3 CARDINALS VS. SEAHAWKS IN 2010 Seahawks 22, CARDINALS 10 October 24, 2010 Qwest Field (67,038) In a week 7 match-up of 3-2 teams battling for first place in the NFC West, the Seahawks took advantage of 5 Cardinals turnovers to claim a win. That gave them sole possession of first place in the division on a day when the Rams and 49ers both lost. Only a strong showing from the AZ defense kept the game close. Despite frequent short fields due to turnovers (3 of which set Seattle up inside the AZ 20) the Cards D surrendered just one TD and forced Seattle to settle for Olindo Mare FGs on 5 other occasions. The lone TD came when Seattle took over at the AZ 2 following a muffed punt. After recording 8 sacks in the season s first 5 games, the Cardinals defense recorded 5 of Matt Hasselbeck on this day. On the first drive of the game, Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch s 39-yard run helped move the Hawks to the AZ 1 but tackles for losses backed them into a 20-yard Mare FG. On the 5 th play of the next AZ series, Earl Thomas had an INT near midfield off Max Hall, the undrafted rookie QB who was making his 2 nd career start and first on the road. However Alan Branch sacked Hasselbeck 3 plays later forcing a fumble that Darnell Dockett recovered at the SEA 45. The Cards were not able to capitalize and went 3-n-out. After trading punts, Tim Hightower ripped off a 24-yard run to the SEA 41 but at the end of a 13-yard rush on the next play he turned the ball over on a fumble. The Cards defense forced a 3-n-out but rookie Andre Roberts muffed the ensuing punt and after a mad scrum, the Seahawks recovered at the AZ 2. A Mike Williams TD pass from Hasselbeck made it 10-0 heading into the half. On the 3 rd play after intermission, Hall was sacked and fumbled, turning it over at the AZ11. A Joey Porter sack helped to force Seattle into another FG. RB Jason Wright then mishandled the ensuing kickoff and the Seahawks took over at the AZ 16. The Cards defense again kept them out of the end zone and held Seattle to just 3 points. When the AZ offense returned to the field down 16-0, it was with Derek Anderson at QB as a hit to the head on the sack/fumble play sidelined Hall. Behind Anderson s passing (3-3, 42 yards) and Beanie Wells running (5-26), Arizona moved 70 yards in 8 plays and got on the scoreboard with Wells 2-yard TD run. Seattle responded with a long drive of its own (14 plays, 78 yards) that ended with another Mare FG (24). LaRod Stephens-Howling s 71-yard kickoff return to the SEA 33 set-up a 24-yard Jay Feely FG early in the 4 th. The next Seattle drive ended with yet another Mare FG midway thru the 4 th that made it CARDINALS SEAHAWKS Team Qtr. It looked promising early for Arizona. LaRod Stephens-Howling returned the opening kickoff 52 yards to the AZ48 and a 33-yard completion from Derek Anderson to Larry Fitzgerald subsequently moved it to the 2. On the next play, Tim Hightower ran it in for Arizona s first opening drive TD of the year. The Seahawks came right back with a 12-play, 77-yard drive that ended on a 1-yard Marshawn Lynch TD run and included 3 catches from Mike Williams to convert 3 rd downs. Late in the 1 st quarter the Cards couldn t convert after starting at the SEA33 and following a punt, the Seahawks took over at their own 10. A 44-yard completion down the middle to TE Chris Baker set up a 41-yard Olindo Mare FG. Consecutive catches of 21 and 36 yards by Steve Breaston on the next AZ series moved it to the SEA 3 and led to Jay Feely s 23-yard FG that tied the game at 10. However, Seattle surged ahead when Deon Butler and Matt Hasselbeck connected on a 63-yard pass play that made it The Seahawks threatened again late in the half. With 1:10 left, they went for it on 4 th -n-1 at the AZ16 but the Cards D stopped Hasselbeck short on a QB sneak. Hasselbeck missed the first two series of the 2 nd half with a left wrist injury and Charlie Whitehurst took over. He led SEA to the AZ22 before Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie ended the drive with an INT that he returned 26 yards to the AZ44. After a 3-n-out from the Cards offense, the defense appeared to come up with another takeaway on a Williams fumble recovered by Joey Porter but it was changed to an incompletion after Seattle s challenge. Mare s subsequent 34-yard FG made it On the next snap Anderson s pass to Fitzgerald was tipped and INT d by Kelly Jennings at the AZ32; the takeaway led to a Mare FG (19). Two plays later, Anderson was sacked forcing a fumble that Seattle recovered at the AZ17. The defense again forced them to settle for a Mare FG. Leon Washington s 48-yard punt return following a Cardinals 3-n-out set the Seahawks up at the AZ11 and led to yet another Mare FG, this one a 19-yarder that made it Arizona s no huddle offense then moved 79 yards in 12 plays and produced a TD that trimmed the lead to thanks to a 2-yard Anderson pass to Early Doucet and successful 2-point conversion. The Cards on-side kick attempt was unsuccessful and that effectively ended Arizona s comeback hopes. SEAHAWKS CARDINALS Team Qtr. 5 LAST WEEK S GAME Redskins 22, CARDINALS 21 September 18, 2011 FedEx Field (76,330) In a back-and-forth week 2 affair at Washington, the Cards withstood some early blows from the Redskins to take an 8-point lead in the 4 th quarter. However, the Redskins scored twice in the final 5:17 to earn the 1-point victory that dropped Arizona to 1-1. Washington penetrated the AZ40 on all 5 of its first half drives while holding a advantage in total yards and a 13-minute edge in time of possession. On the game s opening series the Redskins advanced to the AZ 6; however Rex Grossman s 3 rd -n-goal pass was INT d by SS Adrian Wilson at the 2. On the next Redskins drive they faced 3 rd -n-8 from