4 Section 2 Prime Beef Cattle MAJOR SPONSORS John Wyatt Electrical Brian McFarlane T/A Tom Moore Plumbing Highchester P/L CHIEF STEWARD: Dale Farmers Ph: Mobile: ENTRY FEE - $5:50 PER ENTRY - Carcass & Hoof Classes (inclusive of GST) ENTRY FORMS TO BE LODGED AT THE SHOW OFFICE BY: CARCASS - Wednesday 23rd August, 2017 at 3.00pm. HOOF - Wednesday 30th August, 2017 at 3:00pm. LATE NOMINATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED COMPETITORS MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF ALL NECESSARY STOCK PERMITS PRIZE MONEY - First $100, Second $50, Third $25, unless otherwise stated. PROCEDURE FOR COMPETITIONS: These procedures MUST be followed by ALL exhibitors. THE CHIEF STEWARD SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY ENTRY AND HIS/HER RULING SHALL BE ADHERED TO AT ALL TIMES. HIGHCHESTER CARCASS CLASSES: A receipt will be issued upon receiving the completed entry forms, along with the applicable entry fees, at the Secretary's Office. The Show Society will then issue each carcass class exhibitor with a prenumbered Ear Tag to be placed in each Exhibit's Left Ear. These tags will be recorded in a register, so identification of each exhibit and entry can be made. Upon the receipt of tags, it will be the responsibility of the Exhibitor to have these tags placed in the Left Ear prior to arrival at the Highchester Gleneagle Abattoir. Please note: If any exhibit arrives at the abattoir with no ear tag, the entry will not be accepted until such tag is placed in the offending exhibit. Any injury being inflicted on an animal being tagged at the abattoir will be the responsibility of the exhibitor. For entries & payment by post please contact the Chief Steward or Secretary for details of tag pick-up. HOOF CLASSES: All entries must show Preferred Selling Agent. In most cases, exhibitors have advised the agent or agents as to what will be sold by whom, prior to official entry. Each Agent will have a set of Tags of different colours. Upon being told of entries by Exhibitors, Agents will then issue Pre-Numbered Tags (on both sides of the tag) to the Exhibitor. An arrangement between the Agent and the Exhibitor will then determine who will actually ear tag the Exhibit. For exhibitors who split their cattle between agents - Tags will have to be collected or delivered between Exhibitor and Agent/Agents and a mutual agreement made as to placing of Tags on Animals. It is likely most Exhibitors will arrange Tags with Agents and then on a said date, tag all cattle at once. For Exhibitors without Pliers, Show Society Pliers will be available from Agents, for this purpose. All entries must be tagged prior to delivery to the Show yards. Cattle which have been fed on grain for 100 days or more, and have feedlot accreditation must also have a purple ear tag placed in right side ear. Cattle which have feedlot accreditation and have been fed on grain specifically for local trade classes i.e. steers minimum 70 days grain, heifers minimum 60 days grain and all having 2 permanent teeth or less, must have a red tag placed in right side ear. These tags are available from the Agents. GENERAL INFORMATION RE TAGS: Tags will be Allflex Brand - Maxi Pre-Numbered. Tags for Carcass Classes are orange coloured, with a matching button. Tags for Hoof Classes will be of different colours to represent the individual agents as directed. The tag is to be placed in the Left Ear, so as to be clearly seen by Stewards. Ear tagging of all cattle is required to help with more efficient penning on the Thursday afternoon of the Show. Note: All cattle need to have NLIS tags fitted, as well as Agents Tags RULES AND REGULATIONS: 1. Entry Fees to accompany all Entry Forms. 2. No late nominations will be accepted. 3. The teeth of all cattle exhibited in this section, must be examined by the exhibitor or his agent prior to entry. (Spot checks will be carried out by stewards upon entry to the show grounds). 4. The judges' decision as to weight and age shall be final. 5. The Chief Steward shall have the right to reject any entry and his ruling shall be adhered to at all times. 6. No Exhibit in Prime Cattle Classes can compete in more than one class. 7. All cattle must be in the hands of the stewards by 4pm Thursday, for judging to commence at 6:30am Friday. No cattle will be accepted for penning on Friday morning. Cattle will remain at the Show Grounds until 1pm on the Saturday of the Show. 8. All cattle must be tick free - cattle with ticks will not be accepted for entry. 9. All cattle must be polled or de-horned. Please note that cattle could be inspected by the Chief Steward and two delegated members of the committee who have the right to disqualify any exhibit that does not comply. 10. The Society will not accept liability for livestock exhibited, such liability being that of the Exhibitor. After the fall of the Auctioneers' Hammer, the stock becomes the responsibility of the purchaser in every respect. 11. The Judge shall take into consideration age, breeding, quality, conformation, weight for age and depth of fleshing coupled with least waste in all classes, and shall withhold awards unless the exhibits are of sufficient merit, and do subscribe to the conditions of the class. 12. Any entry in the female classes showing, or proving to be in calf shall be ineligible. 13. In all classes, only beef breeds or beef crosses are eligible. 14. All cattle entered in the Hoof Classes will be weighed on arrival at the show ground. All exhibitors are reminded that it is the full weight which is recorded and then taken and used for entry to relevant classes and given as a guide only for any future transactions at point of sale. 15. Cattle will be sold through open auction by: Bartholomew & Co, Goetsch & Sons, Hayes & Co. & Shepherdson & Boyd Qld Pty Ltd. It is essential for all exhibitors to nominate on entry forms the selling agent through which it is desired the cattle be sold. If more than one agent is nominated, the exhibitor must specify the particular animals to be allocated to preferred agents. 16. All Stock is to go under the Auctioneer's Hammer. The owner reserves the right to buy back his or her cattle. 17. All exhibits must be bona-fide property of the exhibitor for sixty days prior to the closing date for entries. Proof of ownership may be required. 18. It is the responsibility of each exhibitor or his agent to affix the appropriate coloured tape (insulation tape) to the tail of selected entries prior to dispatch to the showgrounds. Tape will be supplied to the Agents by the Show Society. The required colours are as below:- No Tape - milk teeth. Green Tape - not more than 2 (two) permanent incisors. Hoof entries in weight range classes, singularly or in pens must be within the specified weight ranges for the class. Failure to do this will result in the entry or pens of entries being placed in the nearest relevant class. In regard to pen entries the average weight will be taken into account when determining the nearest relevant class. 4
