2 2017 Voyageur Summer Skill Development This program is designed for individual skill development, and is focused towards proper edgework, power skating, and read and reaction hockey habits. Developed from Czech hockey legend Ludek Bukac, this innovative training method has proven to work at all levels of hockey, from Introduction to Professional. Sessions will be coached by J.P. Coppo, Mason Baptista and other college level coaches and players. Below is the method of the Bukac Camps. Please review. The Bukač Hockey School is the longest running school in the Czech republik. The school was founded on the concept of developing individual technique and technical skills. Since 1991 the focus has been and will continue to be to provide leading edge, top quality hockey instruction in a positive, supportive environment combining to make an enjoyable camp experience. Our goal is to treat each player as an individual and to encourage the development and refinement of their potential hockey skills. Therefore we developed VGT training. The Variable Goals Training Model - VGT - Create Game-like Conditions and Competitive Challenge. For the last 10 years now we have been perfecting a new and innovative way to challenge young hockey players to stimulate their read and reaction skills and puck handling creativity under authentic game-like conditions. The weekly sessions will be on Mondays and Tuesdays (All at Cornerstone Community Center). Teams, Times, and Dates are below. Price per skater is $250.00, this gives you 14 sessions. Price per Goalie is $35.00, and gives you all sessions. *Goalies are needed at every age level. We are looking for 4 goalies per session. If you have any questions whether or not your child can play goalie in multiple sessions please feel free to ask via at coachjpcoppo@gmail.com I. Mites Mondays from 5:30 6:20 PM Session Limit is 35 Skaters II. Squirts Mondays from 6:30 7:35 PM Session Limit is 35 Skaters III. Pewees Mondays from 7:45 8:50 PM Session Limit is 35 Skaters IV. Bantams Tuesdays from 7:00 8:05 PM Session Limit is 35 Skaters V. High School Tuesdays from 8:15 9:20 PM Session Limit is 35 Skaters *There will be no Hockey on May 29, May 30, June 19, June 20, July 4, or September 4 Sessions will start on May 22 nd for the Mites, Squirts, and Pewees and be completed September 11. Sessions will start on May 23 rd for the Bantams and High School and be completed September 12. (May 23 - Start times are 7:30pm 8:35pm for Bantams and 8:45pm 9:50pm for High School.) Watch the DPYH website for registration information. Registration for Summer Skill Development will be open to DPYH association members first for one week before this opportunity is opened up to others. There will be a limit of 30 skaters per level.

3 March Meltdown Hopefully by now your players have their team names picked out and jerseys created for the 3-on-3 tournament Saturday March 18, 2017 from 10:00am-5:00pm. Tournament Rules Tournament Bracket The Closing Ceremony will begin shortly after the conclusion of the 3-on-3 tournament. Each team will skate out to show off their accomplishments for the year. Players who earned hat trick, playmaker and shut-out patches throughout the season will receive them at this time. First place trophies from the 3-on-3 tournament will also be awarded. Following the Closing Ceremony we will serve a Deluxe Taco and Nacho Buffet on the 2nd floor of the ice arena. During dinner, you can enjoy the De Pere Deacons last regular season game against Eagle River at 7:30pm. The Deacons have graciously invited us to attend this game at no charge. Canned beer will be available for purchase from the Deacons. Are you interested in a position on the De Pere Youth Hockey Board? The term of Vice President, Treasurer and Equipment Manager positions are ending and up for election at this year s Annual Meeting. If you are interested in nominating yourself or someone else contact DPYH secretary Matt Smith. Hockey Moms Night Out at Palette and Pub Annual Meeting When: April 4, :00pm Where: Upstairs at the De Pere Ice Arena What: The Annual Meeting is for all members of the De Pere Youth Hockey Association. Nominations for candidates for open board positions are cut off and then voted on. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