the AZ39 when Grossman s pass was tipped by WR Anthony Armstrong and INT d by CB Richard Marshall who returned it 33 yards to the Washington 37. Two plays later Kevin Kolb hit TE Jeff King with a 21-yard TD pass to put the Cards up 7-0. The Redskins answered with a 14-play, 77-yard drive that chewed 8:29 off the clock and ended with Graham Gano s 26-yard FG. The Skins then took the lead on their next series thanks to a 1-yard Grossman TD pass to TE Fred Davis. They moved 80 yards in 6 play thanks to a 33-yard catch-n-run from rookie RB Roy Helu and a 20-yard run by ex-cardinal Tim Hightower. Late in the first half, a Brandon Banks punt return and 15-yard facemask set the Redskins up at the AZ20 with 1:36 on the clock. They came away empty, however, when Gano s 30-yard FG try was swatted by 6-8 DE Calais Campbell, the 3 rd FG block of his career. The Cards started the 2 nd half with the ball and down just 3. They quickly moved inside the Washington 20 but a Kolb 3 rd down pass went off the hands of WR Andre Roberts and was INT d by LB London Fletcher at the 11 to end the threat. The Cards came back to take the lead on the next series, moving 90 yards in 9 plays. RB Beanie Wells had a 25-yard run on the drive and capped it with his 2-yard TD run. Early in the 4 th, Washington moved to the AZ5 but settled for a 23-yard Gano FG that trimmed the margin to On the first play of the next drive, Kolb threw it deep down the right sideline for Larry Fitzgerald, releasing it just before a blind-side hit; the all-pro WR hauled it in for a 73-yard TD. On the play, Fitzgerald tied Roy Green for most TD catches in team history (66) and also tied Anquan Boldin for the franchise record for most 100-yard receiving games (29). Now down 8, the Redskins faced a 4 th -n-3 at the AZ18 with just over 5 minutes to play. They went for it and Grossman hit Santana Moss in the corner of the end zone; when the 2-point try failed the Skins trailed After a Cards 3-n-out, Grossman moved Washington from its own 36 to the AZ16 to set-up Gano s 34-yard go-ahead FG. On Arizona s next play from scrimmage, Kolb hit WR Chansi Stuckey on a 12-yard pass up the middle but he fumbled as he was going to the ground and Washington recovered to seal the win. 6 APPROACHING THE RECORD Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt enters this week s game vs. Seattle with 37 career victories (postseason included). Team President Michael Bidwill, General Manager Rod Graves, as well as Director of Player Personnel Steve Keim and his staff of scouts, wasted no time in filling out the roster. A busy week of signings and deals began after the CBA agreement was ratified by the players on 7/27, when the Cardinals signed a group of 21 rookie free agents, and the team didn t slow down from there. When the dust had settled after the first week of the free agency period, the team had signed 51 players to contracts, including QB Kevin Kolb, who the team acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. The staff had proved they were ready to handle the task of crafting a roster filled with veterans and younger player alike, in the matter of a few days. I think it was all part of our plan, Bidwill said. We knew we d have a great opportunity in a short window once the collective bargaining agreement was finished. We just wanted to go out there and put our best foot forward, really go out there and take a shot at some of the best players across the league. Now in his 15 th season with the Cards, (5 th year as the GM), Graves has a lot of experience building rosters, having put together teams that won back-to-back division titles in and earned a berth in Super Bowl XLIII. Even for him, the first week of free agency in 2011 will be something to remember. Once the doors opened for business, it came at us fast, Graves said. The phone calls were non-stop, dealing with the agents, the players and so forth. It was the most incredible process that I ve ever been through, but again, I am certainly proud of our organization and what we accomplished. CARDS UNDER THE WHIZ Head coach Ken Whisenhunt had an impressive run in his first four-plus seasons with the Cardinals. Prior to the 2010 season, Whisenhunt earned a four-year contract extension with a team option for a fifth. Arizona s win during week one vs. Carolina gave Whisenhunt a 3-2 record in season openers. The win also improved the Cardinals record to at University of Phoenix Stadium under Whisenhunt (including postseason). Below is a look at an impressive list of achievements that Whisenhunt has put together during his time in Arizona: The Cardinals earned NFC West titles in 2008 and 09, earning their first back-to-back division titles since Arizona s win over Green Bay in the 2009 Wild Card matchup gave the Cardinals wins in the postseason in back-to-back years for the first time in franchise history. The Cardinals have won twice as many playoffs games under Whisenhunt (4) as they had won in their total playoff history (2) prior to his tenure. Under Whisenhunt, the Cardinals appeared in six playoff contests between , after appearing in seven total postseason games in the franchise s history prior to his arrival. Arizona finished with a 10-6 record in 09, giving the Cardinals 10+ wins in the regular season for the first time since 1976 (10-4). Whisenhunt was the first head coach in franchise history with a.500 record or better in each of his first three seasons. The Cardinals were 8-8 in 2007, 9-7 in 2008 and 10-6 in 09. Whisenhunt finished with a 4-4 record at University of Phoenix Stadium in 10, joining Don Coryell ( ) as the only coaches in franchise history to post four consecutive seasons with at least a.500 record. Whisenhunt is the first head coach in franchise history to post a.500 record or better