAA Tournament action in their careers. Bluiett, who has played in five career NCAA games, started both games in 2016 and averaged 8.5 ppg. and 5.5 rpg. Macura, who has also played in five career NCAA games, came off the bench to contribute 6.0 ppg. in MACK IS TOPS AMONG ALL XAVIER COACHES IN NCAA TOURNAMENT WINS: Eighth-year head coach Chris Mack, who is in his eighth season at the helm, has recorded a (.670) mark so far, which is good for second on Xavier s all-time wins list. Mack has more NCAA Tournament wins (7) than any Xavier head coach in program history. He trails only Pete Gillen (202 wins in nine seasons from ) in overall wins. Mack played under Gillen at XU. Mack has led Xavier to the NCAA Tournament seven times in his first eight seasons. He is the first XU head coach to lead XU to three Sweet 16s (2010, 2012 and 2015). Mack was selected as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Henry Iba Award winner as National Coach of the Year and the CBS Sports and Basketball Times Magazine National Coach of the Year. BIG EAST IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT... SEVEN NCAA BERTHS IN 2017: The BIG EAST Conference has earned 22 NCAA Tournament berths in its first four years in the current 10-team configuration, including seven in The BIG EAST had five in 2016, six in 2015 and four in Nine of the 10 schools in the BIG EAST have earned at least one NCAA berth in the past four seasons: Xavier (4), Villanova (4), Providence (4), Butler (3), Seton Hall (2), Creighton (2), Georgetown (1), St. John s (1) and Marquette (1). SEEING 20-20: Xavier, 21-13, has secured its fourth straight 20-win season, its 11th in 12 years and 19th in 21 years. FOR THE RECORD (XAVIER): Xavier, overall and 9-9 in the BIG EAST Conference regular season, reached the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament where it fell to Creighton (NCAA No. 6 seed), 75-72, on March 10. XU tied the score at 72-all on a 3-pointer by junior Trevon Bluiett with 16 seconds left but Creighton answered with what proved to be the game-winning 3-pointer just seconds later. Bluiett finished with 18 points, while junior J.P. Macura led Xavier with a gamehigh 22 points. XAVIER DEFEATED BUTLER IN THE BIG EAST QUARTERFINALS: The Musketeers recorded a win over Butler (NCAA No. 4 seed) on March 9. Xavier trailed by seven points, 49-42, with under eight minutes left. Junior Trevon Bluiett led the comeback with 17 of his game-high 23 points coming in the second half, including the jumper with 17 seconds left that gave XU the lead for good at Senior Malcolm Bernard contributed 12 points, a Xavier career-high 10 rebounds and a Xavier career-high tying four assists. BLUIETT NAMED TO THE BIG EAST ALL- TOURNAMENT TEAM AGAIN: Junior Trevon Bluiett was named to the All-BIG EAST Tournament Team for the second straight year. Bluiett averaged 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists for Xavier's three games. CLOSE CALLS: Xavier, coming off a heartbreaking loss to Creighton on March 10, has compiled a 5-2 record this season in games decided by four points or less. XU won over Seton Hall on Feb. 1 and at Creighton on Feb. 4. Xavier's other close wins include Wake Forest, 69-65, on Dec. 17. Xavier had only two of its 34 games last season decided by four points or less, the last-second loss to Wisconsin in the 2016 NCAA Second Round and the loss to Seton Hall in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals. In fact, XU had only one of its 30 regular season games last season decided by less than seven points, the win over Creighton at Cintas Center (3-5-16). DEE-FENSE IS KEY: Xavier is 12-1 this season when it holds the opposition under 70 points, including its win over Butler on March 9. BOARD CHAIRMEN: Xavier is second in the BIG EAST Conference and 20th in the nation in rebound margin (+6.6 rpg.). XU has outrebounded 27 of its 34 opponents this season, including (22-5 in offensive rebounds) vs. Villanova on Feb. 11. The rebounding numbers also include a

5 47-35 advantage on Dec. 3 at Baylor with an 18-8 offensive rebounding edge. Senior RaShid Gaston leads Xavier in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. (fourth in the BIG EAST) and offensive rebounding at 2.6 per game (second in the BIG EAST) in 19.6 minutes per game. Gaston grabbed a game-high and career-high 17 rebounds vs. Creighton on Jan. 16, which included nine offensive rebounds. Junior Trevon Bluiett is second on the team at 5.8 rpg. (eighth in the BIG EAST). FOUR GUYS HAVE SIGNED THE BUBBLE: When a Musketeer grabs a double-figure rebound total he is asked to sign the rebounding bubble, the device that sits over the rim for rebounding drills in practice. Senior Malcolm Bernard was the latest to sign when he grabbed a Xavier career-high 10 rebounds in the BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinal win over Butler on March 9. Sophomore Kaiser Gates signed it on Feb. 8 after grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds vs. DePaul. Senior RaShid Gaston has signed seven times, including for his career-high 17 rebounds vs. Creighton on Jan. 16 (nine offensive rebounds). Gaston had 10 rebounds vs. Missouri on Nov. 17, 11 rebounds at Colorado on Dec. 7 and 14 vs. Utah on Dec. 10. Junior Trevon Bluiett has signed it three times, including after a game-high 10-rebound effort vs. St. John's on Jan. 29 and a game-high 10 rebounds to go with a game-high 24 points at DePaul on March 4. Bluiett had 11 rebounds vs. Lehigh on Nov. 11, while freshman Tyrique Jones had 11 vs. Buffalo on Nov. 14. DOUBLE-DOUBLE VISION: Senior RaShid Gaston leads Xavier in double-doubles with seven, including four in BIG EAST games. That list includes 10 rebounds to go with a Xavier career-high 23 points vs. Villanova on Feb. 11 and 14 rebounds to go with 19 points at Providence on Feb. 15 and 12 points and 10 rebounds at Marquette on Feb. 18. BIG MINUTES FOR MUSKETEER DUO: Junior Trevon Bluiett is first in the BIG EAST in minutes played at 34.9 mpg. and junior J.P. Macura is third at 33.3 mpg. Bluiett missed most of the Villanova game on Feb. 11 and all of the Providence (Feb. 15) and Marquette (Feb. 18) games due to an ankle injury. MACURA JOINS THE XU 1,000 POINT CLUB: Junior J.P. Macura scored a gamehigh 22 points in Xavier's last game on March 10 vs. Creighton at the BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden, raising his career total to 1,002 points. Bluiett has moved up to 18th place on XU's all-time scoring list with 1,500 career points. Bluiett became the 52nd member of XU's 1,000 Point Club in the UNI game on Nov. 20. Next on the list is 17th-place Gary Lumpkin (1,507 points from ). BLUIETT NAMED TO FINAL 10 CANDI- DATES FOR JULIUS ERVING AWARD: Junior Trevon Bluiett has been named by The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as one of the 10 watch list finalists for the 2017 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award for a second straight year. Named after Hall of Famer and 11- time NBA All-Star Julius Erving, the annual honor in its third year recognizes the top small forwards in Division I men s college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates in October, which has now been narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Mr. Erving and the Hall of Fame s selection committee for the 2017 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award. The winner of the 2017 Julius Erving Award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in April. BIG EAST HONORS... SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-BIG EAST: Junior Trevon Bluiett was named First Team All-BIG EAST by the league coaches for a second straight year. This past weekend he was named to the All-BIG EAST Tournament Team for the second straight year. Bluiett was named on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll five times this season. Bluiett has earned Player of the Week honors four times in his career, including twice this season. MORE BLUIETT HONORS: Junior guard Trevon Bluiett is on the Lute Olson Award Watch List (collegeinsider.com). The Lute Olson Award is presented to the nation's top Division I player who has played at least two seasons. It marked XU's first 40-point game since 2003 National Player of the Year David West had 47 in a win over Dayton at Cintas Center on Feb. 8, BLUIETT'S VISION: Junior Trevon Bluiett has posted a team-high point+ games this season, including his game-high 23-point game on March 9 vs. Butler. Bluiett had a game-high 24 points to go with a game-high 10 rebounds at DePaul on March 4 and a team-high 21 points vs. Butler on Feb. 26. Bluiett had a team-high 24 points vs. Seton Hall on Feb. 1, a team-high 21 points vs. St. John's on Jan. 29 and a career-high 40 points at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. TREY-VON: Junior Trevon Bluiett is ranked fourth in the BIG EAST in 3-point field goals made at 2.5 per game, including a career-high and school-record tying nine at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Romain Sato set the school record with nine vs. Rhode Island ( ). Bluiett connected for six 3-pointers each at Colorado on Dec. 7 and at Baylor on Dec. 3. MACURA MADE A BIG JUMP FROM HIS SOPHOMORE YEAR: Junior J.P. Macura, projected by CBS Sports to be one of the nation's top 20 breakout players before this season, has averaged 14.5 points per game (second on the team and 16th in the BIG EAST Conference) and has 28 double-figure scoring games this season. Macura, coming off a game-high 22-point effort vs. Creighton on March 10, posted a team-high 22-point game at Seton Hall on Feb. 22, a 23-point game at Georgetown on Dec. 31 and a 20-point game vs. Georgetown on Jan. 22. He leads the team in steals per game at 1.4 spg. (ninth in the BIG EAST), while standing second on the team among active players in assists at 2.9 per game, including a career-high seven vs. Villanova on Feb. 11. Macura leads the team and is