2 ANDY S SLAP SHOT See Brian s happy recap of the Buffalo Tournament in this edition of the newsletter We have a split practice on Saturday and Level Up training at 12:30. Team photo is scheduled for November 17 th between the junior and senior practice. Wear your new retro jersey if you received one. We have an away game scheduled on Sunday vs. the Leigh Valley Polar Bears at 3:30. The rink is located at th Street, Whitehall, PA. Our game is in the back building of the complex. Check out our new team store. Go to our website for great new choices. The store closed on November 11 th. Any orders placed today and forward will not be delivered in time for the holidays. Kathy Kientz will chair the holiday party this year on December 22 nd. If you re interested in helping out, please see her at practice. If you haven t reviewed the code of conduct with your player please do so in the next few weeks as we will be implementing this policy immediately. Please return a copy of the code with your/players signatures. I will have copies of the code of conduct at practice on Saturday. If you haven t paid your registration fee please do so at practice. Fees for this season remain at $200 per player payable to the NJ Dare Devils and an addition fee of $50 to USA Hockey. USA Hockey Link - When you receive your USA Hockey number please send it to me. REPORTER, BRIAN GRIFFIN Star Date 11-9,10,11, 2018 Destination, Buffalo, NY. Once again that fearless band of merry travelers loaded up their family trucksters and shuffled on off to Buffalo, NY.

3 REPORTER, BRIAN GRIFFIN Star Date 11-9,10,11, 2018 Destination, Buffalo, NY. Once again that fearless band of merry travelers loaded up their family trucksters and shuffled on off to Buffalo, NY. Most of the group headed out Friday morning and afternoon with a few bringing up the rear that evening. The weather called for showers but a few miles north of Elmira, things got a bit dicey. Near freezing temperatures, rain-sleet-snow-oh My! We passed about 6 cars that had spun out into the median, thankfully none seem to be injured. I heard a rumor that the cause of the spinouts was the powerful Jet-Wash coming from Coach Mario's Star Cruiser, however, Coach Mario told me he backed off his speed from his usual 85 miles per hour throttled down to 80 mph for safety reasons. Thanks Coach! Once most had arrived (all safely but for some white knuckles) the kids found the M room, a magical land loaded with free snacks. The parents found the bar. I could tell both were quite content. After some chow, more snacks and more adult beverages, we all bid goodnight to get ready for the 3 games that lay ahead. Game #1 would commence at 9:15 AM against the Home team the Buffalo Sabres Thunder. We had 19 players total, so we had a nice bench. Steven Jesus Niemann would open the scoring with a holy assist from brother Michael Jerry Newman. Newman had a heck of a game zipping up and down the ice faster than a mail truck fueled with Nitro. Will Twinkle toes -NASCAR Milazzo netted two goals. Will never disappoints, as his after-goal celebrations are the best in the business. Andy Asch, after a 9-hour train ride deposited a sweet goal. Glaab and Griffin would also net one each. Vince Racamato had couple of assists, then got knocked on his arse by a Sabres player. Vince didn't miss a beat, got right back up and joined the play. Vince would be a fierce competitor all weekend. Sam Ciemiecki with her stick down and in the correct position nearly deflected one in. You could tell she was on her game and maybe today she would find the back of the net. Andrew DePiero had a breakaway down the right boards, but his shot went just wide. The defense was stellar with Patrick Thomas, Nick Ritter and Matt Donnelly holding most of the blue line work. Matty Brighton was Brodeurian in net! I was very proud to also see the sportsmanship exhibited by our players towards their smaller less skilled kids. Well-done Boys. Final score, Daredevils 6, Sabres 4. We took a break for lunch, some went to the team lunch at Coca-Cola Field, others were forced to go shopping, I mean went willingly with their respective spouses. With the weather in the low 30's and the wind blowing at 35 miles per hour, the Rink felt rather balmy.

4 Game #2 was against our old friends the Rochester Ice Cats. Kickoff time was 3:30 PM. Carlo Tomasio would open the scoring early netting a beaut eh! Andy Asch would plunk in a nice goal with an assist from Griffin. Griffin would then send a blazing bullet pass to Sam Ciemiecki in front of the net which Sam gobbled up faster than a hobo at Thanksgiving Dinner, Sam sent a wicked wrister short side, SCORE!!! Way to go Sam! DePiero got in the game too after he was done directing traffic and took a pass from Danny Giger and sent one home, nice goal Andrew and great assist Danny! Donna DePiero was seen crying in the stands after Andrew's goal, but gave us some crazy excuse about eyelash glue. You can't fool us Donna! Matt Donnelly, Will Milazzo and Steven Niemann-Newman scored 1 each. Tristan Schwarz, Ryan Kientz and Chris Connolly skated well and deserve a hearty pat on the back for their hard work out there. Ryan Kientz's production was off a bit since his hat-trick in a previous outing, however he did hit the Hat-Trick of snacks in the M Room. Yum Yum! Madison Mitchell had a few good touches but I think she was distracted, thinking way too much about shopping and how to spend Randy's money. Madison worked hard and came off the ice in a ball of sweat, great to see her working hard out there. Speaking of the Mitchells, Coach Myles did a great job on the bench and you could see his Chalk-Talk at practices already paying off. The kids were working the points, moving the puck to the correct areas of the ice. By the way, rumor has it Myles is being groomed for the next head coaching job when Coach Ritter retires in 30 years. Keep up the good work Myles. Final score, Daredevils 7, Ice Cats 4. After dinner, more snacks and more adult libations, the crew headed off for slumber to get ready for game 3. Game #3 was against the Cleveland Rocking Wildcats commencing at 9 AM Sunday. The Wildcats were short benched so our Coaches gave them some of our players to even out not only the numbers but the talent as well, and it worked out great matching the lines talent wise. Steven Niemann-Newman and Michael Newman-Niemann opened the scoring for Cleveland. There were some great toe-to-toe defensive battles for the puck too. Racamato and Griffin scored for the Daredevils. It was a seesaw battle all the way; some bruised bodies would ensue in this heated contest. Steven Niemann-Newman would tally another, a couple of the Cleveland players scored thereafter. Griffin and Tomasio scored late with Racamato getting another goal too. However, the Daredevil squad fell just short 6-5. It was a great game. Congrats to all the players who made the trek to Buffalo. A special thanks to our host the Sabres Thunder. A VERY special thanks to Coach Ritter, Coach Mario and Coach Myles for taking great care of our kids on and off the bench. Remember to thank Andy Piccirillo and Angie Donnelly for all they do, they are the cogs that drive our great organization. Buffalo, over and out.