at home in each of his first four seasons. The Cardinals started the 2009 season with a 5-0 record on the road for the first time since The Cardinals posted a 6-2 road record in 09, the most road wins in a single season since posting six wins in The Cardinals have posted a record against NFC West opponents under Whisenhunt. Led the Cardinals to the NFC West title in 2008, their first division title since Led the Cardinals to their first-ever Super Bowl appearance in 2008 and more wins in a single season (12) than any coach in franchise history. The Cardinals win over the Atlanta Falcons in the 2008 Wild Card Game was the first home playoff victory in 61 years. With the win over Seattle in the 2008 regular season finale, the Cardinals finished the 2008 regular season with a 9-7 record, matching their best regular season record since the franchise moved to Arizona in With the Cardinals win over Denver in week 14 of 10 at University of Phoenix Stadium, the team improved to 7-1 at home against teams from the AFC. In 2008, the Cards offense scored a franchise record 427 points and added 188 points in the playoffs, the third-highest total in NFL postseason history. Cardinals vs. Seahawks 6 of 40

Over the span of his first five NFL starts, was twice named NFC Offensive Player of the Week, winning for his Week 3 performance in 09 (vs. Kansas City) and his Week 6 performance in 2010 (vs. Atlanta). QB EXPERIENCE REQUIRED The Cardinals roster hosts three QBs Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, and Richard Bartel all of whom saw NFL regular season action in That is quite a change from last season, when the Cardinals had two rookie QBs (Skelton and Max Hall) start their first career game and a third (Bartel) who appeared in his first NFL game. The Cardinals were the only team in the NFL to have two rookie QBs start a game in 10, as both Skelton (fifth round, 155 th overall) and Hall (undrafted) started games under center. Skelton started the final four games of the season while Hall received the call in three games (5-7). When Skelton made his first career start (vs. Denver) it marked the first time since 1994 that a team has had two different rookie QBs start a game in a single season. In 94, Washington started both Heath Shuler and Gus Frerotte as rookies. Dating back to the 1970 NFL-AFL merger, and excluding the strike-shortened 1987 season, the Cardinals became the sixth team to start more than one rookie QB in a season. GOOD WHEN IT MATTERS QB Kevin Kolb has been at his best in the fourth quarter so far this season, completing 6 of 10 pass attempts for 205 yards, two TDs, no INTs and a passer rating of His fourth quarter passer rating is second in the NFL behind Green Bay s Aaron Rodgers (158.3). His 70-yard TD pass to WR Early Doucet in week one tied the game at 21 and his 73- yard TD pass to WR Larry Fitzgerald gave the Cardinals an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter last week. SCORING QUICKLY QB Kevin Kolb has led a Cardinals offense that, through the first two games, has shown quick strike ability. Three of Kolb s TD passes have come on either first or second down and the Cardinals join the Houston Texans as the only teams in the NFL with three quick strike scoring drives defined by Stats, Inc. as a drive of four plays or fewer. In addition to the three quick strike drives, the Cardinals also had a five-play drive that ended on a 70-yard TD pass to WR Early Doucet in week one. Cards Quick Strike Attack Arizona s six offensive scoring drives have averaged 4.0 plays, covered 64.5 yards and taken 1:56 off the clock. The average NFL scoring drive this season has consisted of 7.6 plays, covered 57.8 yards and taken 3:29 off the clock. With his 73-yard connection to WR Larry Fitzgerald in the fourth quarter last week, Kolb became the first Cardinals QB to throw a TD pass of 70+ yards in back-to-back games since Tom Tupa in Kolb also had a 21-yard TD strike to TE Jeff King against the Redskins last week and his four TD passes through the first two games have covered a total of 182 yards. He is averaging 45.5 yards per TD pass so far this season. FIRST ON FIRST The Cardinals are picking up big chunks of yardage on first down this season. The team has run 47 offensive plays on first down, totaling 388 yards for an average of 8.26 yards per play. Originally taken with the third overall selection in the 2004 NFL Draft, the eight-year agreement marks the third contract Fitzgerald has signed with the Cards and will keep him with the team at least through the 2018 season. Larry has been one of the most dynamic, if not the most dynamic, player in Cardinals history and one of the most dynamic in the NFL, team President Michael Bidwill said of his star WR. It has been an honor that he has been playing for us since we drafted him in the first round in He has been such a big part of our success. We are excited about what the future holds, not only for Larry and for the Cardinals, but also to see him retire as a Cardinal someday but hopefully not any time soon. I just want to thank the Bidwill family for how they have taken me in over the years, Fitzgerald said. I feel like I am one of the family. 