4 TEAM HIGHLIGHTS HIP SUBMITTED BY NIKKI SMITH It has been a learning experience for our HIP players. They have been mastering their hockey skills. They are looking forward to playing next year. MITES SUBMITTED BY HILARY O BRIEN The Mites have been busy! We had an awesome month of hockey! All levels travelled to Merrill for a fun weekend of hockey. Along with a 1st place finish for the Reds, we also won the team relay races and shoot out contests at all levels! The Whites and Blues had a great time skating at the SNC game and the Reds had a blast skating at the Gambler game! Earlier this month we had a great time at the Chaos at Cornerstone tournament. The Blues finished in 2nd place! Our White teams took home a 1st and 2nd place trophy and our Reds placed 2nd! It doesn't get much better than that! We are looking forward to our end of the season Mite Movie party at the De Pere Cinema! We have also been busy coming up with our 3 on 3 team names and jerseys for March Meltdown. It has been a great season for the Mites!

5 More Mites Squirt C - submitted BY LISA BARTELT WOW! What a way to end the season! The Squirt C s traveled to a tournament in Wisconsin Dells followed by a trip to West Bend for the State Championship. Congratulations to our Squirt C s for a job well done and representing the De Pere Voyageurs at the state championship bringing home hardware for a third place finish! Wisconsin Dells proved to be a lot of fun on and off the ice. On the ice, the team competed very well with our first game ending in a 1-1 tie against Black River Falls. The tying goal hit the scoreboard with 7.9 seconds left in the third period! Whew that is what you call a buzzer beater! In their second game the team faced great competition with Eastview Lightening (Apple Valley, MN) with the game resulting in another tie, this time 5-5. Unfortunately, the two ties and a third game loss against the Dubuque Fighting Saints did not allow them to advance to the championship game. But, they left feeling proud of how well they skated all weekend and happy with the fun memories made at the Kalahari waterpark and bowling alley. The season was full of a lot of firsts for the team. First full ice games were played, first goals were made, and now a first trip to the state championship. They started the weekend facing New Richmond. Anticipation and excitement levels were high. Once the nerves calmed and the team settled in, they executed their game plan and scored a 7-3 win! Game two had De Pere facing Washington County (eventual tournament champions). De Pere jumped out to a one goal lead but the game saw two evenly matched teams see-saw back and forth the entire game. Spirits were high with a 3-2 lead at the end of the second period but Washington County was able to keep the pressure on scoring two goals in the third winning the game 4-3. De Pere moved on to face McFarland in their final matchup playing for third place. A first shift goal started the game with a 1-0 lead. From that moment on, the team never looked back and dominated to bring home a 9-0 win with a shot count of A special shout out to Finn Plaza for earning his first shutout! Also, congratulations to Kallen Mihm and Jackson Bongers for earning a hat trick and to an awesome all team effort for a job well done! Thank you to our coaches Andy and Bob, assistant coaches Isaiah and Gio, and all of our wonderful parents and families for their time and support throughout the entire season. These boys have made amazing progress and should be proud of their accomplishments!

