2 CONDITIONS OF SALE AND ENTRY For Society Sales held in Wales under the auspices of THE SOCIETY OF BORDER LEICESTER SHEEP BREEDERS 1 Entries will only be accepted from fully paid up members of the Society of Border Leicester Sheep Breeders. 2 All sheep must be either registered or eligible for registration in the Border Leicester Flock Book and be Maedi Visna Accredited. 3 All Vendor s must supply their Flock Number and Prefix must be supplied with their entries. Ear numbers and sire and dam of all sheep must be given at the time of entry together with UK tag numbers. 4 All sheep will be inspected prior to sale and any not meeting with the required standard will not pass through the sale ring. 5 Rigs, pig-mouthed sheep, cudspillers and sheep with any infectious disease are not eligible and will not be accepted for sale. Vendors are required to declare any sheep showing more than two broad teeth. 6 Individual sheep can be entered for Builth Wells or Welshpool Sale, but not both. 7 There will be no more than 10 shearling rams and 10 ram lambs from any vendor at Builth Wells. There will be no more than 10 shearling rams from any vendor in each draw at Welshpool. 8 All ram lambs entered for sale must have been bred by the vendor. 9 Females will be sold at Builth Wells only. Each vendor may offer a maximum of 3 gimmers and 3 ewe lambs. All females must be bred by the vendor. 10 The catalogue order of sale will be drawn by ballot. New members will be drawn at the end of the sale. At Builth Wells the draw for rams has been determined by dividing the vendors into three sections, the last section one year to be moved to the front of the sale the following year. A draw will be made to determine the order within each section. A draw will be made to determine the order in each section. 11 All substitutes to be marked with a red dot and pedigree information to be displayed in the pen. Auctioneers to be advised of pedigree information and UK numbers of all substitutes. 12 Any shearling ram or ram lambs shown in a singles class cannot be shown in the Group Class. No more than two entries from each vendor shall be allowed in a singles class. A Championship Cup will be awarded at each sale and at Welshpool a Cup will be awarded to the exhibitor of the best Border Leicester ram or ram lamb bred by the exhibitor. 13 All rams and ram lambs are sold warranted stock-getters. In the event of any ram or ram lamb, tried to natural service, not fulfilling the warranty then claims must be made through the Auctioneers within three months of the date of sale, accompanied by a Veterinary Surgeon s Certificate. The amount of any claim will be restricted to the purchase price of the ram and will not include any loss of profit or consequential loss or any other claim. 14 An entry fee of 3 per head will be levied at the time of entry by the Society of Border Leicester Sheep Breeders (Welsh Section) together with any fees levied by the Auctioneers or, in the case of the Builth Wells Sale, by the NSA. Money must be sent with the Entry Form. 15 Sheep will be sold in guineas and commission charged by the Auctioneers will be at the rate of 5%. A levy of 1.75% + VAT of sale price will be charged by The Society of Border Leicester Sheep Breeders. 16 An upset price will be in operation at all Sales of 100 guineas for shearing rams and 80 guineas for ram lambs. 3 SALE ORDER: THE SALE WILL COMMENCE AT a.m. PROMPT JUDGING at 5.30 p.m. PROMPT on SUNDAY, 18th SEPTEMBER MAEDI VISNA ACCREDITATION VENDORS OF SHEEP IN THE MAEDI VISNA ACCREDITATION SCHEME are asked to comply strictly with the Rules as set out by the DEFRA Maedi Visna Eradication Scheme, in particular: 1) All sheep must be accompanied by Certificates of current official Maedi Visna status. 2) No sheep will be inspected into the Sale, or sold without Maedi Visna Test Certificates. 3) Care must be taken by the Vendor and Purchaser not to infringe the Maedi Visna Rules and Regulations. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO VENDORS MAEDI VISNA ACCREDITED SECTION No sheep will be allowed into the Accredited Marquee until the Vendor hands Certificate SH20 that his flock is accredited to an official from the Auctioneers. 4 PERPETUAL CHALLENGE SILVER CUP presented by the SOCIETY of BORDER LEICESTER SHEEP BREEDERS for the BEST YEARLING RAM or RAM LAMB in the Sale The Judge will also select a RESERVE and SECOND RESERVE to the winning exhibit. The CHAMPION sheep to be sold at the Sale following the Show, failing which the Cup will be awarded to the Reserve exhibit. The winner to hold the Cup for 11 months and to return same to the Auctioneers at the end of the period. The Society of Border Leicester Sheep Breeders reserve the right to alter or amend the Conditions of the award of the Cup at any time.