9 GOOD FIT FOR A KING TE Jeff King has been quick to assimilate himself into the Cardinals lineup and has proved a potent weapon for QB Kevin Kolb and the Arizona offense. King had a standout game in week one vs. Carolina when he caught two passes for 61 yards, including a career-long 48- yard TD reception in the third quarter. The TD reception ranked as the longest by a Cardinals TE since Rob Awalt hauled in a 52-yard TD pass on 11/20/88 at Houston. Against the Washington Redskins last week, King hauled in a 21-yard TD pass in the first quarter that gave the Cardinals a 7-0 lead. Dating back to 2010 when he was with the Carolina Panthers, King has now caught a TD pass in three consecutive games, the longest streak of his career. With two TD receptions through the first two games, King is just one TD shy of tying his career single-season high of three TD receptions, established in Both of his TD receptions the 48-yarder vs. Carolina and the 21-yarder in Washington were longer than any of the nine TDs he had entering the 2011 season. As the first two games have showed, the Cards TEs provide big targets that can make plays downfield and provide addition options for QB Kevin Kolb. In the victory over the Panthers in week one, TEs Jeff King and Todd Heap combined to haul in four receptions for 101 yards and a TD. King led way with two receptions for 61 yards, including a 48-yard TD reception in the third quarter. The production continued last week against Washington, when the duo combined for three receptions, 44 yards and another TD. The TD was again courtesy of King, this one a 21-yard reception that opened the scoring and gave Arizona a 7-0 lead early. Through the first two games, King and Heap have combined to total seven receptions for 145 yards and two TDs. In 2010, Cards TEs combined to total 25 receptions for 210 yards and zero TDs on the season. I m glad to see the tight ends are getting an opportunity to catch the ball and be involved in our offense, head coach Ken Whisenhunt said of the performance of his TEs. I think that s going to help us and round out our offense. We re all very pleased with the tight end position. CONTINUING HIS CLIMB Now in his 11 th NFL season, TE Todd Heap has long been one of the league s top offensive weapons as his position. The Cards 2011 free agent acquisition played in his first game in an Arizona uniform in week one vs. Carolina and caught two passes for 40 yards. With his second catch, a 20-yarder in the 2 nd quarter, Heap passed Rich Caster (5,515) and moved into 15 th on the NFL s all-time receiving yardage list among TEs. 10 OFF AND RUNNING After a difficult 2010 campaign, RB Beanie Wells is showing that he is ready for a breakout season in In the first two weeks, Wells has totaled 32 carries for 183 yards (5.7 avg.) and two TDs. Making his fourth NFL start, Wells posted his second consecutive strong outing last week in Washington, totaling 14 attempts for 93 yards and a TD, averaging 6.6 yards per carry. His 93 rushing yards ranked as the second-best total of his career (110 yards at Detroit, 12/20/09). His 6.6 average was the best of his career (min. 10 carries) and he had a 25-yard run that ranked as the fourth-longest run of his career and longest since a career-best 33-yard burst at Detroit on 12/20/09. Wells was particularly impressive in the second half last week, when he carried the ball 11 times for 87 yards (7.9 avg.) and a TD. The 87 yards were the most ever in a single half for the third-year back. Last week s performance followed up an 18-carry, 90-yard outing in week one that included a seven-yard TD run in the first quarter. He also established a career-high with four receptions against the Panthers. Wells had a standout rookie season in 09 when he was named to the PFW/PFWA All-Rookie team after rushing for 793 yards and seven TDs on 176 carries (4.5 avg.). That total was good for second among NFL rookies in yards (Knowshon Moreno) and tied for first in TDs. In 2010, Wells was slowed by a number of injuries that limited his productivity, as he totaled 397 yards and two TDs on 116 carries. MOVING FORWARD The Cardinals rushing attack has been productive for the Cardinals through the first two games, piling up 4.8 yards per carry and a pair of TDs. One reason for the success is keeping defenders out of the backfield. No team has been harder to stop behind the line of scrimmage than the Cardinals this season. On running plays, Arizona has been tackled for a loss just once. The Cards one tackle behind the line of scrimmage gives the team a stuff percentage of just 2.5, the best in the NFL, according to Stats, Inc. NFL Rushing Leaders Stuff Percentage % Team Att TFL Yds 2.5 Arizona Tampa Bay Miami Kansas City Tennessee BIG POTENTIAL The Cardinals 2011 NFL draft provided the team with a number of talented young prospects and one of the players making an impact early-on is FB Anthony Sherman. When Arizona drafted Sherman in the fifth round out of the University of Connecticut, head coach Ken Whisenhunt called him one of the best special teams players in the country. In addition to his production on special teams, Sherman also earned the nod as the team s starting FB. Through the first two games, Sherman has helped block for a Cardinals rushing attack that has averaged 4.8 yards per carry, totaling 192 yards and two TDs on 40 attempts. He also has one reception for six yards. THE MULTI-TALENTED TAYLOR With the addition of RB Chester Taylor, the Cardinals have a running back who serves as a true utility man in the backfield. Now in his 10 th NFL season, Taylor has appeared in 140 games and has accumulated 1,141 rushing attempts for 4,663 yards and 25 TDs. In addition to his impressive credentials as a runner, Taylor is also one of the NFL s best at catching the ball out of the backfield. He has totaled 285 career receptions for 2,233 yards and six TDs. Entering the 2011 season, Taylor is one of just six active NFL running backs with 4,000+ rushing yards and 2,000+ receiving yards. His 89-yard return was one of eight return TDs in the NFL during opening weekend, establishing a new league record for a single week. 12 BY THE NUMBERS Cardinals record against the NFC West under head coach Ken Whisenhunt, including a 5-3 record against Seattle. 99 Receiving yards needed by WR Larry Fitzgerald to pass Roy Green (8,497) and become the franchise all-time leader in receiving yards. 