1 SECTION 3 BEEF CATTLE SECTION 3A STUD BEEF CATTLE Chief Steward: Anthony Ball For all enquiries Phone: Steward: TBA Judge: Renee Rutherford Entry Fee: $10.00 per head Prizes: 1 st $30.00; 2 nd $20.00; 3 rd $10.00 (unless otherwise stated) Entries Close 4p.m. Friday 22 nd June 2018 (14 Days prior to show) Judging a.m. Saturday 7 th July 2018 Exhibitors Please Note: Re Championship Awards All first prize winners (Calf Champion 6-12 months, Junior Champion months, and Senior Champion months) are to compete within their Sections (Tropical British/ European or Small Breeds). After selecting the Champion, the judge will be required to select an animal for Reserve. The Reserve shall be selected from the remaining first place animals together with the second place animal from the class which furnished the Champion. GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY AND COMPETITION 1. All stock must be on the grounds by a.m. FRIDAY of show. 2. Cattle can be accommodated in the STUD SHED from a.m. WEDNESDAY. Early arriving cattle can be penned in the Prime Cattle Yards under Chief Steward s direction. 3. ALL BULLS will be WEIGHED a.m. FRIDAY and random mouthing may be undertaken. 4. ALL CATTLE EXHIBITED MUST REMAIN ON THE GROUNDS UNTIL AFTER THE GRAND PARADE. All ribbon winners must take part in the Grand Parade (approx p.m. Sunday), unless special permission has been granted by the Chief Steward, otherwise all prize money and trophies will be forfeited. 5. For safety reasons, all cattle are to remain in allotted stall area unless being washed or handled. 6. All cattle must be handled and tractable and led into the ring to the judge for judging and ribbons. 7. All cattle must be fully registered with the respective breed societies and certificates MUST be available for inspection on request by the Chief Steward or Show Society Executive. No Registration, No Show. 8. The age of registered stud cattle is to be calculated from birth up to the 1 st of July this year. Please supply actual date of birth of each animal on the entry form. 9. All cattle must be bona fide property of the exhibitor and are to be exhibited free of disease and ticks. 10. BULLS over 12 months of age MUST have a nose ring. FEMALES over the age of 12 months MUST be nose ringed or dogged. ALL CATTLE must have lead attached when handled on the grounds. For safety and courtesy reasons, neck straps or neck chains MUST be used in stalls. 11. Any calf shown on a cow is not eligible to be shown in any calf class. The maximum age of a calf on a cow is 8 months as of the 1 st of July. 12. If, in the opinion of the judge, any exhibit is not worthy of a prize or out of class, the judge has the right to refuse to give an award. 13. No cattle are allowed as non-competitive. 14. All cattle MUST be dehorned or tipped. 15. Exhibitors are requested to pay particular attention to the filling-in of their entry form and to supply all information requested, including date of birth, as it is from this that the catalogue will be compiled. 16. All electrical leads must be tagged in accordance with the relevant industrial regulations. 17. Exhibitors Passes will be issued, on receipt of Entry Form, as follows:- 1 to 3 beasts 1 pass; 4 to 6 beasts 2 passes; 7 and over 3 passes. 18. This Show is conducted to the rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies Inc, the constitution and the rules of this Society, and any regulation which appears within the Schedule for individual sections of this Show. Should there be any conflict between the rules of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies Inc, and the constitution and rules of this society, the rules of this society and the regulations appearing in the Schedule of this Society shall prevail. 19. The Malanda Show Society will not be responsible for any accident caused through, or by, an exhibit and will not under any circumstances hold itself responsible for any loss or miss-delivery of livestock or other exhibit of any kind, or for any damage done thereto. 20. All persons upon entering any class in this schedule agree to indemnify the Malanda Show Society against liability for any accident, damage, loss or illness to any exhibit. The Exhibitor or Competitor agrees that all competitions are under the complete and total control of the Malanda Show Society whose decision in all matters is final. 