sixth in the BIG EAST in freethrow shooting at 80.4 percent, including a streak of 20 straight free throws made to start the season. Macura averaged a teamhigh 19.0 ppg. for Xavier's three games in the Tire Pros Invitational in Orlando, including a career-high 28 points on the strength of a career-high six 3-pointers to go with five assists and three steals in the win over Clemson on Nov. 18. Macura was named to the Tire Pros Invitational All- Tournament Team. STARTING NEW: Junior J.P. Macura, the BIG EAST Sixth Man of the Year, has started each of the first 34 games (the only Musketeer to have started all 34 games). He started four last season. Firstyear senior Malcolm Bernard has started 31 games. Junior Sean O'Mara started the first eight games (first collegiate starts), senior RaShid Gaston has started 18 times, while freshman Tyrique Jones has made his first collegiate starts in nine of the last 14 games. The only two returning starters were junior Trevon Bluiett and sophomore Edmond Sumner, although Sumner has now been lost for the rest of this season and Bluiett missed two games and the majority of a third game recently with an injury. Freshman Quentin Goodin made his 14th collegiate start (13th straight) vs. Creighton on March 10 and sophomore Kaiser Gates has made four starts this season. GATES BECOMING A BIG FACTOR: Sophomore forward Kaiser Gates, who has averaged 5.7 ppg. and 5.0 rpg. over the last 14 games, had 11 points and seven rebounds at Marquette on Feb. 18. Gates grabbed a career-high and game-high 10 rebounds in the win over DePaul on Feb. 8. Gates scored 13 points on the strength of 3-of-4 3-point shooting to go with a team-high eight rebounds vs. Seton Hall on Feb. 1 and had nine rebounds at Creighton on Feb. 4. Gates hit 6-of-8 from the field, including tying his career high with 4-of-6 3-pointers, on his way to a career-high 17 points in the St. John's win on Jan. 7. Gates grabbed nine rebounds vs. St. John's on Jan. 29 at Madison Square Garden. Gates came up big on Dec. 20 vs. Eastern Washington, connecting on a career-high four 3-pointers on his way to 12 points. Gates, who made his first collegiate start at Cincinnati on Jan. 26, underwent a preseason scope procedure on his left knee and missed the first five games. Gates has started four games. GOODIN STARTING WELL: Freshman guard Quentin Goodin, who has started the last 13 games at point guard, has averaged 5.2 assists per game since taking over the starting spot. Goodin contributed 9.7 ppg. during the BIG EAST Tournament, including 11 points vs. Creighton on March 10. Goodin was tied for fourth in the BIG EAST Conference in assists for league games at 3.8 apg. and was second in the BIG EAST in assist/turnover ratio for league games at 2.2. Goodin had a career-high tying eight assists at Seton Hall on Feb. 22 and on Feb. 18 at Marquette. His assist/turnover ratio for all games (1.8) ranks fifth in the BIG EAST. Goodin contributed 11 points, seven assists and six rebounds vs. Butler on Feb. 26. Goodin had 15 points, five assists and a careerhigh five steals at Creighton on Feb. 4 and dished off a career-high eight assists in the Feb. 8 win over DePaul. He had seven assists in the Feb. 1 Seton Hall win. Goodin scored a career-high 16 points to go with two assists in the win over St. John's on Jan. 29. Goodin contributed seven points and six assists with only one turnover in 15 minutes at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Goodin has averaged 35.7 minutes over the last 13 games (13 straight starts), including a career-high 40 vs. Villanova on Feb. 11. BIG EAST HONORS FOR BIG MAN GASTON: Senior forward RaShid Gaston earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Feb. 13 after averaging 18.5 ppg. and 7.5 rpg. for two games, while shooting 76.2 percent from the field. Gaston had an XU career-high 23 points on shooting vs. Villanova on Feb. 11 and completed the double-double with 10 rebounds. GASTON HAS BEEN A FORCE ON THE BOARDS... PASSED 1,000 CAREER POINTS: Senior forward RaShid Gaston, who transferred to Xavier from Norfolk State, has averaged 10.0 ppg. and 6.6 rpg. over the last 10 games, while shooting 67.8 percent from the field. Gaston is third in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage at 59.0 percent, including hitting 8-of-10 at Providence on Feb. 15 on his way to game highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds, while scoring a Xavier career-high 23 points on Feb. 11 vs. Villanova on 10-of-13 shooting from the field to go with 10 rebounds. Gaston leads the team and is fourth in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. and also leads the team in offensive rebounding at 2.6 per game (second in the BIG EAST). Gaston grabbed a game-high and career-high 17 rebounds to go with 12 points vs. Creighton on Jan. 16, an effort which included an XU career-high nine offensive rebounds. Gaston, who has posted a team-high seven double-doubles in scoring-rebounding this