66 Career TD receptions for Fitzgerald, tying him with Roy Green for the franchise record. 27 Career 100-yard receiving games for Fitzgerald after posting 133 yards last week in Washington, tying Anquan Boldin for the franchise record QB Kevin Kolb s passer rating through the first two games. That ranks as the fifth-best total in the NFL behind Matthew Stafford (112.0), Drew Brees (114.9), Aaron Rodgers (126.4) and Tom Brady (128.0) Average yards of Kolb s four TD passes this season, which have covered 182 yards Last time a Cardinals QB had multiple TD passes of 70+ yards in a single season (Tom Tupa), something Kolb accomplished this season (70 yards to WR Early Doucet, Week 1; 73 yards to WR Larry Fitzgerald, Week 2) Average yards per play on first down for the Cardinals this season, #1 in the NFL. 8 Blocked FG attempts for the Cardinals dating back to 2008, an NFL-high during that span. That total includes DE Calais Campbell s third career blocked FGA last week in Washington Punt return average for rookie CB Patrick Peterson in 2011 (4 returns, 128 yards), the best average in the NFL. 93 Rushing yards for RB Beanie Wells last week. Combined with his 90-yard performance in week one, it marks the first time in his career he has had 90+ yards in back-to-back games. 125 Receiving yards for WR Early Doucet on third down this season, an NFL-high. All five of his receptions have come on third down. 3 Consecutive games with a TD reception for TE Jeff King dating back to the 2010 season finale, a career-high Last time a Cardinals TE had multiple TD receptions of 20+ yards in single season (Chris Gedney), something King accomplished in the first two games in Receiving yards for Cardinals TEs Jeff King and Todd Heap in 2011, including two TDs. In 2010, Cardinals TEs combined for 210 yards and zero TDs on the season. 2 Consecutive games with a sack for FS Kerry Rhodes, giving him a sack in back-to-back games for the first time since 2006 (9/17 vs. NE and Buf). He now has multiple sacks in a season for the first time since WHAT TO LOOK FOR THIS WEEK With a win this week, the Cardinals will remain in at least a tie atop the NFC West with a 2-1 record. With a win this week, the Cardinals would improve to 6-3 against Seattle under head coach Ken Whisenhunt. WR Larry Fitzgerald With 99 receiving yards this week, Fitzgerald would pass Roy Green (8,497) and become the franchise all-time receiving yardage leader. Fitzgerald enters the game with 8,399 career receiving yards. With a TD reception this week, Fitzgerald would reach 67 career TD receptions and become the franchise all-time leader. With 99 receiving yards this week, Fitzgerald would also be off the best start of his career in terms of receiving yards. In 2008, Fitzgerald had 293 yards through three games and he enters this week s game with 195 yards. With 100 yards receiving this week, Fitzgerald would have 28 career 100-yard games and establish a new franchise record. QB Kevin Kolb With two TD passes this week, Kolb would have multiple TD passes in three consecutive games for the first time in his career. He enters the game needing three TD passes to tie his career single-season high (7, 2010). TE Jeff King With a TD reception this week, King would become the first Cardinals TE since Rob Awalt in 1987 to record a TD reception in three consecutive games. With a TD reception, King would have a TD reception in four consecutive games overall dating back to the final game of the 2010 season with Carolina. FS Kerry Rhodes With a sack this week, Rhodes would have a sack in three consecutive games for the first time in his career. It would also mark his fourth sack in the last eight games. TE Todd Heap With 16 receiving yards, Heap would pass Ben Coates (5,555) for 14 th place on the NFL s all-time receiving yardage list among TEs. ANOTHER BLOCK FOR THE CARDS With standouts such as K Jay Feely and return men LaRod Stephens-Howling and Patrick Peterson, one of the more overlooked aspects of the Cardinals special teams units is the team s ability to block kicks. Dating back to 2008, the Cardinals have blocked eight FG attempts, the most in the NFL over that period. In addition to leading the NFL in that category in 10, the Cards led the NFL in 09 as well, blocking three FG attempts each season. Arizona blocked the first FG of the 2011 season last week in Washington when DE Calais Campbell got a hand on Redskins K Graham Gano s 30-yard attempt late in the second quarter that kept Arizona within three points heading into halftime. Most Blocked FG Attempts (2008-present) Block Team 8 Arizona 6 Cleveland, Seattle 4 NY Giants Campbell s block last week was the third blocked FG attempt of his career and first since During the 09 season, Campbell blocked two FGAs, one at Jacksonville (9/20) and one vs. Houston (10/11). 13 WILSON DOES IT ALL Now in his 11 th NFL season, SS Adrian Wilson is the team s most tenured player and has been with Arizona since the team selected him in the third round (64 th overall) in the 2001 NFL Draft. In that time, Wilson has become one of the league s best safeties and most feared defenders. After missing all four preseason contests due to a torn biceps injury suffered early in training camp, Wilson has started both contests this season and posted eight tackles, two tackle for loss, an INT and two passes defensed. Wilson s accomplishments during his first 10 seasons include four Pro Bowl appearances and numerous NFL single-season records. One of the most significant is his inclusion on an exclusive list of NFL players who have recorded at least 20 INTs and 20 sacks in their career. In 2009, Wilson reached the career milestone, becoming just the 10 th player in NFL history with at least 20 sacks and 20 