This developmental time should be used to observe coaching strategy, substitutions, player understudy, clock management, shot selection, etc. If selected to swing up or down you are expected to make every attempt to participate or notify your coach otherwise.
17 Playing Time Varsity Competitive. With the state championship as the goal playing time is not guaranteed. Junior Varsity (and JVII) Developmental. The goal is to develop skills and teams. Playing time is intended to be more equitable. **Missed practices and late to practice impact playing time at all levels. What does it take for me to get more playing time? Ask these questions: What am I doing to get better on offense, defense? What am I doing to develop my off hand? Am I doing wall drills every day? Do I study game film or watch lax whenever I get the chance (games, TV, etc.) Do I attend camps? Do I engage with my coach every day? Do I practice during the offseason everyday? Am I always on-time? Our coaches share a common desire to develop a championship program and trained on how to continually provide concise feedback about what it takes to get better.

Players will be required to wear goggles and mouth guard at all times. NO jewelry or cell phones. Tryout information All players will be placed on either Varsity or JV. Varsity Tryouts will be held after the first week of practice. The number of players selected for Varsity will depend on the total number of players trying out and the skill level of each player. Selections will be based upon the following criteria (not in any particular order): 1) Performance of Lacrosse Skills 2) Field sense and understanding of Team strategy 3) Work Ethic, Heart 4) Ability to work with other players 5) Athletic ability 6) Coachability, Skill Learning Coaching staff reserves the right to swing players between JV and Varsity depend ing on team need and player performance. Varsity Letters will be issued to all players officially moved to Varsity by the coaching staff.
26 Playing Time As a coaching staff we expect players to be dedicated to the team and to work hard physically and mentally to improve individually and as a group. We strive to make practices exciting and fun for players, while keeping up the desired level of intensity necessary to improve. Playing time will be generally determined by the following criteria: 1) Team needs 2) Position 3) Performance of Lacrosse Skills 4) Field sense and understanding of Team strategy 5) Heart, aggressiveness 6) Dedication to team (includes practice attendance and effort) 7) Game time coaching decisions based on the immediate needs of the team Sportsmanship/Behavior Players, Coaches and Parents When any of us makes a commitment to this team we make a commitment to represent Sunset High School and it s community both on and off the field. We hope and expect that Parent, coach and especially player behavior will be appropriate and respectful at all times and places. We should treat other people, and their facilities, as we would like our players, fans, coaches and facilities to be treated. We hope the players will be good examples to other players and their peers of sportsmanship, respect, discipline, friendliness, acceptance and perseverance. Our behavior should always reflect positively on our school and community. Should any questions arise about playing time players should discuss their concerns and needed areas of growth with the coaching staff. Players should feel free to contact Coach Amber at any time for any reason.call, or text amberec@gmail.com PRACTICE/ GAME ATTENDANCE: Players must attend and participate with full effort in all practices, games, meetings and other team events. Our team can only reach its potential with every player putting in a full effort. Should a player need to be excused from practice she needs to contact Coach Amber Christensen PRIOR to that practice. Unexcused absences or less than full effort at practice may result in any or all of the following at the discretion of the coaching staff and Board: 1) Loss of game time 2) Suspension or Dismissal from practices and games 3) Dismissal from team In addition we strongly encourage support between our two teams and through the youth program. We are one program. The improvement and success of our Youth, JV and Varsity players strongly influence the success of our program as a whole. We encourage players from all teams to, when possible, attend each others games, work together for improvement and encourage each other. We all become better as a team by teaching and helping each other to improve and by watching and learning from others. Opportunities for Coaching at the youth level are also available and we strongly encourage participation.
