5 Here are a few points to note when making entries into the 2019 Royal Bath & West Show. Exhibitors should be familiar with the full Terms & Conditions which can be found at 12:00noon to 7:00pm 8:00am to 8:00pm 7:00am to 7:30am 6:00pm to 8:00pm Animals may be loaded: Stock vehicles may depart All stock All Stock incl Trade Stands Commercial Lamb Dairy Calves From 4:00pm Saturday Until 7:30pm on Saturday Will be closed between 8:30am and 7:00pm each day. Twin bedded rooms in the cattle buildings are available for CATTLE exhibitors in the first instance. After the entry close date for Dairy Cattle any available rooms may be offered to other stock exhibitors. Beds or rooms are booked for the period of show (4 nights). Those booking an individual bed WILL share a room. Caravans, motorhomes, tents etc used by Stock Exhibitors staying on site during the Show, should be located in the Stock Exhibitors Camping Park. No electricity is provided but the use of silent diesel generators is permitted from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The Show will allocate stalls and pens after entries close and reserves the right to amend as necessary. Please contact the Entries Office ( ) if you have any different requests. For exhibitors with stock forward, offering a discount against the cost of breakfast Saturday morning. All Exhibitors must have the physical ability and experience and be competent to handle animals in their charge. No animal shall be removed from its place in the show except at the times stated in the schedule. The decision of the Veterinary Officer shall be final and conclusive. Exhibitors shall be liable to pay for drugs administered by the Veterinary Officers. Ringworm animals exhibiting any signs at any stage will be disqualified and removed from the Show. (Reg 49) Exhibitors are encouraged to investigate vaccinating stock. Bulls - aged 10 month and over must be fitted with a nose ring and must be double tied in the lines. (Reg 67) Ringworm animals exhibiting any signs at any stage will be disqualified and removed from the Show. (Reg 49) Malpractices No device of any description to be used preventing the flow of milk. (Reg 75). Boars - aged 12 months or over at the time of exhibition must have their tusks cut prior to the Show and shown by two competent adult handlers equipped with protective boards. (Reg 85) Tail Docking enough of the tail retained to cover the vulva (female) or anus (male). Animals will be inspected either upon arrival or in the lines and sheep failing to comply will not be eligible. (Reg 80) Orf animals found to be affected will be disqualified from competition and removed from the show. (Reg 50) Scab - it is recommended that sheep are treated for Scab a fortnight before the Show. (Reg 51) Winning exhibitors will be issued with a prize money voucher redeemable during the show. Vouchers not presented may be submitted to the Entries Office no later than 14 days after the last day of the Show together with bank details to enable payment via BACS. NO CHEQUES WILL BE ISSUED. Championship prize money will be paid after the show. 4

An Interbreed Competition based upon tidiness and cleanliness of stalls/pens, stock, stockmen, presentation of display information. Judge will take into account: a) Herd signs, display of pedigree, production, financial information about the Herd, Stock for sale: in a space not exceeding 1m wide by 1m high for each stall (2m wide for each pen), either as a separate unit or in a continuous run (eg 4 stalls = continuous run of 4m x 1m) per breed. These measurements include all fixings, attachments: nails must not be used to affix the display boards to the pens. Board to be provided and fixed by exhibitor and made of lightweight material. Backing material permitted to cover the entire length of stalling. Rosettes from other Shows or flowers and shrubs not be permitted in any display. b) Consideration given to the educational content of the display targeted at the general public. c) General neatness of the stalls/pens throughout the Show. d) Exhibitors to look upon their stalls/pens as a Herd Display. Advertising material must be confined to the boards used. e) Judging will be entirely at the Judge's discretion and based upon more than one visit to the lines. f) The Judge will take into account the circumstances and variables between stock accommodation. g) No electrical equipment to be used, with the exception of fans. Team to provide one animal to be used during the competition. Only heifers or steers, no bulls, which must be under 30mths of age on the first day of show (born on or after 1 December 2016) will be permitted. 2. The animal does not have to be the property of any member of the team or the 'Team Sponsor' but will be under the sole responsibility of the team members during the period of the competition. 3. Animals must participate in either the breed classes or the Commercial Cattle classes in the show. 4. Animals should be trimmed before arriving at the event, pre-washed and in a clean state. 5. Skills to be demonstrated will be stock judging, preparation and presentation of the animal for the show ring and finally showing of the animal in front of a judge. The conformation of the animal will not be judged. Senior Teams will also prepare, stage and take a photograph of the animal. 6. Stock Judging competitors will be required to judge four animals and the competition will run under YFC rules requiring the animals to be placed A, B, X and Y. However, exhibitors may bring cross-bred sheep to the show, provided consent has been obtained from the Show Manager, but the animals must travel, arrive and be penned with sheep already entered by the exhibitor in breed classes. RBST Young Shepherd The winning Junior and Senior Young Sheep Handlers will be eligible to take part in the RBST Young Shepherd Competition If a winner has already qualified the next highest placed eligible competitor not previously qualified can go forward. The Grand Final for the RBST Young Shepherd Competition will be held at the Royal County of Berkshire Show on Sunday 22 September at the Newbury Showground. The Junior Shepherd of the Year will win the Outlane Trophy and the Senior Young Shepherd of the Year will win the Harrison Challenge Trophy. The winners from each class will then compete for the overall Young Shepherd of the Year. The winner will receive 50 and the Champion rosette, and the Junior and Senior Reserves will receive 25 and Reserve Champion rosette. The handler qualifiers not the sheep. At the final only Non-MV sheep are permitted, and the handler must use a rare or native breed. If a qualified handler does not have access to sheep which meet these two criteria, an animal can be provided by the RBST, but the handler must contact the Trust in advance to make arrangements.