interceptions. With two sacks and two INTs in 2010, he added to those numbers. All-Time Players with 20 Sacks/20 INTs Player Sacks Ints S Adrian Wilson (AZ, 2001-current) CB Ronde Barber (TB, 1997-current) S LeRoy Butler (GB, ) S Brian Dawkins (Phi/Den, 1996-current) LB Donnie Edwards (KC/SD, ) S Rodney Harrison (SD/NE, ) LB Seth Joyner (Phi/Ari/GB/Den, ) LB Ray Lewis (Bal, 1996-current) LB Wilber Marshall (five teams, ) S Lawyer Milloy (NE/Buf/Atl/Sea, 1996-current) LB William Thomas (Phi/Oak, ) S Lawyer Milloy joined the list in 10, becoming the 11 th player to reach the milestone. In 2005, Wilson recorded 8.0 sacks, setting the NFL record for sacks by a defensive back since sacks became an official stat in In 2006, Wilson returned both an INT and a fumble 99 yards for a TD and in doing so, became the first player in NFL history to record two TDs of 99+ yards in the same season without the benefit of a kickoff return TD. TAKING OVER A GAME Wilson is one of the game s top defenders and can take over a game at any moment, as evidenced by his performance against the Rams in week one of the 2010 season. In that game, he recorded two INTs, a sack, and a blocked FG in the win over St. Louis, becoming the first NFL player to record an INT, sack and blocked FG in a game since Julius Peppers accomplished the feat on 11/28/04 vs. Tampa Bay. Wilson also became the first Cardinals player in history to record two INTs, a sack and a blocked FG in the same game. RHODES ENCORE IN AZ The 2010 season, FS Kerry Rhodes first in Arizona after being brought over in a trade from the NY Jets, was perhaps the best of his career and in 11 he is being counted on to provide the same big-play impact he did last year. Rhodes in 2010: Recorded a career-high 111 tackles and four fumble recoveries, adding a team-high four INTs, two tackles for loss, a sack and eight passes defensed. Only player in the NFL to record at least four INTs and four fumble recoveries in 10, becoming the first NFL player to accomplish the feat since 2004 (Donovin Darius, Jacksonville, 5 INTs, 4 FR). In back-to-back games SD and 10/10 vs. NO), returned fumbles for TDs, tying the NFL record for fumbles returned for TDs in a season and becoming just the 36 th player in NFL history to accomplish the feat. Became the first Cardinals player to do so since 1957 (Leo Sugar). Piled up 174 return yards on his four INTs, the secondhighest total in the NFL behind Baltimore s Ed Reed (183). Through the first two games this season, Rhodes is leading the Cardinals with 16 tackles and two sacks. Last week against the Redskins, Rhodes totaled a team-high eight tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss and a pass defensed. His first quarter sack of QB Rex Grossman gave him a sack in back-to-back games for the first time since 2006 (9/17 vs. NE and Buf) and he now has multiple sacks in a season for the first time since SAFETY SACK LEADERS Dating back to 2005, no safeties in the NFL have more sacks than Adrian Wilson and Kerry Rhodes. Wilson easily leads the category with 19.5 sacks over that period but it is Rhodes who is making the biggest move in His sack of QB Rex Grossman last week was his second of the season and 12 th of his career, tying him with New Orleans S Yeremiah Bell for second place. Leading the way in that category are a trio of defensive backs who have showed up frequently in the backfield: CB Richard Marshall, FS Kerry Rhodes and SS Adrian Wilson, each with two tackles for loss. In addition to two tackles for loss, Rhodes leads the team with two sacks while Marshall has one. Overall, the Cardinals have five sacks through the first two games. Cardinals vs. Seahawks 13 of 40

14 NOBODY BETTER All-Pro DT Darnell Dockett had another standout season for the Cardinals in 2010, recording 51 tackles, five sacks, eight tackles for loss, a pass defensed, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, five QB pressures and 11 QB hits. For his efforts, Dockett earned his third career trip to the Pro Bowl (2007, 09), becoming the first defensive lineman in franchise history to appear in three Pro Bowls. Dating back to 2004, no player at his position has appeared in more games (113) than Dockett. He has started 112 of 113 career games and has missed just one contest in his first seven-plus seasons. Dockett has led the NFL in sacks among DTs twice in his career, recording 9.0 sacks in 2007 and 7.0 sacks in Since 2007, Dockett is among the league leaders in many categories at the defensive tackle position. Below is a look at Dockett s sack total since then compared to some of the more well-known defenders at the position. DT Sack Comparison 2007 to Present Player Sacks Yds Darnell Dockett (AZ) Albert Haynesworth (NE) Richard Seymour (Oak) Fred Robbins (StL) Kevin Williams (Min) Dockett earned his third career trip to the Pro Bowl in 2010, becoming the first defensive lineman in franchise history to earn three Pro Bowl appearances. He also garnered Pro Bowl nods in 2007 and 09 after leading all NFL interior linemen in sacks. With 31.0 career sacks, Dockett ranks ninth on the Cardinals career sacks list, needing seven sacks to move past David Galloway (37.0) and Al Baker (37.5) into seventh place. During the 2011 offseason, the former Miami Hurricane star interned with actor/comedian Will Ferrell at his website FunnyorDie.com. On the field, Campbell s play is no laughing matter, as the fourth-year pro is on of verge of becoming one of the NFL s best young defenders, and a household name for his play on the gridiron. In 2009, his first season as a starter, Campbell tied for the team lead with 7.0 sacks and was named to 09 USA Today All-Joe team as a DE. In 2010, Campbell again led the Cardinals in sacks, posting six on the season while also establishing a