25 CONDITIONS FOR PIG EXHIBITORS Identification Pigs moving to shows must comply with the identification requirements in Articles 7 & 9 of the Pigs (Records, Identification and Movement) Order 2011 ( PRIMO 2011 ) 1. Movement reporting Movements of pigs to/from shows must comply with the reporting requirements in Articles 12 & 16 of PRIMO The use of the old paper AML2 forms is phased out as of 1 st April Moves to this show must therefore be pre-notified via the new eaml2 system. Copies of the new Haulier Summary movement document, which must accompany pigs throughout the journey to the Show and their return journey to the premises of origin, may be obtained from the eaml2 system directly when pre-notifying the move online on or alternatively, from the MLCSL Bureau Service, who will pre-notify the movement onto eaml2 on your behalf, and then send you the appropriate number of copies of the movement document to accompany the animals in transit. The MLCSL bureau can be contacted by phone on , fax or eaml2@bpex.org.uk. Please allow enough time to receive your documents through the post before the show. Failure to comply with Primo 2011 and obtain a correct movement document could cause pigs to be detained at Newark Showground for a period of 21 days. Any pigs that are sold, or are otherwise disposed of, or are not returning to premises of origin, must leave the show accompanied by a Haulier Summary movement document. The receiving keeper must then confirm receipt of the animals either online via eaml2 or to the MLCSL Bureau, within 3 days of the animals arrival at their premises. Compliance with the terms of the General Licence for the movement of Pigs requires: A. Either isolation of the pigs for 20 days after movement from the Show, in a Defra approved isolation facility, OR: B. 20-day standstill on the movement of pigs from the premises of destination (other than movement of pigs for immediate slaughter). If being exported direct to another EU Member State, the equivalent certification in accordance with the appropriate Trade Directive in force at the time must be obtained from the Exports team at AHVLA Carlisle ( ). Pigs from Northern Ireland should be accompanied by certification provided by the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland, including additional certification of freedom from Aujesky's Disease. Transporters Transporters of pigs are respectfully reminded that vehicles must be disinfected within 24 hours of movement of pigs and during transportation to and from the Shows; pigs must bear an identification mark. Welfare No person shall cause or permit the transportation of an animal that is unfit by reason of it being in a state of being newborn, diseased, infirm, ill, injured or fatigued or having given birth within the preceding 7 days, or likely to farrow during transit, or for any other reason, in compliance with the Welfare of Animals Transport Order 1997, or any other legislation which is in force at the time of this event. Registration All pigs to have been registered in or accepted for entry in the Herd book proper of their respective breeds in this country, or an officially approved Herd Book in Member State. The registered name, Herd Book number (or volume for which the animal is entered), ear 25

26 number, date of birth, breeder (where not the exhibitor) and name and Herd Book number of the sire and dam must be given on the entry form for printing in the Catalogue. UK Exhibitors must be members of the BPA, the British Lop Pig Society or to the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. Members of the BPA recording through the Trust any minority pig breed are eligible to receive BPA prizes. Entries must fulfil the conditions relating to those pigs. Judging Pigs will be judged in accordance with the rules of the BPA. The use of artificial colouring, whitening and/or powder on pigs as well as the removal of spots by artificial means is prohibited. White wood flour is permitted. Classes will be judged in catalogue order, unless otherwise specified, and include any Championships within a section or group of Classes, unless otherwise indicated. Refunds Refunds of entry fees will only be made on production of a valid veterinary certificate. No copies will be accepted, and a 15 administration charge will be levied. ANY MODERN BREED OF PIG Not Separately Classified Mr B Upchurch Conditions All entries must clearly show on Entry Form: Registered Name Ear Number/Tattoo Herdbook number If not shown the entry form (but not the cheque) will be returned for completion. Once entries have been received this year, the Society may split exhibits into breed classes before the Show and will inform exhibitors as soon as possible after the entries close. Qualifiers This show is a qualifier for The Pedigree Welsh "Champion of Champions 2012". To qualify for the Champion of Champions finals the pig must: Be owned and shown by a bona fide member of PWPS Be correctly and clearly tattooed, in both ears*, before weaning from its mother. It must be registered in the Welsh section of the Herdbook at BPA. This will be checked by an inspector of the PWPS before judging commences. Have been correctly entered in the show catalogue with Name, Ear Number and Herdbook number recorded therein. Have been selected, by the BPA Approved show judge, as breed champion. In the event that the breed champion has already qualified at an earlier show then the reserve breed champion may be chosen. In the event that both are already qualified, the judge must select one of the remaining First Prize pigs as the qualifier. No further substitution will be allowed. The qualifier and a reserve must be notified to PWPS as soon after the show as practicable. Be committed to go to the finals at Beeston. *This rule will apply to all pigs born after 1st September Older pigs must still be clearly tattooed in at least one ear. 26
