A 44 degree day makes you want to hold a warm gun barrel. Many great compliments about the match design with plenty of movement, lots of targets and a little bit of brain testing. Mariposa designed this match with a theme from the movie Open Range. Great job Cowboy! We had a number of great lines to say like ''men are going to die today Sue, and I'm going to kill them." "Are you the one that shot my friend?" "One twitch and you're in hell." "A man has a right to protect his life and property." It's fun to say those lines just before the timer goes off and you start shooting while remembering one of the gun fights from movie land. Posse leaders fo the three posses were Leadfoot, Snakebite and Major Gregor. We had forty-two shooters brave the very cool day. The most popular hangout seemed to be the fire pit. A few cowboys suggested that we needed the blacksmith to put wheels on the fire pit and make it portable. Sudden was overall match winner with Little Fawn a close second. We had two shooters shoot a clean match. Salutes to Levi Longneck and Smokem Joe. That was Smokem Joe's second clean match in a row. Snakebite claims that Little Fawn is making side bets at out-of-town matches. He was seen paying her off with candy bars. Junebug McCaffrey was extremely proud of her finish for the match. Next month's match is being designed by Nine Lives. He is going to test our shotgunning skills by using all of our targets that will put something in the air. Bring plenty of shot gun ammunition (40 rounds). Deadly Tedley called last week to say hello from Florida and thank us fo the great article in the Cowboy Chronicle, pages 76 and 77. Judge Jeremiah Steele did a fantastic job of putting the article together and submitting it to the Chronicle. Salutes to Judge Jeremiah Steele! Tedley is the new State Champion Dualist of Florida. He acquired this title at the Last Stand, the second week of January. Fort Miller 2005 is scheduled fo October 13th through 16*. Long range and silhouette will be shot on Thursday the and the main match will be Friday and Saturday.