career high with 64 tackles, nine tackles for loss, seven QBs hit, six QB pressures, two passes defensed and his first career fumble recovery. COMING UP ON 100 LB Joey Porter entered the 2011 season needing just three sacks to join the ranks of NFL defensemen that have reached 100 career sacks. Since sacks became an official stat in 1982, only 25 players have recorded 100+ sacks in their career. Porter will be looking to become the 26 th. Below is a list of players with 100+ sacks since it became an official statistic. All three are in the Hall of Fame. STRONG START IN YEAR TWO Second-year LB Daryl Washington entered the 2011 season with a bang in week one vs. the Carolina Panthers. One of the emerging stars on a Cardinals defense loaded with young talent, Washington posted six tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, a QB hit and a crucial INT, the second of his career. Trailing 14-7 in the third quarter, Washington intercepted a Cam Newton pass in Cardinals territory. On the very next play from scrimmage, QB Kevin Kolb hit TE Jeff King for a 48-yard TD pass that tied the game. Washington also had a second quarter INT of Newton called back due to an erroneous roughing the passer penalty on CB Richard Marshall and added a special teams tackle. Washington missed the week two contest due to an injured calf suffered in the Carolina game. It marked the first missed game of his two-year career. Washington flashed his potential for the Cardinals in 2010 when he became the first rookie defender to start the season opener in the Ken Whisenhunt era. He went on to start 11 of 16 games played, recording 77 tackles, a sack, two passes defensed, an INT and a forced fumble. Despite missing last week s game, all signs point to Washington emerging as one of the top young LBs in the game and a breakout star for the Cardinals. Cardinals vs. Seahawks 14 of 40

15 AN EXPERIENCED ADDITION LB Stewart Bradley was a key veteran signing during the offseason, a player who brings starting experience and adds flexibility at LB for the Cards. During his four seasons with the Eagles, Bradley appeared in 44 games (29 starts) and totaled 259 tackles (155 solos) with three sacks, three INTs, one fumble recovery and 17 special teams tackles. After being selected in the third round (87 th overall) in 07, Bradley became the first player in Eagles franchise history to register his first career sack and first career INT (QB Drew Brees) in his first career start (@ New Orleans, 12/23/07). The following season, he established a career-high with 151 tackles during the 08 season and was named to Peter King s (SI.com) All-Pro team at MLB. After missing the 09 season with a knee injury, he returned to the starting lineup in 10, starting all 12 games he appeared in, ranking second on the team with 88 tackles, adding a sack and an INT. THE VETERAN NEWCOMERS LB Stewart Bradley: After missing the 2009 season with a torn ACL, came back to start 12 games for Philadelphia and recorded 88 tackles in Has appeared in both games for the Cardinals this season and saw significant action last week with LB Daryl Washington out due to injury. Posted seven tackles against the Redskins. G Daryn Colledge: Durable lineman has played in 82 consecutive regular season games since entering the NFL. Started all four postseason games for the Packers in 2010 on the way to their Super Bowl XLV victory. Has started both contests this season with Arizona and has helped block for a rushing attack that has averaged 4.8 yards per carry. DE Nick Eason: In four seasons in Pittsburgh, was part of two AFC Championship teams and the Super Bowl XLIII champion squad. Has appeared in both games this season, including a start last week in Washington. TE Todd Heap: Two-time Pro Bowler with the Ravens ranks among the top five in active NFL tight ends in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. A native of Mesa, AZ, who played college football at Arizona State. Has three receptions for 48 yards with the Cardinals so far this season. DE Vonnie Holliday: 14-year veteran acquired in a trade with Washington. Ranks 15 th among active players with 62.5 career sacks. Has also played for Green Bay, Kansas City, Miami and Denver. Totaled two tackles and a pass defensed last week against the Redskins. TE Jeff King: Blocking TE who has played in all 65 regular season dating back to Had career-best 46 catches for 406 yards in Enjoying a breakout season on offense with the Cards, with two TDs through the first two games. QB Kevin Kolb: Became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 300 yards in each of his first two career starts in Signed a new contract thought the 2016 season after being acquired in a trade with Philadelphia. CB Richard Marshall: Recorded 75 or more tackles in each of his first five NFL seasons with the Panthers. Has 15 career interceptions, including his first of the 2011 season last week in Washington. WR Chansi Stuckey: Traded to the Browns in 2009 as part of deal that sent Braylon Edwards to the Jets. Had career-high 40 receptions while playing all 16 games in RB Chester Taylor: Now in his 10 th NFL season, Taylor has totaled 1,140 carries for 4,663 yards and 25 TDs while adding 285 receptions for 2,233 yards and six TDs during his nine seasons, playing with the Ravens, Vikings and Bears. Appeared in his first game for the Cardinals last week and had one carry. QUIETLY LEADING THE WAY Known for his quiet, low-key presence off the field, LB Paris Lenon has done plenty of talking on the gridiron since joining the Cardinals as a free agent in During his first season in Arizona, Lenon started all 16 games and recorded a team-high 127 tackles, also leading the way with 12 tackles for loss. He established career-highs with two INTs on the