NOTES
3 In 2015, the Young Judging and Junior Parading will be held on Monday 19 May commencing at 4:00 pm. These events will be followed by a BBQ sponsored by QGC. The Miles & District competitions will be held prior to the South- West Regional competitions. A Stockman s Challenge will be held following the South-West Regional competitions. Teams of four will be required in the following sections: U15, 16-18, Over 18 Chief Steward: Vikki Knight YOUNG JUDGES & JUNIOR PARADERS COMPETITIONS There is no entry fee for this competition. Nominations are open to persons under 25 years of age on 1 May The LOCAL competition for Paraders will commence at 4:00 pm. If participants wish to progress to Regional competitions they MUST wear an appropriate dust coat or uniform. The winner/s of the local competition need to be 15 years old if they wish to compete in the Regional competitions. Classes will be split as necessary once nominations are received, to allow for fairer competition, at the Chief Steward s discretion. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of each class. Applications for these competitions will be available at the Showgrounds on competition day or can be obtained electronically prior to this day if competitors give the Chief Steward an address. Competitors under 18 years of age are required to get written parental/guardian permission before competing. If required, classes may be further split to allow for fairer competition, at Chief Stewards discretion. 16 STEER/HEIFER, under 250 kg 17 STEER/HEIFER, over 250 kg and under 400 kg 18 STEER/HEIFER, over 400 kg and under 500 kg 19 STEER/HEIFER, over 501 kg CHAMPION LIGHT-WEIGHT STEER/HEIFER RESERVE CHAMPION LIGHT-WEIGHT STEER/HEIFER CHAMPION HEAVY-WEIGHT STEER/HEIFER RESERVE HEAVY-WEIGHT STEER//HEIFER GRAND CHAMPION LED STEER/HEIFER UNLED BULL CLASSES 20 MALE, 12 months and under 16 months 21 MALE, 16 months and under 21 months JUNIOR CHAMPION UNLED BULL RESERVE JUNIOR CHAMPION UNLED BULL 22 MALE, 21 months and under 24 months 23 MALE, 24 months and under 30 months 24 MALE, over 30 months and no more than 42 months STUD BEEF CATTLE CONDITIONS: Exhibitors please note the following conditions apply to ALL classes 1 NO BULLS OVER 42 MTHS ARE PERMITTED TO BE SHOWN. 2 ALL SHOW CATTLE MUST BE TICK FREE TO ENTER THE SHOWGROUNDS. 3 All exhibits to be registered with a recognized Stud Beef Society. 4 All exhibits must be on the Showgrounds no later than 7:00 am on 19 May No stud beef cattle will be admitted to the grounds unless thoroughly tractable. 6 All cattle must be bona fide property of the Exhibitor the three (3) months prior to the Show. 7 Whilst all reasonable care is taken, the society cannot accept any responsibility for any losses or, or damage or injury to or by, any livestock, exhibits, equipment, vehicles or any other property. 8 All exhibitors who participate in the show ring wear dust jackets or society approved uniform at all times when their animal is presented to the judge. 9 Age of all cattle to be 1st May (See Guide) 10 All bulls 6 months and over must have a nose ring and be led by a nose ring and halter. 11 Bulls under 6 months must have a nose ring or grip. 12 Cattle must not be introduced if they are from a property or herd in which Johne s disease has been known, or suspected to exist, during the five year period prior to the Show. 13 All exhibitors to have Public Liability Insurance and to have same endorsed for traveling to Shows. 14 Any exhibitors/competitors intending to bring electrical equipment to the Showgrounds will be required to ensure that such equipment is fitted with residual current protection and that all electrical leads, tools and appliances have been inspected by a licensed electrical contractor and currently tagged. The use of double adaptors is prohibited and all power boards must be tested and tagged. 15 Risks identified by exhibitors/competitors will be eliminated or controlled by the exhibitor/competitor and particular attention will be paid to ensuring public safety and safety of other exhibitors/competitors. 16 It is the responsibility of each exhibitor to ensure that the leaders of their stock in judging rings and parades are capable of exercising control over the animals in their care. 17 Each exhibitor/competitor will assess the risk to themselves, staff, volunteers, family, other exhibitors, show stewards, show visitors and any person foreseeable affected by the presentation of their exhibit. 18 The exhibitors/competitors are required to ensure that they and all persons under their direction or control comply with all requirements of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 and the Society holds each exhibitor responsible to discharge its obligations to provide and maintain a safe place and system of work during occupation by the exhibitor/competitor of any area of the Showgrounds. 19 Stewards have the right to remove any animal from the Judging Ring if that animal is a danger to the safety of the public. 20 No dispute will be considered whilst the event is in progress. Protest to be lodged in writing within thirty minutes after the Class in dispute is completed and must be handed to the Show Secretary accompanied by a fee of $50. The three member dispute committee will consist of the Stewards and their decision will be final. 21 All cattle must be accompanied by a DPI Travel Permit, endorsed with treatments performed (if necessary), and an owner Waybill. 22 It is the responsibility of the owner or person-in-charge of the stock to ensure that the cattle tick requirements (where necessary) have been fulfilled in regard to the entry treatments. Persons not fulfilling the requirements will be refused entry to the Showgrounds. 23 It is the responsibility of the owner or person-in-charge of the stock to contact the nearest Department of Pr4imary Industries Stock Inspector and arrange for treatment (where necessary) of their stock according to the statutory requirements. 24 It is forbidden to administer any prohibited drug or cause one to be administered in any way whatsoever. 25 A prohibited drug means any substance originating externally to the animal (whether or not endogenous to the animal) capable of affecting the performance or behavior of any animal by its action upon central or peripheral nervous system, the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, the alimentary system, the musculo-skeletal system or the uro-genital system and shall include analgesics, anti-histamines, anti-inflammatory agents, blood coagulants, diuretics, hormones and their synthetic counterparts, cortico-steroids, anabolic steroids, local anaesthetics, muscle relaxants and tranquillizers and vitamins. 26 Any exhibit which has been brought to the Showgrounds and is found to have had administered to it any prohibited drug as defined above may, without prejudice to any other action which may be taken in respect of the matter, be debarred by the show Stewards from competing in any event for which it may have been entered. 27 No drug, hormone or tranquilizer shall be administered to any animal exhibit except under the direction of the Society s Veterinary Surgeon who will advise the Stewards if in their opinion such drug, hormone or tranquillizer is likely to have any effect upon the animal which would be material to its chances of being awarded a prize and in such case the Stewards may debar the animal from competing. In Prime Cattle, growth promotion substance is permitted. 28 A Show Steward may at any time direct the Society s Veterinary Surgeon to take a sample of blood, saliva or urine from an exhibit for testing.
