1 CATTLE Secretary: Mandi Julian Notes: All cattle entries must comply with DEFRA regulations in force at the time of the show. Liskeard Agricultural Show Holding Number 07/156/8002. All movements must be reported to the British Cattle Movement Service. Details will be sent with passes etc. for those who have entered. (Adhesive labels bearing the show site holding number are available.) All cattle must be double tied. Exhibitors of Bulls over 10 months of age must ensure that two people accompany the bull at all times when competing or moving the animal to and from the cattle lines to the ring. No bulls born before 1 st January 2018 can be exhibited in the Junior Stockpersons Classes. Due to the changes to TB pre-movement testing exemptions no cattle can remain on the showground for longer than a 24 hour period. The Association will make available to exhibitors a milking bail, kindly supplied by the Dairy Centre Ltd. Please could exhibitors bring their own milking units. All cups should be signed for and collected from the Livestock Office after the Grand Parade. Would exhibitors please ensure that they enter for Special Exhibitors Prizes on the entry form. Classes may be amalgamated if there are fewer than three entries in each section. Exhibitors must live within the area marked on the map on page 4 to qualify for local classes and specials. Entry Fees: All classes 4.00 per entry. Show Members 3.50 per entry. Prizes: 1st 20; 2nd 12; 3rd 6; 4th 4. The J R West Perpetual Cup for the local exhibitor gaining most points in the cattle classes. Dairy Interbreed Special Prizes C4-C8 will be judged following the Dairy Breed Classes at approximately 11.45am by Mr M Grose, Helston, Cornwall C4 C5 C6 C7 The J Sobey Perpetual Cup for the Best Pair of Dairy Animals, any breed, any age, any sex, both animals to be the property of the same owner. The T M Stanier Grand Perpetual Challenge Cup for the Best Heifer of any recognised dairy breed, which has not had a calf. One exhibit in each breed will be nominated by the section judge. The W J Parsons Jubilee Challenge Trophy for the Best Local Dairy Animal in the Cattle classes. To be competed for annually. One exhibit in each breed will be nominated by the section judge. C9 The QT Services Perpetual Challenge Cup for the Best Calf of any beef breed born in This is an open class; enter on your entry form. No entry fee. Prizes:1 st nd 12, 3 rd 6. C10 The Minerva Cup, for the Best Pair of Beef Animals, any breed, any age, any sex, both animals to be the property of the same owner. To be competed for annually. This is an open class; enter on your entry form. No entry fee. Prizes: 1 st 20, 2 nd 12, 3 rd 6. C11 The Calweton Cup for the Best Local Animal in the Beef Classes. To be competed for annually. One exhibit for each breed will be nominated by the section judge. C12 The JB Stanier Perpetual Challenge Cup for the best Beef Animal in classes 1-23 to be competed for annually. C45 The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association Cornish Points Championship This show is one of five (Camborne, Camelford, Launceston, Liskeard and Stithians) at which points will be offered towards Prizes of 1st 100 and 2nd 50 in open cattle classes for the exhibitors gaining the most points over the 2018 Cornish summer show season. Points will be awarded as follows: 1st prize 3 points, 2nd prize 2 points, 3rd prize 1 point and exhibits must be entered under the same names at the relevant shows to be eligible. C15 The Mole Valley Rose Bowl. A perpetual trophy to be competed for in the South Devon Breed Class at the following shows: Royal Cornwall, Liskeard Show, Stithians Show, Launceston Show, Camborne Show, Camelford Show and Penryn Show. Only Members of the Truro South Devon Cattle Club are eligible to compete. Eligible animals must be entered or accepted for entry in the Herd Book of the South Devon Herd Book Society. One point will be awarded to each animal presented for judging (excluding calves at foot):- 1st = 5pts, 2nd = 4pts, 3rd = 3pts, 4th = 2pts. Group classes are included e.g. 1 point for each animal in the group and 5 points for the winning group. Specials are not included. C30 Breed Champion Award presented to the owner of the Champion Ayrshire by the Ayrshire Cattle Society. C31 Rosettes are offered by the Ayrshire Cattle Society and sponsored by Cattle Services (Ayr) Ltd for the following two groups: (A) Group of three females: (B) A progeny group of two or more by the same sire or out of the same dam. All animals comprising the groups competing for these special prizes must be entered in the Ayrshire classes, registered with the Ayrshire Cattle Society, and property of the same owner. To be competed for annually. The Holstein UK and Ireland offers a Championship rosette to the exhibitor of the female champion. The reserve will also receive a rosette. The Holstein UK and Ireland also offers: a. A Best Exhibitor Bred rosette, to the exhibitor of the best Holstein bred by the exhibitor. b. A Best Udder rosette to the exhibitor of the Holstein with the best udder in the show. c. A Junior Champion rosette to the exhibitor of the best Holstein entry calved less than three years of age. The Philip Gorman Memorial Trophy, presented by Angela Furness of Tregonnett, for the Best Heifer in Milk (winner of class 26). To be competed for annually. A Perpetual Cup presented by the Cornish Holstein Club for the exhibitor gaining most
5 C37 points for prizes won in the Holstein Classes, with the exception of the group class. To qualify for entry, each exhibitor must be a member of the Cornwall Holstein Club and their herd is resident within the county of Cornwall. Points awarded:- 1st = 5pts, 2nd = 4pts, 3rd = 3pts, 4th = 2pts, 5th = 1pt. The BOCM/SILCOCK Challenge Cup presented by Messrs BOCM/Silcock, for a Holstein Cow of Heifer scoring most points for conformation, milk yield and butterfat, for the officially recorded lactation completed after 30th May 2017 and or not more than 305 days. A National Milk Records certificate MUST BE ENCLOSED WITH ENTRY FORM. 80 points to be awarded to the Best Animal for conformation with the remaining animals on a descending scale; 5 points for each 453.5kgs (1,000 lbs) milk yield 3 points for each 0.1% over 3.5% butterfat. Animals with an average butterfat of less than 3.3% will not be eligible to compete. The judge will nominate one animal to go forward to each of the Interbreed Specials C5, C6 & C7. Prizes: 1st 10, 2nd 6, 3rd 4, plus rosettes to all entrants. Please put the name and the age of the stockperson on the entry form. Junior Stockpersons Competitors to prepare and show a calf of any breed or cross. Calves must be of a suitable size and temperament for the handler. No bulls born before 1 st January 2018 can be exhibited in the Junior Stockperson Classes. 7 The Mole Valley Farmers Young Handler Series Championship Supporting the next generation For the second year, Mole Valley Farmers is holding its Young Handlers Series of competitions across shows in the South West. This is open to young stock handlers (aged 12 and under on the first January 2018). With sheep, beef and dairy categories, children entering the Young Handler classes at Liskeard Show (14th July), Woolsery Show (30 th July), Launceston Show (26 th July), North Devon Show (1st August), Okehampton Show (9th August), Dunster Show (17th August) and Holsworthy & Stratton Show (23rd August), will automatically be entered. Points will be accumulated at each show in the series. First prize = 3 points; second prize = 2 points; third prize = 1 points. At the final show, Holsworthy & Stratton, there will be a special presentation to the children with the top three marks. The winner will receive a cup and sash, plus 100 of Mole Valley Farmers vouchers; 50 for second place and 25 for third place. To find out more about the Series, please go to