season (which matched the total of his previous 127 career games) and also tied a career-high with two sacks. The 10 th -year vet impressed his teammates on the field enough that he was named a team captain in 2011 and he has lived up to the billing through the first two games. Lenon led the way with eight tackles, a half-sack and a QB pressure in week one and added seven tackles and a pass defensed last week in Washington despite leaving the field briefly due to injury. A GOOD MIX The Cardinals defense is littered with promising young talent and the nose tackle position is one of the deepest. The Cards will benefit this season as second-year pro (2010 first round pick) Dan Williams and 2011 sixthround pick David Carter battle for playing time. Williams appeared in 15 games for Arizona as a rookie in 10 and came on strong during the second half of the season, totaling 33 tackles over the final 10 games. He entered the 2011 season as the starter and has played well in the first two games, posting five tackles, a pass defensed and a tackle for loss. Carter finds himself in the mix after becoming one of the top storylines of the offseason with his impressive preseason showing. Despite the lack of mini-camps and OTAs to acclimate himself into the defense, the 6-5, 300- pounder out of UCLA wasted no time in making an impression. He has seen action in both games this season and despite limited playing time, has posted two tackles and a tackle for loss through the first two games. ALL SIX PICKS SEE ACTION Two games into the 2011 season, all six of the Cardinals 11 draft picks on the roster have appeared in a game: CB Patrick Peterson-(1 st round, 5 th overall) Has started both games at CB and returned a punt 89 yards for the game-winning TD in week one vs. Carolina. His 32.0 punt return average is the best in the NFL. TE Rob Housler-(3 rd round, 69 th overall) Has appeared on special teams in each of the first two games and saw action on offense last week in Washington. LB Sam Acho-(4 th round, 103 rd overall) Logged time on both defense and on special teams in each of the first two games. 18 Game 1 CARDINALS 28, Panthers 21 September 11, 2011 University of Phoenix Stadium (60,627) Playing on the on the 10 th anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy, the Cards opened the NFL season at home against the Panthers, who had beaten them in 7 straight regular season contests. QB Kevin Kolb made his Cardinal debut while counterpart Cam Newton, the top player selected in the 11 draft, was seeing his first NFL action. Both signal-callers were excellent. Kolb completed 18 of 27 passes for 309 yards with 2 TDs and no INTs (130.0 passer rating); it was his 4 th 300-yard game in 8 career starts. Newton set an NFL record for most yards (422) by a QB in his first game. But in a contest with 3 scoring plays of 70+ yards, the Cards escaped with the win by stopping the Panthers a yard short in the game s closing moments. In the first quarter, the Cards moved 54 yards in 6 plays and capped their first offensive drive of the season with a 7-yard Beanie Wells TD run. On the 3 rd play of the next series, the Panthers faced a 3 rd -n-7 from their own 23 when Newton connected with a wide-open Steve Smith down the left sideline for a 77-yard game-tying score. The teams traded punts on the next four drives but midway through the 2 nd quarter and with the game still tied at 7, the Cards had advanced to the Carolina 4. However, Wells fumbled a pitch and LB Thomas Davis recovered to end the threat. After a Panthers 3-n-out, the Cards again marched deep into Panther territory but a crack-back penalty on Andre Roberts backed them from the 5 to the 15 and Jay Feely missed a 36-yard FG with 1:03 left before halftime. AZ appeared to end the ensuing Panther drive when Daryl Washington INT d Newton but it was negated by to a roughing the passer call. Carolina capitalized on the 2 nd chance when Smith caught a 26-yard TD pass from Newton with 0:06 left in the half for a 14-7 lead. On the first Panther drive after intermission, Washington again INT d Newton and this time it held up, giving AZ the ball the Carolina 48. On the next snap, Kolb hit a wide-open Jeff King and the former Panthers TE raced 48 yards to tie the game at 14. Carolina answered with an 8-play, 80-yard drive that the rookie QB ended with a 1-yard TD leap. Early in the 4 th, the Cards were down and backed up to their own 10. Facing a 3 rd -n-7 at the AZ 30, the Panthers brought a blitz but Kolb found Early Doucet who broke a tackle before completing the 70-yard pass play to tie the game at 21. Carolina s next drive crossed midfield before the AZ defense forced a punt. Cards rookie CB Patrick Peterson - taken 4 picks after Newton the previous April - fielded Jason Baker s boot at the AZ 11 and burst 89 yards for the go-ahead score. A Carolina punt ended the next drive that had advanced to just the Panther 36. After the Cards took 2:30 off the clock, the Panthers took over at their own 17 with 2:20 left and one timeout. Newton moved the offense deep into AZ territory and with 1:19 left they faced a 4 th -n-5 from the 6. He connected across the middle to RB Mike Goodson but Cards LB Paris Lenon tackled him a yard shy of the marker to seal the season-opening win. PANTHERS CARDINALS Team Qtr. They moved 80 yards in 6 play thanks to a 33-yard catch-n-run from rookie RB Roy Helu and a 20-yard run by ex- Cardinal Tim Hightower. On the play, Fitzgerald tied Roy Green for most TD catches in team history (66) and also tied Anquan Boldin for the franchise record for most 100- yard receiving games (29). On Arizona s next play from scrimmage, Kolb hit WR Chansi Stuckey on a 12-yard pass up the middle but he fumbled going to the ground and Washington recovered to seal the win.