6 NOTE TO ALL CATTLE EXHIBITORS: ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION IN SHEDS The consumption of Alcohol in a public place is prohibited under the Liquor Act The Malanda Cattle Sheds are a public area and as such the Committee of the Malanda Show Society is notifying all Cattle Exhibitors that there is to be NO CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL IN THE CATTLE SHEDS CLOSURE OF ACCESS ROAD BESIDE STUD CATTLE JUDGING RING Malanda Show Society requests that ALL Cattle Exhibitors keep in mind the fact that the road will be closed to ALL traffic during judging in the Stud Cattle Judging Ring on the Saturday and Sunday. Judging on both days will commence at 9:00 a.m. It is anticipated that judging will be finalized well before 4 p.m. please advise all Cattle Carriers that they are not to access the rear loading ramps at the back of the Cattle Area before 4 p.m. For further information contact the show office
7 SECTION 3B LED STEER & HEIFER (COMMERCIAL) COMPETITION Chief Steward: Anthony Ball All Enquiries Phone: Judge: Entry Fee: $10.00 per head Entries Close 4 p.m. Friday 22 nd June 2018 (14 Days prior to show) Judging 9.00 a.m. Sunday 8 th July 2018 GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY AND COMPETITION PLEASE NOTE: CATTLE STALL AREA MUST BE CLEAN AND TIDY AT ALL TIMES! 1. CATTLE TO BE ON THE SHOWGROUNDS NO LATER THAN A.M. FRIDAY, to allow time for weighing and mouthing, which will take place in the prime cattle ring at A.M. FRIDAY. 2. Cattle MUST remain on the grounds until after the Grand Parade (12.30 p.m. Sunday) and all placed cattle must take part in the Grand Parade, or Prize Money and Trophies will be forfeited. 3. ALL Steers/Heifers over 12 months MUST be nose-ringed or dogged, with lead attached when handled on the grounds. For safety, accommodation and courtesy reasons, neck straps or neck chains MUST be used in stalls. 4. Stewards have the final decision on teeth and weight, and it s the stewards decision as to whether the handler is in control of the exhibit. There is no age limit on the handlers, but, for safety reasons, and as points are awarded for the handler s ability, it is wise for owners to have a responsible person handling the exhibit. 5. ALL cattle MUST be of a quiet nature, horn tipped, able to be lead and free of any notable disease and ticks. 6. The Malanda Show Society declines any responsibility in connection with the animals or injury to, or by, them. The owner shall be personally responsible. 7. The exhibit need not be the property of the leader/exhibitor. 8. The exhibit must be pure beef breed or beef infused crossbreed. 9. AN ANIMAL MAY NOT COMPETE IN BOTH THE STUD CATTLE AND LED STEER/HEIFER SECTION. 8 SECTION 3C JUNIOR PARADERS COMPETITION Chief Steward: Anthony Ball All enquiries Phone: Judge: Entry Fee: NIL Entries Close 1.00 p.m. Friday 6 th July 2018 Judging will follow Led Steer & Heifer Competition Sunday 8 th July 2018 CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: 1. Animal may be from the Stud Beef or Led Steer/Heifer Sections. 2. Animal need not be the property of the Parader. 3. Exhibitors under 25 years are eligible to enter this competition. 4. Paraders must be neatly attired and males are expected to wear a tie. Points will be deducted for poor presentation. Shorts and thongs are not permitted. 5. Paraders must wear a white coat with no names or logos on them. 6. Paraders will supply their own white coat and show cane. 7. Paraders lead a steer, heifer or bull under 20 months. 8. Where applicable conditions for the Stud Beef and Led Steer/Heifer Sections will apply. 9 SECTION 3D JUNIOR STUD BEEF CATTLE JUDGING COMPETITION Chief Steward: Anthony Ball For all enquiries Phone: Judge: Entry Fee: NIL Entries Close: 1.00 p.m. Friday 6 th July 2018 Judging 2.30 p.m. FRIDAY 6 th July 2018 in Stud Cattle Ring CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: 1. One class of four (4) animals is to be judged by the competitors. 2. Animals in each class will be identified by numbers All competitors will take part in the oral judging. 4. Visual judging will take place first. Competitors will be allowed eight minutes to judge the four animals and to complete each judging card. 5. Each competitor in the Oral Class is allowed three minutes for ringcraft and speaking. 6. The winner of the competition is marked out of a maximum of 100 points: 75 for the placings given in the visual class and 25 for the Oral Class. 7. Competitors in the Oral Class are scored on their ringcraft, accuracy of observation, their comparative statements, speaking ability and general presentation and dress. 8. In the case of a dead heat, the contestant with the highest points for visual judging will be declared the winner or if there is still a dead heat the over judge will have the final say.
