This led to them sending a boy s rink and a girl s rink to Sundyberg Ice Rink in Stockholm to compete in the Bill Ross Trophy, which is part of the new Nordic Junior Curling Tour. 6 CLUB NOTES RE SEASON 2017/18 Ice Bookings & Allocations: We will be sending out our ice booking pack before the end of April, All ice booking requests should be returned to us fully complete by 31 st May, We will then issue our ice allocations pack by 31st July, 2017 with any errors, omissions or corrections notified back to us by 31 st August, 2017 for consideration and amendment where necessary. Ice Fees: Season was another difficult season financially for the curling centre with increased utility costs arising mainly from the mild weather conditions. Despite the increased ice management costs and a slight fall in ice bookings there will be no increase in ice fees for season Our fees will therefore be held at: - Hold the FCCC Individual Membership at 2.00 per member. Daytime ice sessions at 8.00 per person per session Weekend ice session times at 11 per person per session Prime Time ice session times (Monday to Friday evenings) 12 per person per session. FCCC Junior Ice Discount for all sessions 3.00 Practice Ice remaining at 5.00 per person Pairs ice remains at 50% of normal session cost. Virtual Club ice session 9 per person. Cancellation Ice Policy: Our ice cancellation policy for season 2017/18 is as previously intimated: - Cancellations made at least 2 weeks prior to the date the game(s) is due to be played will not be invoiced if the game is re-scheduled within 7 days from the date of cancellation. If not re-arranged within 7 days, the game(s) will be charged for and invoiced accordingly. Cancellations made within 2 weeks of the game(s) being played will be charged and invoiced accordingly. Competitions: We are looking to establish a number of new competitions in the new season and build on the success of several of our more established competitions. Agricar Leagues: The split of the Agricar Leagues and automatic entry into the FCCC Knockout competition has been a resounding success and something we would like to keep building on. With interest being shown from a number of new clubs keen to enter the Agricar League we would ideally like to increase this to 3 leagues with 10 teams in Division 1 & Division 2 and 8 teams in Division 3. This opens the door for clubs to enter more than one team perhaps with a stronger team in Division 1 and a developing team in Division 3.
7 Super Leagues: On a similar note we welcome entries from rinks interested in competing in our Super Leagues. Several new rinks have indicated an interest in competing in our super leagues and if sufficient interest is generated we can look towards the creation of a 3 rd Division. Over 50 s League: Another successful season for the Over 50 s League which is played on Friday afternoons however more entries are always welcome for this league. Taking the lead from the Agricar Leagues all teams entered in the Over 50 s league are automatically entered into the Over 50 s Knockout Competition to be played on prime time ice. The over 50 s knockout is open to any team of curlers aged over 50 at the start of the season whether competing in the Over 50 s league or not. Canadian Swing & Sweep: 20 th to 22 nd October, 2017 Following last season s success, we are delighted to be welcoming a group of Canadian curlers back to Forfar Curling Centre. They are coming to visit Scotland for a week to curl & golf. Their vacation will commence with a curling bonspiel played from Friday through to Sunday and then they will depart to play golf on many of our fine local courses. The weekend of curling will involve a bonspiel to which local rinks are invited to enter to play against our Canadian friends and join in the social aspects of the weekend which will include a curlers make on the Saturday night amongst other social events. We want to ensure this new competition builds on the first-year success and it becomes a regular annual event in our curling calendar. The FCCC Charity Bonspiel: Saturday 3 rd February, 2018 To allow us to build on the success of our fund-raising efforts the committee have decided every club that curls at Forfar Curling Centre will be automatically entered into the FCCC Charity Bonspiel with a minimum of one rink representing their club in the draw. If you object to this, please let us know. Alongside these notable competitions, we are also looking to establish the following events at some point during the season and we would appreciate any comments or thoughts in this regard: - Mixed Doubles Competition or League Mixed Rink Knockout or League Singles Competition Existing Competitions Forfar Ladies Centre & FCCC are keen to attract new entries into the Ladies Friendship League played on the occasional Friday afternoon and the Ladies Evening League. These are great opportunities for Ladies to enjoy competing against each other in a friendly yet competitive manner. Forfar Curling Centre Club Annual General Meeting: Thursday 21st September, 2017 Please make a note for your diary. The FCCC Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 21 st September, 2017 at 7pm.
8 The Executive Committee currently consists of the following: - President: Adrian White (Fothringham CC) Vice President: Neil Smith (Forfar CC) Junior Vice-President: Ian Young (Forfar Young Curlers) Immediate Past President: Ron Caithness (Edzell CC) Secretary: Rob Inglis (Edzell CC) Treasurer: Forfar Indoor Sports 4 representatives from member curling clubs The RCCC Area 9 Representative The RCCC Forfar Ladies Centre Representative 1 representative from each of the 3 Provinces ie Angus Province, North & South Esk Province & Dundee & Dist Province. 1 representative from Forfar Young Curlers The FCCC Coaching & Development Chairperson (currently Ian Young, Suttieside CC) We welcome nominations from member clubs for anyone interested in assisting the committee. Thank you We would like to thank our team of coaches, extremely able organised by Lorraine Campbell (Dun CC), all of whom have had a busy season encourage new curlers on to the ice and assisting others to develop their game. Thanks also to Andy McGlyn (Forfar CC) for looking after the Monday morning coaching sessions and Rob Inglis (Edzell CC) for looking after the Thursday morning Hat games. Forfar Ladies section have had a very successful season attracting new entries to their competitions through the leadership of Shirley Jeans (Panmure CC) who deserves much praise for her successful term in office. Finally, thanks go to Ian Taylor and all at involved with Forfar Young Curlers for again looking after the younger element of the sport at Forfar Curling Centre. With so many successes around the country FYC can be rightfully proud of their efforts. Finally, finally I am sure you will join with me in thanking all the FIS staff including the ice, bar & catering teams for their hard work and support throughout the season. Other Matters: Forfar Music Fest 2017: 24 th June, 2017: Following on from last year s terrific success FIS is again participating in the Forfar Music Fest on Saturday 24 th June, 2017 with live music, entertainment, food, etc and we invite clubs to set up a fund-raising stall to help raise funds for your club.