7 SQUIRT B- SUBMITTED BY ADAM BURDSALL The Squirt Bs continued to show improvement, even though it did not pay off in a victory in 5-1 and 3-1 losses at Shaw on Feb. 11. In the opener, Connor Hutjens scored off an assist from Jackson Chandler for De Pere. Ben VanEnkenvoort stopped 21 shots in the loss. Game 2 saw the Voyageurs with a host of scoring chances in the first two periods, but could not cash in and trailed 1-0. Shaw went up 2-0 before Logan Dewsnap scored off an assist from Owen Zunker to bring De Pere within 2-1. The Voyageurs could not get the equalizer and Shaw added a late goal to take the 3-1 win. VanEnkenvoort had 13 saves in the loss. On Feb. 17, the Voyageurs got a pair of goals from Jackson Chandler, but it was not enough in a 4-2 loss to visiting Fox Valley at De Pere Ice Arena. After falling behind 1-0, Chandler tied it up off an assist from Hutjens to tie it after the first period. Fox Valley scored the lone goal of the second period. Still trailing 2-1 in the third, De Pere pulled goaltender Dominic Allen for an extra attacker and Fox Valley scored to go up 3-1. Chandler gave De Pere hope, scoring with 20 seconds to play, but Fox Valley scored another empty net goal to close it out. Allen made 15 saves in the loss which saw the Voyageurs hold a advantage in shots on goal. On Feb , De Pere took a four-game trip to Escanaba, Mich., coming away with a 1-3 record. The Voyageurs opened with a 3-1 loss to Escanaba s Northern Orthodics and Prosthetics team. The lone goal of the game came from Nolan Burdsall off an assist by Jackson Chandler. The second game saw the Voyageurs pick up a much-needed 3-1 victory. Escanaba scored 15 seconds into the game, but Van Enkenvoort would shut them out the rest of the way. Josh Porod scored off a Brett Weckworth assist to even it at 1-1 before the teams played a scoreless second period. Porod set up Chandler for a goal 23 seconds into the third to put De Pere in front. Chandler and Porod then were credited assists on Hutjens goal just 25 seconds later and the Voyageurs went on to the 3-1 win. Sunday s games did not go as well for De Pere in 12-3 and 8-1 losses to Escanaba s Bink s Coca Cola. Zunkwer, Hutjens and Porod scored in the opener while Weckworth had an assist and Allen made 17 saves in the loss. Game 2 saw Van Enkenvoot make 42 saves while Porod scored off assists from Chandler and Burdsall in defeat. De Pere closed out its season on a high note March 4, tying West Bend 3-3 before ending the year with a 3-2 come-frombehind victory over the visiting Ice. The Voyageurs got goals from Chandler, Ian Johnson and Porod (assisted by Chandler) to take a 3-1 lead in the first game, but saw West Bend come back to salvage the 3-3 tie despite 20 saves by Van Enkenvoort in goal for De Pere. Game 2 saw the Voyageurs trail most of the way. West Bend scored the only goal of the first period before Chandler evened the score with 3 minutes left in the second. The Ice went back in front with just 15 seconds left in the period and held the lead well into the third. Chandler would tie it, picking up his second of the game with 3:09 left and then completed a hat trick with just 1:47 left to put De Pere in front. The Voyageurs hung on from there, picking up the victory for Van Enkenvoort (17 saves) in goal. Led by head coach Chris Dewsnap and assistant coaches Ben Allen and Tom Porod, the Voyageurs completed the season with an record. Hey Coach! I mustache you a questions but I ll shave it for later! Celebrating the final win of the season!

8 SQUIRT A The Squirt A s celebrate a first place finish in the Waupaca tournament on March 4, 2017! Way to represent De Pere Youth Hockey! PEE WEE B SUBMITTED BY MARY STUEBER The Pee Wee B s had some great games this month against Manitowoc. We were short players due to injury and illness but the team came together to come from behind for a big win in the second game. We also had a high scoring effort against Shawano last weekend. We came up a bit short but we worked hard to keep scoring. We are closing out our season this weekend with another showdown with Manitowoc. The Pee Wee moms show off their artistic talents at the Palette and Pub in Ashwaubenon.

9 PEE WEE A SUBMITTED BY WENDY FOTH The Pee Wee s A s had their best tournament showing this year in Antigo the weekend of Feb 18-19, They beat Waupaca 4-3 and tied Antigo 4-4 to earn their spot in the championship game against Tomah. Despite the efforts of Johnny Merkatoris, who scored both of the Voyageur goals in the championship game, the PWA s lost in an OT nail biter 2-3 for 2 nd place. Congratulations to Tommy Vandelist for winning the stick handling skills competition at the tournament. We ended the year with a Parent vs. Player game. Who won? Sorry kids better luck next year! BANTAM - SUBMITTED BY WENDY FOTH Congratulations Bantams on a fantastic season! You ve accomplished your goals of going to state, becoming better hockey players and beating last year s record. The bantams ended the season in Rice Lake at the WAHA Bantam 2A state tournament. They beat Janesville in the first game 7-4. Then they lost to Black River Falls 4-3 after trailing 3-0 in the first period. The Voyageurs ran out of time after the momentum of the game had shifted to their favor. In the last game the bantams took Eagle River 6-4 for third place! Their final record was