season, contributed back-to-back double-doubles with a 14 rebounds to go with 11 points in the Utah win on Dec. 10 and 14 points to go with 11 rebounds, while hitting 7-of-8 shots from the field, on Dec. 7 at Colorado. Gaston, who scored 14 points in the Wake Forest win on Dec. 17, scored 12 points, had a game-high tying 10 rebounds and blocked four shots on Nov. 17 vs. Missouri. Gaston has scored 1,181 collegiate points, including three seasons at Norfolk State. JONES MAKING HIS PRESENCE FELT: Freshman big man Tyrique Jones, who has started nine of the last 14 games, is ranked second on the team in offensive rebounding at 1.7 rpg., which ranks 11th in the BIG EAST despite logging 10.8 minutes per game. Jones, who had a 13-point game at Marquette on 6-of-8 shooting, has hit

Jones hit 8-8 from the field at Creighton on Feb. 4 for a career-high 16 points against heralded Bluejay big man Justin Patton. Jones grabbed six rebounds in 16 minutes in his first collegiate start vs. St. John's Jan. 29. He had six points, five rebounds and an assist in 12 minutes off the bench at Cincinnati on Jan. 26. Jones grabbed a game-high and career-high 11 rebounds vs. Buffalo on Nov. 14. Jones contributed 10 points vs. St. John's on Jan. 7 to go with five rebounds and two blocks. JONES ENJOYED A PERFECT SHOOTING DAY AT CREIGHTON: Freshman Tyrique Jones hit 8-8 from the field at Creighton on Feb. 4 for a career-high 16 points. His 8-8 effort equaled the best field goal percentage effort by a Musketeer in over 20 years. Sumner had successful surgery on March 1. SUMNER STOOD OUT: Sophomore Edmond Sumner, a preseason First Team All-BIG EAST selection by the league coaches, led Xavier in assists at 5.0 apg. Sumner dished off a career-high tying nine assists with zero turnovers vs. Eastern Washington on Dec. 20. Sumner was second on the team in scoring at 15.0 ppg., including a team-high 16.9 ppg. in BIG EAST play. He was also second on the team in steals at 1.3 spg. Sumner scored all of his game-high 22 points in the second half at Butler on Jan. 14, his fourth 20-point game of the season. Sumner had a careerhigh 28 points with eight rebounds and six assists in the Georgetwon win on Dec. 31. BERNARD HAS BEEN RECORDING CAREER EFFORTS: Senior guard Malcolm Bernard, a graduate student who played last season at FAMU, has averaged 10.5 ppg. and 5.8 rpg. over the last six games. Bernard contributed 12 points, a Xavier career-high 10 rebounds and a Xavier career-high tying four assists in the Butler win on March 9. Bernard scored an XU career-high tying 13 points to go with five rebounds at DePaul on March 4. It marked his third straight game with 13 points. Bernard posted a career-high tying 13 points and a career-high tying three steals and four rebounds vs. Butler on Feb. 26 and followed that up with a career-high tying 13 points to go with five rebounds vs. Marquette on March 1. Bernard has posted nine double-figure scoring games as a Musketeer. Bernard had 12 points in the win over Georgetown on Jan. 22 and 10 points with a career-high tying eight rebounds at Butler on Jan. 14. Bernard, who has started 31 of the first 34 games, contributed 10 points in the St. John's win on Jan. 7 on 4-of-4 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. Bernard posted a 10-point effort vs. Eastern Washington on Dec. 20, contributed seven points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals to the Providence win on Dec. 28 and nine points, including two big 3-pointers, in the win at Georgetown on Dec. 31. He had a 10-point, eight-rebound, three-assist and three-steal game vs. North Dakota State on Nov. 29. He contributed six points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals vs. Missouri on Nov. 17, including a game-saving block with two seconds left in overtime that led to XU's game-winning possession. He had nine points and seven rebounds vs. Clemson on Nov. 18. O'MARA HAS POSTED KEY EFFORTS: Junior Sean O'Mara came up big off the bench with 10 points and four rebounds in the Butler win on March 9. O'Mara scored a career-high and team-high 14 points on Feb. 18 at Marquette to go with five rebounds and a career-high three blocks. O'Mara has played in all 34 games this season, starting eight times and recording seven double-figure scoring games. O'Mara came up big in the Feb. 1 win over Seton Hall with 11 points and five rebounds in 14 minutes of action. O'Mara, who scored 12 points vs. North Dakota State on Nov. 29, came up big with a career-high 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go with five rebounds vs. Missouri on Nov. 17. O'Mara, who is shooting 60.0 percent (75-of-125) for the season, hit all three of his shots on his way to eight points in 13 minutes vs. Providence on Dec. 28 and hit all three of his shots at Villanova on Jan. 10. CONSISTENT CONFERENCE SUCCESS: Xavier, 9-9 in the BIG EAST regular season, has recorded 35 straight seasons at.500 or better in conference play (MCC, Atlantic 10 and BIG EAST).
